Deadside - Lucas
Hello, Deadsiders!

We're continuing to reveal details about the upcoming Update 0.4.0 and this time we will talk about filling the world of Deadside and some non-combat features that the update will bring to the game.

The wildlife of the Deadside world comes to life with ducks settling near water. We plan to expand the game's fauna with other animals in the future. Water bodies will not remain lifeless either.

Duck hunting:

Ducks are not just a decorative element of the environment, but one of the ways to get food in the post-apocalyptic wilderness. You can just scare ducks off in the reeds and check how fast you are, or use a decoy. But be careful: attracting attention can easily turn you into prey.

The post-apocalyptic world is harsh, but the extracted meat and fish do not necessarily have to be eaten raw. You can skin your prey and cook food on a campfire. Do not overcook: meat may burn.

The merchants' stocks are running out, but you will be able to get fresh water and food yourself, and there is still enough canned food left in the settlements.

As you already know, these are not the only changes in the world that the 0.4.0 update will bring to the game.
Durability, repair and disassembly of weapons:

When the update goes live, the assortment of weapons available at safe zones from traders will also change. We do not plan to make the weapon wear excessive so that the gameplay flow is not affected much, but you will have to track the condition of the weapon in order to avoid jamming in the midst of a gunfight.

In order to repair the weapon, you will need a tool kit and a repair kit containing parts of the disassembled weapon. You will also be able to use disassembling to break enemy weapons to prevent hostile survivors from using them.

Greetings, Deadsiders

Vladimir Savchenko here, for those who don’t know me I’m the Production Director for Deadside. Today I bring you some exciting news, so let’s jump right in.

Vehicles. We haven’t shared a lot of information regarding transport in Deadside because we wanted to be absolutely sure we could deliver it the way we meant it to be. Now, we are ready to break the silence - Hoverboats are coming in Update 0.5 at the end of October with the wheeled transport to follow. Through the course of the last 7 months, we’ve developed a ton of prototypes, R’n’D, rebuilt the whole system from scratch three times and finally ended up with the best possible solution. We will be sharing a lot more details, including Loaf’s insider preview, over the upcoming weeks. Meanwhile, here’s a sneak peak of the hoverboats in-game action:

Next, there’s Update 0.5.1 that will be going live mid-November and will bring a map extension over the islands. There will be new content as well as brand new missions. Also, a part of this area will be available for base building as well. This region will be accessible by water via hoverboats, or by land via a bridge.

But that’s not all: Update 0.4 will go live at the beginning of October and it’s loaded with features! It will deliver a total weapon and gunplay overhaul: pattern-based recoil and spread, punchy new ARs and SMGs shooting animations, real time sound reverb for indoor locations, weapons jamming probability and repairing and disassembling using the workbench and in the field. With this update, we will be adding more survival mechanics as well: duck hunting and “fishing”, cooking meat and fish on the fire, water collector for bases and more. As always we will share detailed info on all of that via upcoming posts.

And last but not least: we would also like to thank all of you for staying with us and for all your support, Deadsiders. There’s a lot of exciting stuff ahead that we’ll be sharing more news till the end of the year. Stay tuned!

Hello, Deadsiders!

In the previous post about the development process, we shared with you some details about changes to the weapon balance. In Deadside, your effectiveness in combat depends not only on your marksman skills and weapon condition, but also on your character's metabolic state, hunger and dehydration. The introduction of Update 0.4.0 will also bring changes to the balance of available provisions, sources and methods of obtaining it.

The most attentive of you have already noticed the military flask in the character's inventory on the previously published GIF.

This essential field item is closely related to the new module: the collector is a constant source of fresh water, you can install it on your base. The new craft item required to create a collector, along with wood and metal, is polyethylene.

Traders' stocks are dwindling, but survival has never been limited with a short hike to the store. More information about new ways of getting food in our next posts. Stay tuned.

Hello, Deadsiders!

The Deadside community is strongly represented in LATAM and actively supports the project. Unfortunately, recently a lot of players from South America have been reporting the issue of being unable to connect to servers in Brazil.

We had looked into possible solutions together with G-Portal experts and deployed servers in another location with high-quality infrastructure. Servers in Chile are now available to you. Low ping, high-quality connection and high-quality hardware for comfortable and smooth play.

Hello, Deadsiders!

We have seen a lot of discussions regarding the gunplay and sound design. It's time to shed some light on some of the upcoming changes and improvements that will affect everything related to weapons.

Patch 0.3.2 will bring improvements to the game that will allow you to fight more effectively and save precious seconds that can decide the outcome of a fight.

You can learn more about the changes at the link:
https://tblink.co/Deadside032PTS

One of the most important changes of the 0.4.0 Update is the total reworking of many aspects related to weapons.
Improved recoil and weapon rebalancing
With update 0.4.0, all weapons in the game will have an individual pattern of recoil and spread, emphasizing the identity of each gun. Previously, shooting was completely determined by the random behavior of weapons within the defined spread limits, after the update this will be a combination of unique weapon adjustments and a random factor. This opens up the possibilities of controlling the recoil and skill improvement for automatic weapons with continuous firing.

Learn more about the sound and recoil changes in the Loaf's overview video:

Durability, repair and disassembly of weapons.
One of the most important gameplay changes of this update is the introduction of the weapon's durability parameter and the chance of jamming, which depends on this parameter. In the world of Deadside, your life depends on weapons – repair them regularly to feel sure in battle. In order to repair your gun, you will be able to use spare parts obtained during the disassembly of other weapons on the Workbench.

We will come back with more details on these mechanics in the following posts

SFX
We have completely reworked the gunshot sounds for each weapon. We are sure that you will appreciate the new quality of sound effects in the game.We have added ambient effects, the sounds of a shot in an open area and in closed rooms will be different. Improved positioning and distance-based sound propagation so that you can more accurately determine the location of an enemy out of sight.

Animations and effects
We have also reworked and improved the animations of recoil and handling of weapons (not captured on video) and gunshots camera effects. Now the weapons in your hands will feel noticeably different

More news about the development of Update 0.4.0 coming soon. Stay in touch.
