Dear investigators, the version 0.83 comes with new content fully based on the third playable character, the Witch, as well as fixes and improvements. Here we go!

NEW CONTENT:
  • Witch's quest line introduced: We have included the first 5 locations of the Witch's quest line. There are still some more levels to add, things to complete and upgrade on the locations implemented, and the fight against the third Great Old One, in a coming patch.

  • Changes on the Witch's skills:
    - Teleportation: One of the main skills of the Witch. Uses energy and teleports the Witch on the direction of the mouse cursor, out of the danger. Spam this skill and it will keep you alive. The Witch is a Glass Cannon with a huge DPS but very low HP.
    - Explosive bones: Remember all those useless bones that you found with other characters? Well, the Witch can give them very good use, making magic explosive devices out of them. They work as the Detective's grenades.
    - Ice barrier: Very good to defend yourself and kill the enemies in close range.

  • Added new basic items: Chocolate & Bandages. The Chocolate will slightly increase your sanity. The bandages will cure the bleeding effect.

  • Added new mythos items: We have added plenty of new and powerful consumibles. Try them out!

  • The doctor's bag now also cures bleeding effect.

  • New sound effects added.

KNOWN ISSUES:

Of course, each time that we include new content, it comes with bugs. We have identified several that we will solve in a coming hotfix:

  • The basic attack of the Witch has a smaller range than the actual animation shows. It will be increased as it should.

  • Upon using the Ice barrier, the Witch does a small jump to the right & down. This is not intented.

  • If you press to throw a explosive bone, and you dont have any, the Witch casts Fire barrier. This is not intented.

  • In rare cases, when you use an Ankh to resurrect, the shadow of the playable character appears to the left of the character, instead of under.

  • In the level Shores of Hali there are several graphic issues, like doors with no exit, doors showing in half, and a shop icon showing in the map but not appearing in the room. All of them will be fixed.

  • We have eliminated many grammar and punctuation issues in the text of the game.

  • No weapons implemented: The Witch has no weapons yet implemented in the game. They will be in a coming patch.

  • Some quest elements may not show in the minimap with the "!" exclamation mark icon.

  • You can use the bandages, even if you are not bleeding, and they will heal you a bit. This use is not intented.

  • The sound effect of thunder in places with rain repeats itself too much.

  • Issues in the text. They will be fixed in the future hotfix.

  • Balance: The balance of the Witch needs to be improved, here you can help us with your comments. If you find rooms or levels too easy or too hard, tell us. This is by nature a very delicate character so keep that in mind. You cannot tank the enemies.

There are plenty of smaller details, fixes and upgrades that we have added in this version, but listing all of them would take us the whole night :) Still, you will feel the game much more solid in this version. Play the Witch, and please share with us your thoughts and comments.

Dear investigators, the version 0.80 comes to impress you all! Prepare yourself because along with the usual improvements in balance, and resolution of bugs, we bring new content that will leave you speechless. Here we go!

NEW CONTENT:
  • Professor's quest line completed: The quest line of the Professor, that we started in the patch 0.79, comes to an impressive and unexpected end, giving a "Go" to the part of the story on which the main star will be our third playable character, the Witch!!

  • Added new levels: Expedition to Antarctica, The lost temple, The Library, R'lyeh!

  • We have included in one of the Professor's levels, the possibility of unlocking the third playable character: The Witch!! You will have to play with the Professor in order to unlock this powerful character.

  • New playable character, The Witch: For now, you can only play with her, to get used to her skills over the elements, in the same levels of the Professor. Using her magic skull as focus, she can shoot mid-range fire bolts to her enemies, and she can summon auras to protect herself and kill every enemy that may surround her. She can create fire, ice & electric auras. Learn which aura will be more effective against each enemy!!



    In a next patch, we will include the special locations and quests of the Witch!

  • Face the all-mighty Cthulhu: Our second Great Old One encounter! Try to stop its awakening! Use all the knowledge and skills of the Professor to avoid this catastrophe!

  • New sound effects

GENERAL FIXES
  • Solved issues in several mini events and quests.

  • Solved the problem on several locations where the player killed every enemy on the room, but the seals on the doors remained, leaving the character locked.

  • The shield of the Professor now damages the parasites of the jungle.

  • Solved the issue where the character lost sanity but appeared a message saying the he recovered sanity.

  • Solved the issue in the Writer shop, that offered items without cost.

IMPROVEMENTS:
  • We have improved the balance for the Professor.

  • Improvements in the AI of the enemies.

  • We have eliminated many grammar and punctuation issues in the text of the game.

We need a lot of feedback from you on this patch, because the amount of new content is quite important. Play with the Professor, try the Witch, tell us if you find any bug.

Dear investigators,
Tonight is high time to share with all of you the new dangers that await those who carelessly advance through the unknown locations that rise up before us.

You really want to watch your steps, because if it wasn´t enough with the dozens of enemies, there are plenty of different traps in the game. Some of which, you know already, and others brand new that for sure will surprise you.

STONE TRAP
If you see a crack on the floor, try to find a way around or jump over it, if you can... Or you will get an instant hamburger of investigator.


SPIKES
Jump over them to dodge the spikes. They are terribly sharp and you´ll bleed for a certain period of time.


ACID PUDDLE
You cannot jump over them to avoid the damage. Just don´t step over them, or find yourself an item to protect you of the effects!


FIRE TRAP
How would you like your investigator? Medium rare or well done?


TENTACLES TRAP
Not only they will grab you, making you go slower for a certain period of time, their caustic matter will damage you as well... Plus, they are nasty as hell!


SPIDER EGGS
Shoot them from afar, if you see them... If you don´t, and they explode when you are near, run as fast as you can, and use any melee attack or protection available.


So, don´t say that we didn´t warn you. Open your eyes, mind your steps... And survive! You are the last hope for the future of the World!

Dear investigators, the version 0.79 is available for you to download. In it, we finally bring new juicy content, we have improved the balance, and we have fixed many bugs:

NEW CONTENT:
  • Professor's quest line: We have started to include the story of the professor in the game. Now you can play the Laboratory, the Ancient Cemetery and Pickman's Catacombs, with special minievents and quests for the Professor.

  • New types of mines: We have increased the arsenal of the professor. Now he can use Acid, Electric and Ice mines.

  • New exclusive items and weapons: The professor now has become even more dangerous than before. FEEL THE POWER OF THE SCIENCE!!!



  • New traps: We have added new traps in the Coutnryside Pogost and in De la Pour Crypt. Watch your steps!

Dear investigators, the version 0.78 is available for you to download. In it, we have focused on fixing may bugs that we have found on the road, and added some new things. Check out the detailed notes:

GENERAL FIXES
  • Fixed the issue where if you used a bettle or ankh while shooting, the character couldnt shoot.

  • Fixed the issue that some loot appear over the walls

  • Solved many clipping issues of graphic elements.

  • Minor fixes of the UI

IMPROVEMENTS:
  • We have included a new item drop system more balanced. Expect less useless items and more practical ones. No more empty chests.

  • New system in the shops: Now both the King in yellow and the Writter will offer random objects every time you find them.

  • Improvements in the AI of the enemies.

  • We have improved the skills of the Professor. The explosive shot now doesn´t damage the Professor, but we have increased its cost of energy. The shield can be recharged, and now protects the Professor based on the energy remaining in his device. Still, we need to improve the balance of this character.

  • Chapter selection available: We are aware that many players have completed the game, and they want to replay a specific location. We have added this possibility in the character selection screen. Click on a character, and a menu will pop up with the levels available. In order to see the level list, you need to reach, at least once the Strange Place to activate it, and complete the levels at least once to have it available on the list.

  • We have included new sound effects, and music.

  • We have eliminated many grammar and punctuation issues in the text of the game.

Greetings, investigators,

Do not worry: we have performed the rituals to keep the dark forces at bay; there won’t be any unintended visitors today.

We’ve got good news for a change, and we wouldn’t want anyone interrupting. What could possibly constitute good news when we’re facing crawling horrors as ancient and powerful as the forces of creation? Nothing less than a new ally to fight them. We are aware that we can’t win for good – but maybe with her help we can postpone our defeat and forestall the plans of the Great Old Ones one more day…

Let us introduce you to the witch Elizabeth des Flèches. She was born in southern France, but her mother was wise enough to raise her in the old ways, following the ancient trails to the ruins of the Druidic temples. She learnt forgotten sorceries, and in her trances and visions she discovered the malignant creatures that threaten the very fabric of our world, always lurking our existence at the distance of a mere shadow.



In one of her sulfur-induced dreams, she saw sacred stone circles, now corrupted on the top of unknown mountains; stone pillars, silent guardians of the eternal sleep of the faithful, turned to dark purposes. And when she woke up, there were strange prints all around them, like the claws of monstrous birds, and a new power had been bestowed upon her: she could make lighting shoot from her fingertips; the elements played and danced for her, becoming her shield… and her sword.

The Witch is the third character available in Lovecraft’s Untold Stories. A fast-moving character, Elizabeth has an above-average knowledge of the Cthulhu Mythos thanks to her training as a sorcerer. She attacks from mid-range using his skull as a magic focus, as well as using the elements to create varied effects, defensive as well as offensive. The Witch joins the Detective and the Professor in a diverse ensemble of characters, each with a very different pace and gameplay features.

Our time is running out. Soon this place will not be safe. The Witch will contact you, investigators. For now, you must depart.

Dear investigators, the version 0.75 is available for you to download, with lots of upgrades and innovations. Please, check the patch notes, with a detailed explanation of all the changes and upgrades implemented:

NEW CONTENT
  • Old Mines: We have included new mini-events and the plot quest necessary to access to the new sub-location "Caves of the green fire".
  • Caves of the green fire: A new plot sub-location for the Old Mines. It includes mini-events and plot quests.
  • Coastal Township: The first level located in the coastal city of Innsmouth.
  • Devil reef: First Great Old One encounter. This map is not final, and the rooms will change slightly on future patches. Don't let the cults to awaken Dagon!
  • Changes on the Strange Place: Now you will find 5 altars, one per Great Old One. You will have to collect information about each Great Old One, and a key, in the different locations and sub-locations of the game, in order to activate the portals to the secret places where these monsters are hiding. You can see in the Strange place now, your progress in the game, and how much information you have acquired of each Great Old One.
  • New creatures: Dagon cultists, lurkers, Deep Ones.
BALANCING

Balance of the locations
We have improved even more the balance of every level in the game. This is still not the final balance, but definitely makes things much better.
  • Mansion: We decreased the attack range of the enemies. The mansion now is smaller, and also, the cultist have taken their turrets to other, more strategic, places. You won´t have to face the turrets here anymore, but you will, most surely, find them later on.
  • Hospital: We have lowered the damage of the Mi-Go, to counter their range and speed. We have lowered the hitpoints of the Abomination, and the damage of its range attack. We have slightly lower the damage of the acid pools.
  • Countryside Pogost: We have limited the maximum amount of enemies on the room, to avoid the problem of the necromancers summoning undeads non-stop. We have made the necromancers a bit slower.
  • Old Mines: We have lowered the hitpoints of the big spiders.
  • Caves of the green fire: The towers re-appear in this location, but they rotate much slower than the old ones, making it easier to run around them and shoot them from behind.

GENERAL FIXES
  • The enemies of the Countryside Pogost now react to the Ibn-Ghazi`s liquid and stop attacking you, while under its effect.
  • Now, if you die while fighting the Mi-Go boss of the laboratory, and use an Ankh, the boss won´t appear with you in the room, after you resurrect.
  • The animation of fly of the Mi-Go boss in the laboratory, now works as intented.
  • Fixed many issues of objects clipping over each other, with weird visual results.
  • Fixed visual issues with secret doors, on several locations. Now they look as it should.
  • Fixed the issue where you could push the corpses of Googs in the Old mines.
  • Fixed the issue where if you had an item that increased your hitpoints, after resurrecting, you didnt have the full health bar, but only the basic health.
  • Fixed the issue with the freeze effect of the spiders in the Old Mines. Now the character recovers stamina as intented, when the effects disappear.

Welcome, investigators. Hurry up, come in: we’ve got information that it will prove useful in your struggle against the cosmic horrors… but beware, for it could be your undoing too if you don’t use this information wisely and carefully. We’ve heard about an accursed place with special significance for the creatures of the Cthulhu Mythos: a town called Innsmouth, in Massachusetts, a horrendous place where, apparently, the vilest of deeds take place.



Innsmouth was invented (or maybe discovered, who knows?) by H.P. Lovecraft, and first referenced in 1920 in Celephaïs as a village in England. However, the most famous incarnation of this place is the one you can read in The Shadow over Innsmouth, published in Weird Tales in 1936 – this time placed in Massachusetts, USA. Innsmouth is a cursed village, a place in a terrible state of decay, so rotten that looks like about to collapse on itself.

This sea town had a sinister history behind it, with hundreds of people disappearing over the years, rumors of dark cults ongoing, and rampant interbreeding that led to madness and deformities. Its inhabitants, a silent people with strange bulging eyes, hide a terrible secret: after a dark pact made in the past by a greedy sailor, for centuries they have mated with the Deep Ones, monsters of the sea and servants of the Old Ones, in exchange for power and riches.



In his fight against the creeping horrors that threaten to devour our world, the Detective will end up finding and exploring the town of Innsmouth. There, he will meet some new terrible enemies, such as the lurkers (half-breed of humans and Deep Ones), members of the Esoteric Order of Dagon (a dark religious cult that worship Father Dagon, a powerful Old One who dwells in the darkest bottoms of the oceans) – and who knows what other dangers live in this accursed town... Therein Innsmouth, the Detective has to find something that he needs to face the Old Ones for the first time – but Innsmouth does not give up its secrets easily…



Innsmouth will be included as a new level in next major update of Lovecraft’s Untold Stories, to be released this weekend, expanding the world of the game and its narrative, and digging deeper in Lovecraft’s work. Prepare for the next step in your eternal fight against the cosmic horrors, investigators. We hope this information proves useful to you. Greetings, investigators! The stars are favorable tonight, and the dark powers we fight against are silent. That means that we have some time to talk, and we’d like to go deeper into the Hospital, one of the levels currently available in Lovecraft’s Untold Stories, to explain where its inspiration came from.

Hospitals are a common place in horror stories – we relate them with sickness, pain, and death, and that scares everyone for obvious reasons. But the Hospital in Lovecraft’s Untold Stories is not a random, run-of-the-mill scary location. It’s directly inspired by a Lovecraft short story, one with its own place in the history of the genre: Herbert West—Reanimator, serialized first in an amateur magazine and published some time later in the pulp classic magazine Weird Tales.



Although this story was not exactly one of Lovecraft’s favorites, it holds some significance for his later works. For a start, it’s the first mention of Miskatonic University, a fictional place located in Arkham (in turn, a fictional town in Massachussetts). Miskatonic is famous for holding a genuine copy of the Necronomicon; under its surface of a serious, Harvard-like teaching institution, its faculty has an ongoing interest for the occult. Almost 20 characters out of its Faculty appear in different Lovecraft stories playing different roles. They usually try to explain first, and fight later, the appearances of creatures from the Cthulhu Mythos and all the phenomena related to them.



Herber West—Reanimator is also one of the first depiction of zombies as reanimated corpses with mindless, violent, and cannibalistic impulses. Inspired by (and up to some point, mocking) Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, Herbert West is a scientist who turns to grave-robber to get corpses for his experiments in reanimating dead bodies using a mysterious serum created by him. This story is more a pulp fiction than Lovecraft’s cosmic horror: mad scientists, brain-eating monsters, gruesome murders, and sinister locations.

The Hospital in the game is a direct reference to Herbert West—Reanimator that we have mixed with other creatures of the Mythos, creating our own Untold Story.



The Hospital is not the only location directly inspired in Lovecraft’s stories that you will find in Lovecraft’s Untold Stories. Stay tuned, because next week we’ll introduce you to another one: the infamous Innsmouth, found in stories such as The Shadow Over Innsmouth.

Dear investigators, the version 0.70 is available for you to download, with lots of upgrades and innovations. Please, check the patch notes, with a detailed explanation of all the changes and upgrades implemented:

CONTROL SYSTEM

Mouse support
The game now supports mouse controls: now you can play with Mouse + Keyboard. You can control with your mouse every part of the interface (inventory, shops, game menus), as well as attack and throw objects in 360º.

Gamepad
The Help window now doesn’t open up when you press down the right Thumbstick.

Now to throw explosives: hold the left trigger and a cursor will appear. Choose the direction where you want to throw the explosive with the right Thumbstick and release the left trigger when ready to throw. You can still run and dodge will aiming.

Keyboard
We have changed the default keys for several actions. Please check Controls in the Options menu for further details.

NEW CONTENT
  • Old mansion: We have included new mini-events in the Old mansion.
  • Hospital: We have included new mini-events, as well as the storyline main quest.
  • Laboratory: We have included this new location as a sub-level of the hospital.
  • Countryside Pogost: We have included new mini-events, and also the storyline main quest. We have included new creatures, and we have changed the mechanics of the miniboss. Now this dark cemetery should be a challenge as well, even for the most skilled investigators!
  • Crypt: We have included this new location as a sub-level of the Countryside Pogost.
  • Old Mines: We have included new mini-events.
  • Expedition to Anctartica: We have included new mini-events.
BALANCING

Balance of the locations
We have improved the balance of every level in the game. This is still not the final balance, because with the new Mouse support, we need to check how hard the game is now for you, so your feedback is more important than ever!
  • Mansion: We have decreased the difficulty of this level. It is still very challenging but “fair”. Now you won’t get those impossible situations on the very first rooms.
  • Hospital: We have increased the difficulty and changed the behavior of some enemies. The hospital should be now as challenging as the mansion, in terms of difficulty.
  • Countryside Pogost: We have included new enemies. We have changed the mechanic of the miniboss. Now should be more challenging than before.
  • Old Mines: We have included new enemies. We have improved the AI of the enemies, now they shouldn’t get stuck that often on the elements of the scenario.
  • Expedition to Anctartica: We have included changes on the behavior of the enemies. Now they will do melee attack as well as ranged.
General balance
  • We have increased the prices in the shops to minimize the difference between the amount of money and info that the player finds in the game, and the basic costs of the items.
  • The shops will appear more frequently.
GENERAL FIXES
  • Fixed the issue where the tutorial guide didn’t show the right gamepad buttons.
  • Fixed the issue where the character appeared over the doors in certain rooms.
  • Fixed the issue where you could push the corpse of the Gugs in the Old Mines.
  • Fixed several clipping issues where objects were in illogical positions.
  • Fixed the issue where, with the parasite status, the character had too much life regeneration.
  • Fixed the issue in the Countryside Pogost where some doors could be blocked by elements of the scenario.
