Lastly, we wanted to take a moment to openly and honestly speak on our current Steam review score. We've been compiling the top negative review feedback, and noting actionable moves we can take on our part to address these comments, which are entirely valid and constructive. We have always approached development with an open ear to our community.

We have been receiving a high influx of players who are unable to start the game (due to the regional firewalls in Mainland China, and unfortunately, not in our control). We've created a sub-forum here to help bridge this gap in translation and to hopefully better inform those players.

The Valhalloween Festive Event has begun! (Oct 11th - Nov 1st)

Tribes of Midgard - Norsfell

Embrace the spooky season! This celebration returns to Midgard today, October 11th, 2022. Everyone and everything from Valhalla, to the Village, to the Goblins (and even some Helthings) will be showing off their seasonal makeovers. The Valhalloween themed main menu and night defense musical tracks will also be making their return!

Along with the Festive changes, we’ve introduced improvements to the Construction system - quintupling the build limit on PC and doubling the limit on all other platforms. We're still hard at work on this system, and have taken the first steps in a direction to allow for more Constructions in a World, but have plans to improve and optimize it further with our next large update. We are actively monitoring your conversation surrounding the build system and beyond, and appreciate all your feedback!

With that said, let's get this Valhalloween party started.

Patch Notes

Valhalloween Update - QoL Changes:

Construction Limit Gauge
- To help track the Build Limits within a given World, we’ve added a UI element in Survival that tracks the progress as more Constructions are placed, making it easier to recognize when you’re about to hit the cap.
Increased Build Limit
- We worked hard to optimize the weight of large amounts of Constructions in a single World so that you can build the Viking home you always wanted!
- We’re continuing to improve this system and monitor how it handles from a technical standpoint out in the wild, but in the meantime we’ve increased the Build Limits on all platforms as such:
Storage Chest Sharing
- Crafting Stations now have a visual radius when interacting or placing them. This radius indicates that the contents of any Storage Chest located within its bounds can be accessed for the purpose of crafting and does not need to be in the Player’s inventory. This should ease up Players’ ability to readily access Materials from any combination of Storage Chests when crafting from nearby stations.
Storage Chest Dismantling
- We recognized that it was a little too easy to have your Storage Chests be dismantled while there was still precious cargo inside, losing it forever. To remedy this, we’ve made it so that you cannot dismantle a Storage Chest until all of its contents have been removed, triggering a warning if you try to do so.
Center on Shrine
- When pressing the Seed of Yggdrasil shortcut on the Map, the cursor now centers on the Shrine instead of the Seed, something very useful to free up fast travel with a controller and a feature requested by the Community.
Shop Currency
- Currency icons have been added to Shop categories to better inform players at a glance (E.G. Gameplay section has a Golden Horn icon)
Loading Screen Progress Bar
- Loading screens now come equipped with a handy little loading bar to help communicate the progress

Frog Prince Pet - Princess Linda’s magical long lost BFF has made his dramatic entrance, and he’s as majestic as we could have hoped for!

Vybyn - Goblin spy sent out to steal secrets, or super friendly little buddy who just wants to vibe out with the Einherjar? Either way, he’s cute as Hel.
- Unlocked with Platinum Coins in the Shop
Little Geirrö - Before he was a frozen mountain of ice-cold fury, this little ice cube just wanted to be a superhero. Whatever happened, you’re still our hero little Geirrö - stay frosty!

Little Hálo - Yes, he grew a molten beard that young. Some say it even helped with his cooking! Just watch out for his fiery sneezing.

Valhalloween Update - Bug Fixes:

Optimized a number of performance issues caused by having a lot of Constructions active in a single World
In our efforts to better optimize mass Constructions, we fixed a number of issues in which people were loading into games and falling through the World
Fixed an issue in which Door Constructions' open/close animations would not always play
Fixed an issue with controller placement direction when rotating in Build Mode.
Fixed some instances of the ! icon staying indefinitely for new items even after you’ve viewed them.
Fixed an issue in which you could not place the Allforge once you’ve reached the Construction cap. You can now place the Allforge regardless of the cap.
Fixed an issue in which the Bow Firing animations would stagger if the player was moving forward while shooting.
Fixed a rare issue in which Players would return to the Sanctuary when emerging from an Underpass or Hideout

Hotfix: Inferno-3.0-1

Tribes of Midgard - Norsfell

Hiló Vikings!🛠️ We have deployed a Hotfix to resolve issues identified during Season 3, including various crashes and Xbox invite issues.

There's no downtime - you'll just have to restart Tribes of Midgard to see the changes! 🙌

Game Changes

Higher-powered Enemies now also drop the basic Materials of their lower-powered counterparts, in addition to their usual higher-tier Materials.
- For example, weaker Unsunken Warriors drop Yarn, while the strongest Unsunken Warriors drop Spun Yarn. Now, the strongest Unsunken Warriors will also drop Yarn in addition to Spun Yarn. Journal entries for these enemies were updated to reflect their full loot possibilities.

Fixes

[Xbox, PlayStation] Fixed a crash that could occur when exiting a World just as the Console is going into a suspend state
Fixed a crash that could occur when specific inputs were pressed during game loading
Fixed a crash that could occur during the fishing sequence
Fixed a crash that could occur when harvesting Resource nodes with the Spear equipped
Fixed a crash that could occur when completing the Rune Scribe Challenge
Fixed a crash that could occur when respawning from the Hunter’s Totem
Fixed an issue in which the Embers Armor Set did not have accurate Temperature protection values. It now correctly has a much higher protection against Heat
Fixed a number of issues that could happen as a result of idling or restoring a lost connection in the Tutorial
Fixed an issue in which VFX from the Surtr’s Spire Spear could linger during certain animations
Fixed instances in which players would not receive an error message when trying to accept an old game invitation from a transitional or loading screen
Fixed some legibility issues with player names on the Minimap in the Village
Fixed an issue in which the footstep SFX could be missing while holding a Spear
Fixed an issue that could happen in the Shop in which the Purchase option for a Cosmetic would not update quickly enough after getting more Platinum Coins
[Xbox] Fixed an issue in which Survival Sessions were not listed as Joinable from the Friend’s List
[Xbox] Fixed an issue in which players were unable to send Invites from Private Survival Worlds
[Xbox Series X]Fixed an issue with the rooftop transparency effect in the Village Longhouse
[Xbox Series X] Fixed an issue in which some environment assets were set to the wrong quality setting

As mentioned in yesterday's blog post, we're looking to also increase the Construction limit. We’re also looking into Construction height, pulling Materials directly from Storage Chests, and alerts to prevent dismantling a Storage Chest that contains Items, among a few.

It’s been just about two weeks since the launch of Season 3, and since Tribes of Midgard newly arrived to players on Xbox and Nintendo Switch! In case you’re new here (hello, welcome!!) or need a quick reminder, here’s just some of what rolled in with the Inferno Saga update:

We wanted to take today to talk about your feedback, upcoming improvements, and celebrate what we’ve seen you create so far! Let’s get into it.

Survival Mode Changes & Construction System

First and foremost, we have seen that you have been reaching the limit for Constructions. We completely understand the desire to build bigger, better, and more creative Viking settlements, and it’s one of our top priorities to increase this limitation.

In all transparency, the cap was set in place due to technical limitations, and we’re working on revamping that system to see what’s viable, while ensuring the game remains as stable as possible. We expect the increase in Constructions to take effect in game early October, aligning with our Valhalloween update.

We’ll stay in close touch and let you know as soon as this change can be made - thank you so much for your understanding and patience. It’s not just the Construction limit that we're looking into - we’re also looking into Construction height, pulling Materials directly from Storage Chests, and alerts to prevent dismantling a Storage Chest that contains Items, among a few.

Top FAQ

We also wanted to recap some of the top-asked questions this past week or so:

Where can Yarn be found?
- Yarn can be found on Unsunken Enemies at Ash Beach (Survival + Saga), or, it can be crafted through the Tanning Station (Survival) or Tinker (Saga).
Do Ancients respawn in Survival Mode?
- No, Ancients do not respawn in Survival Mode (however, we’re always open to feedback and this may change in the future). Jötnar respawn and they will level up.
Where can I find Quest Fragments in Survival Mode?
- You must craft the Artifact Altar. First, you’ll craft the Mining Cutter from the Allforge. Then from the Mining Cutter, you can craft the Artifact Altar, so long as you have a strand of Angrboða’s hair.
- We are also exploring bringing Quest NPCs to Survival Mode in Season 4.
How can I Repair items in Survival Mode?
- You repair for Souls using the Allforge (deployable anytime from the Build Menu).

1 Year Anniversary Event

August 23rd to September 12th, 2022

Long ago, legend foretold of a so called “Chickem”... and it all truly began as a *very weird* rumor within our Discord. Some said you had to hold a Golden Egg for 100 days to hatch the perfect chicken pet, and some theorized that completing the Roosters Event granted you this special feathery fellow…

Whether that’s true or not, we now celebrate ONE YEAR since launch with our Anniversary Event, complete with a Ragnarooster Cosmetic Set, 3 feathery Rooster Pets, one very special Chickem Pet and Portrait as well as 3 brand new Festive Challenges!
