The Interplanetary Media Network has been monitoring reports of a number of major new technologies that could change life in nullsec space forever, as well as the rest of the New Eden cluster.
In what they term “a monumental stride toward the future of space colonization and infrastructure development,” the Upwell Consortium has officially announced the forthcoming deployment of Equinox, a comprehensive suite of solutions that promises to revolutionize life in null security space. This seminal set of innovative products allows enterprising nullsec organizations to harness and manipulate new resources from planets, customize their space, and gain access to a highly skilled and efficient workforce, as well as new passive income opportunities. This is merely the tip of the iceberg, though, as Upwell, Paragon, and AIR have unveiled multiple further innovations coming to New Eden on YC 126.06.11, as detailed here.
In addition, reports indicate plans for a Vanguard test deployment to a new kind of environment. This operation will introduce new adaptive weaponry to ground combat, as well as disruptive new contracts, and more. The test is scheduled for YC 126.06.20 and expected to last until YC 126.07.01.
HARNESS PLANETARY POWER
Capsuleers from all over New Eden have been investigating a new Upwell prototyping facility under construction in the Auviken system. Many pilots chose to contribute to the development of the structure, although its purpose was surrounded by secrecy. Upwell has now revealed that the structure was a prototype orbital skyhook, one of a line of advanced colonization structures being made available to capsuleers with the launch of the Equinox suite on YC 126.06.11.
Central to Equinox is the orbital skyhook, an advanced form of skyhook that will allow more efficient planet-to-space transfers than ever before. Anchored in orbit of planets within sovereign nullsec space, these structures will provide access to power, workforce, and reagents necessary for the empire-building aspirations of nullsec leaders.
In addition to the planetary harvesting capabilities of the skyhook, Equinox also introduces the Metenox Moon Drill, an automated resource extraction structure allowing organizations in nullsec and lowsec to streamline in-system operations and focus on expansion and strategy, rather than manual harvesting.
Yet another revolutionary installation is the sovereignty hub, set to replace the infrastructure hub and territorial claim unit, promising to become a new cornerstone of territorial dominance. With upgradeable options depending on the star system's topology and the planets within, it offers a nuanced approach to sovereignty that reflects each star system's physical characteristics, as well as the goals and strategic leanings of the territory owners. For instance, certain upgrades allow the discovery of previously undetectable ore, while others will assist in the detection of the most impactful pirate targets, and more. This new technology revolutionizes how planetary resources are harnessed, making it more strategic than ever before, reducing manufacturing bottlenecks, and giving capsuleers unprecedented control over their star systems, akin to having the power to shape space to their whim.
Ownership of these new structures can determine control over the valuable resources of a system, making them prized assets that rival factions can contest. Upwell has been quick to dismiss warnings that their introduction could spark a wave of conflicts as capsuleers compete for dominance in nullsec space.
Concerns have been raised that the capabilities of these new Upwell structures to locate and extract more valuable resources than previously accessible in nullsec space could lead to increased and more dangerous pirate activity in the vicinity. While hesitant to address these concerns directly, Upwell has assured potential clients that the structures are resilient and robust, but has declined to comment on speculation that high profile pirate leaders might be drawn out of hiding.
Another integral part of the Equinox suite is the introduction of four new ships, capable of hauling all kinds of infrastructure items but specialized in the transport of planetary resources, underscoring Upwell’s commitment to revolutionizing nullsec operations. Tailored to navigate the new dynamics of resource harvesting and sovereignty, these vessels will bolster the capabilities of capsuleers in this new era of space colonization.
Upwell has also introduced a scientific milestone in cloning technology, representing a paradigm shift in how populations can be mobilized and utilized across the vastness of space, and empowering nullsec corporations with access to a highly skilled workforce.
According to an Upwell spokesperson, the Equinox suite marks just the beginning of a new age of unprecedented capsuleer control over sovereign nullsec space – the first step in a broader vision for this vast region with endless possibilities, and more developments on the horizon. “This is just the start,” assures the spokesperson, setting the stage for ongoing evolution and expansion.
EXPRESSION OF IDENTITY
To many capsuleers, identity and legacy are just as critical as firepower and strategy. Following closely on the heels of Upwell’s announcements, Paragon has revealed a groundbreaking expansion to the SKINR platform and starting on YC 126.06.11 it can be used to personalize ships. This ambitious project empowers creative capsuleers to design and sequence their own ship SKINs, express their unique style, and explore a new career path. Furthermore, capsuleers can strengthen their corporation’s identity by designing and mass sequencing uniform SKINs for their corpmates. Through SKINR, the art of war takes on a new hue, allowing for unparalleled expression of identity in the theater of space.
The interface introduces a robust palette of design elements, consisting of basic and metallic nanocoatings as well as patterns, alongside five customization slots for each SKIN design, four for nanocoatings, and one for patterns. Paragon will supply all capsuleers with a certain number of elements for their creations, but more can be acquired through the new Paragon Hub, and around New Eden. Designers can save and share their creations, showcase their artistry on their own ships, supply their corporation with unique SKINs, or even profit from sequencing and selling them to other pilots, for either ISK or PLEX. “We are proud to unlock the imaginative potential of New Eden's capsuleers,” says IRIS, Paragon's capsuleer liaison. “By opening up further possibilities for talented designers, Paragon is empowering capsuleers to fly their true flags, making every encounter a statement of identity.”
ENHANCED GOALS, STRONGER CORPS
In their ongoing research and development efforts, AIR Technologies has announced upcoming enhancements to the AIR Daily Goals system with the introduction of a long-term, monthly goal track. From combat to exploration, trading to manufacturing, the Daily Goals offer challenges designed to be both accessible and rewarding, incentivizing capsuleers while they support AIR’s cutting-edge research.
The monthly track further diversifies the engagement options available. With separate rewards for Alpha and Omega pilots, the system is designed to encourage regular participation, offering tangible rewards that scale with commitment and achievement.
Furthermore, to bolster the cohesion and operational efficiency of corporations, AIR has partnered with CONCORD and the SOCT to implement substantial upgrades to the corporation interface, and corporation projects. These enhancements will make it easier than ever for corporation leaders to mobilize their members through corporation projects. Leaders can now boost member engagement and further their corporation’s goals through more diverse means than ever before, including automation of ship replacement programs and rewarding new types of activities, such as earning Loyalty Points, and salvaging wrecks.
The corporation management interface has been meticulously redesigned for enhanced usability. With intuitive navigation, detailed icons and tooltips for every segment, the revamped interface simplifies the management of roles and tasks, improving the experience for leaders and corp members alike. These enhancements not only make navigation through corporation content simpler but set the stage for future expansion and functionality.
NEW GROUND FOR VANGUARD
In an attempt to sow chaos in New Eden through ground warfare, the Deathless Circle has contracted and deployed legions of Vanguard, a new generation of warclones, in multiple operations on planets. Rumors out of Zarzakh warn us that new theaters of war are set to be deployed on YC 126.04.25 and again about a month later.
In a major Vanguard deployment from YC 126.06.20-YC 126.07.01, warclones will be asked to face brand new challenges, focused on deeper espionage, asset recovery, and direct engagement with enemy factions. Most notably, this operation will include expanded environmental parameters for the Vanguard, who be deployed to a planet the Deathless Circle has previously left untouched. While the exact location is being kept secret, sources indicate that the Deathless appears to be targeting ruins of a provisional facility on an archipelago amongst polluted waters, seemingly to pick through the pieces of the wreck.
Deathless communications intercepted by IMN indicate further upgrades to the Vanguard’s deadly capabilities, with the introduction of adaptive weaponry. Warclones thereby gain the ability to modify their instruments of destruction, and to bring items and fittings in and out of combat and re-equipping for subsequent deployments. These technological advancements increase their combat effectiveness and open new strategies for capsuleers and factional militias to contract Vanguard warclones in their ongoing conflicts.
MAKE YOUR MARK THROUGH EQUINOX
The upcoming launch of Equinox heralds a new era for New Eden’s most ambitious denizens. From strategic manipulation of nullsec space to the personal expression afforded by SKINR, from the daily goals fostering capsuleer growth and engagement to the operations of fearsome Vanguard, there has never been a better time to seize the dream of greatness and seize control of your destiny.
The Deathless calls once more, letting loose legions of warclones for another trial of ground combat. The latest First Strike playtest kicks off at 12:00 UTC on 25 April and runs until 12:00 UTC on 29 April, opening the doors to EVE Vanguard for the curious and competitive around New Eden. As in previous First Strike events, the playtest is open to all Omega warclones as a part of Founders’ Access.

Something new is taking shape among the stars, in the highsec system of Auviken. The Upwell Consortium, through member corp Propel Dynamics, has just deployed a new research and prototyping facility in orbit of the planet Auviken VI. They’re offering capsuleers the chance to contribute by collecting items called “Drone Graviton Emitters” from Rogue Drones in empire space, as well as containers within highsec Rogue Drone combat anomalies, and bringing those items to Auviken VI. This gives capsuleers of any experience and skill level an opportunity to visit the system and contribute to the development of the facility.
CONTRIBUTE, COLLECT, CASH IN
While its purpose is as yet unclear, the prototype structure is a sight to behold, and offers exciting activities for industrious capsuleers. Pilots will have the option of gathering materials from specific sites and bringing them to the structure site to contribute to construction and trade reward crates. These contain Upwell Consortium Loyalty Tokens, which can be exchanged for ISK like reward tokens from any other group, and have a chance to contain blueprint copies (BPCs) for brand new faction module blueprints. Specifically, the blueprints in question are for the Consortium Tractor Beam and Consortium Mobile Tractor Unit. This is merely the first stage of construction, with more coming.

In the past few months, legions of warclones have gone boots-on-the-ground to try out EVE Vanguard, the sci-fi sandbox FPS set in New Eden, thereby helping to forge the future of the broader EVE Universe. Soon, the doors will open once more, allowing valiant warclones to try out a new mining prototype, a new warclone suit, contribute to suppression in the system, and much more.
The upcoming First Strike playtest kicks off at 12:00 UTC on 21 March and runs until 12:00 UTC on 25 March, and is open to all Omega players as a part of Founders’ Access.
BUILDING THE NEW BATTLEFIELD
As EVE Vanguard continues to evolve, the community’s feedback following each First Strike playtest leads to subtle yet impactful enhancements. The latest build introduces a new mining laser prototype, bringing a strategic layer to resource gathering, essential for survival and accomplishing contract objectives. An early version of a mining laser will be included in players’ default inventory, allowing the mining of ore and opening of tech vaults. Vanguard can passively scan for these resources when the mining laser is equipped, and coupled with the introduction of new mining contracts, this opens up brand new content and dynamics to the battlefield. In addition, minable resources have been added to crafting recipes, and energy ammo can now only be crafted using mined resources (click to watch a video below).
The new Vanguard build also introduces a new warclone suit, as well as a new and updated suit for NPCs. These updates aim to deepen tactical gameplay and visually distinguish Vanguard from NPCs on the battlefield.
Another notable addition in the latest iteration is the introduction of suppression contracts, bringing new dynamics to EVE Vanguard. Warclones now have a choice between sides in the ongoing struggle between order and disorder in New Eden. All corruption contracts have received suppression versions, leveling the playing field between the two sides. In addition, NPCs now drop ammunition as well as biomass, with higher ranking enemies dropping more kinetic ammo than their lowlier counterparts, and elite NPCs drop energy ammo. All this marks the beginning of added complexity and depth coming to EVE Vanguard. In addition to the introduction of these in-development features, several fixes and improvements have also been made, based on player feedback:
Combat and rewards have received balancing improvements.
Multiple server performance improvements have been made, including fixes to server and client crashes.
An issue with deployable shields being active longer than they should has been fixed.
An issue has been fixed, which allowed players to perform multiple actions simultaneously, that should have been mutually exclusive, such as healing and gathering resources.
Push-to-talk has received multiple improvements, including fixes to key binding and operational errors.
An issue with death box animations has been fixed.
An issue allowing players to simultaneously sprint, and place equipment has been fixed.
An issue allowing players to interact with out-of-range objects has been fixed.
An issue with the deployment summary screen displaying incorrect information has been resolved.
Display errors with contract objectives have been addressed.
An issue with NPCs moving at great speed or appearing to teleport across the map has been addressed.
TAKE ON THE LATEST CHALLENGES
Just like in previous playtests, there are serious rewards on the line for industrious warclones. Depending on your activities on the ground, you may walk away with impressive spoils. The rewards on offer include the Corax Arkombine Arisen SKIN, for Vanguard who exchange biomass for a clone 20 times as a part of a squad of two or bigger.
Warclones who manage to harvest at least 2,000 units of ore from mining will receive the Osprey Navy Issue Arkombine Arisen SKIN.
Additionally, Vanguard who reach the top 10 leaderboard for most credits extracted during the event, will be handsomely rewarded with PLEX.
1st place - 3,000 PLEX
2nd - 2,000 PLEX
3rd - 1,500 PLEX
4-5th - 1,000 PLEX
6-10th - 500 PLEX
Acquiring 20 clones as a part of a squad counts toward a longer-term challenge which will culminate in unique rewards later this year. In the December playtest, it was enough to simply launch the game, in January, you needed to complete a deployment as a squad member, and in February you needed to eliminate 50 threats. To unlock the big reward in June, you need to complete at least four of six challenges, so make sure you don’t miss out.
Keep in mind that if you kill five or more of your squadmates over the course of the playtest, you will be disqualified from all the rewards above.
BECOME A FOUNDER
As in the previous First Strike playtests, the doors to EVE Vanguard will be open to players with Founders’ Access, meaning the only requirement to join the event is to have Omega. For those who haven’t already, this is the perfect time to upgrade, as both the EVE Store and the New Eden Store are offering a bundle including 14 days Omega with Arkombine Arisen SKINs for the Orthrus and Phoenix Navy Issue for a limited time, giving anyone interested in jumping into EVE Vanguard an unmissable opportunity.

New Eden is constantly in motion, ever-evolving, impacted by corruption and suppression, and subjected to the havoc wrought in space and on the ground. A new update sees an influx of strategic enhancements, focusing on enriched Factional Warfare experience, quality of life improvements, and the much-requested return of Loyalty Point (LP) donations. Many of the changes being implemented are in direct response to community requests, specifically proposals for ship rebalancing via the Council of Stellar Management (CSM), which recently concluded its annual summit in Reykjavik.
UNITED THROUGH LOYALTY
Cooperation within corporations is a cornerstone of EVE Online, and the return of LP donations is a key step toward further fostering this vital aspect of gameplay. Since LP donations were paused following the release of the Havoc expansion for monitoring the new ecosystem, many groups & communities within the warzone and beyond have expressed a strong need to have this re-enabled sooner rather than later. The ecosystem will continue to be monitored, so in anticipation of the potential impact on the economy and to ensure a balanced environment, a future update will introduce a tax system to these transactions.
This enhancement is part of EVE's ongoing commitment to respond to community feedback and to refine the in-game experience, making cooperation not just a part of survival in New Eden but a thriving aspect of its rich, player-driven narrative.
FACTIONAL WARFARE ELEVATED
The EVE community has pointed out myriad opportunities for rebalancing through the CSM, and this feedback has been instrumental in the changes implemented in the new update. In the spirit of fostering a more dynamic and competitive Factional Warfare environment, significant ship rebalances are being introduced to enrich capsuleers' strategic options in New Eden.
The essence of these changes lies in addressing the dominance of certain ships, such as the Exequror Navy Issue, Osprey Navy Issue, and Caracal, which have historically overshadowed their counterparts due to their superior range and damage capabilities. These vessels receive slight adjustments to ensure they don’t dramatically surpass the diversity of viable ships in their respective classes. Furthermore, the Bellicose and the Republic Fleet Firetail receive much-needed enhancements to affirm their place in the combat ecosystem.
TACTICAL TWEAKS
Throughout the cluster, nuanced adjustments are being introduced to refine the PvP experience, particularly for veteran pilots. These tweaks, grounded in player input, aim to subtly enhance the strategic diversity and balance of ship performance, making engagements more dynamic without drastically altering the established combat landscape.
Marauders will experience a minor reduction in warp speed, a change designed to subtly affect their battlefield mobility. This adjustment opens up new tactical opportunities for adversaries, potentially allowing for more strategic isolation of marauders in conflict scenarios.
In the realm of command ships, enhancements focus on fostering a balanced distribution of roles and effectiveness. A modest increase in the range of command bursts by 50% is introduced to improve their operational flexibility in fleet settings, enhancing their support capabilities without overshadowing other fleet components. The Nighthawk and the Astarte receive slight modifications to promote balance and encourage diversity in PvP situations.
Entropic disintegrators, synonymous with Triglavian might, are adjusted to offer a more measured performance. The initial damage output is slightly reduced, with a compensatory increase in damage ramp-up per cycle.
BETTER SPREADSHEETS IN SPACE
Recent enhancements to the EVE Online Excel add-in empower players with even more advanced tools for corporation member tracking, market order analysis, and structured data management. These updates, including intuitive search functions for structures and stations as well as comprehensive insights into market dynamics, are designed to optimize data-driven decision-making in New Eden. Detailed patch notes and discussions can be found in the EVE Online forums. To facilitate a seamless integration of these new features, a sample worksheet is available, providing a practical starting point for data-hungry capsuleers to leverage the full potential of the Excel add-in.
NAVIGATING THE FUTURE
EVE Online continues to evolve, with a focus on ensuring that the journey through New Eden is constantly improving. Whether through balance adjustments, quality-of-life improvements, or player-influenced alterations, the sandbox keeps expanding, and the sky is not the limit but merely the beginning.
Be sure to check out the patch notes for additional information about quality of life changes and bug fixes.
