Fanfest 2023 is bringing pilots from across the globe to Reykjavík to share their passion and friendship, and celebrate 20 incredible years of EVE Online. Marking a major milestone for EVE, the gathering in Iceland’s capital is shaping up to be the most memorable Fanfest yet. And with three new community events just added to the schedule, it’s a place to forge memories you’ll cherish for years.

Before that, if you're curious about coming to the EVE Fanfest 2023, it’s a three-day EVE community festival taking place in Reykjavík, filled with parties, presentations, opportunities to hang out with devs and fellow pilots, insight into what comes next for EVE, and exploration of Iceland’s remarkable landscape and culture. As excitement builds around EVE’s 20th Anniversary, tickets for the Fanfest events are selling faster than ever before. With that in mind, and eager to make this year’s Fanfest an unmissable moment in EVE’s history, the following events have been added:


If you’re looking for a Fanfest event that captures the spirit of what EVE is, you don’t want to miss The (LAN) Party at the Top of the World. It’s a chance to come together and play EVE with old friends and new acquaintances for the first ever Not Fanfest Shoot It (NFSI) roam. Join up to 50 other capsuleers and developers for the biggest EVE Online LAN party ever, at the Arena esports facility in Kópavogur.

The roam will follow the rules of a typical Not Purple Shoot It (NPSI) fleet: players in attendance are expected to put aside their in-game allegiances, form up together and roam as one group whose only loyalty is to each other. Attendees will be using their own player accounts and ships. The fleet compositions being cooked up for the roam will provide fitting options for a range of skill levels and wallet sizes, so if you’re a newer player or don’t have much ISK to throw around there will still be a place for you in the fleet! And whatever your experience, you get a complimentary beer or soda on arrival, and a pizza buffet to fuel your flight time.

The roam will also be livestreamed on CCPTV from Arena’s studio with developer and player hosts, so if you can’t make it to Iceland in person for EVE Online’s milestone 20th birthday Fanfest you can still enjoy the explosions from home. Plus, you might even pick up some sweet prizes while tuning in!

As much as Fanfest 2023 is about celebrating EVE’s 20th anniversary, it’s equally a chance to meet, catch up with, and hang out with your fellow players. So, if you’re feeling social, the Friday Fleet-Up will bring players together for an unforgettable party in downtown Reykjavik's grand Gamla Bíó venue.

Traditionally, what is usually the infamous Fanfest Pub Crawl’s closing party is only open to those that have joined the crawl. This year, though, we’ve moved it to an even bigger venue, letting us welcome even more pilots to the fun. There will be DJs, dancing (we hope!), and a chance to make happy memories with wingmen and New Eden rivals alike – all down the road from the Kaffi Sólon, where the first Fanfest party was held way back in 2004.

When tickets for Fanfest 2023’s Midnight Northern Lights tour were made available, they sold out in in a day. With a view to letting as many pilots as possible see the iconic Icelandic spectacle that is the aurora borealis, a new Northern Lights experience has been added to the Fanfest bill. Join players and EVE devs on chase for the Northern Lights with the Midnight Northern Lights Explorer tour with Devs!

We start our journey at the Harpa concert hall, before driving out of the city with an experienced tour guide, who will lead us to the ideal spots and most favourable conditions for seeing a full aurora borealis display.

The Midnight Northern Lights Explorer tour takes place on 20 September, running from 21:00-to-01:00. Again, if you want to purchase tickets for this separate event, head to the official EVE Fanfest page.




As excitement for Fanfest 2023 builds, a handful of existing extra events still have spots available. There are still slots for partners and other traveling companions to leave their EVE-loving accomplice to it while they explore Iceland on the Sisters of EVE tour. The new launcher offers a more immersive experience by putting your characters front and center, and offering personalized content, in addition to improving security and performance. The updated launcher also enables automatic updates, faster development, and native support for all operating systems and architectures supported by EVE Online. It also offers a more tailored experience that depends on players' familiarity with the game, with new players getting a simplified version and educational content, while veterans can focus on character management and communication.

Let's take a closer look at what the new EVE Launcher has to offer.








Your characters have now taken center stage in the launcher. For each of your accounts, you will see the names and portraits of every pilot under your command. Launching into New Eden will now be faster than ever before. Simply select character and click “Play Now” to launch the game client. You can assign specific characters to launch groups, although this is optional, and you may opt for the Character Selection screen instead. Should you prefer the classic character selection screen, changing it is as simple as opening the settings menu and selecting your preference under Game Client.


Filing a bug report has never been easier – you can now submit one directly from the launcher, with all pertinent support information attached automatically. Keep in mind that a username is necessary, so you must be logged in before filing a bug report.

For other needs, such as requests from our Customer Support, you can generate a "Support Payload," an archive containing relevant logs, crash dumps, and other valuable data for our investigation. These support functions can be found under Settings -> Tools / Cache.




The Beta stage provides ample opportunities to refine and enhance various features before their final debut. Most notably:

• Some sections in character info are blurred out or unavailable. They will contain valuable information about your character and the universe and will be populated as the Beta progresses.
  
• The window size is fixed, but we recognize the importance of being able to resize it and are working to provide a flexible and adaptive window experience in the near future.
  
• To begin with, the new launcher is only available in English. However, support for additional languages is on the horizon and will be introduced in an upcoming update.
  
• As the Beta evolves, you will see the addition of features to facilitate the selection of the right pilot for your fleet and help you stay up-to-date with events that happened while you were away.

When installing the new Beta Launcher, you don't have to remove the legacy EVE Launcher. For those installing the Beta on a system with an existing installation, please consider the following:

• The new installation process requires no input, just give it a few seconds.
  
• When you open the launcher for the first time, it will pick up your game installation folder, accounts and profiles automatically.
  
• Avoid having both launchers open simultaneously to prevent the update procedure from corrupting your installation. If it does happen, the launcher will resolve it automatically.

You have the power to shape the future launcher and what it can do. We will be actively monitoring your feedback, and the final release version may turn out to be quite different from what you see now.

New Eden is about to become even more stunning! A graphical overhaul that will allow for unlimited shadows in scenes is being introduced, and bring a new level of detail to the EVE universe.



Additionally, anti-aliasing will provide smoother edges and vastly reduce "specular aliasing" which manifests itself as pixels which appear to shimmer across frames. This can be especially noticeable on certain ship models and stations, making them appear shinier than they should be. But good news! Improvements are coming to fix this issue and provide a smoother, more visually pleasing experience in EVE Online.

These updates go live on 25 April, but if you want a sneak peek make sure to join the mass test on the Singularity server tomorrow (13 April) at 17:00 UTC.

This year sees the celebration of a momentous milestone - 20 incredible years of EVE Online! As a testament to your commitment and the legacy you have built together over the past two decades, we're expanding the EVE Monument, and now you have a unique opportunity to permanently carve your legacy into New Eden's history.

The expanded monument will be revealed at Fanfest 2023, with all tiles on the current monument renewed, along with an updated webpage that’ll allow you to zero in on the coordinates of the tile containing your legacy.

As you may know, viewers of CCP's Twitch channel are able to use their accumulated channel points to claim the gorgeous GalNet StreamCast SKINs across 12 different hulls. The current batch has been in circulation for some time now and we're pleased to announce the release of 10 fresh new SKINs in the GalNet StreamCast line for CCP Twitch enjoyers.

It's easy! Just keep an eye on our Twitch schedule, livestream event postings on the official Discord, and occasional in-game notifications for certain streams. Then tune in to CCP TV whenever we're live and you'll begin earning channel points just for watching.

Make sure you've registered your in-game name with the Eve2Twitch bot that lurks in our channel. Just type !ign followed by your character name in chat:



Please be aware that the bot can experience difficulty trying to deliver SKINs to names with non-alphanumeric characters in them, so if your main character's name includes things like apostrophes (') or hyphens (-) you should register using the name of an alt. In the event that the bot is unable to successfully complete the delivery of a SKIN, the request will be declined and your channel points refunded.

Once you've accumulated 10,000 channel points you can claim a code for a random GalNet StreamCast SKIN:



Within a few minutes you will receive an in-game evemail to the character you registered on the Eve2Twitch bot containing your code and instructions on how to activate it:



And that's it!

GalNet StreamCast SKINs don't auto inject so you can freely trade them between characters and if you end up with duplicates you can give them away to friends or sell them on the in-game market.

The previous batch of GalNet StreamCast SKINs are being temporarily removed from the bot's database, so that means the next SKIN you claim is guaranteed to be one of the new ones! After a period of time codes for older SKINs will be readded - albeit at a lower ratio - so that new viewers will still have a chance to obtain them.
