A new Abyssal Proving Grounds event opens up from 21 May, running through to 25 May at 11:00 UTC. This event consists of 2v2 battles using the ever-customisable SoCT battlecruiser, the Gnosis.
With the ability to fit and use nearly any weapon system, the last thing to expect in these duels will be a mirror match.
Limitations for this round are: - Ships limited to only the Gnosis - Modules limited to meta level 5 and below - No pirate implants
As always, Proving Filaments are required for participation, collected from Abyssal Deadspace loot drops or bought from the in-game market.
Your performance can be tracked on the Proving Grounds leaderboards, so get out there, win some unique prizes, and bring prestige to your name!
In the last week, we have comprehensively reviewed all the CSM applications to ensure that they met the appropriate guidelines and eligibility requirements. It is with great excitement that we present to you your candidates for the upcoming Council of Stellar Management!
From Wormhole residents to War-Dec corporations, these candidates possess broad knowledge about EVE Online and mean to represent a myriad of different gameplay styles. This information is invaluable to us, and while we look forward to working with CSM 16 there is still much work to be done.
The CSM 16 Campaign Period begins now, 20 May, and runs for just over two weeks until 4 June. During this period, you will be able to learn more about your prospective candidates as they look to earn your vote in the upcoming elections. Each candidate has a forum thread on the EVE Online forums with a brief overview of their platform. Since the CSM elections utilize the STV system, it is possible to select a variety of candidates to vote for.
Learning about CSM candidates is paramount! While many will make themselves available in the EVE media sphere, the CSM campaign threads are a wonderful place to learn more about the prospective candidates, interact with them, and follow along with the campaign.
In a continuation from last year, we will also be hosting brief interviews with the candidates, taking place on 25 May - 28 May, live on CCPTV. We’ll announce the interview schedule on 24 May via Facebook and Twitter, so you’ll know exactly when to tune in to hear your favorite candidate. If you can’t attend live, no need to fear! The VoD will be saved giving you ample opportunity to listen to the interviews for any - or all - of the candidates during the voting period.
A new resource has been launched to enhance the new player experience in EVE! EVE Academy is a website aimed at giving new EVE Online players the best start by providing a tailored learning experience. It provides a wealth of information designed to help new players decide who they want to be in New Eden.
In EVE Academy you will find links to four career paths representing some of the high-level objectives and gameplay styles to aim for as an Explorer, Industrialist, Enforcer (PvE) or Soldier of Fortune (PvP). Within each path you'll get skill plans, beginner ship fitting examples, and curated links to resources created by the EVE Online community. There’s much more to check out so head over and see how the Academy can help you excel at anything in EVE Online.
The site is currently in beta with a baseline of content already available which will be expanded upon over the coming months. Post-launch, the Academy will also be updated with the latest new player relevant information as new features are added to EVE Online. This site is a part of the ongoing effort of welcoming and helping new players find their footing in EVE Online.
EVE Academy was developed in collaboration with players and will improve with input from the EVE community. You can suggest resources, generic and career specific, as well as provide feedback on EVE Academy either directly on the page, or in the forum thread in the EVE Forums.
More sounds of the system have just become available via Spotify, courtesy of CCP Oldboy (Baldur Baldursson).
The 20 atmospheric tracks of this fourth EVE Online release will give you that spaced-out Capsule ambience no matter where you are, leaving you blissfully sailing amidst in the black
“The emotional soundscape of EVE deepens pilot’s immersion, allowing them to lose themselves in the wonders of space,” said CCP Oldboy. “The construct of these compositions varies from tonally rich tracks to pure ambient textures, giving focus to the world that is shaped by the players that inhabit it."
It’s that wonderful time of year - CSM season is well underway! We received many great applications for CSM 16 and we’re making the final preparations to announce your amazing and talented CSM 16 candidates.
Tomorrow, Thursday May 20 at 18:00 UTC we will officially introduce you to the candidates LIVE on CCPTV. While this will be the first meeting of the CSM Candidates, worry not – there will be many opportunities to learn more about the CSM 16 candidates during the campaigning period (20 May – 4 June), both on CCPTV and through several prominent EVE media sources.
The CSM is an incredibly valuable resource for us here at CCP, and we can’t wait to take these first steps with you toward CSM 16.
An update that changes nullification and warp core stabilizer gameplay is now live, granting pilots of selected ships new tactical options.
The updates have ultimately been implemented to bring gameplay depth and subtlety to the use of nullification and warp core stabilizers, ensuring they serve a more meaningful role across EVE Online and its community.
Nullification and warp core stabilizers now stand as active modules with a very short activation time and a substantial cooldown between uses. That means select ships can now use them tactically, rather than limited ships being able to take advantage of nullification and warp core stabilizers.
The following ship classes are compatible with the new modules: Interceptors, Blockade Runners, Deep Space Transports, Tech I Industrials, Covert Ops Frigates, Luxury Yachts, and Strategic Cruisers.
This will work as follows:
Warp Nullification Module
- Interceptors, yachts, and nullification subsystems now have passive nullification removed. - Interceptors, yachts, and nullification subsystems have received a new role bonus: 80% reduced target range penalty and reactivation delay for interdiction nullification modules. - Interceptors, yachts, and nullification subsystems have now received a new role bonus: 100% increased duration for interdiction nullification modules. - Passive nullification has been added to all shuttles. - New blueprints, seeding, and manufacturing data have been added for the new modules.
Warp Core Stabilizers
Warp core stabilizers have been converted to an activated module. Penalties to ship performance remain as a passive effect, and only warp strength is improved when activated.
Warp core stabilizers now carry the following similar statistics: - Warp Core Stabilizer I - Activation cost: 80 Gj - Active Duration: 10 seconds - Reactivation Delay: 150 seconds - Maximum number able to be fitted: 1 - Warp Scramble Strength: -2 - Targeting range reduction: -40% - Scan resolution reduction: -40% - Drone Bandwidth Penalty: -50%
Can be activated whilst under the effect of a stargate cloak.
Be sure to get a feel for how the updated gameplay will let you be a more tactical pilot in your next trip to New Eden!
The brand-new Mobile Observatory is now available for testing on the Singularity test server. This deployable will bring a new tool into the mix for defence against cloaking-based incursions into lowsec and nullsec regions. They will work by periodically pinging system wide, with a chance to decloak cloaked ships which may then be combat scanned and destroyed. To prevent this from having a major effect on active players, a new buff will be applied upon recent activation of your cloak which will offer resistance against the Mobile Observatory.
You can test this new deployable right now on the public test server, Singularity. Connecting to Singularity is as easy as clicking on the server option in the bottom right of the EVE launcher and switching from Tranquility to Singularity. You can then undock and test the functionality of the Mobile Observatory versus cloaked targets.
More information about Singularity can be found in the help article and you can provide valuable feedback in the test server feedback forums.
