We’ve also released a cosmetic pack for the game. If you want to help support the game, and want to look more badass when hitting the wild roads of Alaska, pick up the Mother Truckers Edition DLC for some exclusive truck cosmetics and a brand new character:
Now the game’s out, it’s time to start your journey towards becoming a trucking legend. Survive, drive, and thrive in one of the harshest environments in the world. We can’t wait for you to hit the roads with us - see you in Alaska!
What’s next?
Launching Alaskan Road Truckers doesn’t mean we’re ending our work on the game. We know there’ll be bugs, issues, and stuff to fix - we’ll be continually patching the game over the coming days, weeks, and months to ensure the game experience is everything we intend it to be.
Patching the game is only the start of our support, if you haven’t already - check out our roadmap announcement where you can get a sneak peek at some of the stuff we’ll be adding to the PC version over the next few months: https://store.steampowered.com/news/app/849100/view/5779865497754063927
We’re also going to be working on getting the console version out for release. Console fans - stay tuned, we’ll have news for you very soon.
How you can help
We aren’t making this game alone - your input, feedback, and support has helped us get here. Our community is frankly, amazing, and through playtests and the long wait in getting the game ready for release we’ve been stunned at the support we’ve received.
Now the game is out, there’s a few things you can do to help us make sure that Alaskan Road Truckers is a success.
Leave a Steam Review
After playing the game for a few hours, why not leave us a Steam review? Every review helps us gain visibility which in turn helps the game get in front of more people.
If you love the game, let us know. If you don’t love the game, please also let us know - negative feedback is just as important as positive, and maybe we’ll be able to fix or work on any issues affecting your enjoyment of the game.
But please - do leave a Steam review, we’d love to hear what you think.
Report Bugs and Issues
If you encounter any issues in the game, first please check our support FAQ document - this is a work in progress support article that we’ll be adding to, making sure you have the info you need in order to enjoy Alaska.
If your issue isn’t there, or it isn’t fixed by the steps listed there, please let us know. You can do so either here on Steam or in our Discord. Please let us know as much information as possible, everything helps us to help you.
Spread the Word
Tell a friend! Tell two friends! Hire a plane to do skywriting!
OK, maybe not that last one.
But word of mouth is the most important way to support Alaskan Road Truckers. If you have a friend who’d enjoy the game, let them know about it. If you have social media, why not do a post. We’re incredibly grateful to all the fans who’ve supported us so far - and we’re grateful for everyone who continues to support us.
Buy or Wishlist the Game!
Finally, buying the game helps us make sure we can continue to support it, adding content and fixing issues into the future. If you cannot do that now - or don’t want to - please add us to your Steam wishlist, it all helps.
Tomorrow will see Alaskan Road Truckers launch onto PC. After years of waiting and hard work, we’re ready to send our Alaskan baby out into the world for the very first time. We can’t wait to hear what you think about our game - but before we launch, we’ve got some news for you.
We want you to all know that when you pick up Alaskan Road Truckers, you’re taking a journey with us. That journey doesn’t end on the 18th of October; it’s just beginning, for us, for the game, and for you!
We plan to keep updating Alaskan Road Truckers after it launches, both in terms of patches and bug fixes, but also with new content and stuff to see and do.
Here’s what we’ve currently got planned - it’s time to check out…

Stay in Touch
The best way to help us in supporting Alaskan Road Truckers into the future is to wishlist us over on our Steam Store page - or if you’re reading this after the 18th of October, why not pick up a copy and join us in Alaska!
We’re fast approaching our PC launch date of October 18 and we’ve been working nonstop to take on board all the feedback we received during our playtests and make sure Alaskan Road Truckers is ready to hit the road.
With a couple of days to go - here’s what’s currently happening with Alaskan Road Truckers!
Community Updates
The feedback, bug reports, and other ideas we’ve received from our community has been amazing. We’ve made tons of updates following our recent playtests, here’s some changes our community has requested that we’ve been able to implement already:
Snow markers in the North of the map - The real Dalton Highway has snow markers to make sure you’re driving on the road when things get a little cold. We enjoyed not being able to see the road when it’s snowing but we decided, after getting some feedback, that this wasn’t enjoyable for everyone. So snow markers are in - you’ll know exactly where the road is, no matter the weather.
Mouse won’t interrupt steering wheel - During playtests when you nudged your mouse, it would interrupt inputs from steering wheels. This wasn’t actually a bug, in fact it was a setting that was togglable in the options. However, after reports that this was bothering players, we decided to remove the option and make it so that when you’re using a steering wheel, you won’t find it disconnected by mouse movements anymore.
Camera centering - Some players didn’t enjoy having the camera center itself automatically when driving. So we’ve made it a button instead! If you want to be looking straight ahead, just hit the assigned key and you’ll be staring straight ahead. If not - there’ll be no interruptions.
Where’s the snow? - The playtest started players near the beginning of Spring. While we don’t want to throw players in at the deep end, we do know that many of you are anxious to get stuck into the colder parts of the year. As a result of this feedback, players will now start a new game at the beginning of Summer, meaning Winter and all its hazards is that much closer.
Force feedback - One of the key bits of feedback we received was that force feedback was too strong. We don’t want to shake your desk to pieces, so we’ve made improvements to ensure different types of steering wheels have appropriate levels of force feedback.
In addition to those changes, we’ve made tons of fixes, updates, and tweaks to the game. And more will be coming! Our work on Alaskan Road Truckers isn’t finished at launch, we’re going to add to the game, fix bugs, and be working on it before, during, and after the game comes out. So keep your feedback coming - especially after launch. As Frasier Crane says: we’re listening.
Review us on Steam
Speaking of feedback, we have a request to make. After you’ve played the game for at least 2-3 hours please leave a Steam review. Steam reviews are critical to a game’s success; the more reviews we get, the more visibility we get, and the more people will see it. The more people see the game, the better we’ll do, and the better we do, the more we can support and expand our game.
Please note we’re not asking for you to leave a positive review. We want you to voice your honest opinion about the game. If you love it (and we hope you will), we want to hear that. If you don’t - then we want to hear that too.
So if you can, please leave us a Steam review once the game is out and you’ve played it for a few hours. You can always edit your opinion or expand upon it later, should you so wish.

Our Open Playtest has now ended - meaning if you downloaded the playtest you will no longer be able to launch it.
We wanted to share our thanks to everyone who took part, streamed, gave feedback, and got involved in any way. This weekend has been incredible - seeing players get their hands on the game and begin hitting the roads in the rough and wild region of Alaska.
From a development standpoint, there is no way to overstate our useful this playtest has been for us. We are a small indie development team and while we've tested our game a lot, getting it out into the open with thousands of players has meant the game has been tested like never before.
Every bit of feedback you have sent in has been read and we're working on fixing the things that need fixing, sanding off the rough edges, and getting our game ready for release.
If you've played the playtest and wouldn't mind giving us a bit more information, we have two surveys we're asking players to fill out. Thank you in advance!
We aren't making Alaskan Road Truckers alone - you are part of our team and your comments, queries, and reports are making all the difference. So from everyone here at Road Studio, Movie Games, and Green Man Gaming Publishing - thank you.

If you'd like to keep up to date with everything happening in our game, including some secret announcements we've got coming soon, then add us to your wishlist on Steam and hit us up on our social channels!
Whew! Saturday was something. The first day of the open playtest brought us much-required feedback - and a lot of fixes. We've been fixing the game in real-time, reading and watching you on Discord and on your streams. This is becoming a tradition for us, isn't it?
Moreover, overnight we created a new build with even more fixes and improvements! So if you played at the start of our playtest, here's what has changed.
Batteries are available at most gas stations and not only in stores
Fixes to invisible bumps on some roads
Fix for the camera prediction resetting itself to "off"
Some traffic fixes (still WIP)
Bugs fixes in Cantwell, Paxson, and Palmer
Fixed the part of the road leading to Prudhoe Bay
More items in stores from the clerks
Invisible road bump fixes
Fix for the crash when you eat certain items from inside the truck
Improved gear 6 and 8 behavior
Some landscape fixes
Day-night lighting improvements
Additional traffic improvements
CB radio loan system fixes
Removed requirement of the engine being off when (de)coupling a trailer
Steering animation fix
Reduction of sliding on some surfaces
AMD GPUs graphic bug fix
We also know about many other issues that are in the works. These include:
Battery depleting too quickly
Newly bought trucks not working properly
Wheel turning speed is too low (ultimately we think we'll go with an option with a slider, but we'll speed it up by default first)
Remaining AI wonkiness
Steering wheel detection problems for some models (try running the game in admin mode, it often helps)
Force feedback being too strong (FFB options in the works!)
We might be able to include at least some of those before the playtest is over.
If you want to support us, wishlist Alaskan Road Truckers, follow us, and tell your friends about it.
Thank you all for testing with us and helping make the game better!
This playtest has now finished - thank you to everyone who has taken part!

Stay in Touch
With only two weeks to go, the best way to stay in touch with everything Alaskan Road Truckers is to wishlist us - then you'll be all ready to start your trucking adventure on the 18th!
There are less than three weeks to go until we launch on Steam. Three weeks! We can barely believe it. We are so excited to be able to release our game into the wild and have you all play it - we hope you’re as excited as we are.
Last week we talked about how Alaskan Road Truckers fits into the field of trucking games, this week we’re going to look at how it compares to simulation games. We’re going to answer the question - is Alaskan Road Truckers a simulation game?
What is a simulation game?
It’s surprisingly hard to pin down what makes a simulation game a simulation game. It’s an incredibly broad category of gaming, containing games as diverse as Gas Station Simulator, The Sims, and Stardew Valley. Despite allowing players to experience things in a huge variety of ways, there is one thing that unites all simulation games - they simulate an experience.
That experience can be as large as designing, building, and managing your own city or as small as living the moment-to-moment experience of a singular person doing a job. Simulation games are all about putting you into a role and giving you the tools to experience it, most often with a degree of fidelity to real life.
Sims and Alaskan Road Truckers
So the question is: where does Alaskan Road Truckers fit into the simulation genre?
Do we simulate an experience? Yes. Alaskan Road Truckers is all about putting you in the shoes (and skin) of an Alaskan trucker. You’ll live, eat, drive, and exist as a trucker, and as a result, many things are simulated. Weather, driving conditions, hunger, energy, health - they’re all in the game, and they make the game step into the simulation space. So on the surface, Alaskan Road Truckers is a simulation game.
That said, we would hesitate to brand Alaskan Road Truckers as pure simulation. We’re focusing more on recreating the feel of being an Alaskan trucker rather than recreating every minute aspect of owning a truck or running a trucking business. We want you to feel like a rugged trucker, working through storms and against the odds to deliver your cargo, we don’t want you to feel like you have a never-ending spreadsheet of tasks to complete before you get to the fun stuff. This is a game inspired by real life, it isn’t a recreation of real life.
We spoke last week about how we’re not aiming to take the crown of trucking sims, and that’s still true. We are an indie team making an indie game and our ambitions are big but still modest. We’re making the best Alaskan trucker experience ever, we aren’t making the most high-fidelity simulation game ever made.
Every aspect of our game has been designed to put you in those trucking boots, and we think you’ll be pleased with the look, sound, feel, and level of simulation we’ve put into the game.
Playtests? Playtests.
We’ve been running limited closed playtests with parts of our community, and we’ve got more planned! If you’d like to take part, the first step is to join our Discord, where you’ll find info on how to sign up: http://”https://discord.gg/7nzKkAVgN4”
