The content update arriving in December will have four new weapons, including this sawn-off shotgun.

The update will also introduce a new combat system and a heap of bug fixes. I'm really excited about it, I'm working as fast as I can to get it out to you guys! :)

I've been quiet lately because I've been working on the new combat system, and I'm pleased to say that I'm really happy with the progress. I'm hoping to have a beta ready for testing by early November, with general release of the new build in early December.

If you have a copy of the game and would like to join the closed beta group, just drop me a message on Steam chat. I'll add you and message you when it starts.

There's a *lot* of stuff in the update! The biggest addition is lock-on targeting - this has been probably the most-requested feature. Since Lux can now run around enemies while targeting them and firing, it's much easier to clear the battlefield, so I'll be increasing the difficulty significantly.

The aim reticule is now consistent and much easier to see, and you can aim down iron sights if you want. Lux can now reload while moving, and there are four new weapons, including an RPG. Also, the assault rifle (and new SMG) are now fully automatic (not just burst fire).

There are also several more features coming in this update: new configurable options in the menu, new animations, changes to the HUD, more vibrant colours on many of the outfits, etc.

I think you guys will like it. Everything really feels more fluid and responsive.

Build 20180831 is now live on Steam, and Lux now has manual control over her flashlight. You can toggle the flashlight by pressing F on the keyboard (it’s remappable), or by pressing the Left Stick Button on your controller.

The game will still automatically switch the flashlight on and off at certain locations, but you can override that using this new functionality. As always, please let me know if you run into any issues. :)

The first 10 Early Access players can submit a photo which will appear in the living room of Lux’s parents’ home, mounted in a picture frame. You can send anything that’s legal and clean: yourself, your pet, whatever.

The fine print: we reserve the right to reject your picture if it’s not appropriate. You must own copyright of the pic and you give us permission to use it in the game (but nowhere else).

To participate, just be one of the first 10 players to email or message me (pete@basedontheplay.com) after the game goes live at 5pm PDT on Thursday August 30. :)

Hey all,

I’ve decided to delay the release by two weeks: we’ll now be releasing on August 30.

The game is ready to go right now, but another two weeks will give me time to implement some important bug fixes and performance enhancements. There’s also some new content I’d really like to add to the game before it goes live.

Although it’s Early Access, I’d like the game to be its best before you experience it for the first time.

Hang in there, it won’t be much longer! ːsteamhappyː

Hey all, just a quick note to let Mac users know that the macOS version has been delayed - we’ll only be releasing the Windows version next week.

We still need to do more optimisation on the Mac version to get it to an acceptable level of performance. We’re working on it, and should be able to get a performant Mac version out there very soon - just hang in there! :)
