In Super Animal Royale Tonight Episode 4, you might have noticed Donk and Howl running through a new region of the island, and as of today’s update you can now play in the caves of Superite Mountain!
Superite Mountain and its cave system is one of our biggest map updates yet, filled with backstory to discover and narrow passageways to fight in! And it’s not the only part of the map that has changed. We’ve also overhauled the rest of the island to include more loot in less dense areas, and special story-related additions that we’ll let you discover on your own. You might just meet a familiar NPC!
Super Rats & Bats
It’s only fitting that alongside the caves, Super Bats are joining the fight as our second level 30 breed in the Research Lab! And although the prisoner from SAR Tonight 4 claims he’s not a rat, you can now fight for the top of the food chain as a Super Rat or Mouse, available to create in the lab at level 10.
We also have plans to refine the Research Lab soon in a future update, so level 30 base animals will unlock quicker once that update is complete. In the meantime it'll be an extra significant achievement to be one of the first few who earns the Super Bat!
Hamsterball Physics 2.0 & Parachuting Boost
The handling of hamsterballs has been refined and improved! Hamsterballs now bounce off walls and environmental objects, so now rather than coming to a standstill you'll be able to bounce on your merry way! You can now parachute longer and further than before to reach points of interest further away from the Giant Eagle's flight path.
Super Stealth Roll
Shhh: a new, quieter roll has been added while holding CTRL. The Super Stealth Roll can be activated by rolling while you’re sneaking, allowing you to move quickly into cover while keeping things stealthy. Your roll may be quieter, but you’ll still make some sound and attentive Super Ears will be able to hear it if they’re paying attention.
Squads Weekend
You can gather up your packs for our Squads test weekend from Friday, June 28th to Monday, July 1st! We’ll be disabling Duos in the meantime, but it’ll return on Tuesday.

We've been working on next week's update for a long time, so we're super excited to debut brand new points of interest on the island, filled with history and tight indoor corridors. And next week's update will also include new gameplay mechanics, new Super Animals, and more! As always, building this game is a collaborative process with you so the update also includes refinements based on your feedback and we can't wait to hear your feedback once you try out everything new!
Our latest update is live! The new Super Ferrets and Super Hedgehogs have joined the fight, and they’ve brought with them rainbow hats and umbrellas so you can show off your Pride in-game! Just enter the code “love” in the main menu to unlock them.
This update is on the smaller side as we prep for a major new update in 2 weeks, but we hope you enjoy all the new animals and items!

Made an improvement to the issue of ghost bullets: the game client will accelerate enemy bullets so they match the actual bullet on the server. We evaluated several different ways we could improve it, as clientside movement is a large part of it, but this should be a good first step.
Hamster ball hitbox adjusted to better match its shape and size.
Skunk grenades now drop from mole crates.
All grenades and tape now have a 3-pack visual.
Fix for bots sometimes not targeting closer enemies.
Bots walking through walls should be fixed but let us know if you still see it happen.
Bots shouldn't clip corners as much now.
Russian translation fixes.
Newspaper melee weapon updated.

A new weapon has arrived (feathers included). The new Deagle gun comes in epic and legendary varieties, with legendaries being exclusive to mole crates. The epic (purple) version of the deagle replaces the epic magnum, and one of its most significant differences from the magnum is that it can remove 2 ticks of armor per shot. Deagles provide a more mobile alternative to snipers, retaining more accuracy while running and rolling.

During this squads test weekend, for the debut of the Deagle, we’re guaranteeing a Deagle drop in every mole crate so you can all enjoy trying it out! We also recently added Discord invites that work between both free and paid editions, so it’s a great weekend to introduce new friends to the game!

In addition to the new gun, new Super Animals, and squads weekend, we’ve added a bunch more quality of life improvements:
New 3D positional sound system: many sounds such as gunshots now have their frequencies customized so that they sound clearly lower when below the player, and higher when above.
Maximum game lobby time reduced to 140s (down from 170s) to get games starting as quickly as possible. We ran some tests and found that 140s would improve waiting times while also having very little impact on the total number of players in a match.
Overhauled the entire character animations file to be drastically more efficient/performant. Let us know if any cosmetics appear incorrect!
Fixed invisible collision above the bamboo resort houses.
Added new specific fonts for Korean and Chinese. For some users the font may appear the same as before.
Translation fixes.
Minor changes to the Discord parties code to fix certain cases where matchmaking could fail.

INVITE YOUR FREE EDITION FRIENDS TO YOUR SQUAD
Discord parties are here! We heard you loud and clear, and came up with a way for you to invite your Super Free Edition friends to join a party with you.
Last update, we added Discord Rich Presence so you can see if your friends are in a game, what mode they’re playing, and how many players are still alive. Steam invites still only work in the full game (Steam parties don’t work between demos and full games) but as of this week, you can now invite your friends to a Discord party with you, regardless of whether they have the full game or the Super Free Edition!
SUPER OTTER JOINS THE FIGHT
Super Otter has arrived on the island and is accompanied by 5 alternative Super Otter breeds, bringing the total number of Super Animal breeds up to 157! As of today you’ll be able to create the following new breeds in the Research Lab once you reach level 15:

Today, Duos mode returns, and as we mentioned in our post about our 100k users milestone, Super Animal Royale continues to grow steadily thanks to your kind Steam reviews, sharing of the game, and supportive behavior in-game towards new players, so it shouldn’t be too much longer before we can enable all 3 modes permanently! In the meantime, you can look forward to the next Squads Weekend alongside our next update that is dropping in less than 2 weeks on Friday, May 17th.
Lastly, we’ve also added a couple small improvements tonight that you can read about below (the new cages in the Research Labs feel particularly nice and are more clear about how they block bullets). See you all on the island!
v0.87.5 Patch Notes
Duos mode has returned! The next squads weekend will be on May 17th.
Six Super Light Swords have been added to the drop table (arrived on May 4th).
We’ve also improved the Super Light Sword sound effects slightly in tonight's update.
Updated the cages in the Research Lab buildings to have more visible bars and shadows. We felt that the previous cages weren’t visually clear enough about how they interacted with bullets, so we turned them into clear bars that interact with line of sight shadows. The bars block bullets/vision, and the gaps between them do not.
The Bamboo and Beakeasy stage shows can now be triggered while waiting for the game to start in the lobby.
Adjusted some of the cover and crates in each of the three Research Lab buildings.
Your skunk bombs will now play the hit sound whenever they damage an enemy.
Improved background color of legendary items in the menu (thanks to Ashyfox in our Discord for the suggestion!).
Fix for grenades warping out of some unwalkable areas like the Bamboo Resort pond.
Improved character tails warping while shooting.
Fix for rare glitch of unbreakable crates/doors.
Fixed character clipping issue with a few tables in the Welcome Center.
Slightly increased player collisions on the Research Lab's SAW sign.

What’s that smell? That’s the smell of victory, Super Skunks.
Super Skunks join the fight this weekend and they’ve brought a new weapon with them. Super Skunk gas doesn’t just come from the edges of the map anymore, you can now deploy it strategically using Skunk Bombs. This third explosive weapon joins grenades and bananas in your utility slot, so choose wisely.
We’re also kicking off the weekend with another Squads weekend, so you can invite the rest of your best smelling friends to join in the fun! Squads weekend will take place until May 6th and then Duos mode will be back.
And you’ll want to make sure you visit the island on Saturday, May 4th! Today’s update isn’t the last thing we have up our sleeves for this weekend...but patience you must have, Super Animals.

If you've stacked up any duplicates or cosmetics items you don't care for, we have a brand new system for you to make use of them. In the Customize screen you'll now be able to trade in 5 items of the same rarity (or 3 legendary items) to get a new item of a higher rarity!

Weapon recoil while moving now applies on a per-weapon basis: smaller weapons such as pistols and SMG have less, and larger weapons like the AK, M16 and Sniper have more recoil while moving.
All special items (from events, milestones, etc) have a new orange tier of rarity and cannot be traded up.
Customize screen now shows what type of event, milestone or other category an item is from.
Coconuts can now be eaten while at full health. Because of this, daily challenges and milestones for coconuts have been adjusted.
Hiding the interface in-game will now also hide health bars, interaction text, and ammo/pickup text.
Added "OK TO ALL" button on the end game item rewards.
Customize icons decreased in size so 6 columns can be shown.
Corgi icons updated.
Bots now roll during regular movement.
Slightly lowered maximum pursuit distance for bots.

Fix for Super Robin art bug in-game.

Birds of a feather can now kill together in the all new avian-themed Giant Eagle Landing zone. Join us in flocking to this new area, and make use of the overhauled progression system that includes new super challenges, DNA magnets, and a squads weekend to top it all off!!

The very first Super Birds are arriving on the island: 24 new feathery combatants bring the total Super Animal count up to 140! There are 4 new species (each with their own DNA), spread out through the Research Lab’s progression, and multiple breeds to create after you’ve earned each of them:

GIANT EAGLE LANDING
The Super Birds arrive alongside their very own avian-themed land, Giant Eagle Landing, with fine establishments like Beakeasy (a seedy nightclub), Eggsotic Cuisine, Flappy Jacks, and the Giant Eagle Rides attraction. It’s a wonderful time to visit Super Animal World’s island, especially since Spring has sprung and the new cherry blossom trees are in bloom!
SUPER DNA MAGNETS
The Giant Feathery Update also adds the “Super DNA Magnet” item to the game, which enables players to focus all of their DNA earning on a specific animal for the next 3 matches. Each game played has a random chance of dropping one, and daily challenges will award them too! As a special thank you for supporting us in Early Access and being an awesome community, we’ve given all of you 3 Super DNA Magnets to try out (which will give you 9 games total of focused DNA earning)!
DAILY SUPER CHALLENGES
And the new Super Challenges system, debuting today, provides a new way to earn items including the new Super DNA Magnets. Completing tasks such as getting kills with a magnum, chopping tall grass to find items, or eating coconuts will earn you bigger and bigger rewards as the difficulty of the challenge ramps up. You’ll unlock a new challenge every day, stacking up to a maximum of three, and we’re starting you all off with a full 3 challenges. In addition to earning Super DNA Magnets from challenges, you’ll also be able to earn Animal DNA and Super Serum, and if you get a challenge you don’t like, you’ll be able to re-roll once per day to replace it with a new challenge!
SQUADS WEEKEND
Last but not least, you can gather up your flocks because we’re hosting a Squads weekend from April 5th-8th! We’ll be disabling Duos in the meantime, but it’ll return on Tuesday. Thank you so much for all of your help spreading the word about the game and continuing to bring new Super Animals into the fold! We’re excited to be able to enable all 3 modes permanently in the near future, and we keep making progress towards that goal with your help.
