Summary

Hello all, it's been a while since the last update, as you may found, in NavalArt's Steam Workshop page, there is a new category for mods, that means workshop integration for mods has finally been added to the game.

Mods don't work with v0.8, in order to make mods work, firstly you need to enable and download the 0.9 public beta, which can be found in your Steam inventory, right click on NavalArt, choose Properties - Betas - and select the beta branch.

Since mod support has been added in last year , a lot of nice and fun mods have been created by our active and supportive mod community, so I decided to bring it to workshop, make it easier for every player to share the enjoy of mods, and make the game a better naval sand box platform.

There isn't many mods in the workshop yet because, the upload function has only been opened for less than 24 hours, you may need to wait for a period before more high quality mods appear.



By default the mods are disabled, you need to enable it by using the Mods window in the game menu, and you will need to restart the game

To answer a more important question, when will aircraft carriers come? Well, as you can see below, a lot of new stuffs, like custom parts(subassemblies), rigging tool, a new armor system, huge optimizations, a smoother free camera for cinematic purpose are now avaliable in the game. The major program structure for aircraft carriers have also been nearly finished, along with a two missile launchers, they exists in code they are just not playable yet, I will started to work on finish that two system right after this article has been posted. So don't worry, the next version will come soon.

The Next
There might exists some bug after a major version update, they will be fixed in the next couple of days by several patches. The next version will be Early Access Version 0.9, the major topics are aircraft carrier systems, fog of war systems. The contents which shall be added to the game after the next version are : Mission editor, multi-player, Steam workshop support for mods, and some other fun stuffs. Preface

To begin with, thank you all for playing and supporting this game! As you may have noticed, the game got frequent updates recently, and has improved a lot in terms of quality. It’s because the dev has decided to resign his job and now is focusing on developing NavalArt. The game is predicted to be finished in about one year, and I will keep the promise, no in-App purchase or extra payment will be added to the game.

Currently I am working on update 0.8, which will bring water planes and a more interesting detection system to the game. Meanwhile a major update usually comes along with a lot of small improvements. For example, a huge frame rate improvement has been done in the Quick Battle mode after the last update, also, a free camera has been added in the battle scene.

In the early stage of the development, the game got a lot of “Not Recommended” comments, but I believe you know, the completion of the game is made from huge amount of time, meanwhile I also have listened and followed the community’s suggestions and feedbacks to a certain extent. After carefully considered, a lot of requirements and advice from our player have already becomes functional features which exist in the game now. Hence, I believe after one year, NavalArt could become the best game in the area of Naval Sandbox!




Roadmap

Below are the two major udpates which will come soon:

Version 0.8 : Water planes

version 0.9: Aircraft Carriers

After above content has done, I will start working on Single-player campaigns, Multi-player (based on Steam friends, and PVE focused), and Morden weapons, the order of them has not been decided yet, each udpate will take around 2 months. After then, the game has been basically finished. Maybe a few more dlc about Sailboat, ironclads, or space ships.

Summary

This update brings the game a new building system, dual-purpose guns are now functional. Meanwhile several modern weapons have been added, a new turret spread sheet is now applied in the game, along with the first version of detection system. Mod tool has been updated, a lot of bugs have also been fixed in this update.
