Dear friend,
I haven't wrote to you since I came back from the Boderlands. I was invited to join the archaeological team to Crusade Relic located in southern Boderlands. Hundreds of years ago, searing fires and mountains of dead bodies covered this mysterious land. However it has already became a land of nowhere.



1.Demesne Spearmen/ Spear Sergeants



Compared with eastern spearmen, Demesne Spearmen and Spear Sergeants has a shield with poor block capability however a longer spear that sometimes could even interrupted cavalry charge when units forming up to brace.

2.Squires



I tried so hard to excavate something useful however only found countless bones. Compared with eastern shortsword & shield units, Squires could attack while blocking enemies at the same time, which means they’re good at both attacking and defending. Someone told me that Squires suffered huge losses during the Crusade since this unit was once considered as the main force of Chivalric Units.

3.Men-at-Arms



One scholar in the archaeological team knew about all the background history and secrets of the Crusade. He told us that the main leader of the Crusade were royal knights from different western countries. The Men-at-Arms unit has well-made armour, tight formation and superior capability of melee fights. Besides that, they also could be trained to recover unit health, more powerful to survive in continuous fights.

4.Monastic Knights



According to old legends, Monastic Knights was known as a unit with dozens of horrible killers and undefeated warriors. What surprised us most was those battle records that Monastic Knights charged into enemies with their shining silver heavy armour, holding polished weapons or waving crusade flags. Hundreds of years ago, Monastic Knights have defended their homeland and conquered countless cities across the open world.

Story of Maltese Cross



When the Archaeological team was about to leave, one local resident shared this story with us.

There once was a plain called Cross Insignia in the west of Ungverija, a secret location where the Crusades gathering and lining up their units. There were hundreds of thousands of wooden stakes in the middle of plain, hanging cross insignia with different names engraved on it. It is said that once a young man from western europe took part in the Crusades, he set a wooden stake here to make sure other fellows could bring back his cross insignia and hang in the stake to remind his family that he already dead on the battlefield as a brave warrior.

As time goes by, more and more crusaders set their wooden stakes in Cross Insignia plain and most of them never came back.

Sometimes I would image that sorrowful moment when few old women went through bunches of wooden stakes, praying for their husband or son. After years of chaos, only two thing left for them, a cross insignia and a lonely homeland.

Now historians from different regions still have heated discussions about the Crusades. However I’ll be more willing to write down some stories of these brave crusaders. After receiving plenary indulgences from the church and taking a public vow, they just step into the chaos with their loyalty and faith.

Dear Warlords:

I am one of the battle designers in Conqueror’s Blade: Frontier.
It’s time to share some balance adjustments for next update. Your suggestions are always welcome and appreciated.



1.Unit Balance Adjustments
These adjustments were made due to the following two bug fixes:
1)Fixed a bug that Winged Hussars’ charge couldn’t be interrupted by projectiles from Crossbowmen/Javelineers/Arquebusiers units.

2)Fixed a bug where Lancer’s damage synchronization in charge was delayed which resulted in location of damage dealt was incorrect. As follow gif:



We are guessing that these adjustments might affect the battlefield performance of several units. After several rounds of tests, we confirmed that relevant effects are as follows:
a.The charge loss of lancer (especially winged hussars) would be reduced when they charging into Pikemen and Halberdiers units in brace.

b.When Lancer and Melee infantry charging against each other, now Lancer would have significant advantages.

c.Winged Hussars will no longer be totally suppressed by Imperial Pike Guards advance. Now both units suffer certain losses at the same time.

After several rounds of test, we found that Winged Hussars were overperforming on the battlefield as the above-mentioned bug has been fixed. So we are planning to make the following adjustments:
-Decreased piercing defence by 60 and blunt defence by 80
-Increased the distance of damage dealt by 0.8 meters for the advance of Imperial Pike Guards.

2.Bug Fixes and Optimizations
1)Fixed a bug that the actual effect of Sprint did not in line with relevant description in doctrines.

2)Fixed the incorrect description of Fortitude (veterancy point of Cataphract Lancers). “During charging, it couldn’t be stunned by normal attacks” was adjusted to “During charging, it couldn’t be interrupted by projectiles from Crossbowmen, Javelineers and Arquebusiers units.”

3)Fixed the incorrect move speed of Tercio Arquebusiers. Adjusted the actual move speed to 5m/s.

1.New Epic Mission---“Until the Blood Cold”(PVE)


Enemy Commander conducted a surprise ambush. The city was at risk due to insufficient troops. Please help Commander Wu to defend the city till the end in the final stage of the Prefecture Guards epic mission.

During each battle, Warlords can kill enemies to earn Warhonor and exchange for advanced artillery in Warhonor Sergent (Advanced artillery will expire after each battle). In addition, incomplete notes from the first king and other rewards are also available.

Added exclusive badges for this level:
Twice Repay:Kill 2 enemy bosses in Until the Blood Cold
Fire on Command:Use artillery to kill 40 enemy soldiers in Until the Blood Cold

2.Weekly Quest Rewards Adjustments
Some Warlords said the random drop rate of Treatises in Fine Campaign Reward had huge damage to their game experience. Now Warlords can get Treatises from the following weekly chests with a specific drop rate (Treatises are no longer available in fine campaign reward). Our adjustments are as follows:
Page’s Gift: 100% 1 Treatise
Squire’s Gift: 100% 2 Treatises
Knight’s Gift: 100% 2 Treatises
Marshal’s Gift: 100% 2 Treatises

Warlords who have already got some rewards from above-mentioned chests before this update will receive Treatise compensations by mail within one week.

In addition, we also reduced the retrieval price for On Campaign quests:
On Campaign Ⅰ: 40 sovereigns (previously 50)
On Campaign Ⅱ: 80 sovereigns (previously 100)
On Campaign Ⅲ: 80 sovereigns (previously 100)

3.Seasonal Challenges Optimizations
After checking your feedbacks, we decided to reduce the difficulty of some Seasonal challenges. Our adjustments are as follows:
1)Removed the difficulties requirement of Expedition Ⅰ,Ⅱ,Ⅲ
2)In Field Battle mode, defeat 50 shield-wielding enemy soldiers (previously eastern spearmen)

Warlords who have already completed “defeat 50 eastern spearmen” and some challenges in Expedition Ⅱ,Ⅲ before this update will receive extra seasonal XP rewards by mail within one week.

4.Purchase Limit of “Letter of the First King”
In order to make it easier for Warlords to get more rewards and higher Nobility in the last week of Season Eve. We decided to remove the Purchase Limit of “Letter of the First King”.

5.Personal Storage Modification Supply
Now Warlords can use 200,000 silver coins to buy “Personal Storage Modification Supply” from Smuggler

6.Newbie Tutorial Optimizations
1)Optimized the tutorial after Warlords entering main city. Simplified some side quests. Newbies can upgrade more quickly than before.
2)Optimized the [Valen’s Last Stand] level: reduced the difficulty by adding few trebuchets to help Warlords win this battle.
3)Optimized the [The Battle On the Plain] level: Enemy eastern spearmen units have been adjusted to pikemen units.
4)Optimized the [Battle at the Storehouse] level: Added some tips for artillery and Powder Keg. Added a warning alarm when Trebuchet is approaching. Warlords can also skip this level.

7.Level Balance Adjustments: White Elk
By October 30, White Elk has experienced 2,963 siege battles. The win ratio of attackers is 44.21%. Among that, the win ratio of attackers over level 100 is 46.22%, lower than we expected. After checking your feedbacks and having internal tests, we made the following adjustments:
For attackers:
1)Move middle two Trebuchets to the left. Attackers now can use Trebuchet to attack from both sides without being blocked by high buildings in the middle of battlefield.
2)Move point A closer to the intersection.
For defenders:
1)Move the base flag closer to the intersection.
2)Move one supply point inside the building instead of being totally exposed to enemy’s ranged attacks.
3)Add a new supply point in defenders’ respawn area. Defenders still have chance to choose new units even if they got surrounded in the base.



8.Level Optimizations
1)Optimized the setting of some Hwacha Arrow Launcher in the city wall of Wall Fort so they couldn’t be blocked by buildings.
2)In PVE level, optimized the style and color of health bar and icon on top of AI allies, making it easier for Warlords to distinguish between allied Warlords and AI allies.



9.Bug Fixes
1)Unit Bugs
a.Fixed a bug that the damage buff of some veterancy points did not take effect correctly in field and siege battles.
b.Fixed a bug that Mounted Crossbow Cavalry couldn’t charge in column formation
c.Fixed the incorrect attack speed of Ironcap Bowriders while Warlords spamming follow(c) orders.
d.Unified the model of Demesne Archer in Unit Tree interface and battlefield.

2)Miscellaneous Bugs
a.Fixed the overlapping interface when Warlords open season homepage while collecting resources.
b.Fixed the incorrect horn sound effect while city wall being broken.
c.Fixed a bug that sometimes Warlords got stuck near the city wall in Hovd.

Sovereign Military Order of Malta (Sovereign Military Hospitaller Order of Saint John of Jerusalem, of Rhodes and of Malta), also known as Knights Hospitaller, was founded after the First Crusade in 1099. Then it became chartered as a military order to protect against Islamic persecution of Christians. As the world's oldest surviving chivalric order, it has been called "the smallest sovereign state in the world".

Motto: "Tuitio Fidei et Obsequium Pauperum" (Defence of the faith, Assistance to the suffering)

The cross of the Sovereign Military Order of Malta, also known as the "Maltese Cross", was developed from earlier forms of eight-pointed crosses in black and white.

1. Seasonal titles contest and rewards
1). Outstanding Houses and their record will be listed on the career and Hall of Fame, which will be engraved in the history of Conqueror's Blade : Frontier and respected by all Warlords.

2). Warlords in these Houses will get special seasonal titles, which will directly symbolize their preeminent achievements.

In this settlement, there are mainly two titles:
[Fief Seignior] represents the highest honor for House
To become a Fief Seignior, Houses need to meet all of the following rules:

Rule A: The House was the last owner of the fief in Season settlements
Rule B: During the season eve, it has continuously occupied the fief for more than two weeks.
Rule C: The fief has reached certain level requirements in Season settlements.
(Village: level 7, City: level 6, Fort: level 5)

[Fief Patricians] is available for those houses only in line with Rule A..

Please noted: Now on our SEA battlefield, [Fief Seignior] and [Fief Patricians] title of one certain Fief is an exclusive rewards for one House. Maybe you have to fight for it in another way after we launch other server in SEA region.

When their Houses becoming Fief Seignior or Fief Patricians, House members who have participated in the house more than 1 week and accumulative contribution (tithes) over 200 will get relevant titles and benefits, which means in next season, regardless of the fief ownership, they still have preferential tax rate for crafting and collecting resources in that fief.

1.Season Eve important updates
1)Season Eve Extension
In order to let Warlords have more time to complete seasonal challenges and get more seasonal rewards, we decided to extend Season Eve for two more weeks. Season Eve will officially end at Oct 18.

2)New weekly challenges
We added some new weekly challenges including exploration in the open world and equipment crafting for week 6 and week 7.

3)Weekly challenges refresh
Now Warlords can choose one weekly challenge and click “refresh” to get a random new challenge, however the relevant rewards remain unchanged. Warlords only have two chances per week.



4)Nobility Cap
The “Letter of the First King” will no longer be available for Warlords with Nobility over level 200. We will release an announcement soon to make compensations for those Warlords already bought this item after level 200.

5)Territory War Point
Now Warlords can check their Territory War points in the homepage of Season Eve. Join Territory War to earn more points for better rewards in Seasonal Settlement.



6)Description optimization for seasonal items
Adjusted the description for Conquest Token, the letter of the First King and the incomplete notes from the First King. These items are only effective in Season Eve.

2.“Disguise Kit” and “Gender Change” item
Now Warlords can use Sovereigns to buy Disguise Kit and Gender Change item in the store. Warlords can use Disguise Kit to remake Character’s appearance. Use Gender Change to change the gender and remake the appearance.
1)Disguise Kit: 300 sovereigns
2)Gender Change: 900 sovereigns

3.Important Fixes
We had received many feedbacks that after cavalry bracing or charging, the damage would continue to be taken by other units walking through that area. We already fixed this bug in this update.

4.Weekly Challenges Adjustment
After checking your feedbacks, we decided to adjust the difficulty of some weekly challenges.
In Expedition Ⅰ, inflict a total of 1,000,000 damage (previously 10,000,000)
In Expedition Ⅱ, inflict a total of 2,000,000 damage (previously 10,000,000)
In Expedition Ⅲ, inflict a total of 2,000,000 damage (previously 10,000,000)
In field battles, inflict a total of 2,000,000 damage (previously 10,000,000)
In siege battles, inflict a total of 5,000,000 damage (previously 10,000,000)

5.“White Elk (Battle Drill)” Siege Free Battle Adjustment
After checking your suggestions, we decided to put siege free battle into the weekly free battle mode.
---“White Elk (Battle Drill)” Siege Free Battle will be available at 20:00-21:30 every Monday and Friday
---Random field free battle will be available at 20:00-21:30 every Thursday

6.Territory War Rules
Many Warlords said that some players are taking advantage of our adjustments in Oct 17 updates to conduct passive battles, maliciously kick other players out the battlefield and block the battle lines. So we made the following adjustments accordingly:
1)Warlords who have only engaged in the battlefield for 1 minute or less cannot be kicked. (previously 2 minutes)
2)Warlords who have engaged in the battle and ranking in the top one-third cannot be kicked. (previously two-thirds)

7.Hero Balance Adjustments
1)Shortsword & shield
We made the following optimizations for Thunderstruck:
a)Warlords can press T again to jump and smash to the ground during running
b)Warlords can move the camera to adjust the direction before jump
c)Added a defence buff and slightly decreased the move speed at the moment of using this skill
d)Increased the move distance of Thunderstruck

2)Longsword & shield
After previous adjustments, we found that the second hit of Shield Bash was unable to attack enemies accurately.
---Removed the “Repelled” effect for the first hit of Shield Bash.

3)Bow
We have checked your feedbacks on our previous adjustments to damage loss, mainly about the issue that Lightning Bolt couldn’t kill enemy heroes surrounded and protected by many soldiers. So we made the following adjustments:
a)Lightning Bolt Ⅰ: can shoot through 5 enemies, damage will be reduced by 20% per enemy.
b)Lightning Bolt Ⅱ: can shoot through 5 enemies, damage will be reduced by 15% per enemy.
c)Lightning Bolt Ⅲ: can shoot through 5 enemies, damage will be reduced by 10% per enemy.

4)Musket
With long duration of slowing enemies and wide attack range, the Deploy Caltrops could easily restrain the charge of cavalry and some infantries. Our adjustments are as follows:
a)Decreased the attacking radius from 3.5m to 3m for level Ⅰand level Ⅱ, from 4m to 3.5m for level Ⅲ
b)Deploy Caltrops Ⅰ: decreased skill duration from 8s to 5s
c)Deploy Caltrops Ⅱ: decreased skill duration from 8s to 6s, increased the bleeding damage from 100 points/s to 130 points/s
a)Deploy Caltrops Ⅲ: decreased skill duration from 8s to 7s, increased the bleeding damage from 100 points/s to 140 points/s

8.Unit Balance Adjustments
1)Mounted Crossbow Cavalry
a)Increased basic health by 10%
b)Veterancy point “Preparation”: “increases crossbow arrows fired each round by 1” was adjusted to “reduces the ranged damage taken by 20%”
c)Adjusted the F1 formation to “dispersed” formation, added a new “column” formation (F3)

2)Tercio Arquebusiers
After checking your feedbacks and having internal tests, we found that the performance of Tercio Arquebusiers didn’t meet our expectation. We made the following optimizations to unstable reloading time and aiming time.
a)Optimized the weapon structure, greatly increased the reloading speed and aiming speed
b)Fixed the bug that sometimes Tercio Arquebusiers could repeatedly switch between ranged and melee weapons.

3)Prefecture Pikemen
Some Warlords said that the current performance of Prefecture Pikemen didn’t in line with our design.
---Increased the charge distance by 10m
---The extra piercing armour penetration for charge will be increased by 15%

4)Ironcap Spearmen
---Decreased the leadership from 190 to 175, increased the unit size from 32 to 36

5)Palace Guards
The defence ability of Palace Guards was lower than we expected, resulting in a poor performance on the battlefield. So we made the following adjustments to enhance its defence ability.
a)Veterancy point “Stand Fast”: “increases blocks by 40” was adjusted to “ reduces damage taken by 5%”
b)Veterancy point “Rearguard”: “reduces damage taken from rear attacks by 5%” was adjusted to “reduces damage taken from rear attacks by 15%”
c)Added a new trait “Staunch Defenders”: reduces damage taken from pikemen, shortsword & shield infantry, archers and crossbow infantry by 12%.

6)Imperial Archers
Due to lower shooting speed, the Bodkin Arrows was weaker than Bodkin-Tipped when fighting against heavy armour units. Besides that, there are some veterancy points having nothing to do with battlefield performances. Our adjustments are as follows:
a)Veterancy point “Garrison”: “each level increases damage during siege battles by 10%” was adjusted to “increases the shooting speed of Bodkin Arrows by 5%”
b)Veterancy point “Kit Repair”: “reduces resupply cost by 5%” was adjusted to “increases damage to cavalry by 10%”
c)Veterancy point “Tenacity”: “decreases unit’s mortality rate in the open world by 5%” was adjusted to “increases piercing armour penetration by 8%”
d)Veterancy point “Sharp Shot”: “increases the shooting accuracy by 5%” was adjusted to “increases the shooting speed of Bodkin Arrows by 5%”

7)Vanguard Archers
We made some adjustments to enhance the maneuverability and attack ability of Vanguard Archers.
a)Veterancy point “Open Ground”: “increases damage during field battles by 100 points” was adjusted to “during ‘move and fire’, the move speed will be increased by 10% each shoot ”
b)Veterancy point “Move as One”: “increases move speed by 5%” was adjusted to “during ‘move and fire’, slowing the targets by 15% for 6s.”

8)Imperial Pike Guards
Made some optimizations and fixed some bugs when advancing so that this unit can move forward more fluently after formation completed.

9.Level Balance Adjustments: Hidden City Siege battle
By October 27, Hidden City has experienced 33,828 siege battles. The win ratio of attackers is 51.60%. Among that, Warlords over level 100 have engaged in 14,137 battles, the win ratio of attackers is 56.16%, higher than we expected. After checking your feedbacks, we made the following adjustments:
1)Added a new supply point nearby defender’s base camp
2)Added a new path behind defender’s base flag, making it easier for Warlords to retreat and defend the base camp.



10.System Optimizations
1)PVE stats will no longer be counted into Hero Ranking and Career stats.
2)Optimized the display of getting glory.
3)Adjusted the icon size of materials and resources in the crafting interface.
4)Optimized the button style for attributes information in Character interface

11.Bug Fixes and optimizations
1)Level Bug Fixes
a)Fixed the unbalanced player number in matched battles
b)Fixed a bug that units might float in the air after right city wall in White Elk was broken
c)Fixed the wrong icon of base flag and supply point in some villages including Ziya, Futao and New Sintar.
d)Fixed a bug that sometimes the guidance marker was blocked by the buildings in PVE levels



2)Miscellaneous Fixes
a)Fixed a bug that Blood Oath of Nodachi did not take effect correctly to slash damage and blunt damage.
b)Fixed a bug that Warlords couldn’t move nearby the city wall in Hovd
c)Fixed a bug where personal camp got automatically retreated back by system and CD for camp migration did not take effect correctly.
d)Fixed the repeated notifications after Warlords getting rewards from the mail
e)Fixed the wrong description of Legendary Defence Doctrine.

During last dev blog, we shared some thoughts about Honour reset and Doctrine removal. Now we are introducing some balance adjustments for our next update.

1.Hero Balance Adjustments
1)Shortsword & shield
Currently, we are thinking of making the following optimizations for Thunderstruck:
a)Warlords can press T again to jump and smash to the ground during running
b)Warlords can move the camera to adjust the direction before jump
c)Added a defence buff and slightly decreased the move speed at the moment of using this skill
d)Increased the move distance of Thunderstruck

2)Longsword & shield
After previous adjustments, we found that the second hit of Shield Bash was unable to attack enemies accurately.
---Removed the “Repelled” effect for the first hit of Shield Bash.

3)Bow
We have checked your feedbacks on our previous adjustments to damage loss, mainly about the issue that Lightning Bolt couldn’t kill enemy heroes surrounded and protected by many soldiers. So we made the following adjustments:
a)Lightning Bolt Ⅰ: can shoot through 5 enemies, damage will be reduced by 20% per enemy.
b)Lightning Bolt Ⅱ: can shoot through 5 enemies, damage will be reduced by 15% per enemy.
c)Lightning Bolt Ⅲ: can shoot through 5 enemies, damage will be reduced by 10% per enemy.

4)Musket
With long duration of slowing enemies and wide attack range, the Deploy Caltrops could easily restrain the charge of cavalry and some infantries. Our adjustments are as follows:
a)Decreased the attacking radius from 3.5m to 3m for level Ⅰand level Ⅱ, from 4m to 3.5m for level Ⅲ
b)Deploy Caltrops Ⅰ: decreased skill duration from 8s to 5s
c)Deploy Caltrops Ⅱ: decreased skill duration from 8s to 6s, increased the bleeding damage from 100 points/s to 130 points/s
a)Deploy Caltrops Ⅲ: decreased skill duration from 8s to 7s, increased the bleeding damage from 100 points/s to 140 points/s

2.Unit Balance Adjustments
1)Mounted Crossbow Cavalry

a)Increased basic health by 10%
b)Veterancy point “Preparation”: “increases crossbow arrows fired each round by 1” was adjusted to “reduces the ranged damage taken by 20%”
c)Adjusted the F1 formation to “dispersed” formation, added a new “column” formation (F3)

2)Tercio Arquebusiers
After checking your feedbacks and having internal tests, we found that the performance of Tercio Arquebusiers didn’t meet our expectation. We made the following optimizations to unstable reloading time and aiming time.
a)Optimized the weapon structure, greatly increased the reloading speed and aiming speed
b)Fixed the bug that sometimes Tercio Arquebusiers could repeatedly switch between ranged and melee weapons.

3)Prefecture Pikemen
Some Warlords said that the current performance of Prefecture Pikemen didn’t in line with our design.
---Increased the charge distance by 10m
---The extra piercing armour penetration for charge will be increased by 15%

4)Ironcap Spearmen
---Decreased the leadership from 190 to 175, increased the unit size from 32 to 36

5)Palace Guards
The defence ability of Palace Guards was lower than we expected, resulting in a poor performance on the battlefield. So we made the following adjustments to enhance its defence ability.
a)Veterancy point “Stand Fast”: “increases blocks by 40” was adjusted to “ reduces damage taken by 5%”
b)Veterancy point “Rearguard”: “reduces damage taken from rear attacks by 5%” was adjusted to “reduces damage taken from rear attacks by 15%”
c)Added a new trait “Staunch Defenders”: reduces damage taken from pikemen, shortsword & shield infantry, archers and crossbow infantry by 12%.

6)Imperial Archers
Due to lower shooting speed, the Bodkin Arrows was weaker than Bodkin-Tipped when fighting against heavy armour units. Besides that, there are some veterancy points having nothing to do with battlefield performances. Our adjustments are as follows:
a)Veterancy point “Garrison”: “each level increases damage during siege battles by 10%” was adjusted to “increases the shooting speed of Bodkin Arrows by 5%”
b)Veterancy point “Kit Repair”: “reduces resupply cost by 5%” was adjusted to “increases damage to cavalry by 10%”
c)Veterancy point “Tenacity”: “decreases unit’s mortality rate in the open world by 5%” was adjusted to “increases piercing armour penetration by 8%”
d)Veterancy point “Sharp Shot”: “increases the shooting accuracy by 5%” was adjusted to “increases the shooting speed of Bodkin Arrows by 5%”

7)Vanguard Archers
We made some adjustments to enhance the maneuverability and attack ability of Vanguard Archers.
a)Veterancy point “Open Ground”: “increases damage during field battles by 100 points” was adjusted to “during ‘move and fire’, the move speed will be increased by 10% each shoot ”
b)Veterancy point “Move as One”: “increases move speed by 5%” was adjusted to “during ‘move and fire’, slowing the targets by 15% for 6s.”

8)Imperial Pike Guards
Made some optimizations and fixed some bugs when advancing so that this unit can move forward more fluently after formation completed.
