Haunting the halls deep within the ruined castle of the fiery lands of the Ruined Kingdom are a bunch of peculiar looking Magnus. This family of Magnus are named Specto and the unevolved Spectos are quite indifferent to the presence of humans. Meanwhile their evolved forms, Spectral and Spectoreldr are highly aggressive and attack anyone they see on sight.
The Specto are often seen floating around with a bright red jacket that seems to get more elaborate as they evolve. Despite their ethereal looks, the Spectos are adept at close combat. They are equipped with sharp claw-like hands that are capable of dishing out painful attacks to their target. Spectos can also wail out loud causing anyone in its proximity to feel fear and have their bodies not obey them.
Spectos are often seen lurking around ruined settlements and nowhere else. This leads people to believe that they are dead souls who can’t pass into the afterlife lingering around with a heavy grudge ready to pounce on any living soul it sees.
Deep within the Frigid Tundra lies a towering Magnus covered in shards of ice serving as its weapon and armor. Frozknights are one of the few Magnus in Ethia to have some form of martial arts and are quite adept at using their sword and shield made of ice. Frozknights are sometimes seen training young Frozsquires and Frozpages on their swordsmanship, displaying finesse in their movements despite being huge in size.
Some interesting points on the Frozknights is that they only develop their ice shield only after evolving into a Frozknight. The Frozpage and Frozquire seem to lack an ice shield in their arsenal and are missing in their swordsmanship altogether. It has also been found that Frozknight’s ice weapons and armors contain more minerals which aids in their toughness and also adds color to their appearances.
Frozknights are very territorial and when they encounter trespassers within their territory, they would first give them a warning by banging their sword on their shield asking them to leave. If the trespassers do not leave, they will not hesitate to attack. Frozknights are formidable opponents and it is best to steer clear from fighting one lest it might just be the last fight you will ever fight.
In the far away volcanic lands of the Ruined Kingdom lies a peculiar avian species. This avian species was given the name Psybeak. The Psybeak seems to favor the fiery atmosphere of the land it populates. Despite having colorful feathers resembling flickering flames all over their body, they do not however possess even an ounce of magical power and are a purely physical Magnus species.
Despite having such a luscious plumage of feathers, Psybeaks seem to have tough bony armor all over their heads, wings and legs suggesting that it evolved the ability to grow those armor to aid in their attacks. Psybeaks have also been observed to have two evolutionary paths which focuses on two different body parts that are used when they strike their enemies.
Psybeaks are often seen in packs roaming beneath volcanoes and it is said that they like the warmth of the ground below an active volcano. They also love eating fruits grown in fertile lands which was probably the reason why they settled around an active volcano in the first place. When you encounter a pack of Psybeaks, run the other way and try not to anger them or you will get mobbed by them all at once.
Hey guys, there’s big news on the horizon, and we’re going to start sharing really important bits and pieces that will lead to the eventual big reveal! This time, we will be diving into some of the things that the team are doing to push the game closer to completion. Are all of you excited? Well, let’s get right to it.
We know that there are many of you out there from all different parts of the world, so our team has been working on the localization efforts for Re:Legend. The game is currently being translated and localized into many different languages, like French, German, Spanish, Japanese, and Chinese. Everything from the menu options to the character dialogues are being translated into the many languages.
Once we’ve pushed out the feature, you can just go to the options menu to change your preferred language. We want everyone to be able to enjoy Re:Legend, so doing this will introduce the least barrier to entry for players that are not from an English speaking background. Another step that we have been working on is on the optimization of the game. Since Re:Legend will not only be releasing on PC, but also on various consoles, we have put in a lot of effort in order to optimize the performance of the game for each platform. Our team has been engaged in the effort to make the game run smoothly no matter what platform you play on.
Most of the scenes in the game have been modified in order to reduce memory usage when playing through them. Now they will load faster and take less effort for your machine to run the game, which ultimately will increase the FPS of the game. Doing things like combining meshes of static objects and replacing high draw call shaders will allow the game to be played with great performance no matter on whichever platform you are on.
More balancing work has gone into the game as development is nearer to 1.0. This time we addressed the Magnus item drop rate, which will affect the item crafting and magnus evolution systems. We want to nail the experience of having to put in enough effort to make the rewards impactful, but also not make the entire process a tireless grind.
For the economy of the game, prices of items in shops and also services like healing and smithing have been looked into and prices were adjusted to fit the current economy of the game. Players will need to make smart decisions in order to accumulate wealth and spend to their heart’s desire. (Hint : Use the Farm.)
Other than content changes, we know that everyone is waiting for 1.0’s release date but the team is still working on intensive testing to make sure Re:Legend is running well on all platforms. As we are getting close to revealing the date, plenty of changes and overhaul has been made to the game since the last major patch so we have decided to roll out a major patch for the current content to test out the stability of the game. We’re expecting to release the overhauled patch at the end of next month so expect a lengthy patch note when it hits the Steam store! Lurking under the snowy layers, safe from the dangerous winds of the Tundra, hides the soft and jelly-like Slikat. Having no magical aptitude whatsoever, the Slikat is at a severe disadvantage compared to its other magic wielding neighbours. However, using its natural ability to stretch and reform itself, the Slikat is able to evade many of the magical dangers that populate the Frozen Tundra.
The amorphous properties of the Slikat’s body is truly a marvel to behold. During my expedition to the Tundra, it took nearly 2 months before I saw my first Slikat, and before I could write down any of my observations it disappeared from view. The local penguins took me to an area where the Slikats would fight, almost like an arena, and told me that the Slikat victors would often consume their opponents.
The Slikats have one advantage in the Tundra though, and it is also one of their biggest weaknesses. It is able to do large amounts of physical damage to anything in its way, and the other creatures of the Tundra are generally protected against magical assaults. This would mean that the Slikats are actually highly effective at fighting other Tundra magnus, though they would also be defeated just as quickly if attacked by magic.
Dune Kingdoms and Sand Princes, the Everdust Empire stood as the pillar of Ethian civilization. Scholars of the time debated about how their illustrious Empire would fall, many posit that it would be the constant infighting among the Highprinces, or it would be rebellion amongst the populace, or maybe even an attack from the bow wielding savages. None would suspect the very protector of the land itself, the Agriz.
Agriz is the embodiment and personification of rage, known to many as the most violent of all the Guardians of Ethia, he is as much feared as he is revered. However, most that would have worshipped him would be gone from the now empty and decaying Everdust. Apart from the handful of those that still remain, the ruins of the desert provide few with a place that they could call home.
Unlike most of the other Guardians, Agriz can often be seen roaming the deserts in search of someone or something to fight. Its powerful punches often send shockwaves through the dunes, moving sand in violent waves in all directions. Many believed that the Highprinces angered Agriz and was brought low for their hubris, but this is still speculation. Curiously, the Library holds no records of the fall of the Everdust.
Heyyo Peeps!! How have you been this past month? We here at Magnus Games hope that all of you have been well and are not going through too much difficulties at this time. If you are feeling a bit down, we hope that you can find a bit of joy or excitement reading through this month’s Kickstarter Update, as we have quite a few nuggets of news to share with all of you.
To start it off, we would like to address some of the feedback and comments that we have received in the past month. Firstly, we understand the concerns that have been brought up by the backers and are working our best to remedy the situation. So, let’s start off by introducing the PC exclusive cosmetic item.
We know that some of you were unhappy, and we wouldn’t want to leave out any of our audience from enjoying the content that we’ve prepared. This time, we are giving you the option to vote for which item you would like to see added. Pick Option A for the green beetle backpack or Option B for the red bug backpack. We are listening to all the player and backer feedback that we have been receiving, and we hope that you can let us know what you think about this.
So far a lot of work has gone into polishing Re:Legend in order to get it ready for release. Recently we have been going through a lot of Quality Assurance (QA) and have been rigorously testing the game to make sure that it releases in the best state that it can be in. Some of the changes that we have made are;
Magnus and Player stats have been polished in order to allow for more variety in builds and archetypes. The current live build heavily incentivises making a glass cannon build by either fully investing into the Strength and Intelligence stat, so we’ve tweaked the effectiveness of the various stats to make adding other stats worthwhile.
Magnus Defence and Damage have also been looked into, this is to ensure that Players will have a good time fighting the magnus in the wild, while also have a fun experience capturing and raising them.
Fishing difficulty has been tweaked for a more exciting mini game experience. Certain levels of fish are now more difficult to catch and require players to put some investment into getting better equipment for fishing.
Stamina consumption for various activities have been added and rebalanced. Some of the activities were not consuming stamina as intended, so we have made sure to get the game working as originally intended. Some activities like fishing also now consume stamina as you are fishing, rather than having a chunk taken after completing the mini game.
We are also now working heavily on the online multiplayer side of things. We are working to solve as many Multiplayer bugs that have been reported and those that we have found throughout development. We are also working on improving the network stability of the online experience, which we hope will provide a better experience for all of you.
