Re:Legend - Newt

Vokka Island is home to many natural cave systems and subterranean tunnels, from which a bounty of minerals and metals may be mined and extracted. Any interested parties however should be beware of the local magnus populations that call these habitats as home. One of these are the Prunis, a crustacean like magnus that has the ability to release shocking electrical waves against its unfortunate foes.

In the Southwestern corner of Vokka Island, you would find a cave that has the Pruni as its namesake. Home of the illustrious Prunperor, the Prunis guard it with aggresive ferocity, flinging bolts of electric at any unsuspecting intruder. Any brave souls that are foolhardy enough to attack a Prunperor would need to look out for its large area electrical attacks. I would personally recommend all to avoid approaching the Pruni Cave area, unless you like to get shocked.

According to ancient naturalist, Hallum Arcturcus Novus, he proposes that the Prunis and Blips come from a common ancestor but diverged due to the environmental conditions of each’s preferred habitat. Though the Library is unable to prove (or disprove) the claim, it is certainly uncanny how similar both the Blips and Prunis looks in terms of body shape and social structure.

Re:Legend - Newt

Under the dense canopy of the Wilkwoods, the constant pitter-patter of tiny hooves on the ground vegetation are the tell tale signs of the presence of a group of Brattus. When one first looks upon the creature, it would not be surprising to find them incredibly cute, but behind those googly eyes hides one of the most ferocious carnivores in Ethia. The Brattus will generally hunt in packs, chasing down prey that are often many times bigger than themselves.

A newborn Brattus is born with a sizable horn compared to its body, this makes it difficult for their young legs to support and move with much stability. This fosters a need for older Brattus to be caring and protective of their younger brethren, which would explain their extremely defensive nature when it comes to any threats towards the pack. The single horn in front of the Brattus’s face constantly grows throughout its life, there have been eyewitness accounts of a Brattorg with a horn twice the size of its body, but no such specimen has ever been found.

It is speculated that the Brattus were once omnivores or even herbivores, but were pushed into the circumstance where it has to consume the flesh. When venturing deep into the Wilkwoods, it is advised that one refrains from cooking meat, due not only to how its smell attracts the Brattus but also how it sends them into a frenzy.

Re:Legend - Newt

The Puffs of Vokka Island live in a herd-like structure, with each stage of a Puff’s maturity lending a different role that it plays for the herd. The puff starts out its life without much of the protective outer keratin layers of its older brethren, but unknown to most is the growing layer of keratin under their fur coat. Even at a young age the Puff boasts strong defensive capabilities and can withstand most attacks from the other local magnus. Despite this, the puff is extremely shy and runs away from other magnus, most likely due to them lacking outer armor.

The Kerapuff act as the defenders of the herd, running Puffs will generally seek out a Kerapuff for protection and it wouldn’t hesitate to run into danger to safeguard those of its herd. The Warpuff on the other hand are the hunters and spearhead of the Puff herd, often charging into enemies without provocation. If a Warpuff is not chasing about enemies, then it would be chasing fish and bringing them back to the herd.

Although the Puff are not seen to be magically gifted, the curious case of their battle shout has raised much debate among the scholars of the Library. Anyone in listening range will experience a temporary madness, often citing anger and irritation for the puff that let out the shout. It is suspected that the Puff has an innate magical aptitude that is released during these shouts. One should be wary of this, since the puffs can take a lot of punishment from us but not the other way.

Re:Legend - Newt

The Shadow Isle, they called it. Rumors said that this island only appears on certain time of the year, and many brave adventurers who venture forth..never returned...and no one knows whats going on and whats on that island… or how long will it stay there. The first time it emerged was 150 years ago, but then it vanished after a short time. I wonder what is going on now...

I still remember when I was a child, The Great Librarian, Astheon once told me that fishermen have reported seeing shadows lurking around the shore, but due to the misty environment, it is hard to determine what are those. But it seems to be a clash between two dimensions that created such a distorted island. So, there might be treasures beyond our imagination.

I’ve warned you adventurer, don’t get close to the Shadow Isle unprepared. Great reward comes great sacrifices...

Re:Legend - Newt

Although not much is known about the sentience of the Magnus, there certainly is irrefutable proof that certain species are able to think and talk at the level of other intelligent species like goblins and humans. Let us then discuss about arguably the most well known speaking magnus on Ethia, Busterina the Rockin Bushbrawler. Known throughout the Lands of Ethia as the Greatest Rockstar of the Century, she has improved much of the world’s understanding of the intelligence and capability of Magnus species.

Busterina comes from the Bushwacker line of Magnus, known for their incredibly powerful ears. Although docile in nature, the bushwacker is able to dish out incredible amounts of damage if provoked and will leave bruises on mischievous attackers. There are no known Bushwackers that are able to speak, although there are several cases of Bushbrawlers that are oritorily skilled. Magnus seem to be able to communicate with other species of Magnus, and seem to understand Bushbrawlers when they speak in the Common language, though this behaviour also seems to happen with Goblin and Human tamers.

The Bushwackers are native to the Wilkwoods, and are commonly seen in the outer, less dense part of the forest where there is more light and has a warmer environment. Basking in the sun and hopping through the forests seems like the only things they are doing apart from scouring the island for Kairoots. If you ever want to be friends with a Bushwacker or get an autograph from Busterina, remember to bring some Kairoots along and you’ll get them guaranteed.

Re:Legend - Newt

Snap Snap Snap, the shallows of Vokka Island are mired with the unsettling sounds of the Stubjaw, slowly snapping away at prey and predators alike. Extremely territorial, the Stubjaw takes an aggressive approach in protecting whatever it considers its own. Since the beginning, I have remained a safe distance away from the creatures, watching it snap up other creatures almost without scrutiny. Once fed, the Stubjaw will busk in the light to warm itself, older Stubjaws have larger scale surfaces that help them absorb more heat.

The Stubjaw is strictly carnivorous, stalking and ambushing prey with its impressive biting power. If were to come across any foe that it can’t simply chomp to pieces, the Stubjaw will resort to using a powerful water jet from its mouth to push away the unfortunate creature, this allows it to land another deadly barrage of fangs which would normally spell the end of its enemy. The armoured head of the Stubjaw also allows it headbutt with tremendous force without causing harm to itself, this will normally knock any foe down and make them vulnerable to attacks.

For the duration of my observations of the Stubjaw, I have kept my presence hidden and never approached any of them big or small. I would advise the same to anyone that travels to the shallows of Vokka Island, unless you are a competent warrior or a seasoned adventurer, the stubjaw will certainly leave a nasty bite mark to whoever that strays too close to its territory.

Re:Legend - Newt

The first thing that greets you upon reaching the Wilkwoods Island would certainly be the tiny gelatinous Babybits that hop around its sandy beaches. Upon first contact, these creatures did not seem to mind me entering their territory and even allowed me to touch their squishy faces, but they do seem to have an aversion to others touching their ears. When one of the sailors was too keen with a Babybit’s ears, it released a good amount of jelly from its body and escaped while the sailor was stunned from the entire ordeal.

Further evolutions of the Babybit feature limbs and a more human like appearance. We do not know if this is done by mimicry or whether it is simply coincidental. The appearance of the star in the Jellybit is also a mystery, with no clear source it just appears when a Babybit matures. The star seems to amplify the magical abilities of the Jellybit with some if its projectiles and powers seeming to have a star like appearance.

According to local testimonies, the “scarf” of the Gumbit is actually part of the Gumbit’s body and the colors actually represent the mood and emotion felt at the time. There is a saying among the local that goes something along the lines of “Don’t approach the Red Scarfed Gumbit”. All in all, the Jellybit does not seem to be the most bombastic of the Magnus species, but they do work into an ecological niche of the Wilkwoods. Remember, cute squishy faces good, ears bad.
