If you remember our road map, we teased that the Building Update will have features like Tree Houses, Footbridge, Triangle Constructions and Doors - but we’ve decided to extend this list by a lot. And before we fully release it, we’d really like to know your opinion on its contents and balance - that is why we proudly announce the opening of the Pre Update Beta (PUB in short) where you can test the new work-in-progress update to your heart’s content!
Whole new mechanic of building on trees - Wooden / Bamboo Tree House, Wooden / Bamboo Tree Platform and a Footbridge connecting the aforementioned. There is also a new Climbing Place construction which is necessary for reaching the treetops. A Tree House can be built on the biggest tree you’ll see around - the one covered with Indigo Blue Leptonia Mushrooms and Banisteriopsis Vine. Tree Platforms can be placed on thinner trees, the ones that can’t be cut and are often covered with ivy. Bonus: you can build two floors in your Tree House!
Floating Platform will let you build your abode on water - up to 3 floors high,
New axe - Heavy Stone Axe,
Introducing Triangular Constructions with Wooden / Bamboo Triangular Frames,
Wooden / Bamboo Doors - now you can let everybody know if you're waiting for uninvited jungle guests… Or not!
New building material options - now you can build Bamboo or Wooden Walls & Roofs & Ceilings,
Improved mechanic of placing multiple ghost constructions - now you can place more than one at a time,
New Notepad arrangement - now the Notebook is slimmer and more concise - you don’t have to shuffle numerous pages to find the construction and the material you’d like to make it from,
New option of cutting down Big Palms, Logs, Stumps, Branches - now you’ll be able to clear your path in the Amazonia,
To take part in the Building Update’s Pre Update Beta (PUB), you need to:
have Green Hell added to your Steam library - and downloaded as well,
click the right mouse button on it, and choose “Properties”,
in the popup choose option “Beta”, then activate the code: LoveYourCapybara, and select “GH_PUB” branch,
now you can play the Building Update contents before their release - in thePre Update Beta access!
If after putting the code in you still can't see the GH_PUB branch, please restart Steam - and try again. You won’t be able to move saves between your main game and PUB.
Since the PUB is still a work in progress, it is not impossible that you may experience crashes - this is when some specific commands will appear in the right- bottom part of the screen. Whenever that happens - please save your progress and restart the game.
Most crucial part of the beta tests is your feedback. That’s why after you close the game, a short Google Forms questionnaire will appear - and we know, it’s a popup, but please don’t skip it!
Below the popup - here's a dedicated thread here. We’re planning some AMA on our Discord, so make sure to join us there - everything will be posted in #announcements and #beta-tests channels!
By getting the survey results and your opinions on both Discord and Steam together, we’ll shape the final Building Update experience, which we’re planning to release in no longer than a few weeks.
This year’s Steam Award Nominations have just launched, and let’s take a part in them!
Thanks to you it was possible to expand of the concept of a hardcore survival in the Amazonian jungle from Early Access to the full game release. Since then, thanks to your continuous feedback and support, we’ve added plenty of expansions, updates and fixes to Green Hell. And there is even more content on the way!
Please spare a second and nominate Green Hell to the Labor of Love Award.
Three years ago we released Plant Cultivation Update, which allowed you to become a self-sufficient jungle farmer. And now, we’ve decided to improve the Plant Cultivation mechanic with a frequently requested feature: now you can name all “Unknown” flora and its fruits in your Notebook!
From now on it will be easier to let the future Jake know what the past Jake has already discovered about a given specimen of the flora. And this will not only be visible in your Notebook, but in the whole jungle! If future Jake decides to extend the research and - due to new experiments - comes to different conclusions, you can easily rename a given plant to your liking.
Along with this new feature, we’ve added few fixes:
Items in racks no longer duplicate after destroying the rack in a co-op session
Gathering of the Queen Bee trigger can now be rebound
Torches are now more effective against big cats
Fertilizer now affects fruits’ growth time
Fixed issues with climbing the ladder in Spirits of Amazonia boat
Plant Boxes no longer gather water under a roof
Plants Tab in Notebook should now work properly
Added proper drawing for Albahaca and Psychotria Flowers in the Plant Tab in Notebook

And in other news: you were asking us how is Tenebris doing right now, so here’s some exclusive sneak-peak of Tenebris' daily snack routine:
We’ve just released the hotfix 2.3.4, which is fixing all achievements with repetitive activities from Spirits of Amazonia expansions 1-3.
The complete list of fixed achievements is as follows:
Babysitter (Return 9 kids to safety);
Molineria-man (Heal a Tribe member);
Rest in peace (Burn 10 Tribe Members’ corpses);
Cleaning volunteer (Burn 10 Toxic Waste Piles);
Fishing in troubled water (Help 5 Tribe Fishermen);
Handyman (Rebuild 10 Tribe Totems);
Cage opener (Free 9 Tribe Women).
We know that there might be issues with triggering achievements from a loaded game in which a quest has already been finished - we strongly suggest loading the game save from the Main Menu, not the Pause menu. Also, we are aware that there are still issues with the achievements gained in the co-op mode, and with the “That’s the spirit!” achievement (Complete all Spirits of Amazonia achievements) - we’re currently working on a fix to them as well.
If you happen to stumble upon an issue with triggering achievements, we would be really thankful for letting us know here in the comments, or at support@creepyjar.com.
We’ve just released the Achievement Update to Green Hell, which will reward Players for completing the story of all three parts of Spirits of Amazonia. In a sum, there are 28 brand new achievements to be earned!
It’s very unlikely to miss any of them if you’re planning to play all three parts for the first time. And if you’ve already finished all the parts of the Spirits of Amazonia series, you’ll get most of them by just loading your saved game. However, there are three achievements dedicated solely to the Animal Husbandry update, so if you haven’t groomed your capybara family, now it’s the best time to do so.
We hope that hunting trophies in the jungle will be more fun now! Try to get them with your friends, since – starting today – Green Hell is 30% off!
We’ve just released the newest Hotfix v.2.3.2, mostly focused on improving the game balance after the Animal Husbandry Update, plus some small fixes. Thank you for all the feedback concerning animal droppings, feeding, and gaining animals’ trust (and Jake’s sanity as well), both in single player and multiplayer sessions.
