Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is a massive game, no doubt about that. In fact, you can’t zoom out all the way to see just how big it really is. Encompassing Ancient Greece into a game is no small feat, so when you first visit the map on the pause screen, you may feel overwhelmed. I know I did when I first looked at it. But for those who want to have a handy reference, this guide will simply go over how big the map is, and what the icons mean.

John’s already told you everything that’s wrong with Assassin’s Creed Odyssey. But you should stop listening to grumpy old men. You should listen to me, so I can inject you with youthful pep.

I completely get where John’s coming from. After reading his piece, in fact, I had a week long wobble where I barely touched the game. Then I came back and had a fab time playing all the way through to the ‘proper’ end – the one where they say “Ho ho, what an odyssey this has been” and slap their knees. Here’s why.

The Ancient Greek world in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey is honestly a colossally sized place. Set during the conflict between Athens and Sparta, there are a fair few returning features, such as sailing, but it also retains a fair few of the the big changes that were brought with Assassin’s Creed Origins. There’s plenty of new features as well, like romancing NPCs and dialogue choices. In this collection of guides, we will cover the basics of combat, which gameplay mode to choose, the multiple side quests, skills and sailing explained, and dealing with the mercenaries.

Kassandra sure is keen to soak her hands in blood. Of her enemies, or those of anyone who chucks her a few drachmae.

The Assassin s Creed games have always been about killing people. Duh. Assassin s Creed Odyssey, though, is the first since the series started that’s got me asking if those people deserve it. And I only had to care in the original because of my dad. (more…)

At some point in your adventure in Assassin’s Creed Odyssey, you’ll encounter a fine specimen of a woman named Xenia. She’s a big muscly lass who’s particularly fond of you as time goes on. She’ll initially ask you for money for information either Alexios or Kassandra needs, but if you saved her brother in one of the game’s many side quests, you’ll be able to hunt for some artefacts for her. Unfortunately the maps she gives you contain a few red herrings (nobody’s perfect after all), so this guide will filter all of the stuff you don’t need to know and instead tell you where to find the five items she seeks.

The argument raged for millennia. Titans clashed on an appropriately dramatic field, with internet armies raging between their massive feet. Will you choose to play as Alexios or Kassandra? my local grocer cried, eyes wild with suspicion. “They re both the same!” screamed a man set aflame. Yeah, I m picking Kassandra, said literally everyone else.

However, after playing through the three-hour opening of Assassin s Creed Odyssey nearly seven times for you> (and continuing to play over a dozen hours on a separate save) I can confirm that both Kassandra and Alexios are distinct, compelling, and valid protagonists. Choosing between Alexios or Kassandra colours the events of Odyssey in a multitude of ways, even moreso than FemShep and BroShep of the Mass Effect trilogy. Ways I am now going to describe, so that I can clear some of the several thousand screenshots on my hard drive.
