We are excited to announce the release of Terraforming Mars on MacOS. The "March 2021 Beta" has been very useful to us thanks to the help of all beta testers. We thank you once again as your participation was absolutely key to making this possible!
As good things come in threes, let us also inform you that in addition to the Mac version, this update also includes a new graphical rendering system and all-new patch notes! You can find more information below.
PATCH NOTE
New shader system
In two-player games, second-place awards will not appear anymore

In the played cards and cards in hand popups, a new chronological filter is selected by default, sorting cards by their drawing order

A new Beta test is live and we would like you to try it. We integrated a new graphical rendering system, and the meaning of this Beta is to be able to test this system with as many different setups as possible. You can find below the patch note for this version:

- KNOWN BUG: The first phase of the tutorial doesn’t start properly. We believe that it won’t be a problem for you Beta players, but we’ll make sure to fix this before releasing the patch!
We're asking you to check if there is no visual bug or artefact that could damage the game experience (including on Mac!). Make a couple of games and please screenshot and report with the setup used any issue of that type you could meet. If it works fine, please do tell us as well! As usual the Terraforming Mars team is grateful to be able to count on your help and support, and hopes once more that your feedback will be valuable.
We are so excited to announce the official launch of Prelude, on Steam and mobile devices! Establish whole new strategies with new game mechanics and improve your gaming experience of Terraforming Mars with this new DLC.
And as good news always comes in twos- or at least that's what we like to say, we also implemented several fixes and improvements with this release, which you can read about below!
Major fixes
Low and medium graphics quality settings are adjusted to optimize display performance
Steam achievements synchronization is fixed
Sorting card parameters are not lost at each player’s turn
Online game compatibility issue with older versions is fixed
In-game and lobby chat don’t interfere with each other anymore
Adding Game info to identify open and resumable games more precisely
Minor fixes
Text correction and adjustment in various menu and in-game screens
Scroll bar reset is performed after changing tab in the rules screen
Remove Karma and AI Sub option from the Private Game Configuration Screen
The game doesn’t get blurry when changing the resolution in low resolution anymore
Animation of the arrow during the tutorial flow (part 4) is fixed
Duplicate session won’t loop infinitely between two clients
Pressing Escape (PC) when playing forced actions won’t lock the game anymore

Go to https://account.asmodee.net/en/betatests and scroll down until you see the current beta for Terraforming Mars. Then, click on “Join” to receive your key for the beta and follow the next steps:
How to activate the Beta of the Prelude DLC once I received my Steam Key (format AAAAA-BBBBB-CCCCC)?
(You should already own the game)
Open Steam, then open the Games menu and select “Activate a Product on Steam…”
Follow the instructions until you are asked a Product Code.
Enter the Steam Key in this field and complete the activation of the product.
Right-click on Terraforming Mars in your games library and click Properties.
You can check that the Prelude DLC is activated by selecting the DLC tab, where you should see the TerraformingMars – Prelude listed. Tick the Install checkbox if it’s not already the case.
Select the Betas tab.
Enter the code MissiontoMars and click Check Code.
In the drop-down list, select beta as the beta you would like to opt into.
That’s it! Steam should now download and update TFM so the Prelude DLC should be available when you create a new game.
Remember! Joining the beta means that you will certainly encounter bugs during your games. It’s perfectly normal and in this case, please make sure to report these on our new Discord server, in the dedicated channel, so we can investigate your issue and resolve it. Thank you to all our beta testers! As usual, the objective is to stabilize and make sure that the version is ready to be pushed and for that, your feedback will be decisive.
If you wish to leave the beta and continue playing Terraforming Mars: 1- Go into Terraforming Mars’ properties 2- Select the “Beta” tab 3- Select the “NONE – Opt out of all beta programs” option 4- Delete the content of this folder: C:Users<username>AppDataLocalLowLuckyHammersTerraforming Mars Make sure that you check all files have been deleted, some of them are set as “hidden” and will need to be revealed to be deleted.

Discover the 35 new Prelude cards and customize your corporation: will you start the terraforming process or do you prefer to first boost your corporation mechanisms? Make sure to make the right choice according to your corporation and don’t let your opponents take advance! Enjoy a more dynamic gameplay experience thanks to the Prelude phase.

You will be able to face a new Solo Challenge: try to be the first to reach a Terraforming Rating of 63 in 14 generations!
Introducing the Wild Tag: for an action performed, the wild tag becomes a tag of your choice.
Note that you will also be able to customize your solo/online games, depending on which parts of the expansion you wish to play with. Will you go with the Prelude Phase, or just the new Corporations and Projects? Or will you choose to play with all the add-ons? It’s up to you!

THE RED PLANET AT THE CENTER OF A ROUND TABLE
You will assist to a round table with a panel of professionals and learn more about the planet Mars and how its exploration inspired both board games and video games.
For the occasion, meet Dr. Jacob Fryxelius, the original designer of Terraforming Mars accompanied by Dr. Tomas Rawlings, developer of Mars Horizon (Auroch Digital) and Mike Roush, developer of Tharsis (Totally Choice). Welcome also Dr. Sian Proctor, Professor at South Mountain Community College, Geoscientist plus Analog Astronaut and Sue Horne, Head of Space Exploration at the UK Space Agency and part of ESA’s ExoMars team.
With such a panel, there are sure to be many things you will learn at this event, so be sure to be there!

As we're narrowing down the last improvements, Mac users' feedback will help us polishing the build for the release.

If you wish to join it, head to https://account.asmodee.net/en/betatests and scroll down until you see the current beta for Terraforming Mars. Then, click on “Join” and follow the instructions that appear on your screen. Update your game, launch it and set ready for a trip to Mars!
A NEW WAY TO SHARE YOUR FEEDBACK WITH US!
Once you have reached the website mentioned above, you will discover a new way to provide us with feedback and reports … a Discord server for our beta testers! This server regroups all of our current betas. This way, you can forward us your feedback directly on it and help us gather all the issues encountered, suggestions and more! Reinforcements have arrived! We are delighted to announce that a new update is available for Terraforming Mars, fixing various bugs and improving online stability. It is available on all platforms. Thank you to all the players who helped us during the beta by forwarding us bug reports and feedback! Due to some fixing in the rules, please note that all the ongoing online games will be cancelled! You will find below the detailed patch notes:
Bugs fixes
Rules/cards:
The Power Infrastructure (194) action is now functional in all cases
When the AI plays the Flooding card (188), the condition for removing 4MC from other players is fixed.
The passive effect of Protected Habitats (173) no longer protects the player's resources from the effects of his own cards.
Carbonate Processing card (43)
Fixed: some players reported that the cost of the card is removed but none of the effects are applied.
Search For Life card (5)
Fixed:
A crash may occured (rare) if there are no cards left in the draw pile and someone performs this action.
Online:
During an online game, two users could have the same Corporation
The Server disconnection when switching to another app or when putting the app into background no longer occurs (mobiles)
The user is notified when kicked out of a game due to a timeout when outside of that game
When adding an offline player to your friend list, the player detail UI is now updated
Ingame UI:
The VP icon no longer overlaps the descriptive text of the card when it is displayed in large format
Tutorial:
"Next" button visual corruption fixed
Multiple issues (misplacement) with arrow indicator are fixed

Reduction of the flashing effect on the top information during a game
Tutorial:
Card button and tutorial popup transparency are adjusted
Some buttons of the 4th part were not disabled properly
Allow the user to skip automatically some steps of the tutorial
