The hint system has been reworked to remove any elements of pay-to-win, and level the playing field. We've also added achievements, and you can now use your Steam username and avatar!
Next week we will be rolling out a small update that fixes a bug some users have been experiencing that prevents them from going online, and also a bug that results in an empty character select screen on Steam.
At the end of the month, we will be releasing another, bigger update that overhauls the hint system.
For those who do not like hints - in the big update, you will have the option to play games that are entirely hint-free.
For those who love the hints - firstly, we're sorry that you may have now run out of hint cards, since we disabled the option to purchase them in the last update. Please bear with us - you will be able to use hints again in the big update!
You can no longer earn silver coins, but if you still have some then you can spend them on hint cards in the current version. Bear in mind that in the big update, hint cards and silver coins will both be entirely removed.
The new hint system will work like this:
- In single-player, you will have the option to play with or without hints. If you choose to play with hints, you will have one FREE use of each hint (Move, Peek, Block) per game.
- In online multiplayer games against random users, there are no hints allowed.
- In private multiplayer games against friends, the host can choose whether or not to allow hints. If the host chooses to play with hints, each player has one FREE use of each multiplayer hint (Move, Reveal, Super Suggest) per game.
New - Wild West theme! It's high noon in Silvertown. There will be blood? There already is. Dr Black, the mine owner, has been murdered! Will justice be served in this lonely outpost on the edge of civilisation?
- New Wild West theme! Explore the dusty frontier town, from the Saloon to the Jail. - Six new cowboy characters! Was it Sheriff Mustard, or perhaps Scarlett the bounty hunter?
Scarlett has no home, not since Dr Black swindled her father out of his ranch so that he could exploit the silver beneath the ground. Now she wanders the frontier alone, in search of dangerous desperados and the bounties on their names. Yet time and again she is drawn back to Silver Town, the closest thing she has to a home. Perhaps she saw an opportunity to take revenge on Black for ruining her family?
Behind every great fortune there is a crime. Sheriff Mustard knows all about the crimes that Dr Black committed on his way to acquiring the mine at Silver Town, but Black had friends in high places who circled the wagons every time Mustard tried to arrest him. Perhaps Mustard reached the end of his tether and decided that frontier justice was the only way Black would pay for his crimes?
Silver Town ain't big enough for two tycoons. Dr Black and Plum were once business partners who founded Silver Town together. Friendship became sworn enmity when Plum discovered that Black was secretly siphoning off silver and gold before it could reach Plum's bank for assaying. Perhaps Plum wanted Silver Town's riches to himself?
Silver Town was built on blood, sweat and tears. Green sweated harder than anyone, toiling in his forge day after day to create the mining tools that Dr Black used to make his fortune. Yet when it was time to pay his debts to Green, Black pulled a fast one and left the blacksmith with a fraction of what he was owed. Perhaps Green sought his pound of flesh?
The inhabitants of Silver Town are drawn to Peacock's saloon like moths to a flame. This didn't escape the notice of Dr Black. He wanted a piece of the action, but Peacock refused to sell a share of her business. Incensed, Black immediately began to build a rival saloon on the other side of town, with the intent of driving her out of business. Perhaps Peacock saw a way to save her livelihood?
Rose has always been most at home in the wilderness, alone beneath the sublime skies. She reluctantly returned to Silver Town only to sell her furs and to visit her father, a foreman in Dr Black's mine. Tragedy befell Rose when she returned after one hunting trip to find that her father had died in a mining accident, caused by Black's negligence. Perhaps Rose sought to avenge her father before leaving Silver Town for good?
We've had a lot of positive feedback to our recent release of Clue/Cluedo on Steam, and we're very proud of the experience we have poured our hearts into.
However, we can't ignore the fact that many of you are unhappy with the hint system, and feel that it is pay-to-win. We're listening. We understand that this has soured the experience for many of you, and we will fix it very soon by allowing you to choose to play either games with hints enabled for all users, or games with no hints for anyone. More details soon.
