We've just dropped a content patch adding an auto-save function, new area in the hub zone, new boss, new pets and much more! We're excited for everyone who hasn't been playing the experimental branch to get stuck into a lot of these changes for the first time! We also have a content drop on the experimental branch with future changes and editions you can test for the next patch already.
Gem reset disclaimer
Your gems and unlocks will be reset, however, don't worry! You will be refunded all of the gems you have spent and the unlock path is revamped to be easier and cheaper so you should get more bang for your buck!

Major Changes
AUTO-SAVE for every level, you can now continue your runs from the level you left off
Item Gallery: In the basement of the bar, you can browse all items that you encountered, you can trial them or ban them. (Peter and Jack are back... unless you want to get rid of them)
Item Bans: You can now ban items/pets/weapons in the gallery (Achievement will not be available after a certain number of bans)
New Boss: God of Gambling - watch out they know how to count cards!
New Challenge room: Put your skill to the test! You will get the reward based on how you perform, try not to get hit
New batch of pets
Enemy bullets will now be displayed in front of player bullets
Revamped unlock progress tree for more flexibility in picking the path of your progress and it's cheaper to progress too!
Extra gem drop for fixed bosses, each time you beat the last boss, you will be awarded extra gems based on your difficulty levels.
You can now reset your unlocks tree (for the cost of 20 Gems)
Boss defeated badge for every character (different difficulty will result in a different boss badge)
Tweaked damage model, balanced weapon damages
Separate button added for the character's passive ability instead of the interact key
Grenade projectile path preview for easy and normal (not available in hard mode)
Add monster spawn and teleportation indicators
You will now unlock more monsters by defeating managers, (previously, you have to unlock them on the unlock tree)
Pets now no longer shoot on their own, they will only shoot if you shoot
Improved boss portraits (they're prettier now)

Experimental Branch New Content
We've also updated the experimental branch with a heap of new content and changes that you can test early. A few of these include a bestiary type room where you can customise the enemies you find in the dungeon runs. There are new enemy types, new puzzle blocks, new rooms and new unlocks!

How to access the Experimental Branch
**We highly recommend that you use a new save slot on the experimental branch, which is the safest way. Do not use the old save data, which may cause some unknown issues.**
First right click the game in your Steam Library and select Properties.
Then select the ‘Betas’ tab
From here select Experimental from the dropdown.
Your game should now automatically download the experimental branch when you next play Neon Abyss!

Saya
Saya brings a few more splashes of color to the abyss and not just with her hair! She is a master sword wielder and will paint the dungeons red with powerful sword strikes. Switch between her katana and your ranged weapon in the dungeon to destroy any foe at any distance!
Amir
Subjected to awful mental experiments, Amir can muster the power of his mind to his advantage. They are able to ascertain the exact effect of items before picking them up.
Each run Amir starts with 6 heart containers but lose one after each level, once hitting zero they are able to levitate! Be careful, Amir's only hope of survival is to collect shields!

We continue to tweak the HP on bosses on the experimental branch in the quest for the sweet spot especially in harder difficulties.

More tweaks to HP amount of bosses on harder difficulties and late levels
Our first patch is here in the form of a hotfix! Thank you to everyone who has submitted reports and feedback so far! This hotfix is PC specific and is on GoG but will come to PC Gamepass later. We're also working on console fixes for the black screen issue, and Nintendo Switch performance issues which we'll keep everyone updated on through our socials!
We also have a whole heap of changes to the experimental branch, including optional items, pick-up pets pause before they grab, auto-save (so you can leave the game mid run and pick it back up!) and much more further down in this news post!
Hotfix 1
Cursor not confined to fullscreen fix.
French keyboard compatibility .
Remove Vibrant Ball, Peter and Jack (until a full update with reworked pet mechanics - see experimental notes.)
We now have a fix on the experimental branch for the AZERTY issues, which should address rebinding issues and give full support to this keyboard type! More info on how you can try this update early a long with lots more changes and fixes most requested by the community here!
We are working as hard as we can on testing a hotfix for the live PC versions of the game and will let you all know as soon as we are ready to move this and some other major fixes already on the experimental to the live version.

Try out new changes early with the ‘Experimental Branch’
An optional build of the game with some of the changes and fixes we have already begun working on from community feedback is now live! This branch will be updated regularly and will eventually see some of its changes moved to the live version with hotfixes and future updates.
Note: This branch has not been fully tested and may contain unforeseen bugs and issues.
Here is the list of changes and fixes that is currently in this build:
Changes
[Removed] Vibrant Ball whilst we redesign it
Normal eggs will not hatch into controversial pets (Grabber, Dr. Blue, Jack, Peter)
A new kind of egg (naughty egg), it will not fail to hatch, but includes the controversial pets, you need to manually press interact button to pick this egg up.
Grenade projectile preview (not available in hard mode.)
Upgrade tree tweaked to be less grindy.
Extra gem drop for fixed bosses, each time you beat the last boss, you will be awarded extra gems based on your difficulty levels (max 21 extra on abyssa.l)
Wisdom progress will not be reset when violence path is triggered, it halves your current wisdom progress.
The first level shop will now be on 50% sale, also shop now displays item names.
You will now unlock more monsters by defeating managers, (previously, you have to unlock them on the unlock tree.)
Enemy bullets will now be displayed in front of player bullets.
Increase the duration of the item banner display.
Nerfed the movement speed for the second stage of McFamily bosses.
Slot machine door will open after self destruct.
Supports for more aspect ratios.

Please also bare in mind that not every change will make it to the live version, and we’ll be listening to your thoughts on what does and doesn’t work. Your save should carry over between this version and live but we also cannot guarantee your save data!

Random item drops are key in helping you blast your way though the abyss. Each has its own passive abilities that can stack and combine with other effects to create powerful synergies.
Tackle mini-games
Take a break from the dungeon running and play a slew of unlockable mini-games that could appear in your run like playing a giant piano to unlock some juicy item drops.
