...what if? What if… we updated some of our beloved roles?
Are you ready to role with the punches? Can you be a wolf in sheep’s clothing in this latest Project Winter update?
NEW FEATURES & GENERAL CHANGES:
The Innocent role has been removed and replaced with the “Scout” role:
Scouts can use traitor hatches
When using a radio Scouts will see where other players transmitting with the same color radio are on the map
Changes to Traitors:
When using a radio standard traitors can now see where other players transmitting with the same color radio are on the map. This includes both red traitor radios and other colour radios if they decide to use them
Traitor hacker has been removed, and all traitors can now open bunkers with traitor credits
All Traitors can open the truth serum lab and armory with traitor credits
Traitors can “repair and sabotage with delay” an objective, which repairs an objective and automatically sabotages it after a period of time
Traitors can sabotage the fireplace so the cabin will not restore heat until it is repaired with wood
Traitors can sabotage a bunker to guarantee that a wolf will come out of it when the bunker is opened
Traitors must now purchase items from traitor crates using traitor credits. Items in traitor drops remain the same and are not required to be purchased
Changes to Hackers:
Hackers no longer need electronic scrap to open bunkers
Hackers can open the truth serum lab and armory with electronic scrap
Changes to Detective:
Detectives can investigate traitor crates to potentially deduce who opened them
Detectives can use trap disarm kits to see who placed the traps they disarm
Detectives and ID Thieves now hear a jazzy theme song when they approach a dead body
Added the ability to choose map in Custom Mode
BALANCE CHANGES:
Changes to Poison:
Poison’s effects are now delayed after consuming or interacting with a poisoned object
A player who poisons another player sees a timer over the poisoned player’s head counting down to when their poison takes effect
Poisoned items now stack with non-poisoned items of the same type
Poison and poisoned crossbow bolts cause the player to lose heat in addition to their other effects
Player gets a message on the global events banner when poison takes effect
Poisonings and the identity of the poisoner are shown on the timeline at the end of a match
Changes to Traitors:
Traitors can see what bunkers have been broken and/or sabotaged with a wolf
The bonus objective “repair objective” has been added
Traitors gain proximity credits (credits from being around other players) faster
Traitors gain more credits from opening traitor crates than they did before
Defector starts the game with their ability 50% charged
Soldiers take 20% less damage from wild animals
All unlock stations must now be activated to open a wolf bunker.
The truth serum lab and armory proximity text has subtitles that explain those locations in more detail
The player’s current role is highlighted on the roles list
Players can view the roles list from the pause menu
Players using a controller can view HUD tooltips by pressing down on the D-pad.
Players get a system message in the text chat at the beginning of the game telling them where they can get more information on their role
Changed “Radio Station” and “Hydro Station” objective text to “Power Station” to match the name on the building and avoid confusion
Removed sabotage option from armory consoles and lab consoles
Increased the rematch timer to 60 seconds
BUG FIXES:
Keyboard settings pop ups no longer have a button automatically selected.
Key binding is now moved a bit to the bottom and will no longer appear behind the message.
Stopping the mouse from triggering any mouse events when it's invisible
[Xbox] fixed issue where a controller disconnect event would occur if any controllers paired user changed rather than the just the active controller
Fixed issues with overlapping font
Fixed the keyboard controls saving changes on close, and made it reset any unsaved changes on close.
Pressing settings revert behavior changed:
Pressing revert when the keyboard keys aren't shown will never bring up the key revert popups anymore.
The restore defaults popup will now be navigable.
The revert button now updates whether it's interactable or not based on tab open
Fixed navigation being lost due to the revert button turning not interactable.
Dismissed announcement will now properly select the button of the next announcement
Added more space to the layout for tool tips of abilities
[Xbox] Added code to disable Controller/Keyboard toggles on the Controls screen
Fixed issue where camera tracks gondola instead of player when player hops off at last second
Fixed] removed/moved floating rocks on many levels
Added backing behind the loading
Fixed Swaying trees on top of rocks on gondola map
Fixed a few instances of players getting stuck in water
Fixed rock collision near Kilauea crater.
Fixed an instance where the player could walk through a part of the mountain on the gondola map by turning on a collider
Fixed an instance where the battery could spawn in the mountains behind the cabin on the gondola map by moving spawn node to bottom of the mountain
Made several collision fixes to stop out of bounds instances on the gondola map
Turned off static batching groups of trees
Added timeline images for new timeline events that were missing them
Made a stopgap fix for doubling/tripling/sounds
Steam/waterfall loops restricted to single global playback
Fixed / added code so players can not ragdoll over top of interactables such as crates and berry bushes which will help to prevent them from ending up in places where they can get stuck.
Added a fix for the ragdolls being able to get stuck in the outhouse when ragdolling into it using a landmine.
Updated the collision on the argo so it would block ragdolls from going under the ramp.
Fixed a bug where when the player is right next to a collider (think of the wall of a building) and the throw animation moves the arm through the collider, the release point is on the opposite side of the collider than the player is and nothing prevents it from releasing inside of the collider.
Fixed issue with the animal corpses not spawning.
Fixed an issue with the animals getting stuck and rotating weird on uneven ground.
Added code so we cannot drop items through colliders.
Fixed a couple null references when animals die.
Added code to stop dragging players at the start and stop of the mass hysteria event.
Fixed an issue where the root transform was not being updated on other clients. This was making it so the bodies could become very far apart between clients.
Fixed instances where some items have really large colliders which when dropped by a wall are larger than the wall itself.
Fixed issue with players being able to get items stuck on the roof on the outhouse
Fixed issue where the player becomes non-responsive and invincible if they fall right before being ragdolled.
Added code to make the line of sight work a little different for throwable objects vs normal interactables.
Fix added for animals being able to be pushed around when stuck in a bear trap.
[Xbox/Win10] Added a dialog box for when the player attempts to invite without having any friends in his list.
Added code to make it so we can pick up a radio and have it go to the radio slot
Fixed many collision issues across multiple maps
Updated the ragdoll sync code so that if the client's ragdoll is within a short distance of the owner's ragdoll, then the client just retains it's local transforms rather than applying the owners transforms. But if it's larger than the acceptable distance, then it snaps to the owner's transforms.
[Xbox] Fixed issue where Xbox One players could not remove the lobby password
Fixed Buy DLC button remaining active on Rewards tab when switching between purchase DLC crate option and open inventory crate option
Fixed Code Terminal UI not appearing in some bunkers
Store items with no purchase limit on Steam are now limited for non-Steam platforms

Reverted ghost and ingame controls being checked against each other when binding.
Added a refresh to the cursor in case it somehow disappears while in mkb mode.
The radial wheel layout should no longer mess up placement upon exiting and opening it repeatedly.
Fix for tooltips only showing up the first time they're triggered up on crafting tables.
Redid an older issue where the tips appeared when the game over screen showed up.
When the game over statistics screen comes up, the tips now get disabled.
Fixed the spanish text for PASSWORD_UNLOCK. Has been updated to proper translation.
Fixed issue where main menu UI breaks if player tries to rematch, but another player has recently opened a lobby with the same name as the rematch lobby
Fixed an instance where sabotage doesn't work correctly if host disconnected around the same time as objective sabotaged
Fixed an issue where easter crates were not removed from inventory when opened
Fixed gondola timeline entry not appearing on all clients
Adjusted text box widths on the Controls section of the game guide to fix issues with text getting cut off on some languages
Fixed issue with moose gathering at the cabin when host disconnects
Made progression of tasks based on escaping with items exclude sabotaged escapes
Fixed instances for projectiles hitting buildings instead of the player in front of the buildings.
Converted Traitors will no longer keep showing survivor air drops
Fixed crashes during quitting process where photon tries to open modal for a disconnection by client.

A new map has been added in the rotation that may bring some uphill battles and high level gameplays to your Project Winter experience. Be extra careful of who you trust as this map gives a whole new meaning to having a “ride or die” friend!
NEW FEATURES & GENERAL CHANGES:
Introducing a new map:
The cabin is located on the northernmost tile rather than in the center, overlooking the rest of the map from an elevated position
Two options for accessing the rest of the map from the cabin: a gondola that provides rapid transport to the southernmost tile, or a narrow ramp that descends the cliffside to the immediate area below the cabin
New gameplay dynamics, with the first objective now being located outside the southern gondola station rather than around the cabin and the ability for traitors to delay the gondola via sabotage
Two new main tile variations for the existing normal mode maps which alter the positions of trees, rocks, etc. surrounding the cabin
Text chat can now be used in pregame lobbies, which also logs messages when players join, leave or get kicked
Players can now only upvote the same player once per day at the end of a match
Snow trails will now disappear much faster when a blizzard event is active
Updated naming of bonus objectives to "bonus challenges" and adjusted their scale on the UI to better emphasize the importance of the primary escape objectives
When initiating the escape vehicle countdown, if a survivor is the last remaining player alive, the vehicle will now leave immediately instead of waiting for the countdown
Added sound effect that plays when sending or receiving messages via text chat to better draw attention to it
Various changes to improve UI when using a controller
Updated crossplay icon visuals to help them read better
[Steam] Added new option in general settings to toggle crossplay icon visibility outside of main menu lobby (will now be hidden in-game by default)
BALANCE CHANGES:
Traitor radio jamming ability no longer jams red radio channel
Identity Thieves now gain access to the red radio channel when stealing a traitor role
All deployed traps (bear traps, landmines, tripwires) now have a 3 second grace period before the deployer can activate them (previously only on the bear trap)
Tripwires will now slow the player who triggered them by 50% for 10 seconds
Tripwires can now be used to trap crates
Tripwires and alarm traps will now trigger their alarm when activated via the Trap Disarm Kit
Reduced duration of bear traps on polar bears
Explosive crossbow bolts no longer cause players to ragdoll
Survivor airdrop will now always appear away from the cabin
Reduced activation time for ice wall consoles from 3 seconds to 1 second
Removed "don't deal damage with tools" bonus challenge and replaced with individual challenges for not using a single type of tool
Players will now drop batteries if holding one when teleported by the Solar Flare event
Basic mode has its own drop tables for crates, to help reduce the need for crafting (Crates include: Berries, Cooked Animal Meat, Potpie, First Aid Kit, Axe, Pick Axe, Sickle, Campfire Kit, Bear Trap, Shotgun)
Animals drop additional meat when killed.
BUG FIXES:
Fixed aiming reticle missing for cloned players when aiming ranged weapons at a valid target
Fixed issues with targeting other players on controller while aiming a ranged weapon if there were any items in the path between the player and target
Fixed armory icon not being shown on map for a cloned soldier in certain cases
Fixed certain cases where game may not end if multiple players disconnect simultaneously
Fixed issue where player could get stuck while using truth serum reveal or Hunter's reveal ability on another player while the other player is downed
Fixed contextual option for Hunter's reveal ability being visible while Hunter is attacking another player
Fixed cabin radio not updating to show "repair tasks first" prompt if an objective is sabotaged after the first escape has been called
Fixed tutorial player not using correct body type
Fixed issue where camera could remain zoomed out and player animations could break when dropping a radio while aiming a ranged weapon
Fixed wolves not correctly consuming dropped meat
Fixed ghost chill and ghost heal being able to affect players onboard an escape if they disembark after the ability has been used

After a well-deserved holiday break we are back with another update. Although somewhat small due to holidays and with us being busy pushing out our newly announced Xbox builds, we still managed to pack in some special surprises!

The treats don’t end there though! We’ve heard your requests and this month’s steam store items are weapon skins! We’ve added an assortment of new weapon skins for both melee and guns - for all your murdering needs!

Sorting lobbies by status will show open preferred mode lobbies followed by other open lobbies, rather than all preferred mode lobbies first

BALANCE CHANGES:
Reduced pool of available bonus objectives in Basic Mode and reduced requirements for repair material crafting objectives and destroy signs objective
Reduced points for Identity Thief bonus objective from 1000 to 600
Updated “hunt and kill X animals” bonus objective to requirements of 1, 3 or 5 instead of 3 or 5 and change points awarded to 100, 300 and 500 respectively
Reduced points penalty for survivors damaging other survivors from -20 per 100 damage to -5 per 100 damage, and increased penalty for survivors killing other survivors from -100 to -250
BUG FIXES:
Fixed issue where progression trees could become locked on subsequent launches after unlocking and purchasing an item
Fixed issue where if several players disconnected around the same time, the may not have ended when a game over condition was met
Fixed issue where players repeatedly interacting with a bunker console could cause the bunker to open without all consoles being activated
Fixed issue where ghosts could be able to spam their fire or feast abilities
Fixed certain cases where flickering could be observed on certain areas of the UI
Fixed escape vehicle not blocking gunshots and allowing players to be shot from the opposite side while boarding

We are back with our monthly update! This update is largely focused on improving existing systems and the overall experience through balance changes and bug fixes.
You will notice the cabin has a little bit of holiday cheer sprinkled over it brought to you by the Project Winter elves - a special festive touch to prepare for the Holiday event happening soon!

NEW FEATURES & GENERAL CHANGES:
Added various holiday-themed decorations in and around the cabin
Player names can now be selected on the game over screen to view the player’s Steam profile

BALANCE CHANGES:
Reduced health reduction for consuming uncooked berries to 0
Added warmth restoration to cooked food items: 10 for berries, 25 for cooked animal meat and 50 for cooked human heart
Increased range of tripwire alarm from 100 to 250 units
Increased alert time for tripwire from 10 secs to 30 secs
Reduced crafting cost of tripwire to 1 wood, 1 stone (previously 2 wood, 1 stone)
Increased flares received from crafting recipe from 1 to 2
