We've laid the foundations, placed a bed, got a roof up, now it's time to build on what we have with the first update of 1.0, The Crafting Update!
One of our most requested features! Crafting stations can now use items from nearby storage containers. The radius for this effect is shown when placing or inspecting both chests and crafting stations.
We have over 300 placable items in Smalland now, so a little bit of tidying up is in order with extra tabs to quickly filter through the Buildable and Cosmetic menus.
A new type of scalable building block with 3 shapes - Squares? In a survival-crafting game? The smallfolk yearn for the mines...
Crafting certain items now takes time. Fuel requirements for some crafting recipes - Various resources can be used to fuel crafting stations. These are indicated with a fuel icon.
Crafting stations now have visuals to show when they are in use or not.
A craftable and placable item which stakes claim to a square plot of land outside of tree-bases. Building and interaction with items inside of the range is limited to the owner. The space can be made public for building, interaction, or both by the owner.

After almost a full year in Early Access, we've been on an epic journey through the Overland, exploring the mysterious crypts of the Giant's Fall, the gargantuan relics of the Forbidden Monuments, and the desert sands of the Amber Valleys.
Now, climb your way up the Tyrant's Perch and experience the next chapter of the Smalland: Survive the Wilds story, as we release into v1.0!
But don't worry, we aren't stopping there!

Fare well on your venture into the Overland, Smallfolk!
On February 15th with content update #4, we will be introducing events and factions, adding liveliness to the overworld! This system comes with some unique rewards, gameplay situations and replayability!
First up, the events themselves.
This is the first iteration of the event system that covers the groundwork of things to come
On debut of this system, there will be several possible combat scenarios that will spawn across the overworld, so make sure you're well equipped!
These events will appear once every 15-20 minutes and 'trigger' once you are near.
Upon successfully completing an event, you will be awarded 'contribution points', these points, can be, well, given towards any of the current four factions; Ants, Spiders, Beasts and Bees!
Each faction can also be traded with, offering tradeable armor sets and cosmetic building parts.
Once you contribute 1000 points to a faction, you can align with them to unlock a unique perk, The greater your contribution and the more store tiers that you cap out, the greater the benefit of the affiliation. These perks have various effects that help make characters more powerful in combat, better at surviving, better at taming, or better at resource gathering.

As the saying goes, what was one step for the giants, is a mighty leap for the Smallfolk! Something to keep in mind, when you tackle The Watchtower.
The Watchtower offers never before seen verticality in Smalland, so you'll need to swing, hop and glide your way through the dilapidated turret-ridden floors, to reach the top!
There are three new foes as you progress floor by floor, featuring, the Guardian, Scout and Swordmaster.
But unfortunately for you, we can't show you the best part, that would ruin the surprise. What's the point in a tower, without having something at the top of it? You'll need to find out for yourself.

Smalland: Survive the Wilds releases into 1.0 on February 15th, with that comes a host of goodies, areas and features. Here's a brief overview of what you will be getting at launch! (spoiler free, of course)
The conclusion to the first chapter of the Smallfolk's story, you've come a long way from the dirt and muck of the burrows and faced many threats, with many more still to come as you take on the watchtower, what awaits at the top? Let's see if you can get there first.

But that's not all! Things are going to be more, eventful, with..world events! We'll detail what these are, what they'll give in a future post, they'll be adding spice and variety to the world and is something we'll be building on.
Factions! Other vanguards will be hosting their own factions, offering a variety of goodies, from wings, to decorations, to perks!
Coming with this update is revamped tutorial, helping smallfolk get to grips with the core mechanics and the early game in general.
