Albion Online - philip.hucknall

The Disciples of Morgana have re-emerged from the shadows... and for the entire month of May, you can take the Morgana Challenge to collect fantastic rewards. Earn points for open-world activities, unlock chests to get valuable loot, and claim your very own Morgana Raven mount.

Embrace the Darkness

MORGANA RAVEN: This month's Challenge brings back the popular Morgana Raven, a fearsome, fast-moving flying mount with an area-of-effect Fear spell. (Note: the Morgana Raven requires the same terrain pathing as all other mounts, and cannot fly over gaps or obstacles).

AVATAR RING: Adventurers who rack up enough total Challenge Points will also earn the Morgana Challenge Avatar Ring, a menacing, fiery frame that will give your avatar an aura of dread. This non-tradable item permanently unlocks this avatar ring for one character.

SEASONAL SPECIALS: All month long, reach weekly goals to unlock Morgana Challenge chests. These chests contain valuable rewards like Adventurer's Tomes and Silver bags, along with unique Morgana-themed furniture items.

As always, you can earn Challenge Points by gathering, fishing, farming, and killing monsters. Points count simultaneously toward a daily bonus, a weekly unlockable chest, and the monthly mount. So log in, head out into the open world, gather points, and claim your rewards!

Welcome to another of our Basic Builds guides for beginner-to-intermediate players. Each guide presents a suggested build and describes how its abilities work in tandem. You can try these out as-is, or use them as a starting point to create new builds of your own.

Characteristics

This build features the Great Cursed Staff, a mage weapon that deals damage over an extended period of time.

Here’s the full breakdown!

Equipment and Skills Used

Adept’s Great Curse Staff
  • Cursed Sickle
    • Throws a sickle in a line in front of you which returns to its cast position. It applies a Vile Curse charge to every enemy it passes through, which can stack up to 4 times.
  • Armor Piercer
    • Your W casts a demonic beam in front of you, dealing damage and briefly reducing your enemies’ resistances.
  • Area of Decay
    • Your main ability channels an area which applies a Vile Curse charge every 0.8 seconds. It can be channeled for up to 3.2 seconds.
Adept’s Mage Cowl
  • Firebreath
    • Your Cowl has an offensive spell that briefly ignites enemies in a small cone in front of you
Adept’s Cleric Robe
  • Everlasting Spirit
    • The robe's active ability offers a shield upon taking damage that makes you invulnerable and increases your damage by 20% for 3 seconds
Adept’s Soldier Boots
  • Wanderlust
    • Your shoes’ active ability is a charge-up movement skill that lets you escape from fights or chase down targets
Adept’s Bag: Increases carry weight capacity

Adept’s Cape: Increases Energy and passive Energy Regeneration

Minor Poison Potion: Inflicts damage-over-time effect on targets and decreases their resistances for its duration

Catfish: Buff food that greatly increases Health Regeneration outside of combat, getting you back to full health quickly after clearing mobs

Journeyman’s Riding Horse: Brings you swiftly across the map while adding more carrying capacity

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Fast clear speed against groups of enemies
  • Good for small PvE & PvP groups
  • Damage-over-time spells allow movement between ability casts
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • Vile Curse charges can lock you in combat for an extended period
  • Not useful in large-scale fights

Playstyle
  • Your Q-spell throws a Cursed Sickle in the targeted direction which returns back to its cast position. This can place two Vile Curse charges on your enemies with every sickle. Position yourself to hit the most targets possible.
  • Vile Curse charges can stack up to four times, but it’s better if you replenish them. Casting the “fifth” charge will essentially deal four stacks worth of direct damage to the target while preserving 4 charges.
  • Your W can be used for additional damage support, as it reduces enemy resistances while also dealing direct damage.
    • It may be swapped to Grudge to combat tougher individual enemies. This empowers your auto-attacks based on how long you haven’t attacked.
  • Your E-ability channels a ground effect that rapidly applies Vile Curse charges, though you are unable to move or use any other spells while channeling it.
  • The cowl has an additional damage spell that can take down groups of enemies quickly.
  • The robe has a strong defensive skill. As long as you take damage in the 1.5 second window after activation, you will receive a shield of invulnerability that makes you immune to damage while increasing your damage output by 20% for a total of 3 seconds.
  • Your boots make up for your lack of mobility. They have a charge-up ability that allows a quick escape. While this lets you cover a lot of distance, it comes with a 1 minute cooldown.
  • An enemy encounter should look something like this:
    • Throw your Cursed Sickle towards the enemy.
    • Cast your W to reduce their resistances.
    • Use your E when you’re in a comfortable position. Don’t hesitate to cancel the spell if you need to dodge an enemy ability.
    • Recast your Q while kiting and auto-attacking. Focus on replenishing the Vile Curse charges to maximize damage.
    • Use your robe when you expect to take a burst of damage. This will make you invulnerable for 3 seconds while increasing your damage output.
  • If energy becomes an issue, it’s recommended to use the energetic passive which will continuously replenish your energy whenever you use a basic attack.

While Albion East has helped bring record numbers of players to the game, we’ve been hard at work on our next major patch, called Knightfall. In this Dev Talk, Game Director Robin Henkys takes a look at some of the features and improvements that will be introduced with this patch (subtitles are available for all supported languages):

The Mists: New Features
Three new gameplay features added to the Mists:
  • Caches: a new type of chest found in Mob Camps, with personal rewards for each player who completes the objective
  • Coffers: similar to open-world treasures, but only reveal their location to nearby players
  • Knightfall Abbey: a new type of dungeon within the Mists, which will be explored in a forthcoming Dev Talk

Roads of Avalon: Changes and Improvements

Various changes made to the Roads of Avalon:
  • Elite Camps: Difficulty and rewards rebalanced for groups of 5-7
  • Journey Back cost from Brecilien to the Roads halved
  • More off-road paths added, as well as more roaming Mobs
  • New upgrade levels of Avalonian Mages and Archers
  • Hideouts can be declared a Headquarters even without a booster
  • Power Cores in the Roads more concentrated on Raid regions

New Items

A new trader, Eralia Wayfarer, can be found in Brecilien. Depending on your Brecilien Standing, you can purchase several items here:
  • Ingredients for Brecilien Capes, with a Mists-inspired design and protective shield ability
  • Eggs to grow Mystic Owls or Elite Mystic Owls:
    • Have reduced load capacity, but very high speed
    • Elite Mystic Owls have a Glide ability, flying upwards and becoming temporarily unhittable
  • ‘Wanderer in the Mists’ Avatar and Avatar Ring for Mists veterans

At the Energy Manipulator you can now also buy ingredients for Avalonian Capes, which have a damage-debuffing energy explosion ability.

Quality-of-Life Improvements

This patch also brings several big Quality-of-Life improvements:
  • ‘Travel Mode’ display option: a partly-transparent Region Map overlaid on the screen
  • Items can be repaired at the Marketplace
  • Character gender can be changed for Gold
  • Directional movement can be bound to hotkeys (for example WASD)
  • …and much more

Along with all this, Knightfall comes with a significant number of combat balance adjustments to shake up the meta.

The patch is now on the test servers, and we look forward to receiving your feedback on these features. Join us again for another Dev Talk soon, where we’ll dive into the new Mists dungeon: Knightfall Abbey.

Welcome to another of our Basic Builds guides for beginner-to-intermediate players. Each guide presents a suggested build and describes how its abilities work in tandem. You can try these out as-is, or use them as a starting point to create new builds of your own.

Characteristics

This build showcases the regular bow. This hunter weapon has enchanted arrows that empower your auto attacks and allow you to take down strong individual mobs with ease.

Here’s the full breakdown!

Equipment and Skills Used

Adept’s Bow
  • Multishot
    • An AoE ability that knocks back and damages enemies in a cone in front of you.
  • Ray of Light
    • Your W-ability shoots an arrow into the air that lands after a small delay, rooting and damaging all enemies hit.
  • Enchanted Quiver
    • The main ability enchants your next 6 basic attacks, increasing your attack speed and damage. It can be recast within 8 seconds to perform a short dash and add another 4 enchanted arrows to your quiver, though you can never have more than 6 enchanted arrows active at one time.
Adept’s Mage Cowl
  • Firebreath
    • Your Cowl has an offensive spell that briefly ignites enemies in a small cone in front of you
Adept’s Mercenary Jacket
  • Bloodlust
    • This jacket's active ability allows you to regain some health every time you auto-attack or cast a damage spell
Adept’s Mercenary Shoes
  • Refreshing Sprint
    • Your shoes allow you to track down targets while lowering your cooldowns, they can also be used to run away from a fight.

Pros:
  • Very effective against single enemies and bosses
  • Various smaller crowd control abilities
  • Dash ability to dodge attacks
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • Weak against packs of mobs.
  • High standtime and cast time
  • Not useful in large-scale fights

Playstyle
  • Your Q-ability shoots a volley of arrows in a cone ahead of you. Besides dealing damage it also knocks back any enemies hit. This can be used to create distance or to interrupt enemy spells. It has a low cooldown so can be used for frequent damage.
  • Your W is a small-area crowd control ability that temporarily roots enemies. It can be used as an opener to keep melee enemies away.
    • It can be swapped to Frost Shot for greater mobility at the expense of some damage and crowd control.
  • Your E-ability gives you 6 enchanted arrows which will empower your next basic attacks, dealing more damage. This is useful against strong enemies that are alone.
    • This ability can also be recast within 8 seconds to perform a short dash and add another 4 enchanted arrows to your quiver. This is good at creating distance or dodging enemy spells. Not using it will shorten the ability’s cooldown.
  • The cowl has an additional damage spell that allows you to take down groups of enemies more quickly.
  • The jacket can be used to regain health. It is best used in combination with your enchanted arrows. Your Q- and W-abilities also trigger Lifesteal, so they can be used as a supplement.
  • Your shoes can be used to close a gap or to get away from the enemy. Refreshing Sprint also lowers your cooldowns, allowing you to use your abilities more frequently.
  • An enemy encounter should look something like this:
    • Use your E to activate the enchanted arrows.
    • Cast your W to keep the enemy or enemies away from you.
    • Start auto attacking the target you want to take down first.
    • Use your Q for additional damage or to interrupt enemy abilities.
    • Recast your E if you need to dodge a spell or need the bonus damage from the enchanted arrows.
    • Use your jacket when dropping below 60% health, ideally in combination with your enchanted arrows.
  • If energy becomes an issue, it’s recommended to use the energetic passive which will continuously replenish your energy whenever you use a basic attack.

Welcome to another of our Basic Builds guides for beginner-to-intermediate players. Each guide presents a suggested build and describes how its abilities work in tandem. You can try these out as-is, or use them as a starting point to create new builds of your own.

Characteristics

This build features the Nature Staff, a healing weapon located in the hunter tree that is characterized by its large area healing abilities and its thorns abilities that offer continuous damage.

Here’s the full breakdown!

Equipment and Skills Used

Adept’s Nature Staff
  • Thorn Growth
    • Your Q creates a field of thorns on the ground that applies charges to all enemies within every 0.5 seconds; it has a short cooldown and can be recast 3 times
  • Brambleseed
    • Your W places a line of seeds on the ground that will grow after a short time, throwing all enemies on top of it into the air; both these effects deal damage, the latter more so
  • Circle of Life
    • Your main ability heals up to 5 allies in a large radius around you; if enemies within that radius have at least 3 thorn charges on them, they take additional damage and are rooted for a short time
Adept’s Mage Cowl
  • Firebreath
    • Your Cowl has an offensive spell that briefly ignites enemies in a small cone in front of you
Adept’s Mercenary Jacket
  • Bloodlust
    • This jacket's active ability allows you to regain some health every time you auto-attack or cast a damage spell
Adept’s Soldier Boots
  • Rejuvenating Sprint
    • Your shoes’ active ability is a sprint that also heals you slightly
Adept’s Bag: Increases carry weight capacity

Adept’s Cape: Increases Energy and passive Energy Regeneration

Minor Poison Potion: Inflicts damage-over-time effect on targets and decreases their resistances for its duration

Pork Omelette: Increases your cast speed and cooldown rate, allowing you to use your abilities more frequently

Journeyman’s Riding Horse: Brings you swiftly across the map while adding more carrying capacity

Pros and Cons

Pros:
  • Fast clear speed
  • High sustain
  • Good for healing small PvE groups
  • Affordable
Cons:
  • No additional mobility besides boots spell
  • High standtime and cast time
  • Not suited to large-scale fights

Playstyle
  • Your Q-spell creates a field of thorns on the ground that repeatedly applies a charge to enemies within it. It can also be recast within three seconds up to three times. Using an auto-attack on an enemy within the thorns consumes them while dealing bonus damage.
  • Your W-ability places bramble seeds on the ground that shoot up after a short delay, launching enemies into the air and interrupting them. Its two damage instances allow for good synergy with the Mercenary Jacket.
  • You may change your W to Revitalize for tougher enemies. This will allow you to increase your sustain at the expense of some damage and crowd control.
  • Your E-spell is a large-area heal that can be used for group play. It has a strong synergy with Thorn Growth, as it roots all enemies that have at least 3 charges on them. It also deals some bonus damage.
  • The whole weapon kit can alternatively be used to heal groups, by switching the Q to Rejuvenation or Rejuvenating Flower and the W to anything other than Brambleseed.
  • The cowl has an additional damage spell that allows you to take down groups of enemies more quickly.
  • The jacket can be used to regain health. It is best used in combination with your W and E-abilities as they can hit multiple targets and apply lifesteal charges more quickly. Your Q does not trigger Bloodlust as it doesn’t deal direct damage. Auto-attacks are also advised while using this jacket.
  • Your boots offer a sprint ability that can regain a small amount of health quickly, while providing increased movement speed.
  • An enemy encounter should look something like this:
    • Stack multiple Thorn Growths and try to get all enemies inside the areas.
    • Use the W to keep them away from you or to interrupt their key abilities.
    • Cast your E when all enemies have multiple thorn stacks on them.
    • Use auto-attacks on the enemy you’re trying to finish off for additional damage.
    • When you drop to low health, use your jacket followed by Brambleseed and auto-attacks. You may also use your boots to create space and heal even more.
  • Energy can be an issue, so it’s recommended to use the energetic passive and auto-attack enemies in between cooldowns.

After a successful Closed Beta and Early Access period, Albion's new server, Albion East, launched for all players worldwide on March 20. That day, the surge of new players reached 277,000 total active users, a new all-time record for the game. And just over a week later, on Sunday, April 2, that record was smashed when the servers had a combined total of over 300,000 active users!

(Note: for the purposes of this chart, "users" refers to active accounts.)

During these record-breaking windows, active Steam users also reached their highest-ever numbers for the game, with a new all-time peak of 25,833 concurrent players on Steam alone, which is just a fraction of Albion's overall player numbers.

The previous record of 271,000 daily active users was set in June 2021, after the official mobile launch of the game. The recent launch of Albion East achieved this milestone without introducing a new platform, and represents a strong start for the game's new two-server system.

Spring has sprung, and Albion’s most bold and brave are rushing across the lands. For they know that this is the time of year when special chests appear, containing seasonal objects and maybe even prized Spring Cottontail Eggs.

But this time a new type of egg has been discovered, one which has spelled trouble for more than one unfortunate adventurer…

Yes, the Rites of Spring are here for the next two weeks! And to mark the occasion, we’ve created a brand new video:

Ruthless Rabbits Released!
As with last year’s event, Spring Treasure Chests will appear in the open world, containing valuable items and - sometimes - a Vibrant Spring Cottontail Egg, which can be raised into the Spring Cottontail mount. This year, though, you might come across a darker, more sinister type of egg. By all means raise these too, but be careful - you’re about to unleash the Caerleon Cottontail!

This is a vengeful, vicious version of the Spring Cottontail. Like its cute cousin, it is a mount with a quick hop ability. But this one comes with other, more terrifying talents. If you manage to rear one, they will repay your trust and act as a loyal steed. Your enemies, on the other hand, won’t be so fortunate…

The Eerie Cottontail Egg is extremely rare - so get out there now and start ransacking those chests to find one!

Further Treasures Await
Along with these rare and valuable rewards, Colored Eggs are once again sprouting across the lands, containing chocolate, Surprise Eggs, and, very occasionally, Cottontail Eggs. Furthermore, all chests will be spawning at an increased rate for the next two weeks - so there’s abundant wealth to be found out there. And Albion’s vanity merchants will be hawking their seasonal wares once again, like the Eggsecutioner vanity weapon, “Bunny Stalker” Wardrobe items, and more.

The Rites of Spring runs until April 19 at 23:00 UTC on Albion East, and April 20 at 10:00 UTC on Albion West. So go and head out into the open world today and see what treasures await. Who knows, you might end up with a fierce new friend…
