Those Who Remain - WIREDGary
Those Who Remain has a Discord - and you're invited!

Hello there everybody!

We are back from PAX East and refreshed and absolutely enthralled with all the enthusiasm we've seen since people got hands on with the game! That being said, we do have a couple of small updates for you.

Rezzed

First of all, with the organisers decision to postpone EGX Rezzed at the end of the month, we will unfortunately be unable to attend and give the UK audience a chance to see the game.

Whilst we share the disappointment of the organisers and general gaming community in this, we stand by their decision as the right thing to do given the circumstances, and instead will point you towards our Publishers Twitch page for any pre-release events, coverage and developer talks in the run up to launch!

Wired Productions Twitch

Discord

Secondly, we have our own Discord, and its doors have been opened to the public!

{LINK REMOVED}

Whether you want to keep up to date with the game, get in touch with the developers,
or simply chill out and talk shop about horror games and share spooks with other like-minded gamers - this is the place to be!

We are getting awfully close to launch time, and will have plenty of exciting pre-release coverage and updates lined up for you along the way!

Thank you so much to everyone who has supported us so far!

And stay in the light....

Those Who Remain - jaket
Those Who Remain started with a very simple premise. We wanted to create a game where we could play around with lights and darkness; where the player would die if he stepped into the dark. It all started with this simple idea.

It sounded great on paper, but when we built a prototype to test the mechanics... it just didn't work. Light gets gradually dark, so it's impossible to visually explain to the player where it's safe and where it's dangerous.
So we scrapped the original plan, but kept working on the same idea, a game where darkness would be dangerous.

But we added so much more: dimensional portals; moral choices; different endings;
and the game grew and grew and three years later, here we are now, announcing with great excitement that the game will release on May 15th.

So, very soon you'll be able to play as Edward and visit the accursed Dormont and find out what the hell is going on with that place.
Why is Edward in Dormont? Why is everything dark? What are these strange portals?
Too many questions, but if you get what it takes to get to the end, you'll get the answers.

It's been a lot of work, and it wouldn't have been possible to have the game as it is today without the help of our great partners: Wired Productions and Whisper Games.

The countdown starts - we hope to see you in Dormont.

Sending our love from PAX East!

That's right.
As the light at the end of the tunnel (AKA release) approaches, so does the time to show to the public what we've been up to for the last 3 years.

We couldn't be more excited about it - we're going to PAX East, and we're bringing all the dark shadows from Dormont with us.

We'll be at our publisher's booth, so all you need to do is search for some strange immaterial darkness in the show, we'll be there.
You can also listen to the dark whispers and follow the voices, they'll take you to us.

Or you can just search for the Wired Productions' booth, that'll work too.

And last but not least - are you following the game on Twitter?
It's easy to find:

Working on a game like Those Who Remain is both challenging and exciting.
The game is coming for 4 platforms (PC, PS4, Xbox One, Switch), 11 subtitled languages and 3 fully localized languages (with audio).

This means that when production is nearly complete, there's still a lot to do.
And that's where we are now - although the game is *nearly finished*, playable from beginning to end and with everything working as it should, we're still implementing languages, polishing a few things here and there and doing tests and more tests - it's never too much, and we want the game to be bug-free at launch.

We also have the console ports, which are also shaping up while all this is being worked on. Xbox One version is finished and certified.
It can be a titanic task for a small team, but luckily we have amazing partners that really help pushing things forward.
So when will the game be released? :)
One thing is certain: we don't want to announce a release date that we won't be able to fulfill.

We're working closely with our partners to be sure when we can set a date that makes sense to everyone, and once that happens, the countdown starts.
And this is something that feels very gratifying to us - everyone involved (both our partners) is looking forward to releasing a great game, as polished and fun as it can be.
No cutting corners, no rushed releases, nothing that can harm the player experience.

At the same time, we can't wait to have a release date that we can share to the world.
We're getting there :)

He's also waiting for the release date.

Hello everyone!

We have a big announcement coming soon. Big! :enraged:
But until then, check out the differences between the real world and the "other place".
Some scenes you'll visit during this twisted adventure!

Hello everyone,

We want to make a small update about the UI and general configuration that will be available in the game at release.

First, localization.
This is quite important for some players, so we thought about this from the start.
We developed a system that reads localization texts from XML files in realtime, and allows us to change language ingame in realtime.

No need to change branches. Everything is done in a single game build:

Another important thing that many players ask for, is key remapping.
We got you covered - it’s possible to remap the keyboard keys. If you're left-handed, if you don't have a Qwerty keyboard, or if you just want to use other keys, you can easily remap them.
This should be a standard in all PC games, and we entirely support this from the start:

Full gamepad support is also included in the game.
If you're the kind of gamer that enjoys playing from the couch with a wireless controller, we have you covered too:

Here you can see what will be available regarding GFX configuration.
Also important to many players: FOV settings (4k monitor users will appreciate it), Vertical sync (if you like to play with maximum fps), Texture and Shadow quality in case your machine is struggling with the game speed:

Finally, post processing.

We love how the game looks and feels with bloom and noise on and using Temporal anti-aliasing.
Not everyone feels the same though, and with that in mind, we give you the option to change all that too.
Temporal anti-aliasing looks great and makes the game feel more cinematic, but it also introduces a bit of motion blur.
If you don’t like that, there are 3 other Anti-aliasing options available:

Are we missing something in the game options that you feel should be present?
Let us know!

And the last announcement regarding GDC... Those Who Remain is nominated for the Game Connection Development Awards in several categories!
There's also the "People's Choice Award", which is awarded to the game that gets more likes on the game's post.
