An early christmas present, and a sneak peek of things to come
Update 0.41EB is here! And with it comes something you've wanted for a long while~
Graybox Customisation
Aim Lab made its debut with Graybox, a simple environment with very little to it - A staging ground for everything that we have now. It's a good map, but it's time it got a fresh lick of paint.
0.41EB brings a new section to the custom suite - Graybox, in which you can customise your Graybox environment to your hearts content. Control the texture and colour of the map with a variety of presets and full RGB Spectrum adjustment, to get the look you want.
Any changes made to Graybox also affect non-default Graybox maps, like the maps for Snipershot and Pentakill, so you need not worry about having to set it for each and every mode and map. Simply set it up once and you're good to go!
Bug fixes and tweaks.
-Changed Apex Legends FOV from actual 4:3 degrees to ingame FOV value -Disabled FOV settings for Rules of Survival -Fixed CircleTrackCustom title showing up as Blinkshot -Added PUBG Scope settings. -Fixed font issues in loading screen for mode -Fixed Register screen to say "Login" instead of "Return" -Fixed scoring percentile issues in Gridshot, Microshot, Strafetrack and Circletrack -Fixed lighting issue in Graybox Freetrack, Blinkshot and Ninjashot.
What's coming next
Being able to customise colours and textures is all well and good - But I think we all want to be able to take maps a little further.
Well, have I got good news for you. Our team has been hard at work this holiday season putting together something you've been asking for for some time.
I am happy to announce that Map Creation will be coming to Aim Lab, just one of the many things we're eager to get in your hands come the new year.
We'll have a little more to show off soon, but for now - Stay tuned.
Closing notes
This year has been our fastest growing year since we first announced Aim Lab. In less than one year our community has absolutely exploded, from just a few thousand users to us hitting the absolutely colossal landmark of one million users on Steam!
Aim Lab would not be what it is today without the support of people like you. Your feedback has helped us to take what we had and make it so much more complete - And we've still got a ways to go.
This year has been absolutely huge for us - And we hope that we can make next year even better!
Thank you to our wonderful community members, no matter the platform. You have helped to forge a community of positivity and accessibility the likes of which i've personally never had the joy of knowing before. You've forged a community that people are not afraid to engage in, one that users of all skill levels feel included in, and one that people are not afraid to ask for help in.
You guys are the best community we could have ever asked for.
And so, it is from all of us here at the Aim Lab Team that we say - Thank you!
We hope that each and every one of you enjoy this holiday season, and we look forward to seeing you again in the New Year!
Welcome to version EB 0.40 - A new UI, a new gun, and a great cause!
New UI
EB 0.40 brings a fresh coat of paint to Aim Lab in more ways than one - You will find the *entire* user interface has been redesigned from the ground up to be more simplistic, easier to follow, and beyond all - Convenient.
This new UI brings many long-sought features to Aim Lab, from a pre-task and in-task video to help you understand the task better, to the ability to *instantly open your leaderboards score after a round*, and just about everything inbetween.
Post round feedback has received a fresh lick of paint too - Including vital fixes to percentiles and feedback.
New gun - The Desert Eagle
For all intents and purposes - The Desert Eagle is a cleaner, more updated version of the 9mm pistol. It carries the same stats and recoil, but with a far more *tacticool* model. This will, in time, become the default weapon for most tasks, taking the place of the 9mm as a spiritual successor, but right now - It's just along for the ride.
New feature - Crosshair uploading
Ever had your eyes on a crosshair in a game that you just can't replicate? Or perhaps one a little outlandish? Well, now you can upload just about any image as a custom crosshair for your shooting pleasure! Aim with anything from a dot to a square picture of Danny Devito, and everything in-between!
And finally, in keeping with the Christmas spirit...
Aim lab x Gamers Outreach
We're proud to announce our partnership with Gamers Outreach - A charity helping to bring videogames and joy to millions of children across America!
Gamers Outreach is doing amazing things not just for gaming - But for gamers as a whole. And we're happy to play our part.
Until January 10th, you can purchase the Aim Lab Holiday Pack ingame or online, containing 2 player models and 6 christmas-themed weapon skins, these will surely help you to feel the holiday cheer.
Furthermore - 100% of all profits go directly to Gamers Outreach and their GO Kart program - Bringing gaming to kids in need.
Thank you to every single player that has supported us so far - We are only where we are because of you, and this amazing community you have come together to create.
From every single one of us here at Aim Lab - Happy Holidays!
Later this coming week we will be posting a road map to show you guys a little more of what we have going on in the background and what to expect over the coming weeks months for Aim Lab. Things such as Workshop support, Academy etc. But, first we would like to say thanks to everyone for sending us your suggestions, bug reports and feedback in general, its been a tremendous help and we are so lucky to have such a wonderful, passionate community! That being said we have had a decent gap in updates lately and I am here to show you what we have been working on in that time that is just about ready for release. This post will serve as a preview to the upcoming UI overhaul and we have completely redesigned Aim Lab from the ground up(all your tasks are exactly the same) but the UI is now a lot easier to see, read, navigate and looks fantastic. The screenshots and info I share below is still likely to change a bit.
LOGIN Not much has changed here functionality wise but we have redesigned it to look much cleaner.
HOME SCREEN This is still a tad unfinished and a few last min tweaks need made but for the most part is complete. We added quick tab buttons to hop between the different main menu pages. As you can see assessment has been removed, which I will go more into detail about when we get to the new loadout screen.
SETTINGS Mostly just a redesign here with the change to the targets tab to “Game” this will have the same target options that were there as well as a new option that we will talk about a little closer to release.
TASK SELECTION Another nice redesign here, however based on some recent decisions made this screen will most likely be revamped a little further down the road once we implement some new features.
Leaderboards Starting to look a little cleaner, easier to sort and find the scores you want.
LOADOUT This is the new loadout screen it shows a small video showing what the task you are playing is like, allows you to select weapon, map and displays your selected weapon front and center. There will be lots of tweaks coming to this screen in the future which I will go over in more detail in the roadmap being announced later in the week. Here you will also see a checkbox labeled “Practice Only”. Previously we had 2 separate menus with the exact same tasks in each of those menus “Training” & “Assessment” the difference between the 2 was with training your stats do not impact your skill card/data profile and scores do not get posted to leaderboards. So rather than having 2 separate menus, checking practice only will make it so your scores are not posted to leaderboards or effect your training data.
LOADING SCREEN Redesigned to be easier to read and show a small video of the upcoming task, this video will be replaced in the future with full video/audio instructions on how the task is played and how it benefits you.
RESULTS SCREENS
These are still a work in progress but are looking a lot better, you guys asked for keyboard shortcuts to quickly do things such as exit, share and replay task so thats exactly what we did here. Insights on the right tell you how you performed based on previous plays, this is just the first step in bringing you guys more in depth analysis and starting to offer a way to show progress over time much more to come on this in the near future. Leaderboards will also eventually have their own tab here to see stats for this specific task. Also more sharing options coming soon(Facebook, Twitter etc)
Again thanks for sticking around on this wild ride as we continue to attempt to make Aim Lab the best it can be, please continue with the Feedback and Bug Reports its helped tremendously and we look forward to hearing from each one of you. Let us know in the comments what you think of the new redesign, any questions you have or anything else you'd like us to know!
We just hit 1 million downloads and want to thank each and every one of you for not only giving Aim Lab a shot but for all the suggestions, feedback and bug reports we truly wouldn't be at this point today if it weren't for all of you awesome folks.
Updates have been a little lite lately(but for good reason we promise). We have been working on a few very big things and can't wait to show you. Keep an eye out in announcements because within the next few days we will be sharing some screenshots and info on the updates that will be coming over the next few weeks/months.
Gridshot - has three modes, standard, speed, and precision. In precision mode, target size adapts to performance as you progress. In speed mode, targets will shrink in size the longer they are left alive, making them more difficult to hit.
Bug Fixes
Reworked and improved Circletrack and Circletrack Custom tasks. - No more getting stuck near walls.mMovement patterns and parameters have also been adjusted and optimized. Base difficulty level raised. Targets will now lose health as you track them, die, and respawn. No more unrealistically tracking the same target for 60s.
Fixed Circletrack and Strafetrack Ultimate modes to choose random sizes and speeds when they respawn.
Added percentile rank scores to Multishot results screen
Fixed bug that would cause percentile ranks in Spidershot, Reflexshot, Microshot, Microflex, and Motionshot to all be based on Spidershot metrics rather than their respective tasks
Fixed bug that caused Microflex RT values to be 2x their actual values
Fixed bug that caused Multishot RT values to be 2x their actual values
