Single Player Campaign Development - Warmachines
As revealed in the previous issue of Archangel Announcements, we've opted to create a single-player campaign where you take the role of a mercenary doing various dirty jobs for the different factions on a wartorn planet. Our previous episode of Wednesday Warzone revealed this planet's name to be "Baja Secunda".
Baja Secunda is a planet known for its wide swathes of arid wasteland, though it wasn't always this way; it was once a 'paradise planet' akin to an untouched Earth. This all changed during the Incursion Wars with the Demiurge : Massive weapons of mass destruction were fielded and destroyed much of the planet's ecology. Much of the planet was reduced to an arid wasteland, and the few places that can still sustain human habitation currently suffer from rapid desertification.
Despite this, Baja Secunda is the site of a growing conflict between two powerful 'Imperial Prefectures' and their many allies. There is also a rising anti-Imperial sentiment among the populace of Baja Secunda, and it has led to a separatist revolt in this time of instability. Now, there is a high demand for mercenaries... and weapons.
Along with the Archangels our players know about, here are just some samples of the warmachines you may see (and fight) in the single-player campaign.
Tanks!
Helicopters!
Planes!
And here is the 'grandaddy' of the Archangels, the Angel 'Powersuit' units that the Solar Empire fielded during its infancy. Archangels were developed from overengineering the original designs, and became so large that they could no longer be called 'powersuits'. These Angel powersuits, though less powerful and lightly armored, are still commonly fielded by various paramilitary groups.
These different enemy types may also be added to the existing horde mode, replacing earlier levels of Archangels. More to follow as development continues!
New Weapon Coming : The Peacemaker
Rather than two new weapons, we'll only be releasing one weapon at the end of the month, called the 'Peacemaker'.
It is a pistol manufactured by Eagle Enterprises, and will be the first 500 weight hand gun weapon in the game.
It will be released to the public on the fourth week of September, and possibly earlier on the preview branch.
CONTEST : ARCHANGEL ARMS CONCEPT CONTEST 2018
Want to add a new weapon to the world of Garrison: Archangel? Win this contest and we'll work with you to make it! You can even win a free steam key and add to the lore of the universe!
Rules and more contest detailsHERE. ( goo. gl/forms/4kTW1ZzRhrkOZF9D3 )
The contest is open to everyone, and it does not require a purchase of the game! Entries will be open until September 26, 2018 only!
General Bug Fixing and Game Mechanics Development Continues
As always, our discord and steam page is open to receive comments and bug reports. Bug fixes and small mechanics updates come frequently through the preview branch, and go into public once issues have been stabilized.
You can learn how to opt into the preview branch here.
More rules and details will follow soon! Stay tuned for announcements in our various social media!

Major Graphics and Game System Update
If you have been following our preview builds and previous announcements, as well as our Wednesday Warzones, you should be aware of the major game mechanics and physics overhaul that came out with the latest update. This update also affects network play, and fixes some issues present in previous iterations of the netcode.
On top of this major system change, we've also upgraded the graphics of the game, changing up hitsparks, thruster flares, adding postprocessing and bloom, as well as other graphic tweaks.
As a result, the game looks and feels a lot different from before, and hopefully, for the better!
There are so many changes from the previous iteration of the public build (0.14) that we literally have a thread here dedicated to the collected changelogs. If you are coming in from 0.14 and haven't played any of the preview builds, we suggest you see these changes for yourself in the latest update (0.15)
Try it out and tell us what you think!
Single Player Campaign Development - Upgrades and Concepts
As discussed in the previous issue of Archangel Announcements, we've opted to create a single-player campaign where you take the role of a mercenary doing various dirty jobs for the different factions on a wartorn planet.
Depending on the missions you take and the enemies you make, you will gain access to parts, weapons and other rewards.
We've allowed the players to gain access to certain weapons and bodies by entering a code/cheat as discussed in the update announcement here. These represent rewards from specific factions.
But what players have yet to see are 'upgraded' forms of the existing parts, which you can unlock by doing missions, and using the currency gained to enhance the 'basic' versions of such equipment.
For example, here is an upgraded Lynx :
The entirety of the planned single-player campaign takes place on a desert planet called Baja Secunda, where several factions fight for control of various resources and territories, such as solar farms.
All of what is presented thus far is a work in progress. More will be revealed as development continues. Please look forward to more in the future.
New Parts Coming : Asymmetric Shoulder Shield and Jump Jets
Staying true to the pattern of updates thus far, we are releasing two new parts at the end of this month.
The first is a Medvedev-made Asymmetric Shield mounted on the shoulder, which gives the capabilities of a held shield without requiring a free hand.
The second are shoulder-mounted jumpjets made by Stahlwalder, that provide a boost to upward movement and provide a free jump maneuver with a 3 second cooldown.
They will be released to the public on the fourth week of August.
Fashion Fight Winner Cosmetic Revealed!
Anubis, the winner of the Fashion Fight competition held a few months ago, will soon be outfitted by a special alternate Halo Shield in a future update (4th week of august update). This design was made through the cooperation of the G:A Dev Team, and the creator of the Anubis submission - SeijiTataki.
The cosmetic will simply be called the 'Anubis Shield', and will also be made available for all players.
More fashion options for everyone!
CONTEST : ARCHANGEL ARMS CONCEPT CONTEST 2018
As promised by Paolore in previous announcements, we will be having a weapon design contest that will begin on the last week of August.
It will be open to all players and interested parties. You can create your own Archangel weaponry and join for a chance to have it added to the game.
Two winners can receive Steam Keys and in-game/lore credit (Alternatively, you may make your own lore to explain the weapon's origins!)
Categories :
- Rearmed and Refitted - Create your own design of an existing weapon in the game. Have your own idea for a large railgun sword, like the Dominus? Show us your designs!
- The Cutting Edge - For aspiring weapons engineers who think they have a weapon idea that will revolutionize warfare in the Garrison: Archangel universe. Sky's the limit!
More rules and details will follow soon! Stay tuned for announcements in our various social media!

There's been a lot of ups and downs the past month, but development continues! Help us make this game the customizable mecha fighting game of our dreams!

Hi! This one is a big update. If you've been following our development schedule, instead of releasing weekly for the public, we pushed our updates to a separate opt-in branch called "preview". This allowed us to release updates more often as well as to be able to thoroughly fix game breaking bugs with the help of our players. In this update, we release the latest version of v0.15 to the public.
This is just an overview. The full changelogs can be found here.
Versioning Change If you've noticed, the latest version is now v0.15 instead of v0.2.15. We're introducing this change to make things simpler since the second digit doesn't really make sense and makes things more complicated. The doesn't affect anything outside of the versions being displayed in the title screen.
Welcome to our second issue of Archangel Announcements.

New Update Direction : Preview Opt-in
We have decided to change the way in which we release updates for the game. Thus far, we had been updating the publicly accessible game weekly, though several major updates we had released suffered from severe bugs and problems that we regretfully had missed or overlooked.
We are a small indie company, and admittedly, we do not have the resources to continue operating with weekly updates like before without running into such issues.
This is why, we have decided to space out our public release updates, without strictly adhering to weekly schedules. This way we can ensure that only our most recent stable build will always be what is publicly accessible.
However, to go with this change, we intend to make a 'preview' version of the game which we will update very frequently (potentially nightly), representing our very latest (and most likely buggy) version of the game. Players may opt into playing this version of G:A and see the latest progress of the game's development if they do not mind dealing with bugs.
We will create a thread in the game's Discussion Forum to track these Preview Updates, as opposed to the announcements we make for Public Release Updates.
More details and instructions on how to opt in to this new system will follow. Stay tuned to our social media and our discussion forums this friday. (07/06/18)
Major Netcode Development Continues
Last month, we discussed our major rework of the game's physics framework to better improve our netcode. We are still in the process of fixing this issue. We aim to fully complete the transition by the end of the month.
We may start testing the new physics and netcode via our preview updates (as explained above) by the second week of July.
Visual Updates and Optimization
We will be updating the visuals for the game, following optimization of its graphics for lower end machines. These updates will include changes to the in-game UI, lighting, hitsparks and projectile particles and trails.
Our Wednesday Warzones will serve as a visual preview of our planned changes going forward, so make sure to subscribe to our youtube channel (links below!) We may also start integrating them in our preview updates, as mentioned above.
Second Bi-monthly Balance
July will be our second month for balancing. We have had several new weapons and parts come out from the previous two months, and several "OP" equipment have come to light. Some older weapons may also need updating as a result of the new balance changes and available equipment pool.
We intend to release the balance changes in the update of 07/13/18.
New Single-Player Focus!
We have officially shifted our focus from fully online multiplayer and progression to making a fully realized single-player experience.
This does not mean we have abandoned our initial plans for a fully-formed multiplayer experience with online stores, leaderboards and progression, only that it will be moved down the development line in favor of our new direction.
Neither does this mean that we will give up our core arena multiplayer game modes. We will continue to balance around PVP and update content for our existing couch and online play.
Now, for the campaign's details!
We intend to make a single-player campaign in which you play as a mercenary accepting missions and upgrading your equipment by buying upgrades and new parts.
As you progress, certain factions will either become your friends... or your enemies. It all depends on the missions you choose to fulfill... and who you decide to fight.
More details on this will follow! Stay tuned to our social media updates and Wednesday Warzones to come!
New Parts Coming!
Staying true to the pattern of updates thus far, we are releasing some new parts at the end of this month.
We aim to add two new shoulder weapons at the end of this month.
One of them will be from a never before seen manufacturer, "Bleeding Edge Designs"!
Fashion Fight Winners, New Presets and Updates!
Congratulations to our fashion fight winners, Anubis, Bad Cop, and the Type 89 A8M "Ripzaku"! They will be added as presets in the game and to the canon of the lore!
As per our last update, we had also added two new presets, Rude Boi and SSS.Crimsontrigger, made by members of the Dev Team!
On top of this, we revisited some of our older presets and updated them with our newer weapons. We hope they give everyone a more unique challenge this time around!

We hope you stick through with us as we continue development of this game, so we can make it the mecha game of our dreams!

This emergency update was to address the black screens appearing for client players in online games. This issue was linked to our camera optimization and is now fixed.
However, it should be noted that the Labrys Gigantas special abilities currently do not properly work for the client side in our online multiplayer. We know about this bug and are currently working to fix it, which we hope will be resolved by the next update.
We considered delaying this update to resolve both issues, but decided that we could not leave an entire game mode unplayable until then.
Hi! This weekly update introduces three new weapons to the game! The full buglist is here.
New Hand Weapon : LABRYS GIGANTAS! The new weapon is a giant axe that deals massive and quick damage but suffers from a lack of mobility and slow recovery. However, it can charge up by holding down its special command, allowing for various types of projectiles to be fired depending on the level attained!
New Shoulder Weapons : TRAILBLAZER and ORTHRUS! The new shoulder weapons are the Trailblazer Thrusters and the Orthrus Scatterguns! The Trailblazer grants passive forward boost bonuses and a quick charge maneuver, while the Orthrus essentially consists of two shoulder-mounted shotguns! More shoulder part options!
New Presets and Updated Presets! A lot has changed over the past iterations of the game. We have updated certain presets but found the rest of the roster lacking and obsolete. So most of the roster, with the exception of the champion builds, have been changed. We also added two new presets, made by members of the Garrison: Archangel team who want Archangels in the canon to represent their true (chuuni) self : 'SSS-CRIMSON.TRIGGER' and 'RUDE BOI'.
Various Optimizations! We've done some optimizations in game that allow lower-end machines to run the game smoothly. We hope you guys enjoy a smoother experience as you play the game!
Music List Update! We've decided all our songs to the custom game music list, including several new tracks: Blood-tinged Heaven, ARCHANGEL ~Shiny Groove~, and Simulacrum of Civility. They have been featured in our various videos on youtube as well as our anime trailer. We've also returned Woeful Sky (Menu theme) and Soliloquy of Restless Dream (Garage theme) to the selectable music list as per request.
Horde Voice Update! We've added a third batch of voices from our volunteers to horde mode! Now you kill less Paolores when you play! Thank you to Elosacle, Vol Ventura, and Maple from our Discord for contributing their voices! You can submit your own voices by following these instructions! here!
Fashion Fight is over! Fashion Fight is over! Stay tuned for our announcements over the weekend for the winners! As per popular request we have decided to include all three finalists in our next update!
Development continues! Our plans are outlined in the Archangel Announcements Issue released in the first week of June. Next week, we will make a new announcement post for our plans for July!
STEAM SUMMER SALE! Until July 6, Garrison: Archangel will have a 10% discount as part of the Summer Steam Sale! Get your friends and family to try the game today!

Hi! This weekly update consists of just some minor bugfixes and adjustments. The full buglist is here.
SchAFer Balancing Part 2 SchAFer's effective range has been reduced to 75%, the second part of its balancing after its ammo reduction from last week.
Rapid Missiles Fix We just noticed that the shoulder linear missiles individually dealt 250 stab damage. This was a mistake. They have been reduced to their old value of 100 damage.
Thruster Animations A small visual feature in which the X-Thruster and the Charger Thruster now animate depending on the direction you are boosting in!
Various bugfixes and Feature Fixes Mostly bugfixes pertaining to the new Death Tickets mode and mech save files being corrupted.
Fashion Fight Continues! Fashion Fight's poll continues! Make sure you vote for your favorite Archangels here! The polling ends on June 28!
Development continues! Our plans are outlined in the Archangel Announcements Issue released last week. Next week, we will release three new weapons, the Trailblazer Thrusters, Orthrus Scatterguns, and the Labrys Gigantas!
