Here's what's changed in Murom Suburbs: - Fixed some priority issues with traffic. - Fixed license plates on some traffic cars. - Added more objects to cause a fine upon collision. - Improved traffic logic when there are many cars moving in a row. - Fixed trees showing up on the road. - Fixed sky in 5th scenario. - Fixed an error which prevented 5th scenario from loading. - Now cars are spawned in a more random way.
Fixes on other maps: - Fixed a problem which caused control issues in some scenarios in Serpukhov. - Fixed a problem with Anti-Aliasing in Settings. - Slightly edited doors and windows on some buses. - Fixed a problem causing objects near the screen edges to disappear in VR mode. - Fixed a problem preventing Winter mode of Serpukhov from loading.
Update 6.4 is now available, bringing Scenarios to Murom Suburbs! After some updates dedicated to fixing bugs, now it's the perfect time to implement new content. So, after updating the game you'll see a new entry "Murom Suburbs" in "Scenarios" mode, which contains some new scenarios. We won't describe them here to make sure you'll explore them by yourself.
What's changed:
- Added Scenarios for Murom Suburbs map. - Blinkers now turn off automatically when the player returns the steering wheel into the central position. - Added sounds when the player enables or disables blinkers. - Fixed some textures to solve problems on certain buses. - Added the preset for DualShock 3 controller (tested with ScpToolkit driver, other drivers are not confirmed to be working correctly, so you may need to configure it by yourself). - Now, an alert will pop up if you try to assign a key, which is already assigned to another control option. - Further Murom Suburbs optimization. - Fixed an error causing pedestrians to walk back and forth on the pedestrian crossing. - Fixed some bugs which could occur in navigation system.
- Adjusted traffic logic: There should be much less situations when there are too many cars in the player's lane, while the opposite lane is almost empty. - Fixed a problem sometimes causing passengers to stand inside of a traffic car. - Fixed clipping of the camera through seats when player turns back in first person mode. - Fixed problems related to lighting, shadows and glares. - Fixed a bug causing left windshield bar on Hungarian Legend DLC to be yellow even when current livery is the white one. - Improved traffic trajectories. Fixed some places where cars could swerve of the road. - Fixed "brick" signs in some places. - Added fines for colliding with some fences and buildings. - Slightly adjusted suspension of traffic. - Fixed the issue causing the fog to appear and disappear very quickly. - Changed the ambient sound when driving in winter. - Increased bus ticket price on Murom Suburbs map. - A new option in Settings, allowing you to adjust camera height in VR mode. - The engine no longer shuts off if you shift to neutral gear without engaging clutch. - Fixed a texture and markup on the road near Murom Stadium.
- Fixed a bug which caused steering wheel settings to reset after the game was minimized. - Un-assigned steering wheel axis from the horizontal camera movement in the garage in order for the bus not to rotate when a wheel or controller is connected. Note: it would still rotate if preset for controller is assigned, but steering wheel is connected because axis on the controllers correspond to the pedals axis on steering wheel, which return -1 in the default state. - Fixed minor graphical issues in the garages. - Fixed some paths of passengers on Murom bus stops. - Fixed a problem on initial bus causing the door to show incorrectly when opened/closed on the blue livery. - Adjusted tachometer on some buses. - Traffic cars now drive faster on turns. - Localization changes. - Other minor changes.
It's now three years since Bus Driver Simulator first appeared in Steam Early Access for everyone. We can remember the moment when we started working on the game and when we presented you our first concepts. You can take a look at the first announcement of the game from March, 2017. You can clearly see that only a small area of Serpukhov and one bus (which was later fully re-made) were available. Probably, little of you know that cars, passengers and pedestrians on this video are pre-animated objects, meaning that there were no people who could enter the bus or walk around the city then. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2M2SFVid6no As usual, we'll take a look at what we've done in these three years:
Content
A lot of content and functionality was implemented comparing to the initial Early Access Build. A big number of new buses, liveries and upgrades were added, as well as Career Mode with petrol stations and garages. Dynamic day/night cycle, weather and even season can have an influence on number of passengers and cars on roads. Thanks to map and mini-map, it's now much easier to navigate, and driving is more enjoyable with radio (which can be enabled by pressing V).
Cities and routes
Of course, there are quantitative changes as well. The original city (Serpukhov, Russia) was expanded; another city (Cologne, Germany) was added and also expanded; finally, Murom with it suburbs of great area, was added. The number of various bus stops and routes has increased, a new passengers have appeared. Players have much more possibilities now.
Graphics
We've dramatically changed (almost made from scratch) nearly all the textures and models of buildings, roads, cars, road signs. Lighting has been reworked as well, so graphics level now is at least two times better than it was two years ago.
Optimization
Performance was increased too even when graphics became better. Now it loads faster, consumes less resources, so there are more PCs which support it. Now it can maintain stable 40FPS on Ultra Settings even on obsolete 5 years old PCs. Of course, we've still got something to work towards.
Controllers
One of the most difficult tasks was to make a steering wheel work independently of its configuration, manufacturer etc. Also, we added presets for various steering wheel and made settings flexible. Also, we added presets for the most popular steering wheels and gamepads. The most important and difficult problem here is Force Feedback support. Players asked us to implement it since it was released in Early Access and we managed to do it. However, it still doesn't work perfectly fine, so we're aimed at continuing work in this sphere.
Other cars on roads
Traffic cars were made from scratch, starting from models and finishing with their code base, which allowed them to accelerate and brake smoother, yield the road when necessary and behave more realistic in general. We think that almost none of you remember when cars drove at 20 km/h, jumped and swerved off the road like every minute right? :) When working on Murom Suburbs, we made the new traffic lights system and many other things. Actually, we're a little bit ashamed of how much of the traffic system had to be re-made. There's nothing left from its very first version.
Pedestrians
We've added pedestrians on the streets of both cities, and it made them much more alive. They can cross the road and avoid obstacles, so that the game is more realistic.
Localisations
The game is now translated into 13 languages which allowed a lot of people from different countries to join our community.
Consoles
Bus Driver Simulator has become available not only for PC, but also for Sony PlayStation 4, Microsoft Xbox One, Nintendo switch, and, thanks to backward compatibility, on Sony PlayStation 5 and Microsoft Xbox Series X/S.
All of this is possible also thanks to your support. Your feedback and moral support helped us not to lose faith in the project. It allowed us to continue working and implement these features no matter what. We made almost everything we wanted, and now we're even more self-confident. Of course, more updates are waiting for you, and we're already working on them to make Bus Driver Simulator even better.
2020 has come to an end, and now it's time to conclude this year. We'll begin from the start. In January 2020, we released a big and important update for Bus Driver Simulator, which allowed you to create your own routes. Some time after such an update is released, we are wondering how we could live without that feature before. In a couple of months after that, one of the most popular city buses was released. We still were supporting Bus Driver Simulator, but, after making sure that there are no critical bugs in the game, finally transferred our forces to Bus World.
We made a lot inside our team. This organizational work is invisible for you, players, but it is very important to help us become more professional. We're still a small studio, but we're working on large games - and we have to constantly work on team management to make it possible. The main thing is that even now we can see the result of these changes.
Another important thing was the release of Bus Driver Simulator on Switch, PS4 and Xbox One. You frequently ask us whether Murom Suburbs will be released for these consoles, but we can't answer precisely as the publisher is who makes the final decision. Of course, we'll hope for the best :)
And, of course, Murom Suburbs - we managed to launch the biggest DLC for Bus Driver Simulator ever in 2020. Even though we said that there won't be a lot of changes in the game, we implemented some things about traffic and navigation from Bus World, and we hope you liked them. The work on Bus World has been slightly slowed down due to the same people working on Bus Driver Simulator and Bus World. But, in the next year, after we finish with Murom Suburbs, we'll transfer our forces to Bus World again.
Finally, we express special thanks to our players. We know that most of you are with us for several years. Your support is crucial in this business. We will do our best to make sure you enjoy our future projects - we have a lot of plans!
Our team congratulates you with coming New 2021 Year!
We've made some fixes after Murom Suburbs DLC was released.
We spent the last week releasing patches and fixes for Murom Suburbs (the base game also received some updates). These changes affected Murom map, traffic, pedestrians, passengers, RAM usage optimization and more. As always, we primarily listened to your reports by fixing most noticeable and important problems.
The list of changes to Murom Suburbs map in updates 6.1 - 6.3:
- Fixed a problem causing cars to stop when traffic light is green. - Fixed a bug causing trees to suddenly show up in the middle of the road. - Landscape adjusted in some places. - Fixed license plates on traffic cars. - Changed the way skybox is rendered when it's foggy weather. - Made some adjustments to traffic spawn system. - Improved low beam and driving beam on traffic cars. - Improved priority management in traffic system. - Reduced the number of passengers outside the city. - Re-adjusted grass density. - Fixed engine sounds. - Navigation system now calculates the route more precisely. - Adjusted power on buses with weak engines. - Parked cars are now rendered from larger distance. - Cameras now switch faster. Optimized camera scripts. - Adjusted scale of passengers' models. - Added corresponding signs to map boundaries. - Edited some decals in the garage. - Changed the way traffic reacts to the car in front of it. - Additionally optimized textures. - Optimized RAM consumption. Changes on classic maps:
- Fixed flickering buildings in Cologne - Partially implemented texture streaming - Fixed mirrors of some buses. - Changed default camera positions for some buses.
Actually, Murom Suburbs is a big set of updates and improvements, which can only be seen in this DLC, but first things first.
A large beautiful map
We recreated the huge area consisting of more than ten villages, urban part, interchanges, fields and forests, picturesque places. The size of the map impresses as it's bigger than Serpukhov and Cologne put together! In so doing, we managed to maintain better level of graphics than before by using modern tools and technologies. The graphics is an important part of any project as it helps us to get immersed into the game atmosphere.
Routes and garages
On this map, you can already try 23 different routes and get to 5 garages located in different places. If we put number of routes in Serpukhov and Cologne, we'll get exactly 23, meaning that number of routes in the game is now doubled! Of course, there are very long routes, which are popular among local people. There are more than 50 bus stops on the map.
Traffic
We implemented a whole new system of headlamps and turn signals for traffic, and position lights are now functioning. This system will only work in Murom, so you can keep both systems in one game. What's also important is that in Russian outback you'll get to see new transport, which is exclusive for this map.
Optimization
We spent a lot of time on optimizing the map, so we managed to get high FPS and decent RAM consumption on this map despite high detail level and size of the map.
Murom Suburbs is a full-size add-on, which changes the feeling of the game by transferring the emphasis from urban routes to long drives in the countryside.
Finally, one more thing: several updates for this DLC are coming soon! Murom Suburbs will get more scenarios. For example, in one of them your mission will be to deliver bags full of potatoes to a facility. You've never seen such things in a bus simulator!
We're presenting you the size of Murom Suburbs map. It will be released very soon, so it's the best time to take a look at the place where you're going to drive around. The map is large, with more than 50 stops and about 10 villages. There are also some gravel roads (we advice to wait for Bus World's release for more gravel roads - there will be plenty of them!) The urban part is very small, and countryside views are a major part of the map. Take a look at Murom in comparison with other maps:
Murom Suburbs will be more than just a DLC adding a new map. We decided to bring some features from Bus World there. The most noticeable one is new traffic system. It works a lot better, and wheels of traffic cars turn in corresponding direction (even this was simplified below), the speed is now higher (do you remember how slow the cars were in the city?), they have their position lamps on, and lights and turn signals look better.
Also, we added several cars, which you can see on these screenshots (soviet numbers are to be replaced soon). Because of technical difficulties, these changes will only affect this map; Serpukhov and Cologne will remain unchanged.
We're almost referring to Murom Suburbs as a separate game, because it feels different, and so far this is the biggest update Bus Driver Simulator has ever seen.
