I'm here to throw you a whole new start to a video series looking further into Boyfriend Dungeon! We're going to be highlighting each weapon in turn and take a look behind the scenes at what's going on in the BFD development right now.

We're back from vacation and ready to smooch some Bae Blades as we head into the new year! ⚔
Us here at Kitfox had our first big snowstorm of the year but, we're staying cozy and warm whilst working on Boyfriend Dungeon. No matter which hemisphere you're in, we hope you're staying at the maximum comfort level!




HATS! They're good!

They keep your head warm, look cute and sometimes even give you some secret benefits... (✿◡‿◡)

Secret benefits you say???

Why yes! There are all sorts of weird and wonderful things that hats can do! There is one that's your very own GPS, helping you find the Dunj exit and even one that's... said to revive you...
For those thrill-seekers out there there's even a hat that'll increase all damage dealt, by you but, also your enemies, so watch out!



Besides important fashion updates, we've been mostly chill with two weeks off during the holidays + a new year game jam to get our creative vibes flowing.

Well, that and making sure Pocket gets his fish treats, how can you say no to this face?



I can't, and I don't think Sunder can either what with them both writing into the wee hours of the morning...

For now, we're working hard 💪 and, keep this hush hush but... I've heard from my sources that next month there will be information about Scythe's abilities and animations...

Dev Updates
Actually, let me retract the ‘dive in part’, how about sitting by the fire with a cup of tea snuggled into the sofa? Yeah? Yeah. (We had a huge drop of snow last night, so this is especially inviting!)

Thank you Rowan for giving us a tour of your estate in the latest love letter, we appreciate you and your taste in decor. Hmm, I wonder who'll be chatting to us in the next Boyfriend Dungeon newsletter? No one knows for sure but you can sign up here to find out first.

Personally, I wouldn't mind Rowan returning soon!



Look at Glaive go! We’ve been working on their combos along with this immobilizing throw and return attack. I’m so happy they’ll always return to you, thanks Glaive!

I… Really hope they don’t get motion sickness? 😱



Introducing... Fiona!

Well hello there.

I’m so happy to introduce myself to y’all and, I’m excited to be bringing you all the Boyfriend Dungeon updates!

My name is Fiona and here's some things about me: tea, video games, making daft faces when I think no one is watching and petting all the cats! Which is fantastic because Pocket is going to be my best dungeon buddy!

Sword smoochers, unite!

Unfortunately Victoria has left Kitfox, but the team continues developing new and more beautiful weapons every day even so. PLUS Kitfox released Lucifer Within Us last month... if murder mysteries are your thing, maybe check it out, especially as sales and discounts are likely around the corner...



Anyhow, we'll post a fuller big update in a couple of weeks when we have a new community manager to announce, but for now, check out these lovely attacks:

Plus we picked a few Kickstarter backers to take a stab at the game (heh) in a very closed beta test and questionnaire. Hi sword smoochers!

Been awhile since a dev update, huh? Thanks to anyone who dropped by the stream yesterday! It was a ton of fun playing through the demo with everyone.

We've uploaded the Twitch stream of the game on our Youtube page, which you can watch below.




So... there are secret rooms in the dungeons - filled with treasure, mysterious creatures, and maybe some fun stuff to look at. We've been working on those, and here's a little peek at a concept we have for it.



I can't say too much about it because part of the surprise is discovering it for yourself of course. We're also polishing up the look of how the breakables and money look because... well, who doesn't want some extra cash to spend on dates with their bae blade?



There's some audio integration work going on as we add more and more voice actor lines in. :) Seven/Lasersaber will soon have some new abilities added to his arsenal too, which means he'll be even stronger to help protect you in the dungeon.

September is filled with more online game events, and we've got quite a few panels that we're doing online as part of PAX! You can see the full panel list here, in our Twitter thread.

Kitfox celebrates PAX by livestreaming the BFD demo! Watch it and ask your questions, or just hang with us for some chill chatting.

Hiya sword smoochers!

Short update this month - progress is chugging along and we're just thirsting even harder at this point.

This month was focused on the new nightclub dunj - you can see footage of what it looks like in the video below!


Each dungeon has monsters that are spawned from various fears we all have... could be anything! Loneliness? Fear of commitment? That'll be for you to discover as you get deeper and deeper. Good thing you can hold someone's hand (or hilt) as you face those fears and clear the levels.



The nightclub is getting towards nearly complete, with mini date spots, more room types and variety in the structures and challenges, and of course enemies. No spoilers though!

We've also started recording and editing some voice acting too. Super exciting stuff - you might have heard these voices around the internet but... that's an announcement for another time.

Alright alright, I've got something cool for you for this update! As seen on the Guerrilla Collective Showcase, we showed off some never-before-shown gameplay footage and developer commentary of the game.



The video features…
- An explanation of the game by our creative director, Tanya X. Short
- First full footage of dungeon crawling aspects: new monsters, combos, loot, items, and level up screen
- Character customization
- “Love Ranks” - a skill level up screen when your relationship with your blade grows strong enough!!

Oops, guess I missed out on posting the April update here, huh? Don't forget to sign up for our newsletters to get our updates right in your email inbox and written in the voice of the bae blades themselves!

But anyway, here's what we've been up to.

First, we have some nice new hairstyles for you to choose from. What's your favorite? The Discord seems to have a resounding love for the floofy style.



We've also implemented some cute item descriptions for the different clothing options we have! Here's a look at them. The most important one is the dress with pockets, clearly.



Meanwhile, a chunk of the work this month has gone into finalizing Sunder/Talwar's story arc from start-to-finish (it's spicy), upgrading his combos and animations, and adding in buffs/debuffs to the combat system!

Spring is here (sort of) and we're ready for the weather to warm up over in Canada. Speaking of things warming up... here's a short Boyfriend Dungeon update for you.

SooOoooOo this is one of those dev updates that is wrapped in so many SPOILERS, so I can't talk about much that we've been working on.



Let's just say there will be a dramatic fight, there will be multiple phases, and your weapon-of-choice will be right there by your side to support you. ;)
