Several issues were found in-game after the latest patch, here’s the list of fixes:
  • Several items couldn’t be crafted, despite the player having required
    components in their inventory - fixed.
  • Issues with displaying enemy’s health bar - fixed.
  • HUD issues when targeting certain in-game items or NPCs - fixed.
  • Issues with item highlighting (the highlighting effect remains after moving the cursor away) - fixed.
  • Issues with freezing NPCs in Oasis and trading spots - fixed.
  • In personal statistics, NPC Rank displayed incorrectly - fixed.

New patch is already here.

New features and changes

  • Starting loot was added to the bunker alpha (a weapon, meds, food and water) — we are sure this change will help new volunteers in their journey on Granichniy.

  • The way player appears on the island when he comes out of the bunker was changed.

  • New interactive elements in the bunker alpha (try the piano).


  • Deaths and respawn in the bunker will increase the paranormal activity in the bunker — the more you die the worse it gets.

  • In the main menu we have added a block with patch notes, our discord server and a button for feedback. With this form you can make bug reports (if you do it ingame, it will add your coordinates automatically), we will contact you for more information or to help you with the problem.

  • We have added player stats to the journal.

  • Interface performance optimization.

  • Optimization of locations “Pier”, “P.I.T.”, “Ray-1” and “Hospital”.

  • Tech optimization:

    > map save, compass widget;
    > electricity system elements;
    > character actions checks;
    > some computations which will improve performance on the slower computers.

    This is not the last patch in which we address different performance problems. We have a lot of things which can be improved on the tech part and leveldesign. So far our tests show that we managed to achieve certain improvement of the performance.

  • Mob health increased from 600 to 1100 health points.

  • Perks which give you more crafting parts now give 50/100% increase instead of 25/50%.

  • Players need 35% less experience to upgrade information about hunter, grutch and wanogah in monstrum.

  • Weight rebalanced for many objects, 20-50% less for most of them.

Fixes
  • Ammo received from biologist could not be used in weapons — fixed.

  • Curing a debuff on the status screen left a blank debuff — fixed.

  • On the status screen the UI showed items which could not cure the debuff — fixed.

Next update will be at the end of may.

Greetings, Volunteers!

We have some awesome news to share. Here you can see the new development roadmap. What’s most important — we’re ready to announce that DESOLATE will get a full Steam release this Fall. We’ll share the exact launch date in the future. Next, there are some things we’re working on right now:

1. Overall optimizations and improvements. We plan to make the game run better, especially on low and middle-end PCs, and for now it’s our highest priority.

2. Fast Travel — you’ll get an access to a new fast travelling system soon.

3. We’re working on new quests that will immerse you in gritty and unnerving stories. You can make a guess by their names. In ‘Butcher’, you will fight a new mythical threat. ‘The Church’ will clash you with a crazy religious fanatic. And ‘The Maniac’ will drag you into a grim detective-like tale.

4. Faction Wars — it’s a new huge side activity that will bring new mechanics and rewards. The name is subject to change.

5. Full release is planned for Fall 2018 with the exact date still TBA. It will introduce a complete main story, which will add more hours of gameplay and new activities.

New patch is already here.

New features and changes
  • New Light soldiers receive reinforcements — NL Incinerator.

  • Among marauders you can meet a demolition man — be careful with him and don’t let him get close.

  • Dorg:

    — QTE animation and interaction are updated (we know about the problem with the sound playback during QTE-animation, and we are working to fix the issue);
    — chance and debuff period are lowered for the QTE.

  • Oasis NPCs received new animations.

  • Throwing weapons had their damage increased: grenades by 40%; kunai by 50%; molotovs by 25% ( the damage frequency is increased by 40% and damage zone lifetime decreased by 50%).

  • Chance to be set on fire is lowered by 30% and its damage is decreased by 25%.

  • You can encounter small scale events where opposing factions fight each other in different locations.

  • Added inverse kinematics to all AIs (their legs should adapt to the landscape).

  • Added new ambient music to the “Hospital”.

  • 24 new tracks for the NPC with a guitar on the territory of the “Oasis”.

Fixes
  • Localization fixes and translation of some of the missed words.

  • If the key binding for the UV-flashlight was changed the hint did not take it into account — fixed.

  • Level design:

    — fixed several terrain problems;
    — fixed several floating in the air objects;
    — fixed places where player could get stuck;
    — optimization of several locations.

  • Broken tools were not correctly displayed on the crafting screen — fixed.

  • In the crafting menu when you press the button “Craft” modification slot is reset — fixed.

  • Sound:

    — if the player had a gun in his hands, there was no sound when the player was set on fire — fixed;
    — several small fixes of the sounds.

Volunteers, this is the last update listed on the roadmap posted earlier. Very soon we will post the next development plan for DESOLATE.

It's been almost two months since DESOLATE has entered Early Access. We've released 11 updates and hot fixes, solved initial problems and came up with a plan of expanding the game.

All of this would be impossible without your support, feedback and time that you've spent on Granichny island.

We have released a new patch.

New features and updates
  • Wanogah: added two new attacks(gas cloud and toxic bombs); wanogah can get on the walls and attack from a distance, you can make it go down with ranged weapons or stones..
  • Dorg: they have a chance to start biting your leg(QTE event). We would like to point out that current version does not have final animations and will be improved later. Extra animations need more testing and some changes to be used in multiplayer, they will be added in the future patches.
  • Saves: we have turned on the Steam Cloud saves.
  • Optimizations:
    — partial optimization of assets on many locations;
    — improved optimization of the following locations: Oasis safezone, Ray-1, Hospital, Radar Station “Dome”, Southern Bay Piers.

Fixes
  • Meds, food, water, etc add a percentage of the parameter without any regard to the perks which increased them — fixed.
  • Numerous localization fixes.

When will optimization be improved?

We are constantly working on optimizations. At the same time we have started analyzing all the aspects of the game to find the most performance heavy items to improve the situation.

When will you add new quests?

We are working according to the roadmap we have posted earlier. The roadmap describes all the patches planned until the end of April.

Soon we will post the next roadmap, where we will describe the following changes and periods of the development. It will contain information about main quest and side quests. We will start working according to that roadmap after the last patch described in the previous one.

When will you add more space to the personal stash or make team stashes?

We have described the problem we encountered with the infinite stashes. Many people experienced problems with performance and multiplayer connection due to too many items in the stash. This problem was not solved yet. It will be added to the next roadmap and we will make it a separate task to leave extra time for the programmers..

The same can be said about the team stash and possibility of adding it into the game.

New patch is live. Grutch AI update, new combat animations and several other changes we will describe lower in the text.

New features and changes
  • We have updated grutch — it has new attack types and debuffs during the fight, be careful dealing with them.
  • There are new attack animations for player character — we have added new strike animations when you move to the sides..
  • Safe zone “Oasis” was updated.
  • You can trade with all NPCs in the safezone “Oasis”. But they have less goods for sale compared to the trader. Don’t forget about Uncle Misha.
  • The models for ice modifications were changed. List of modifications: “Frio”, “Frio 2.0”, “Freezer”.
  • The location “Southern Bay Pier” was updated — new lootable objects, changes to the environment, the monolith and crafting bench were moved to the cinema; if you die on the territory of this location you will teleport to the fire there from the bunker.
  • The blueprints for modifications “Shoker” and “Radiator” can be found on the map.
  • All tasks in the journal have categories now.
  • If you have already learned a blueprint you will see that when you choose it in the inventory. If you already know the blueprint you can’t learn it again.
  • Rebalanced shotgun ammo recipe — it requires gunpowder and 100 scrap now.
  • The posters in your collection have subtitles when you look at them now.
  • Paranormal activities happening in different locations will be more scary. And we are not talking about stress meter of the character.
  • We have added a hyperlink to our steam forums into the main menu and to the ingame menu. If you have any problems or suggestions please post there everything, it will help us too.

We would like to point out that with each patch enemies are getting stronger. Remember that you can always tune the difficulty using custom options.

We’ve cooked up a hotfix, which addresses some of the problems that were encountered in the previous patch. The full list below:

  • Aggressive enemy with a flammable weapon could ignite the player with a kick - fixed
  • Player wasn’t able to craft bullets - fixed
  • Some merchants throughout Oasis were not interactable - fixed
  • Merchants throughout Oasis sold some items for 0 Scrap that you could disassemble for Scrap - fixed, these items now have a price
  • Throwing Weapons (Grenades, Molotov Cocktails, Knives) did not appear in “Weapon” section of Backpack and Crafting Menu - fixed
  • You could gain EXP by hitting a dead enemy with a Throwing Weapon - fixed
  • A Player couldn’t open Inventory while on fire - fixed
