And if you want even more My Time content, you'll be able to jump into the sequel to Portia, My Time at Sandrock, later this month! Sandrock's Early Access launch time has been unveiled!
In anticipation of the super exciting upcoming Early Access release on May 26, another Closed Beta update is coming soon! Let's check out what’s new for you.
Coming first: Multiplayer mode!
The highly anticipated multiplayer mode will open its first Alpha test to Kickstarter Beta players who pledged Multiplayer Early Access Pack and above. The multiplayer storyline is different from the current events of the single player storyline. You can view it as an alternative compressed timeline that chronicles what happens before the player arrives in Sandrock in single player. You’ll meet some familiar friends in their younger years as well as new locals.
For now, the multiplayer mode still has a long way to go. We’ll test with closed beta players for a while and slowly open the test to Early Access players later this year.
This multiplayer mode is still in the early development phase, and 4 players will be randomly matched together. All accounts and progress will probably be deleted later. But we’ll keep adding more features and fixing issues, so please tell us any problems you meet or suggestions you have, as well as simply come and chat, all in our Discord.
Singleplayer updates
New NPCs
New friends arrive in Sandrock! You’ll find out who they are and the fun stories behind them later!
More advanced workshop customization
You can now customize your roof, decorate your workshop with lights or other items you like, and set new windows and doors. We can’t wait to see how you will jazz up your workshop!
New monsters
New monsters have been spotted roaming in the wild, so be well-equipped while you explore the open world… some of them are hunting for Builders~!
New mini-game
The ever-prospecting Catori’s just nabbed a new machine, Space Pilferers, for Builders looking to spend their leisure time in her game center.
Customize button assignments for controllers
Sandrock will support controllers in Early Access! We're working on the customization of button assignments; we’ll test them with Beta players first and optimize them later, so if you have any feedback about the controller and button reassignment experience, please tell us in our Discord or via qa@pathea.net!
And there will be more, we’ll have a detailed changelist later on, so keep eye on us for more updates! Don’t forget to wishlist Sandrock on Steam Games now!
All these single-player content and more will be improved later in the content of the May 26 launch!
P.S.
If you want to experience the game a bit before the official launch, catch us at the PAX East convention on April 21-24. Our publishing partner, PM Studio, will present Sandrock to you, and computer stations will be set up for you to play Sandrock in the venue. Sandrock at the booth #19079! We’re very pleased to announce that the second My Time game, My Time At Sandrock, will release in Early Access on PC on May 26th, 2022!
My Time at Sandrock will release into Early Access on Steam and Epic Games at $24.99, and will increase in price after Early Access ends, when Sandrock officially releases. Beta Access and Early Access players keep their game keys for good and will not need to purchase the game again upon full release. The game will continuously update on the day of release – you don’t need to do anything else.
During Early Access, we’ll be implementing story quests for the NPCs, finishing the main questline, fleshing out the world, and generally polishing the game. We’ll also be improving art assets, adding more music and voiceovers, and perhaps most importantly: testing the multiplayer mode. We’ll incorporate your feedback and suggestions to further polish the game.
Any players interested in Sandrock, you can talk with our Beta players and learn some tips, watch their live streaming, and check their arts and screenshots too! all in our Discord!
Let’s go wild, share it wild, And fill MyTime world for more residents!
The delay for the Early Access release of My Time at Sandrock has been tough for everyone at Pathea. ːsteamfacepalmːːsteamfacepalmːːsteamfacepalmːMost affected has been the marketing and executive branches. The dev team is working day in and day out to polish the game, we hear there might be some important news about it next week. Meanwhile, we’ve resorted to chucking waffles at the ceiling to see whose sticks the longest in order to pass the time.
It was during one of these waffle sticking competitions that we came up with an idea. An idea so brilliant, it would solve all our problems in one fell swoop! We looked around the office and realized... we have producers, directors, writers, effects, one guy with a nice camera... basically all the makings for a movie studio! ːsteamhappyː
The only thing we were missing was actors, an issue we quickly solved by making all of our brand and IP managers (whose jobs are now idle) into our actors! They all took to the job change like fish out of water: we quickly discovered that our VP of Marketing, Aaron, could cry on command! Yes, as soon as we made this announcement to the team, he immediately burst into tears. It was quite the performance!
With that settled, we reached out to our Board of Directors for funding, they laughed and promised us one trillion Gols if we can produce a teaser that can get a retweet by Elon Musk. So, we did (produce a teaser, the Musk tweet is still up in the airːsteamboredː).
Below is the teaser for our first film, Pathea: Survive. A super serious film about serious stuff that we’re definitely doing, seriously.
Happy Lunar New Year! May this new year bring you much joy, fun, and fortune. May you find peace, love, and success. Sending our heartiest new year wish to you!
In this article, we'd like to talk about multiplayer mode in Portia's sequel, My Time at Sandrock, which is still in the early stages of development, but we have a lot of exciting ideas and have implemented some of them already.
This is an exciting feature in the multiplayer competition, called ‘death kill win everything’, where the player who made the final blow to a harvestable resource gets the materials.
However, we encourage cooperation more than pure competition because joint effort is the best way to develop the desert, so we’ll have a lot of ways to promote cooperation.
In multiplayer mode, players can assemble different machines in their workshops and set them open to their friends, which can help each other with optimal resource allocation. And in the future, we have plans to set up a shared area somewhere in the city, where players can rent their spare machines to other builders and win some commission.
Of course, there's more to collaboration, like having a big shared goal to build something that starts up new events; going on adventures together and helping injured teammates, expressions and body language interactions, and more.
If you have any comments or suggestions about the multiplayer mode, please join us in our Discord or leave a comment below.

My Time at Portia is the first My Time game, the story happens in a whimsical city by the sea, it is a mostly farming based city. It is trying to become the central hub for the Free Cities.
The Alliance of Free Cities started to take form about 80 years ago (Year 18), after settlers from what is current day Ethea moved south and settled around the area. At that time, ruin divers from Ethea were looking for more ruins to operate, opening up new mines everywhere across what would later be known as the Free Cities landscape. The pioneer groups were all acting independently and were unorganized; many were lost to disease, monsters, and starvation in these early days.
They discovered that the weather was much more stable in these parts; there were already forests, animals, and many sources of clean water. Word spread to their compatriots back home, triggering a large migration from Ethea and even some from Barnarock. Many towns formed, eventually growing into the modern Free Cities.
The alliance was formalized hastily 67 years ago (Peach Calendar Year 31), when the Duvos Empire first set its sights on the Free Cities’ resources. Employing its superior weapons technology, the Duvos forces destroyed the city-state of Baja overnight. Formerly loose allies, Ethea and Barnarock rushed to help defend the border, and together their armies pushed back the invading forces at the city-state of Lucien, but only after losing three city-states during this two-year war (Baja, Arcadia, Mobius). The Alliance of the Free Cities Treaty was then officially signed after the war in Year 34 with the capital seat in Atara. Ever since, the Alliance has been a coalition based on equal member rights and mutual defense, as well as an economic bloc.
The Alliance fought another war with the Duvos Empire in Year 76. Due to new advancements in technology from Vega 5, the Alliance fought Duvos to a draw in this engagement. Relations between the Alliance and the Empire have since been contentious with random skirmishes on the border breaking out until a year ago when the two signed a peace treaty.
The city-state of Doss was destroyed by an enormous creature from the Peripheries 30 years ago (Year 68).
There are currently 8 city-states in the Alliance.
Atara–The seat of the capital of the Alliance, also the most populous and economically advanced city-state in the Free Cities, Atara is known for its education institutions and wealth.
Lucien–The industrial city-state bordering the Duvos Empire, it is the focal point of the Alliance’s defenses. Lucien is located on top of several large industrial ruins, giving it access to large engines and other parts needed to power military equipment and vehicles. The famed Flying Pigs adventurer guild is also located there.
Highwind –A city-state known for its botany research and monsoon winds. Most of the power in Highwind is thusly generated through wind power instead of power stones. This city is known for the use of gliders as well. There are actually two centers in this city, Highwind West, which is a little inland, and Highwind East, which is by the sea.
Portia –A whimsical city by the sea, it is a mostly farming based city. It is trying to become the central hub for the Free Cities.
Sandrock -Located on top of several large ruins, this city-state is located in the Eufaula Desert. It gets most of its water from Portia and Atara. Sandrock has the lowest population of all the Free Cities.
Vega 5 –A city-state built on a crashed space cruiser, it is the center for research in the Free Cities. Many relics are brought to Vega 5 for testing and refurbishing. People often say that the Vegans live in their own research-heavy cultural bubble, not caring too much about what the outside world thinks of them.
Walnut Groove – A very cultured city-state, a gathering place for artisans and craftsmen. This city is a center for the arts, it is famous for its musicals and plays. This city is also known for its carefree lifestyle and fine cuisine.
Tallsky – Built on top of a large orbital insertion accelerator from the Age of Corruption. This city-state has several large ruins in its territory, supplying the Free Cities with engines for planes and ships as well as weapons from the past. It is also sometimes called the City of Builders due to a large amount of Builders there.
Happy holidays to all! Wishing you all the happiness in the world every day! We hope all your wishes come true as we enter the new year!
Our wish is… to get the certification that we've been waiting for to release Sandrock! Hahaha! We hope that it’ll happen very soon. In the meantime, we have some new content to share with you!
More Side Quests With new quests added, we‘re getting to learn more about Sandrock residents. Making friends and hanging out with them makes for a fun, memorable time in Sandrock!
Ernest Makes His Appearance Let’s welcome the first of the two 400K wishlist goal NPCs arriving in Sandrock: Ernest, who is an author from Atara and intrigued by Logan’s tale! What tales of his own will he spin?
More Recipes Now, fresh new Sandrock dishes are waiting for you to discover! You can cook up combinations of raw ingredients to figure recipes out yourself or learn them from the locals. Just ask others about their recipes to build camaraderie and perhaps learn a new dish that can be enjoyed for its benefits or presented as a lovely gift to another Sandrocker!
New Powerful Machines Like in Portia, Fire-Powered Generators can provide power to other machines! They’re a secret weapon for Builders to manage their machines efficiently and can boost workshop productivity. And the new Sorting Machine will help you get precious stones/minerals from common rocks.
Breakable Chests A pro Builder should always try to make use of the materials around them. Of course treasures are hidden in chests, but don’t forget, chests themselves are useful things! Now you can break them down to use as resources!
And there are more things that are optimized or added, such as the tweaked quicksave function and the new hairstyles, outfits, bunny hutch, etc. The full list of changes will be available in the changelist soon.
As always, thanks for your support! Whatever you celebrate, may your holidays be happy and safe~
