Hello my fellow Portians.

This is the second patch for the 8.0 update.

There are two things you need to pay attention.

First, if you ever encountered the same issue, here is what you can do. To those of you who play the game in one PC, for security, you can go to the load interface in the game, choose the save file you want to backup, and click the backup button. So whether the file has been saved in the cloud or not, it will stay in your computer. To those of you who play the game on different PCs, for security, you can manually copy and paste the save file. The path of these save file is C:\Users\YourUserName\AppData\LocalLow\Pathea Games\My Time at Portia

Secondly, if you start running the game, and suddenly the game disappears, with the desktop shows the game running and music playing. To solve this issue, you'll need to change the setting of the graphics card. Click here for more instructions. https://steamcommunity.com/app/666140/discussions/0/3211505894119734351/

This month, we’ve been working on optimising the game. We have improved the frame rate, and the game now runs much smoother than before. We will continue to work on optimisation in the next few updates, to ensure that you get the best My Time At Portia experience.

In addition to game optimisation, this update also contains the content we announced in our previous news posts. You can read more on those here:

Development Update
Update on the way: A new location, a new pet, new story and more!
New content on the way: Casual life in Portia

Let’s take a look at what other content is in this update!

New building project: Factory
We’ve been listening to your feedback about crafting items in your yard, and we have a pretty big feature to add in this update! Once you’ve completed the harbor mission, you’ll be able to visit A&G Construction and build a factory in your yard!

The factory will allow you to automate production. To craft something, you’ll simply need to prepare the machine and the raw materials it needs, click ‘start’, and wait! You’ll be able to automate each stage of the production process, from raw materials to semi-manufactured products, and from semi-manufactured products to final products! This factory is a huge new feature and will save lots of crafting time!

New location: The Haunted Cave
Remember that mission on Amber Island? Mayor Gale said that construction could take place so that Portians could have somewhere fun to go. The Mayor is keeping his promise! Once you’ve defeated the Rat Prince, you’ll be able to go back to this island and help the Mayor turn the cave into a themed attraction!

New calendar event: The Day of Memories
The Day of Memories is the third holiday to be added to the calendar in My Time At Portia – after the Day of the Bright Sun and Winter Solstice. This holiday will take place on Summer 27th of each year. There will be an activity on this day, and you’ll get to compete against NPCs for a reward!

The difference with this event activity, is that it takes place at night! The activity will start at 9pm, and participants will need to find ghost badges that are scattered throughout Portia town. You’ll have a limited amount of time to find as many badges as you can. When the time is up, the person with the most badges, wins! You’ll be able to trade these badges in for Day of Memories items at the Badge Exchange inside the Commerce Guild.

New wearables: Accessories
We’ve had accessories such as necklaces, sunglasses and earrings in the game for a while now, and these have added to different character stats but are invisible when your character is wearing them. We know you want to be able to see these accessories when your character is wearing them, so we’re making them visible in this update. So, if style is your thing, you’ll now be able to match your accessories to your outfit!

Item Upgrade: Wooden Storage Box
We’ve received lots of feedback about the difficulty of managing the items you have because they are being kept in multiple wooden storage boxes. This update will make managing your stored items a lot easier. Now, when you open one storage box, you will be able to manage the items in ALL of your storage boxes! We’ve also added the ability to sort your items at the click of a button! So for example: if you put wood into box A, and then some wood into box B, all wood will automatically be sorted into box A.

We really hope you all enjoy the new content we have added into My Time At Portia. Please keep posting your feedback, and reporting any bugs or issues you encounter, in the Steam forums.

Want to know what else is in this content update? Check out the changelist below!

Please note:
After this update, the trees you have cut down will regenerate, and some furniture may be removed from your house and delivered to your mailbox for placement again. Your skill points will also be reset, and will need reassigning.

You may also find that the loading time when leaving your house is quite long. We’re aware of this issue and are working on a patch to optimise this loading time.

We'd like to say thank you to all players who participated in the open test, your feedback is greatly appreciated. Your save data from v 7.0 will carry over to this version (v 8.0) just fine, but when switching to the main branch, please be aware that you will lose all food recipes (we have executed the programmer who is responsible*)

My Time at Portia - Lauren_Team17
We’ve been working hard on optimising the game and creating new stories and missions for the next update to My Time At Portia, and today we’d like to share some more new features we’re going to be adding in too!

Fishing Competition
We wanted to add more mini-games that lots of NPCs can get involved in, so we’ve designed a fishing competition. This competition will take place once a year, just like other holidays in My Time At Portia - for now, this will be a Saturday or Sunday in Spring.

Before the competition, Mayor Gale will give a speech and announce the rules of the fishing competition. The rules are very simple. There are eight fishing spots in Portia, and players can participate at any of these spots. The competition will last for four in-game hours and you can participate multiples times! Scores will vary between different types of fish, and the total scores will be calculated at the end of the competition. The top three participants will get a reward – the fisherman badge, and players can exchange this for outfits and decorations at the badge exchange inside the Commerce Guild.

Be warned: some NPCs are excellent at fishing, so competition will be tough!

Horse Racing Competition
In addition to the fishing competition, we’re also adding in a horse racing competition! This will be an annual event, taking place on a Saturday or Sunday in Autumn. Players will need to finish the race within a time limit, and the fastest time wins!

There will be obstacles and surprises in this race. For example, wooden boxes on the race course can stall your racing speed. If you hit any of these boxes, the boxes will smash and be cleared out of the way, but you’ll need to get your speed back up from zero again! You’ll also be able to pick up chilli peppers which will add to your endurance time, and you’ll encounter blue balloons that will have a random positive or negative effect on your race time too! We’ll be adding more effects to the blue balloon in a future update.

For now, the horse racing competition is a single player race, but we’ll let more NPCs get involved in a future update (and some of them might be really good at horse racing!)

Just like the fishing competition, you’ll get badges for winning, and you’ll be able to exchange them for some exclusive outfits.

We’re planning to release this content update later this month, and you can stay up to date with the latest news on our social channels:

Throughout Early Access, our aim has been to release new content regularly and our development team are working hard on the next update. We are aiming to release new content by the end of this month – and we will let you know a date ASAP!

Here’s a quick look at what’s coming to My Time At Portia very soon…

Starlight Island
In the next update, we’ll continue the story and introduce you to a brand new location – Starlight Island! We don’t want to give too much away about this new location, as you’ll be able to discover it for yourself, but here’s a sneak peek at some concept art for Starlight Island.

A new pet
We know that lots of players want to be able to keep another pet, so in this update we’ll be adding an adorable dog! Just like other characters, the dog will have its own unique storyline and missions. If you complete them all, you’ll be able to keep the dog as a pet!

We’re also adding in some new items that your dog can play with!

Riding Llamas
In the last update, we added the ability to catch, tame and ride the Colourful Llamas. You could also ride the Cotton Llamas, but we hadn’t finished this feature completely. So, in this update, you’ll be able to tame the Cotton Llamas too! Whilst they might be more challenging to tame, these particular llamas have maximum attributes.

A new holiday
We’ll also be adding a new holiday to My Time At Portia. We don’t want to spoil anything, so we’ll let you experience this one for yourselves!

And in case you missed it - we’ve been working on optimising the game to run more smoothly too. You can read our previous news post for more information on this.

That’s all for now!

My Time at Portia - Lauren_Team17
This month, our most important mission as developers is to optimise the performance of My Time At Portia. Our full development team, from programmers to artists, are all working on this with the aim of making My Time At Portia run faster and more stable on PC, as well as getting the game ready for console launch.

Whilst in the next update we may not add too many new features, we are happy to confirm that we've been working our way towards completing the story! The next update will have new story content and we’ll also be introducing some new side quests in the coming months. Mint, Arlo and Dr Xu will all have their own portion of story content in this update.

We know a lot of you are big fans of Mint, so we hope you will be excited to play more of his story! Fun fact: our producer designed this character with inspiration from her first love – Rukawa Kaede (a comic character)

Arlo is also another community favourite, and many of you want to know what the relationship is between him and Nora. Why do they meet near the church in the middle of the night? You’ll find out very soon!

And let’s not forget Dr Xu - we can’t wait for you to play his story quests too!
Other than the story content and game optimisation, we’re also going to be working on adjusting the magnifying glass in the inspection game. This should really help you earn those rewards!
We’ll have more information on the next update very soon! Stay tuned to our social channels for updates:
