The next update for My Time At Portia is here! We’ve upgraded Unity, and recruited some talented writers to help us shape the stories of Portia. In this update, you’ll get to experience more stories and quests, as well other new content including: a level 3 assembly station upgrade, Steam achievement system, and a brand new mount – the colourful llama.
More stories
We recruited eight talented writers to help us, so a lot of new story missions have been added in this update, including some new NPC stories. With more and more stories and conversations being added to the game, the world of Portia has become more abundant, thanks to you guys! We’ve loved hearing player feedback since we first launched the game into Early Access, and we’ll continue to work on more content and optimisations.
Now, a small story sneak peek – in this update, you’ll meet a brand new character! He’s the richest person in the Portia world, and you’ll get to meet him when he visits the town. We don’t want to spoil anything for you, so we’ll let you jump into the game and meet him yourself!
Fishing optimisation
We asked you for feedback on the current fishing system in My Time At Portia, and some of you said you found it boring, tough to operate, and not very rewarding. We’ve made some improvements to this in this update. For example, we’ve expanded the range of where the fish will take bait, and added more sound effects. Most importantly though, we’ve increased the rewards! So go get fishing and earn big money!
Smart mining – Ingall’s Mine
We’ve added a handy new feature in this update! You’ll be able to receive mining resources to your supply box everyday from Ingall’s Mine - once you’ve completed the related mission of course! This should be great news for those of you who want to spend less time mining!
New workshop features
Level 3 assembly station This update includes the level 3 assembly station which includes a pretty cool feature – it can automatically assemble machines. So that means you won’t have to assemble machines piece by piece - you’ll just need the raw materials instead.
Level 4 house Aside from the upgrade for your assembly station, we’ve also added the level 4 upgrade for your house. Not only will this give you a bigger room inside, but you’ll also get a second floor, and a more luxurious appearance!
Storage boxes We’ve listened to your feedback regarding storage boxes, and how having multiple boxes is inconvenient when trying to locate raw materials to build with. In this update, crafting machines will automatically find the raw materials from your inventory and storage boxes. We’ve also added a ‘helpers chest’. You’ll be able to craft this new type of storage box so that the helpers in your house (your spouse and Ack) will only use fuel or materials in this chest. And finally, we’ve made some changes to the wood resource storage box. The products that your helpers collect will be placed into this chest. So you will no longer have to ask for them!
Photo frame
Want to make your house more like home? You can now hang your favourite pictures on the wall in your home. So get out there, take some pictures, and add your own personal touch to your home!
Dye the furniture
Time for some customisation fun! Dug up a sofa in the Abandoned Ruins? Not a fan of pink? Doesn’t match your décor? No problem! In this update, you’ll be able to change the colour of the piece of furniture to suit you! How neutral or bright do you want your colour scheme to be?
Language Input Issue
Some players had reported that changing the language input had caused their game to freeze. Thanks to the Unity upgrade, we’ve been able to resolve this and you should not experience this problem after this update.
We’ve added a bunch of other features to make your experience in My Time At Portia more enjoyable, so check out the below changelist for this update.

We’re excited to share with you a first look at what you can expect to see in the next update for My Time At Portia. We’ve just upgraded Unity, which will help us with optimisation and compatibility, and make the port to consoles much easier. Aside from that, we’ve been working on some new game features that will be coming very soon. Here’s a sneak peek…
Achievements
As we’ve now progressed on from the early stages of development, we will be adding achievements to the game. This won’t be the full and final list, as we will be adding more in later updates. So, if you have any thoughts or ideas on what you’d like to see, please leave us a comment below, and maybe you’ll even see one of your ideas go into the game!
Rename your workshop
We’ve had lots of feedback from players who want to be able to change the name of their workshop. We’re adding that feature in with this update! Head to the mayor’s office to complete a form and pay a service fee to change your workshop name – it’s a very official process!
Catch a new ride
We had lots of you suggesting that you’d like to be able to catch a wild animal to ride. We were inundated with requests for the colourful llama to be your trusty steed, so we’re adding this one in first!
If you want to hunt a colourful llama, you’ll need a trap cage to catch them with, as well as a specific type of food to increase the favour points. When ready, a button command will appear on screen that will indicate that you can tame it. After completing a series of quick time commands you’ll be able to make the llama your new mount.
Of course, as a mount, the attributes and loyalty of the colourful llama can be improved just like your horse and you can train the llama in the stable.
Annual workshop competition
So, are you a good builder? In this update, we’ll be adding a ranking system at the end of every year. On the last day of the year, we’ll announce who the winning builder is in Portia, according to your workshop scores. At the start of the next year, there will be an award ceremony hosted in Peach Plaza. You can choose whether you’d like to participate in this competition or not, but if you choose to give up, you will not receive a prize.
New weapon - gun
You’ll now be able to have a ranged weapon in My Time At Portia! At the moment, you can only use melee weapons (sword, hammer or boxing gloves). With this update, you’ll be able to get your hands on a new ranged weapon – a shotgun.
If you want to build a shotgun, you’ll need to collect the appropriate materials first. So, do you think this weapon will be powerful? We’ll let you find that out for yourselves! But we can tell you that the shotgun has an embedded laser device. Sounds cool, right?
We’ll also be adding harbour missions, the level 3 assembly station, and we’ll be optimising the riding system. Follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and stay tuned for more info!
Adjusted the restore effects of fruit salad. Added part of the German & French translation. Adjusted Sanwa's wishlist. Removed one item out of it. Fixed the crash when playing the dart. Fixed the crash when fighting with monsters. Fixed the bug that cannot fight with the minions next to rat princess. Fixed the display error of glass material. Adjusted the text in Phyllis proposal mission. Fixed the bug that the Winter Doll will not show in the list of Recovery Machine.
The newest content update for My Time At Portia is now officially live!
If you have been playing on the 'open_test' branch, you will need to switch back to the default branch in order to update your game. However, don't worry about your save file, this will continue to work once you've switched back.
If you're unsure on how to switch between branches, we have the info for you right here.
If you haven't played on the 'open_test' branch, you won't need to do anything as your game will update as normal.
We recently showed you the new camera feature for My Time At Portia, and we’re very excited to share with you what else is included in this update…
More stories and missions
In this update, we’re adding more story content relating to the bus station, the desert, news camera, and Pa’s debt. We have also added more story and side quests about Phyllis, Ginger, Gust, Paulie, Albert and Emily – but you’ll have to play the game to unravel those stories!
Upgraded riding system
We added the horse renting and riding feature in the last update. We’ve expanded on this so that you will now be able to buy your own horse and train it. We’ve also added other interaction options, and the ability to sprint and jump.
In addition to this, the horses in this update will have different attributes, which can all be improved by training, feeding and petting them. Once you’ve purchased a horse from MacDonald, you’ll need to train them to increase their attributes. While training, you’ll also need to be aware of the loyalty of your horse. Low loyalty will make the horse disobedient. For example, when you dismount and want your horse to follow or stay, a horse with low loyalty will probably go back home. Or, when you are riding and you want the horse to turn left, a horse with low loyalty may turn right, or stop walking altogether! Feed and pet your horse to increase the loyalty number.
Please note: the animation of the horse being disobedient, and the petting will be added in a later update.
Moving and repositioning chests
We’ve had a lot of feedback from the community regarding the ability to move storage boxes by holding them. We’ve added this ability in this update – so you’ll be able to pick up and reposition your storage box without needing to use your axe first!
The most romantic mini game!
Do you remember our first trailer? In the last scene, you and Emily were riding in a hot air balloon, flying across Portia town – so romantic! In this update, you can access the hot air balloon in a new mini-game. Ride with your friends, lovers, or even by yourself. We’ve included 5 routes for you to take and look at the world of My Time At Portia from a different angle.
New hazardous dungeon and abandoned ruins
A new hazardous dungeon named ‘Ingalls Apostrophe’ has been added into the game. Here, you will encounter new monsters. We’ve also added a new abandoned ruins. In this dungeon, you can mine new materials like aluminium and magnesium, and you’ll have a chance to find new relics too!
New mining tool
While we’re on the subject of mining, we have to mention an awesome new mining tool added in this update – the drill. This tool will mine faster than a pickaxe, and can mine more materials too. Everyone loves an upgrade, right?
#MyPortiaArt contest winners
Finally, we’d like to congratulate the winners of our #MyPortiaArt contest again! We picked two winners who created amazing pieces of art, and have added their artwork into the game in this update.
So that’s everything for this update, we hope you enjoy all the new features we’ve added – seeing you all enjoy your experience in My Time At Portia is what we love the most!

We know that you’ve been waiting for the next content update, and we’ve been working really hard to get everything ready for release. We were aiming to get this out by the end of the month, but we want to make sure that all our planned content works fine in this build, so we decided to release the official update a little bit late. But we offered a way called open test that you guys can experience the new content before the official update.
If you want to know how to do that, please go to the discussion board, and find the thread named Open Test Branch, you’ll find the details of how to switch the branch.
If you don’t have time to get to know the new Portia by yourself, then you can check the content that we wrote in this article and get more details of what we’ve been adding in this update. For example, there are more stories and missions – that’s what you guys expect most , new features in riding system, moving items by directly holding them, the most romantic mini game – ride hot air balloon, new hazardous dungeon and abandoned ruin, new monsters, new mining tool, and etc. Let us introduce new main features one by one for you. By finish reading this post, you’ll know what you’re expecting.
More Stories And Missions
I believe stories and missions are the part that you guys, at least most of you guys expect most. Well then, in this update, you can expect more new stories that related to the bus stations in the South Block, wind from desert, News camera, and Dada’s debt. Besides, you’re also gonna see more stories and side quests about Phyllis, Ginger, Gust, Paulie, Albert, and Emily.
Upgraded Riding System
In the 5.0 version of Portia, you can ride horse already. But the horse can only be rented, and the horse can only walk but not dash or jump. It feels like the riding system has been castrated. So, in this update, you can buy the horse, train your horse, and have more interactive options with them. In addition, the horse in this update have different attributes, which can be improved by training, feeding, or petting them. The whole procedure is that once you buy the horse from the McDonalds’, you can train your horse till all their attributes reach the max. While you train your horses, you’ll also need to be aware of their loyalty of your horses, cause the low loyalty will make the horse disobedient. For example, when you dismount or you want your horse follow or stay, the horse with low loyalty probably will go back home. Or when you’re riding the horse, and you want them turn left, the horse with low loyalty might turn right or stop walking instead. Feed and pet your horse can increase the loyalty number (but the animation of horse being disobedient and the petting will not be added into this version).
Moving & Repositioning Items
Well, moving items by directly holding them, we believe, is also the feature that you guys want most. In the 5.0, if you want to move the item and re-position it, you’ll need to use the axe to recycle the item first and re-position it. But now, you can just press F to hold it directly and move it to anywhere you want it to be. Plain and simple.
The Most Romantic Mini-game
Do you remember our first trailer? In the last scene, you an Emily were taking the hot air balloon, flying in the sky across the Portia town. How romantic it is. Well, you don’t have to be jealous about it. In this update, you can take the hot air balloon mini-game with your friends, your lovers, or even by yourself. We provide 5 routes for you to take a look at the Portia world in different angle.
New Hazardous Dungeon And New Abandoned Ruin
A new hazardous dungeon named Ingalls Apostrophe has been added into the game, where you can meet new monsters. Besides, a new abandoned ruin has also been added into the game. In this dungeon, you can dig out new types of mine like aluminum and magnesium, and you’ll have chance to find out new relics too.
New Mining Tool
Speaking of mining, there’s one new awesome mining tool in this update that we want to mention is drill. This is a tool that has a faster speed and can dig out much more materials than pickaxe in the same time. What a cool tool!
Award-Wining Fan Art in Game
In the last, we want to cognate again to the winners of our Fan Art competition. We have picked out two great works from tons of marvelous submissions. And as we promised, we’ve added them into the game (we did some minor changes of course to make the picture fit in).
So that’s it - the summary of the new features in this update. We really want you guys can have a great fantastic game experience in Portia. So, we’ll try to add as many fun features as possible, just to make sure you don’t feel boring in Portia. Hope you really enjoy the game.
We’ve had a lot of feedback from people all over the world who would like to play My Time At Portia in their native language.
We’re very pleased to announce that My Time At Portia now supports two additional languages! The latest update adds French and German translation to the game.
We’ll be working on support for more languages ready to be implemented on the full release of My Time At Portia.

There’s still lots more content to come, and the next update will be released very soon – stay tuned for more info.
