The newest content update for My Time At Portia is now officially live!
If you have been playing on the 'open_test' branch, you will need to switch back to the default branch in order to update your game. However, don't worry about your save file, this will continue to work once you've switched back.
If you're unsure on how to switch between branches, we have the info for you right here.
If you haven't played on the 'open_test' branch, you won't need to do anything as your game will update as normal.
We recently showed you the new camera feature for My Time At Portia, and we’re very excited to share with you what else is included in this update…
More stories and missions
In this update, we’re adding more story content relating to the bus station, the desert, news camera, and Pa’s debt. We have also added more story and side quests about Phyllis, Ginger, Gust, Paulie, Albert and Emily – but you’ll have to play the game to unravel those stories!
Upgraded riding system
We added the horse renting and riding feature in the last update. We’ve expanded on this so that you will now be able to buy your own horse and train it. We’ve also added other interaction options, and the ability to sprint and jump.
In addition to this, the horses in this update will have different attributes, which can all be improved by training, feeding and petting them. Once you’ve purchased a horse from MacDonald, you’ll need to train them to increase their attributes. While training, you’ll also need to be aware of the loyalty of your horse. Low loyalty will make the horse disobedient. For example, when you dismount and want your horse to follow or stay, a horse with low loyalty will probably go back home. Or, when you are riding and you want the horse to turn left, a horse with low loyalty may turn right, or stop walking altogether! Feed and pet your horse to increase the loyalty number.
Please note: the animation of the horse being disobedient, and the petting will be added in a later update.
Moving and repositioning chests
We’ve had a lot of feedback from the community regarding the ability to move storage boxes by holding them. We’ve added this ability in this update – so you’ll be able to pick up and reposition your storage box without needing to use your axe first!
The most romantic mini game!
Do you remember our first trailer? In the last scene, you and Emily were riding in a hot air balloon, flying across Portia town – so romantic! In this update, you can access the hot air balloon in a new mini-game. Ride with your friends, lovers, or even by yourself. We’ve included 5 routes for you to take and look at the world of My Time At Portia from a different angle.
New hazardous dungeon and abandoned ruins
A new hazardous dungeon named ‘Ingalls Apostrophe’ has been added into the game. Here, you will encounter new monsters. We’ve also added a new abandoned ruins. In this dungeon, you can mine new materials like aluminium and magnesium, and you’ll have a chance to find new relics too!
New mining tool
While we’re on the subject of mining, we have to mention an awesome new mining tool added in this update – the drill. This tool will mine faster than a pickaxe, and can mine more materials too. Everyone loves an upgrade, right?
#MyPortiaArt contest winners
Finally, we’d like to congratulate the winners of our #MyPortiaArt contest again! We picked two winners who created amazing pieces of art, and have added their artwork into the game in this update.
So that’s everything for this update, we hope you enjoy all the new features we’ve added – seeing you all enjoy your experience in My Time At Portia is what we love the most!

We know that you’ve been waiting for the next content update, and we’ve been working really hard to get everything ready for release. We were aiming to get this out by the end of the month, but we want to make sure that all our planned content works fine in this build, so we decided to release the official update a little bit late. But we offered a way called open test that you guys can experience the new content before the official update.
If you want to know how to do that, please go to the discussion board, and find the thread named Open Test Branch, you’ll find the details of how to switch the branch.
If you don’t have time to get to know the new Portia by yourself, then you can check the content that we wrote in this article and get more details of what we’ve been adding in this update. For example, there are more stories and missions – that’s what you guys expect most , new features in riding system, moving items by directly holding them, the most romantic mini game – ride hot air balloon, new hazardous dungeon and abandoned ruin, new monsters, new mining tool, and etc. Let us introduce new main features one by one for you. By finish reading this post, you’ll know what you’re expecting.
More Stories And Missions
I believe stories and missions are the part that you guys, at least most of you guys expect most. Well then, in this update, you can expect more new stories that related to the bus stations in the South Block, wind from desert, News camera, and Dada’s debt. Besides, you’re also gonna see more stories and side quests about Phyllis, Ginger, Gust, Paulie, Albert, and Emily.
Upgraded Riding System
In the 5.0 version of Portia, you can ride horse already. But the horse can only be rented, and the horse can only walk but not dash or jump. It feels like the riding system has been castrated. So, in this update, you can buy the horse, train your horse, and have more interactive options with them. In addition, the horse in this update have different attributes, which can be improved by training, feeding, or petting them. The whole procedure is that once you buy the horse from the McDonalds’, you can train your horse till all their attributes reach the max. While you train your horses, you’ll also need to be aware of their loyalty of your horses, cause the low loyalty will make the horse disobedient. For example, when you dismount or you want your horse follow or stay, the horse with low loyalty probably will go back home. Or when you’re riding the horse, and you want them turn left, the horse with low loyalty might turn right or stop walking instead. Feed and pet your horse can increase the loyalty number (but the animation of horse being disobedient and the petting will not be added into this version).
Moving & Repositioning Items
Well, moving items by directly holding them, we believe, is also the feature that you guys want most. In the 5.0, if you want to move the item and re-position it, you’ll need to use the axe to recycle the item first and re-position it. But now, you can just press F to hold it directly and move it to anywhere you want it to be. Plain and simple.
The Most Romantic Mini-game
Do you remember our first trailer? In the last scene, you an Emily were taking the hot air balloon, flying in the sky across the Portia town. How romantic it is. Well, you don’t have to be jealous about it. In this update, you can take the hot air balloon mini-game with your friends, your lovers, or even by yourself. We provide 5 routes for you to take a look at the Portia world in different angle.
New Hazardous Dungeon And New Abandoned Ruin
A new hazardous dungeon named Ingalls Apostrophe has been added into the game, where you can meet new monsters. Besides, a new abandoned ruin has also been added into the game. In this dungeon, you can dig out new types of mine like aluminum and magnesium, and you’ll have chance to find out new relics too.
New Mining Tool
Speaking of mining, there’s one new awesome mining tool in this update that we want to mention is drill. This is a tool that has a faster speed and can dig out much more materials than pickaxe in the same time. What a cool tool!
Award-Wining Fan Art in Game
In the last, we want to cognate again to the winners of our Fan Art competition. We have picked out two great works from tons of marvelous submissions. And as we promised, we’ve added them into the game (we did some minor changes of course to make the picture fit in).
So that’s it - the summary of the new features in this update. We really want you guys can have a great fantastic game experience in Portia. So, we’ll try to add as many fun features as possible, just to make sure you don’t feel boring in Portia. Hope you really enjoy the game.

Our eyes can't help but be drawn to this vibrant piece!
Today we’re excited to reveal a new feature that’s coming in April’s content update - Camera Mode! This new feature will allow you to take pictures with a camera and store them in an album, giving you the opportunity to document your adventures in Portia! Camera Mode will allow you to not only take a photo of a scene or NPCs, you can also take selfies and pose with the various residents of Portia!
Currently in My Time At Portia, if you see something you’d like to take a picture of, you’re limited to using external software or Steam’s F12 button. We felt this was too restrictive on our players as it doesn’t allow you to hide your character, change the camera angle or stop time to get the perfect shot. Our aim with the new Camera Mode is to make all of this right and support our picture taking enthusiasts in Portia! When using Camera Mode, your character and UI will disappear, and time will stop. We feel that this will take off a lot of pressure off the player when it comes to taking a good photo, far more convenient in our opinion!
To help introduce this new feature, we’ll also be adding some camera related stories/missions in the April update. These will be designed around snapping pictures of several NPCs, some specific items, as well as some of Portia’s scenery.
We’ve made it as easy as possible to take pictures with your fellow Portians, just look out for the prompt in a new interact bubble. Oh, and by the way, the closer you are with the NPC in question, the more poses you’ll be able to do!
What kind of poses do you think you’ll be able to do when Camera Mode launches? Tell us your guesses in the comments section!
That's all for now, we look forward to seeing what you make of Camera Mode when it launches later this month.
After this patch, we’ll move on to our next big update coming near the end of April. There will be a patch in between to add in German and French translations.
Optimized the electrical grid in the home Fixed crash while playing darts Changed Emily’s gathering logic when married so that she doesn’t harvest a plant anymore Fixed some English translations

Fixed the bug that the mission Rescue in Ingall's Mine cannot be triggered. Adjusted the position of drying rack's position. Fixed the time pause after the hugging. Reduced the harm effect when got poisoned. Added the lubricant as a dropping item in hazadous dungeon level 3 and level 4. And increased the dropping rate of lubricant in abandoned ruins. Fixed the bug that the museum reward can get repeatedly. Fixed the wrong room in hazadous dungeon. Fixed the bug that the icon of the picture is different from what it really looks like. Fixed the bug of Merlin's path finding. Fixed the display error of the character's skin color after wearing worker's suit. Fixed the bug that the leather sofa could make the character stuck in. Added the tips for the items which can be displayed in museum. Fixed the bug that Emily and Ack both stuck in character's front door.

Here is the hotfix part 2. And we'll have more fixes coming next week.
Changelist:
Fixed the bug when load the save in which the recycle machine was working. Deleted the broken mirror in store (if you already bought one, please do not use it because the divorce feature is not completed).
Besides, please do not interact with Ginger in Gale's house, for it will cause time pause for some reason. But if you did (interacted with Ginger in Gale's house), then don't worry, you'll just need to take a snap to moving forward.
If you still met any bugs (items missing, and the favor point got empty), please tell us and send your save files (the last good save before it went wrong) to admin@pathea.net.
