First, I'd like to thank all of you who chose to review the game as part as Autumn Sale challenge, it was amazing to see the rating count grow! Reaching 500 reviews is a huge milestone and you helped to make that happen.
Back to update! The latest version of Bacon May Die has a few new things. For example... Most of the explosives should deal some damage or at least knockback multiple enemies which was something I wanted from the very beginning.
I also wanted to rework the special moves that were an unintentional secret until some of the button mashers figured them out. I really don't like how they're performed... and neither does anyone else, I bet. It is tricky to add combos when you only have arrow keys to work with and those already do plenty.
So, here's a new "blade dash"! It might change the combo, but for now you have to double tap LEFT or RIGHT while holding DOWN. The old "rocket rain", "cutlass throw" and "spike slam" skills will have some adjustments made and likely to go in a sort of slot system where you can equip one or another to a certain key combination.
I also added nades to the menu of the weapon merchant, but there's only snowball available for now. The combo for throwing it is UP + BACK.
Do you have any suggestions for the skills or grenades? Let me know!
P.S. Don't forget to check out WORKSHOP for community made outfits! Some of them are awesome, others - hilarious!
So in this update doing a "flip back" (jump and press "back" while holding jump button) will throw a snowball. Needs a bit of tweaking and feels awkward at the beginning, but let me know what you think about it.
Maybe Going Premium One Day?
Since I've been doing quite a bit of work on this game again, I started to think about changing it from free to paid some time in the future. Especially if I'll manage to implement a few of the bigger ideas I have.
Nothing would change for players who have it installed already, but I could earn a bit of money. Not sure about the price yet, depends on how much the game will be improved until then ($3?).
Soooo, I randomly started working on a Workshop integration for Bacon May Die outfits and early version of it is already in the game. Play around with it and report any issues you notice or tell me about the features you'd like to see added to the outfit "manager"!
Short Guide
The anchor points of the pig are a bit weird, but they will have to do for now. I might add custom anchor points in the future, but don't count on that.
Few main things:
Pig has 4 outfit slots: glasses, hat, body and neck
You can publish single items or create awesome outfits from multiple parts
Center of the glasses is pinned between the eyes of the pig
Anchor point of the hats are at the bottom, not middle
There's no way to set the depth or hide ears yet
Use 128x128 image size for convenience
Pig has a weird body shape, because nature isn't perfect

I will provide a vector source with more examples some time during the weekend.
I'm looking for someone who could draw more outfits for Bacon May Die. The main requirement would be to fit existing style (outlines, colors, size, etc), which I find to be a tricky task despite art being relatively simple. Should also be vector art, so I could edit it easily if needed. Ability to think of new items would be a huge plus! This is a paid gig.
Bacon May Die is finally out of the pan in a form of a completely FREE release! Hope it's crispy enough for you to have some fun smashing a bunch of weird enemies around!
You can read about my reasons for releasing game this way in a recent Steam post. In short, it would be too complicated and time consuming to substantially improve it for a premium launch and I'd rather focus on making a proper Bacon May Die sequel later. Gonna need your feedback for that!
Now, what's in store for this release? It all depends on how much time I can find to work on it, but here are a few things I have in mind for the future.
Bug fixes and balance tweaks depending on feedback
Fixing hitboxes of a few annoying hard-to-hit enemies (hedgehogs, bats)
