BUILD HIGHLIGHTS
NEW GAME MODE: CLAN ARENA
  • 4v4 team-play found in Practice, Quick Play, and Custom Game

Death Knight
  • Fixed fireballs so they now properly apply the DOT on impact
  • Lowered the fireball damage from 25 to 20 each
  • Changed DK firetrails so that they no longer give a DOT, but instead give damage when standing on the trail. Trail damage is 10 pts every 1 sec standing on the trail. Standing on more than one trail will result in 10 damage per trail
Slash
  • Increased the volume of the third person crouch sliding sound effects
Sorlag
  • Max speed cap reduced from 640 to 600 ups
  • Removed the hitbox cylinders from Sorlag's tail, to prevent unexpected or odd knockback
Strogg
  • Increased the volume of the third person crouch sliding sound effects
MAP UPDATES
Awoken
  • Extended an anti-totem domain to include an exterior wall outside of the map
Blood Covenant
  • Removed some spawns from Duel, one near Lightning Gun and one near Super Nailgun
Tempest Shrine
  • Added Duel support using the smaller TDM/DM version, but with the Rocket Launcher and Super Nailgun locations swapped
The Molten Falls
  • Added an anti-totem domain below the hallway between Railgun and the nearby Teleporter
  • Added anti-totem domain between Rocket Launcher and Mega Health on the outside route
Vale of Pnath
  • Fixed an out of bounds exploit at the secret Teleporter where players could stand/hide on some rocks
NEW CLIENT OPTIONS
  • Show Damage Offscreen - Display damage done off-screen at the edge or bottom of your screen
  • Damage Number Scale - Scale up the font size of the damage numbers
GAME UPDATES
  • Fixed the End of Match Delay that would either cause the match to quickly cut away before you could see the final frag, or allow someone to get a frag just after the timelimit or fraglimit were reached. Both now fixed
  • Fixed the Main Menu texture quality of all items added to the game since November 2018, they appear in highest quality regardless of Texture Quality settings (textures are streamed in as called)
  • Increased the size of the nail projectile model for improved visibility (their red glow is now more noticeable. This does not affect its hitsphere or likelihood to hit)
  • Fixed the round timer getting out of sync with the round start in round based modes
  • Round VO for Rounds 4-19+ added for game modes with an extended number of rounds
  • Attack & Defend was reverted back in both name and game rules to the original Slipgate. Because A&D was too close to Clan Arena, we felt it best to have these modes be unique and stand apart. If you liked the old Slipgate, rejoice. If you preferred A&D, please give Clan Arena a try
  • Pulsar Railgun FX fixed in third person (now green instead of blue)
  • Fixed “sound size” of the Mega Health to match the Heavy Armor (some noticed MH was harder to hear than HA despite having the same radius and volume)
  • Reduced the volume of the Q4 CONSTRUCTOR SNG first person hum
  • Removed death sound effect from elimination based modes
  • Glow effect on new attachments when they are first equipped in the customization menu
  • Fixed Custom Game game mode defaults for score and timelimit, so that you no longer have to remember to set their values
  • Updated all game mode icons to unify their design language

GAME UPDATES
  • Fixed a stats overflow that was both breaking players profile pages and preventing the end-game Battle Report from displaying. This was affecting players who had more than a month of in-match playtime for one or more Champions
  • Suicides no longer count as both a kill and a death, and will decrease the Scoreboard K/D ratio
  • Keypad Enter can now be used as a second Enter key
  • Fixed Nyx Ghost face which had duplicated geometry on top of itself, creating a visual seam at the eyebrows
  • Extended match delay following Sudden Death by 2 seconds in Duel, 2v2, and CTF
  • Fixed the stripes on the United Kingdom flag profile icon
  • Re-integrated the EBONY & IVORY Shotgun as Premium Shaders for the EL DIABLO super shotgun. If you owned either of these shard-weapons but you did not own the EL DIABLO, you have also been granted the EL DIABLO for free

SOUND UPDATES
Overview (Stereo & Surround)
  • Increased the frequence of Jump VO events from 20 to 100% of the time, so you always hear an audible grunt when a player jumps
  • Incresaed the volume of Doom Slayer’s movement sounds effects
  • Removed RG and LG hum sounds from a Nyx when in Ghostwalk
  • Fixed first person death sounds when dying at 1HP (pain sounds were playing instead of death screams)
  • Increased the volume of the power-up wear off notification
  • Increased the volume of the MG & SG first person sounds
  • Reduced Ranger to one low pain health sound, the newer more identifiable yell
  • Reverted Breakable sounds to a linear falloff, they were too quiet at a reasonable distance

MAP UPDATES
Awoken
  • Fixed root and staircase wall collision in the RL/NG room
  • Disabled lower HA spawns in Duel modes
  • Fixed hole in archway between NG and HA
Blood Covenant
  • Removed the two visible LG stairwell spawns from Time Limit Duel (one remains in the stairwell, but not in line-of-sight of the lower archway
  • Removed one spawn in front of the Bridge Stairwell from Time Limit Duel.
  • In the three locations with double 25H HPs in TDM, made FFA modes have the same 50 HP layout
  • Fixed heavy armor staircase collision, players were getting caught especially along the interior wall.
Blood Run
  • Moved the Light Armor near nailgun to the Power-up ledge
  • Reduced the 50 HP in the Hourglass hallway to 25 HP in Duel modes
  • Repositioned ammo boxes near Tri-bolt
  • Fixed additional hole/seam in the geometry near Heavy Armor (Hourglass side)
  • Fixed additional hole/seam in the geometry near Heavy Armor (HA Side)

  • Fixed acid pool collision near RG tp
  • Reorientated spawns in the Mega Health room, so that they do not point the player towards the toilet bowl causing them to accidentally fall in upon spawning
The Longest Yard
  • Replaces the HMG and bullets with SNG and nails
  • Cleaned up the positioning of the RL and rocket ammo pickups
The Molten Falls
  • Fixed clipping at the LG jumppad
  • Fixed clipping above the LG
  • Fixed wall collision near RG jumppad

Salutations, Quakers! This hotfix corrects the issues preventing new players from logging in due to account creation and Steam linking, as well as correcting the missing Terms of Service prompt for returning players.

Our Fall Update is now LIVE with two new modes; new Battle Pass content; balance changes; bug fixes; and more!

BUILD HIGHLIGHTS
NEW RANKED SEASON
We’re kicking off the new season with a new ranked mode and a Leaderboard reset. Everyone begins Season 4 with a clean slate and can begin qualification matches on day 1, no need to level up before jumping into the fray. To test everyone’s skills, we’ve added Time Limit Duel to Ranked Play, which has been in the forefront since QuakeCon and the launch of the new Quake Pro League and Challenger Cups.

Now is a great time to challenge yourself in Ranked Play, completed your qualification matches, and work your way up the Leaderboard. Participating in Ranked Play is a great way to improve your skills, challenge yourself, and eventually prove yourself – and hopefully have some fun along the way. :)

How does Time Limit Duel work?
  • Objective. Choose 1 Champion, pre-selected prior to the match and are locked into place for the duration of play. Earn the most frags in 10-minutes, or first to twenty frags to win! If players are tied at the end of 10-minutes, players enter into Sudden Death and pressure mounts as the next frag leads to victory.
  • In Custom Game, TLD works just as you have come to know it. Two players in the Custom Game Lobby have an unlimited amount of time to make their Champion choices, with no restrictions. Players can increase the frag count, choose to disable abilities, or agreed to house rules for their Champion and map selections. Once the Party Leader is ready, they initiate the match and off you go!
  • In Ranked Play, TLD is largely the same, but with one new twists – blind picks. Once you have been matched with an opponent, each player will be given 15 seconds to decide who they wish to play. There are no restrictions on who you get to play, and your choice is made in private. You may have a favorite Champion that you always wish to play, you may make a decision based on the map voted upon, or you may want to make a strategic choice by attempting to guess who your opponent may select if you happen to have know their playstyle. Once both players have locked in their selections, the Champion matchups are revealed in-game when you see the two Champions face-off before entering warm-up.
  • We hope you enjoy this classic staple of Quake Duel.

Even the creature of the night are prey to the Ash King.

NEW MODE: CLASSIC FFA
We’ve added a new game mode to Quick Play, a classic take on Free-For-All where Ranger has found himself trapped in a nightmare from when he had first entered the Dreamlands. With the all-mother Shub still up to no good and no Dire Orb at his disposal, Ranger only has his trusty Gauntlet and Machinegun at his side, along with any weapons he can add to his arsenal along his way.

  • Spawn with Gauntlet, Machinegun, 125/100 HP, 0/100 AP
  • No spawn protection
  • Slower weapon respawn
  • On death, players drop weapon but do not drop shards
GAME MODE UPDATES

  • Removed 2 second delay on ending Sudden Death. This would allowed additional score changes after the sudden death requirement was met, leaving the match with odd and undesirable ranking results

SOUND UPDATES
Overview (Stereo & Surround)
  • Improved directional positioning
  • Reduced volume of ambient sounds
  • Updates & fixes to reduce sound cutting out when a large number of sounds were playing
  • Reduced the volume of teammates and weapon fire not directed at you, to help you isolate and target the enemies that are immediate threats
  • Unified character sounds to a 32m (1280 u) sound radius. Most of these sounds had a radius of 37.5m (1500 u) but varied. As a comparison for those familiar with our previous titles, the max sound distance in Quake Live is 1250u.
  • Unified and reduced weapon firing and explosion sounds from 70m (2800 u) to 45m (1800 u) radius.
  • Added player respawn sounds audible within a 20m (800 u) radius
  • Added third-person weapon switching sound events, you can now hear enemies switch weapons within a 20m (800 u) radius
  • Fixed BJ-Duel Wield sounds
  • Fixed Tri-bolt Quad sound
  • Added ~250 new VO lines, increasing the diversity but not frequency of VO
HRTF 3D Positional Sound (Beta)Improvements and fixes made to the HRTF Beta, but is currently only recommended for matches with small player counts, such as Duel.
Want to try HRTF 3D Positional Sound? Be sure to check the following:
  • Set in-game Speaker Configuration to Stereo
  • Enable HRTF before you play, HRTF can only be enabled or disabled in Settings while not in-game
  • You must be using Stereo Headphones. Special headphones are not needed, you can use anything from Ear Buds to Studio Monitor Headphones, but headphones that have Surround Sound features should have those features disabled or they would not be recommended.
  • Spatial Sound in windows should be set to (Off)
  • Disable any other Windows or audio driver level Surround Sound simulations or environmental effects

Hit Boxes
  • Increased the radius of the existing Torso Capsule to 0.4m (16u) for all Champions, giving a consistent center mass hitbox. Arms, legs, and head hit volumes still exist as additional hit areas
Play Now UI
  • New Deathmatch Icon
Scoreboard UI
  • Added Kill/Death Ratio to all non-Duel Scoreboards
  • We no longer show your player at the top of your team’s scoreboard regardless of placement
Leaderboard UI
  • Removed the unused Season dropdown

Control Settings
  • Updated Zoom Sensitivty to use auto-scaling focal length sensitivity
  • Added ‘Auto-Scale Zoom Sensitivity’ option. Recommend and enabled by default, this will apply focal length scaling to your mouse sensitivity while zoomed. When disabled, there is no auto-zoom scaling and the Zoom Sensitivity Multiplier will be applied directly to your mouse sensitivity, allowing you more control over your zoom sens.
  • Updated Control Settings layout to support new options, keep weapon and movement binds “above the fold” and position the often adjusted mouse sensitivity values closer to the Save button
  • Added greater precision to the Mouse Sensitivity, Pitch, Yaw, Mouse Accel, Mouse Accel Offset, Mouse Accel Sensitivity Cap, and Zoom Sensitivity Multiplier sliders
Audio Settings
  • We now show values on the Audio Sliders
  • Added two classic Quake Live Kill Beep options: Bell and ChaChing

Air Acceleration / Strafing Updates: strafing will now feel like previous Quake titles.
  • Light’s accel increased 0.85 to 1.0

*Exception of Visor, who’s Passive grants him the base speed and air accel of a light Champion

Anarki
  • Hoverboard becomes silent after Anarki has remained still for a short period of time

  • Flame Wall lifetime increased from 3 to 5 seconds

Eisen
  • Repurpose passive from Armor Pickups reduced on Heavy Armors from 20% to 10% and on Light Armors from 10% to 5% cooldown recovery

Galena
  • Channeling passive from Mega Health reduced from 20 to 10% cooldown recovery
  • Unholy Totem is no longer invulnerable during deployment.
  • Unholy Totem activation delay reduced from 0.75 to 0.5 seconds

Keel
  • Increased Grenade Bounce coefficient from 0.35 to 0.5

Ranger
  • Ranger Dire Orb collision increased from a point to 0.05m sphere
    • Prevents some issues of it escaping the map through thin seams
Slash
  • Slide Tackle no longer pops up teammates
  • Slide Tackle no longer pops up Nyx in Ghostwalk

Sorlag
  • Reduced spit velocity from 25 to 20 m/s (1000 to 800 ups), reducing the max range it can be spat.
  • Acid Pool lifetime decreased from 10 to 5 seconds

Strogg & Peeker
  • Added new Passive: a short 1-second Crouchslide

Visor

Hey Quakers! The latest PTS update is now LIVE!

Please note that this build is not representative of the final build coming in the next official Live Build update. There may be further features added/removed/shifted as well as additional PTS builds to test these. Also, the patch notes below will always be abridged versions compared to the Live Build. Understanding this is paramount.

How do I get the PTS?
On Steam, in your Library, you should now have what looks like a whole new listing for a game called “Quake Champions PTS” that should be right under “Quake Champions” in your list of games.

If you don’t see the “Quake Champions PTS” as above, try this: From within the Steam Client, go to the Quake Champions Store page. Just above the Play Game button there should be a blue box that says "Want to participate in the Quake Champions Public Test Server? Click here to install it now." Click there, and it should add PTS to your Steam Library. If you still can't find it or have any additional issues, please contact one of our lovely CS team and they can sort you out: https://help.bethesda.net/

Time Limit Duel Lobby
  • We now Show and Hide the Champion Select Confirm Button during the appropriate phases of the Ranked Blind Pick

Today's update includes the brand new mode: Time Limit Duel, a new season of Free & Premium Battle Pass, champion and weapon balance changes and a ton of new QoL updates including a bunch of cool new toggle options in main menu for community-requested features like switch weapon on empty; low health warning; and show damage indicator; just to name a few.







New Game Mode: TIME LIMIT DUEL
Available only in Custom Game, Time Limit Duel is a a roundless, time limit-based duel mode. Players select one Champion in the Custom Game Lobby before the match and fight for dominance until time has elapsed.

Quality of Life Updates
- Switch on Empty: Choose whether the weapon auto-switches away when attempting to fire without ammo
- Show Damage Indicator: Choose to enable/disable the radial UI element on the HUD that shows the direction of incoming damage
- Taking Damage Warning: Choose to enable/disable the sound effect that plays every time you receive damage. When disabled, your champion pain sounds become your primary audio cue for damage received
- Low Health Warning: Choose to enable/disable the sound effect that plays when you reach 25 hp or below
- Low Health Heavy Breathing: Choose to enable/disable the Heavy Breathing VO that plays when a champion is 25 hp & below
- Champion VO Quips: Control the frequency of the Champion Quips on Frag, Assist, Respawn, and Critical Health voice overs. 0 = off, 0.5 = 50% of the time, 1.0 = always play
- Kill Beep: Control the sound effect played when killing a player to Off/Default/Ding


New Weapons available for Shards
- Joining last Seasons additions of the Ebony & Ivory Shotguns, the EXTERMINATOR Railgun has been added






- Bots now strafe jump for higher skilled bots
- Bots now randomize outfits and vanities and use the full array of names that were available in Custom Game when multiple bots of the same Champion type were added
- Item pick-ups are disabled in warm-up during the pre-game countdown
- Reduced, by default, how often your Champion plays a voice over quips by 50%
- Critical Health VO: Added 3 new VO lines for each Champion. When a Champion falls below 25 HP, they can play one of these quips to let you know that you are critically low on health and should heal up.
- Removed Breakables in Ranked Modes
- In 2v2 TDM, reduced maximum respawn time from 15 to 10 seconds

Fixes

- Fixed the Stuck on Loading Screen Bug – The game client could crash and get stuck in an internal loading screen following a match, most frequently seen following Slipgate matches
- Fixed the Daily Challenge Reroll Bug – The game client could get into a bad UI state if the player rerolled a challenge and receive a duplicate of another Daily Challenge they have already completed. This would prevent them from playing until the Daily Challenges recycle.
- Fixed memory leak found with Tri-bolt projectiles
- Reduced how far dropped items are tossed from dead players; players were getting denied their earned power-ups when killing carriers because the power-up would toss out so far in random directions.
- Duel scoreboards no longer reveal important enemy pickup information (HP earned, MH pickups, medals, xp earned hidden)
- Reduce Nail Size. This change makes nails points like our rockets so that they can pass through grates and aren’t quite as easy to land.
- Fixed Galena’s Totem HUD UI, which would sometimes show more than the max 3 totems
- Fixed the ability overlay (ex. Nyx blue screen fx, Doom Slayer red screen fx) were broken when players were using FXAA antialiasing
- Match Time added to Death UI HUDs in all modes
- The Contact list is now alphabetized to help players quickly locate their friends and followers

UPDATE: Maintenance is complete, servers are now LIVE!

HEY QUAKERS,

At 10:00 EST/14:00 GMT today, Tuesday, February 26, there will be a brief maintenance as reorganize the datacenter selection menu to better illustrate which geographical regions each datacenter serves, and we will be spooling down servers that split population regions. By expanding coverage for each location in this way, players should see shorter queue times and have access to a wider pool of players for closer skill-based matchmaking.

After the update, players will be able to select from the following datacenters:

NA-East
NA-West
NA-Central
EU-Central
EU-East
ASPAC-North
ASPAC-Central
ASPAC-South
SA

Hello Quakers!

We've revamped the XP scoring system to strongly reward players for participation and performance in a match, and substantially decrease the amount of XP for idling in matches.

Here are some of the changes we've made:

  • Increased Kills from 3 to 100
  • Increased Assists 1 to 50
  • Increased Medals 7-35 to 10-50
  • Increased 1st Place 35 to 500
  • Increased 2nd Place 17 to 250
  • Increased 3rd Place 7 to 100
  • Increased MVP 17 to 50
  • Decreased Match Completion 1120 to 50
  • Decreased First Game 700 to 250
  • Decreased First Win 1400 to 250

This will lower the average earned XP for idle/afk players from 1500-2000 to about 350-500. Active players, depending on their performance, should earn an average of 2k-8k XP per match; significantly more than what was on the live build. This should help players get over the progression hump they have experienced near Level 35.

We’ve also greatly increased the Custom Game XP output to nearly match Live Public games for Kill, Assist and Medal bonuses. However, we of course removed the bonuses for Match Completion, First Game, First Win. So now players who over index in Custom Game matches with friends or practicing with bots will now earn a proper amount of XP towards their BattlePass goals.
