In this special event running November 17-30, Choose a Side splits the Quake Champions roster into two factions – Team Eisen and Team Clutch. As you play matches, each frag you score adds to that Champion’s respective team. The full roster of Champions is unlocked for the entirety of the event for F2P players! At the end of each week, players will receive their prize based on the side with the most frags. Full details here.

Even as a starship captain who’s seen more than his fair share of struggles, nothing could prepare Eisen for the bloodshed caused when the Clutch AI turned homicidal against its human masters – killing Eisen’s closest friends and loved ones in the process.

Now hunting down the rogue robot through the Dreamlands, Eisen utilizes his special ability – the Sentry Turret – to watch his back. Once deployed, the Sentry Turret can alert Eisen of an enemy’s presence and fire off warning shots as a deterrent. While useful in keeping a step ahead of his foes, Eisen’s Turret focuses on utility over raw damage and is susceptible to enemy fire, so be mindful where you place it!

Ammo
Unified weapon ammo pick-up behaviors between modes, so the behavior you experience in FFA is also now present in Duel
  • Now all weapons will fill you to their starting pickup value if you are low on ammo. If you have the starting ammo value or greater for a weapon and you pick-up the gun again, it will only grant you +1 for low rate of fire weapons or +10 for high rate of fire weapons.

Power-ups
All power-ups, in all modes, now initially spawn at 90 sec and then respawn every 2 minutes afterwards. (Doing away with inconsistent rules between game modes. - - Previously power-ups spawned at 45 sec in Sacrifice, 80 sec in Slipgate, and 120 sec in DM/TDM.)

Health Pickups
All health pickups now remove all debuff effects, like fire and acid dots
Small Health can now be consumed when over max health, if the player has a debuff effect

Blood Pools
Blood Pools now remove all debuff effects, like fire and acid dots

Teleporters
Exit speeds are now based only off of your horizontal velocity (ups), no longer taking your vertical (falling) velocity into account
Exit speeds are now capped at 1000 ups

Armor Protection / Protection / Spawn Protection
Rate changed from 0.66 to 0.67 to address inaccurate health/armor split values

Instagib
  • Abilities are still present but only deal normal damage
  • Only Railgun and Gauntlet deal insta-damage
Slipgate
  • Players can no longer join mid-round. Players & bots that join during the round will remain spectators until the next round begins
  • Fixed inaccurate Quad VO that could occur between rounds

New Mode: SLIPGATE

Slipgate is an attack-and-defend mode where both teams fight over the Slipgate portal: a massive wormhole capable of summoning an ancient unnamed horror. Each-and-every sharpshooter spawns with all weapons, full health, full armor but a single, precious, precious life. The defending team of Elder God cultists are trying to open the Slipgate, while the attacking team must stand on the point to close the gate before whatever tentacled terror on the other side pulls itself into our dimension!

LIMITED TIME EVENT: SLIPGATE FESTIVAL

From October 11th - 31st all players taking part from day one will immediately receive the Elder Guardian Tentacle Weapon Shaders for all starting weapons (Machinegun, Shotgun, & Nailgun)!

Subsequent festival milestones will result in the new Annihilator Heavy Machine Gun Skin being gifted to all participants, then unlocking the Overseer Scalebearer Lore Skin and, ultimately, Athena – or her Coalition Lore Skin if the Champion is already owned either through the Champions Pack, or by purchasing Athena any time before the goal is reached.

New Champion: ATHENA

Athena was among the first to sign up to the GDF and seek vengeance against the Strogg who devastated Earth. Caught in a trap laid for the expeditionary forces, she escaped when a Slipgate generator collapsed, teleporting her drop pod into the Dreamland arenas. Now she uses her grapple line throws and aerial acrobatics to dominate the airspace above her enemies and rain death from above.

Active Ability – Grappling Hook: Athena will launch a grappling hook to the target location and immediately pull herself towards it. While in flight, Athena can stop pulling herself and instead swing, allowing her to perform impressive maneuvers:

  • Swing Damage 50
Passive Ability – Ramp Jump: Athena can reach great heights by using the top ramp or step as a launching platform.

Arcade Modes

A brand new way to queue up and play! The Arcade is a weekly rotation of rule modifiers that shake up how you play Quake Champions in fun, different ways. This month we’re introducing four new modes, one for each week of the month (in order of appearance):

UNHOLY TRINITY TDM
Choose any champion, all weapons have been removed from the map, however you spawn with the unholy trinity – Rocket Launcher, Railgun, & Lightning gun & NOW WITH A TEAM FULL OF FRIENDS! Armor and health are still present on the map. Practice your combos!

LEAD THE WAY
Everybody’s Scalebearer in a Free For All Deathmatch where Bull Rush is an insta-kill on your enemies. So, basically, it’s an Insta Scaletrain to ChooChoo town!

SWINGER PARTY
Put your keys in the bowl and… No, not THAT kind of party!!! Everybody’s Athena in a Free for All Deathmatch where a direct Grappling Hook shot on an enemy Athena is an insta-kill. So, basically, it’s a SWINGER’S PARTY.

SACRIFICE
Remember Sacrifice? Well, it’s that, but now w/ a shorter cap time - down from two-and-a-half minutes to just one minute!

New Weapon Skin: ANNIHILATOR

Used on all galactic fronts, the SMC Annihilator is a space marine's best friend. It punches holes through enemies like they were paper. This Quake 4 Heavy Machine gun fits right into to any player's perfect arsenal.

GENERAL IMPROVEMENTS

Game Hardening: The team have taken a forensic look under the game’s hood in order to better deliver solid framerates and eradicate ‘ghost’ inputs as part of our ongoing commitment to improving the game’s performance.

GREETINGS CHAMPIONS!

The September game update includes a new map: Longest Yard; four new Arcade Modes; Quake 2’s Super Shotgun Vanity Skin “Trespasser” (named by you, our community!); Champion & Weapon balance changes; and performance improvements.

BUILD HIGHLIGHTS:

New Map: Longest Yard
Only the power of the Rune of Black Magic prevents the floating ruins of Volkerh’s tabernacle from tumbling into the Blind God’s oblivion-maw.

The classic bottomless space map returns! Beware railguns and ringouts in this open area map where jump pads propel you to new heights and distant floating islands.

Arcade Modes
A brand new way to queue up and play! The Arcade is a weekly rotation of rule modifiers that shake up how you play Quake Champions in fun, different ways. This month we’re introducing four new modes, one for each week of the month (in order of appearance):

  • Unholy Trinity - Holy Trinity weapons only: the Rocket Launcher, Railgun, and Lightning Gun! This is the only mode with abilities disabled.
  • Hot Rockets - Rocket Launchers only! Your own rockets won’t hurt you (so rocket jump to your heart’s content), but they’ll do triple damage to your enemies!
  • Mystery Champion - Each time you respawn, you’ll come back to the Arena as a random Champion!
  • Team Instagib - Now you can play this one shot, one kill mode with friends!

New Weapon Skin: "Trespasser"
Like a Berserker bursting out of a monster closet, the pump-action QUAKE 2 Super Shotgun likes to get up close and personal to its target, only to obliterate it.

Our players suggested the name for this one based off the Quake 2 Berserker Strogg's famous voice line, and we just had to use it!

Bot Backfill support
Bots will now fill in when players leave during a match to prevent uneven games.

Party Queuing for Deathmatch and Instagib
Want to frag your friends in free-for-all modes? Of course you do, and now you can! Players in parties can now queue up for Deathmatch and Instagib Quck Play modes.

PERFORMANCE UPDATES:
In this update we’ve included a number of performance improvements:

  • Gore System improvements – Decreases performance spikes caused by players respawning
  • Logic optimizations – Reduces performance spikes upon respawn; score events; entity creation & destruction; and increases FPS
  • Particle and Sound Effects optimization - Reduces hitching issues

KNOWN ISSUES AND FAQ:

Longest Yard Map
"Why is the Quad Damage powerup floating in the air where it cannot be reached?"
This is known to occur when a player carrying Quad damage is killed in between a series of jumps.

"Why does my performance drop in The Longest Yard?"
There is a known issue where performance may drop when the player is looking towards the central area of the map. A workaround is to lower graphics settings. This is intended to be fixed in a future update.

Spectator Mode
"I cannot stay on a particular player with the Spectator Auto-Follow camera."
There is a known issue where Spectators in Auto-Follow mode cannot disable it using hotkeys. To disable Auto-Follow mode, switch to Free-Camera, or Fixed-Camera, and then back to the player you want to follow.
