Flashing Lights - Police, Firefighting, Emergency Services (EMS) Simulator - James Clements

Hello everyone,

Welcome to our latest Flashing Lights update! Today we are announcing that the Flashing Lights Closed Alpha will kick off on 15th March. Take a listen to my lovely colleague Chris explain all about the Closed Alpha in the new video below:

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=n1w0uGvgkO4

With the Closed Alpha beginning on 15th March, you have just under one week left to apply before the sign up form closes. To apply, scroll down to the bottom of http://flashinglightsgame.com/ and fill out the form.

Please do be aware that the amount of applicants accepted into the Closed Alpha will be limited - and that those of you who are accepted will be under NDAs, meaning that no content from players will be able to be posted online at this time.

That said, we value every single one of you who sign up for the Closed Alpha, which is why next week we will be sending you all a sign up reward, whether or not you are chosen to participate in the alpha.

New EMS Screenshots

We've also released a batch of new screenshots today, two of which you will have seen already in this announcement. The other four highlight EMS gameplay, showcasing the inspection of a patient at an accident scene, as well as the stretcher.

And that's it for today! Make sure to sign up for the Closed Alpha if you haven't already, and check your email inboxes next week, when we will be letting you know if you've been selected or not, and will be sending you the sign up reward.

Remember, don't be too disheartened if you do not get selected to participate in the Closed Alpha. We will be sharing much more of the game leading up to the 18th May Early Access launch to tide you over until then.

Hello everyone,

We cannot thank you enough for all of your support so far! We're very excited by all of the activity on the Flashing Lights forums, social media and more.

For this reason, we wanted to offer you something a little different - a developer diary video, with commentary directly from the developer, Nils. Take a look at the YouTube video above.

In case you missed it, we also are going to be holding a Closed Alpha in the coming weeks - while the amount of players we accept into the Alpha will be limited, please do scroll towards the bottom of this page and sign up if you haven't already!

Once again, thank you very much for all of the support, and we look forward to sharing more with you over the coming weeks and all the way up to our 18th May Early Access release. Make sure to add Flashing Lights to your Steam wishlist to keep up to date.

Hello everyone,

Today I'm pleased to reveal that Flashing Lights will release in Early Access on 18th May 2018, at a price of $14.99. (We will also likely run a launch week discount.)

As we promised in last week's announcement, we have a brand new trailer for you too!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MoadMscx2Ac

You may notice the police officer model has changed. In time the fire department and EMS will also have new models and textures. But this is the first piece of major work that our new artist has created.

We'll be capturing some more screenshots and updating the Steam Page within the next few days. But right now, if you aren't able to watch the above video for any reason, we have a few screenshots from the video below.

Flashing Lights will launch with online multiplayer from day one of Early Access, which is a major reason why we will be holding a Closed Alpha prior to release. This will help us to stress test how many players are able to join a single server and to locate any nasty bugs before release.

We'll share more details regarding the Closed Alpha very soon, but we are now accepting applications for the test!

Head towards the bottom of http://www.flashinglightsgame.com/ to fill out the form and be entered for the chance to participate in the Closed Alpha!

Thank you for all of the support so far! Make sure to add the game to your Steam wishlist to keep up to date with all news, and get your friends together in preparation for release on 18th May 2018!

Hi everyone, above is just a quick screenshot of the progress on the city. Of course, this particular city has a high interest in a certain model and color of car, though in the future we will of course be adding more variety to NPC cars!

Right now, we're working on a brand new trailer, and we may even be able to show off a new police officer model. Stay tuned for more details next week

Hello everyone,

We hope that everyone has had an excellent start to 2018. We've come back from the holidays fully charged and eager to hop on to develop the game. Over the past few weeks we've been working on the AI traffic and the parking ticket system.

Traffic AI
AI drivers were previously a menace to society, ignoring any designated rules of the road and causing a selection of disastrous vehicular collisions which not only caused some vehicles to probably be classified as write offs, but would also cause a pile up of stationary vehicles blocking traffic.

Some work has however been done to improve the AI and they now stop and yield to incoming traffic at intersections. While this should of course be expected, we're still pleased with how the system is working right now.

Additionally, we've also worked on Traffic light systems and have synchronized the lights so that they work with online multiplayer.

Parking
When loading the game, each session will see cars placed in various parking spots. This kind of adds to the world as there is always a row of cars on the road. But there will be times when a busy road may have fewer cars parked in that particular area and other times when a quiet cul de sac will see an increase in parked cars. Of course, this leads to the environment changing slightly and may even play a factor in accessibility to certain areas.

Parking Tickets
The bane of the average driver, parking tickets. As an on the beat police officer you will be able to issue parking tickets to various vehicles based on whether they were in a no parking zone, parked in a handicapped area without displaying a proper disabled badge. You as the player will need to decide what reason you are issuing a parking ticket and then fill out the form

Any tickets that you create will then be placed on the actual vehicle and can be seen and read by other players online.

Online Multiplayer Testing With PC and MAC
Flashing Lights Early Access release will see both PC and MAC support. We've been doing some testing with both platforms communicating with each other online. Everything seems to be working pretty much right away! So regardless of your friends platform of choice, you'll be able to play with them. Below are just a few images of a Mac and PC player playing online together

Note: We do not condone any fire department to blast a police officer in the face with a water directly from a fire hose, there's a high probability that they won't take too kindly to that...

Short Graphics And Art Update
In other news we are at the stages of working with an art audio who will be creating 3D models for Flashing Lights. We are anticipating that we will also be working with other individual artists for game objects too. Nothing is quite yet set in stone, but we hope that working with these artists will definitely allow us to bring Flashing Lights up to scratch on a visual level

So there we have it! this week has been working on parts of the AI and elements of the police role. Next month we will be looking at introducing a few game mechanics to both the Fire and EMS so stay tuned for some more info on those services in due course!

Thanks to everyone who has shown support in Flashing Lights, we've seen a massive spike in the forums and even on the figures for the wishlist numbers on Steam. If you have come across the game and want to be kept up to date with news, do add the game to your wishlist. More news will be incoming soon!
