We wanted more Humans to have the wonderful chance to have their mind transferred into a robot body! We are happy to announce that today we are releasing the Clone Drone in the Danger Zone Demo for everyone to enjoy and help them decide if they want to buy the full game.
[THIS COMPETITION HAS FINISHED, CONGRATULATIONS TO THE WINNERS!] To celebrate, we are having a small competition. For the first 10 people to send us a selfie video or picture of them getting destroyed by the Emperor’s laser at the very end of the demo, we will give them a free copy of the full game on Steam! You can send your picture to us on Twitter, Discord or email josh@doborog.com
Be careful in the Danger Zone, Josh, Community Manager
Hey all! This was a teeny tiny update, mostly small server-side/crash fixes and things to prepare for future work on the game. This update will hit Steam today, and consoles before long (cross-play will continue to work throughout!)
- Restore original game app icon for Windows/macOS (long live sword head logo!) - Added a few new secret emotes to be used for future events/competitions - Fix Projectile.getCurrentFrame crash that could occur when joining a multiplayer match (shout out Gorakh and all who sent us crash screenshots for help tracking this one down!) - Fix crash that can occur when joining a Private LBS lobby mid-match - Added server-side fix and more debugging logic to rare crash that can occur when Private LBS matches auto-select a level - Fix issue with Twitch Web Extension not connecting (more details in this thread)
The Beginners Welcome competition was huge so thank you for entering. The "Rest in Pieces" emote will be added in an update soon and everyone who submitted a level will get it.
https://steamcommunity.com/sharedfiles/filedetails/?id=2785199340 We recommend inviting some friends to hang out and see how far you can get through this tricky jumping puzzle together. (A hint for the first jumping challenge is that you can still jump for a little while after you have walked off the edge of the platform!)
The adventure levels are much harder to make because they are more open and complex so it's no surprise that more experienced level editors made some really impressive levels!
Thank you everyone for participating. If you want to ask for feedback or help with more level editing make sure to visit our discord! https://discord.com/invite/doborog
You worked hard to make fun levels! Everyone who made a qualifying level will get the "Rest in Pieces" emote.
We are so happy to see lots of new people entering the competition! There are 99 entries this time which is 3 times as many as previous competitions! Playing them all will take longer than expected and we're not sure when the winners will be announced.
While you wait to see which levels we feature, play all the levels yourself! There are some really creative uses of the level editor and giving feedback to creators will help everyone improve.
Another thing we would love to hear is feedback on the level editor tutorial videos. Did they help you? Are there any topics you want to see them cover?
I will be playing some of the levels live on http://Twitch.tv/gamingftl over the next week or two. I will need your help to test the Last Bot Standing levels and you can share which levels you enjoyed in the twitch chat :D
We have made a series of videos on how to make fun levels with the level editor, so we thought it would be the perfect time for a new Level Editor Competition!
The Beginners Welcome Level Competition
This competition is to encourage everyone to make levels so the new "Rest in Pieces" Emote reward will go to everyone who submits a level!
If you have an idea for a level, try to make it! We are not looking for perfection, just levels that try to be fun.
We will pick our favorite level from each of Endless Mode, Adventure Mode, Last Bot Standing and Challenge Mode. This means that you can make whatever you want, we will be looking for fun ideas and even if they aren't perfect you still have a chance to be featured!
The competition starts NOW and ends on Monday 28th March at 23:00 GMT.
To our veteran Level creators this might not seem like a very long time, but for this competition, try to work on small, focused ideas that you can finish in a week!
Do you want feedback on your level? Do you want to know if something specific is fun? Make sure you mention that in the workshop description. The Doborog team and the community will write helpful notes in the comments!
Emotes!
Everyone who enters a level into the competition will get the special "Rest in Pieces" Emote!
The creators of the levels we feature will get the "Good Luck, Have fun" Emote!
Any community members that write a helpful comment will get access to the "Everyone is a Winner when you have Fun" Emote. Please remember that not everyone will ask for feedback. If they do, they will put it in the description of their level. When you are writing a comment, describe what you think in more specific words than "good" or "bad". This will really help everyone get better at making levels that you enjoy!
As usual, it is OK if you want to work on your level with other people, or multiple levels as long as everyone's name is mentioned in the description.
Please only submit levels that have been created after the start of this competition.
We have updated our multiplayer servers! While we hope that this will make them more stable, we have had to make a lot of changes to make them work on the new service, so we need your help to make sure they work properly!
But first, the best news... MORE SERVER REGIONS!
We have added US West, EU East and Asia East servers! These locations give players in those areas servers that are closer to them. Unfortunately we had to remove the Singapore server region but the Asia East server region will cover those people that used it and hopefully mean the matches have more people in them!
The full list of available regions is now:
Asia East
Australia
Brazil
EU East
EU West
Japan
US East
US West
Help us check the servers work for you!
We have tested these new servers as much as we can but multiplayer issues can be really specific to your local internet connection. We would love to know if the online performance of the game is better or worse for you.
If you encounter any of the below, please submit a bug report:
Does matchmaking not work for you?
Does your game get laggy when your ping is still low?
Does your co-op match crash after a long time?
You can send us a bug report via email bugs@doborog.com or on our Discord in the #cddz-bug-reports chat. As always with bug reports, if you can send us a video of your problem, that makes it a lot easier for us to understand how to fix it!
We plan on continuing to improve the servers and matchmaking over time, so any feedback is super helpful. Thanks to all who have helped us make the game better with your bug reports and feedback so far!
We have seen lots of new people creating awesome Levels on the Steam Workshop and asking how to do things. This made us think that it would be great if there was an easy way to learn. Josh has been making short Tutorial videos on commonly asked questions so that you can start making fun levels faster.
The first three are here! Starting with the basic controls:
We discovered a crash on startup happening for all players playing in Brazilian Portuguese on Windows. Then we fixed it, and it should no longer crash!
The crash is also happening on Xbox, which will be hotfixed separately in the next few days.
Sorry about that! Let us know if you find any other issues!
