If you're new to Hunt: Showdown 1896, we have a great way to get started. There are discounts across Hunt: Showdown 1896. the DLCs and all our soundtracks (including The Devil's Match and The Sinners Songbook released last month).
We have a time limited offer in the Year of the Snake Edition which is only available until February 3rd.
Back in October, we shared details of upcoming hit validation and trade window improvements that went live with Update 2.2. Since the changes have been allowed to play out in a live environment, we wanted to circle back with an overview of the results and improvements observed so far. To recap, we adjusted the specific time limit for how long a player can still shoot or land a hit after death from 800 to 75 milliseconds. Our goal was to fine tune the system to create a fairer and more consistent ecosystem for everyone, prioritizing player reaction times over external factors like connection speed.
Now to the results:
Kill Trades VS Total Player Kills:
One of the key metrics we’ve been closely monitoring since rolling out the trade window adjustment is the percentage of kills that qualify as "Trade." A kill trade specifically occurs when two players eliminate each other within a specified window. This definition encompasses a variety of scenarios, from intentional gameplay mechanics like bleeding out or being taken down by a well-timed throwable, to the "bad trades" that have been a source of community concern.
Our data shows a clear and sustained decline in the percentage of kill trades since the update went live. In fact, the figure has effectively been halved compared to pre-update levels. This is a substantial improvement and highlights the tangible impact of the recent changes on gameplay dynamics. (Please note the large spike on December 12th is due to restricted data during server downtime as Update 2.2 was rolled out)
Hit Invalidations:
We also analyzed the percentage of hit invalidations with our 2.2 adjustments, which refers to the instances where a shot does not register as intended, which can significantly affect combat, outcomes, and player satisfaction. The goal with this change was to prevent hit validation from attacks made by players who were already marked as downed on the server.
As anticipated, we have been able to track a significant rise in the number of invalidated attacks following the update.
To better understand the context behind this, we went on to analyze the root causes of invalidations, both before and after the update. Before changes went live with 2.2, most invalidated hits stemmed from general timeouts. This meant a damage request took too long to reach the server, usually due to connectivity issues between the player and the server.
Following the update, we can see the landscape has changed significantly. The leading cause of invalidations is now projectile launch prevention. This occurs when a shot is rejected at the moment of launch because the shooter was already downed and beyond the 75 millisecond death threshold.
Conclusion:
By addressing community feedback and fine-tuning the mechanics contributing to unfair kill trades, we’ve made measurable progress in creating a more balanced and satisfying experience. We are always working to refine gameplay in Hunt, and we will continue to share updates and insights as we do. As always, we thank you for your feedback, and happy hunting!

Out from the ruins of the big top steps The Hyena, carrying the memory of his beloved friend. Armed with Lion's Roar (Centennial) and Banner Shot (Pax Trueshot), he's got one thing on his mind. Be sure not to get caught in his Warm Embrace (Concertina Bomb) or you may just find out.
As promised last week, we wanted to share some changes coming to our in-game voice chat. Communication is key when it comes to coordinated gameplay, and with these improvements we aim to streamline the VOIP experience, enhance clarity, and resolve some reported issues expressed within the community.
Team Communication Options
Team communication has been enhanced in Update 2.2 alongside Post Malone’s Murder Circus, with the inclusion of team chat in All/Proximity Chat. This change ensures that your voice will reach your teammates, wherever they are, providing seamless coordination during tense moments.
What will be improved in the upcoming 2.2.1 update?
Improved Mute and Toggle State Mechanics
We have improved the muted mic icon by no longer auto-hiding it. The icon now remains visible, giving you consistent feedback about your muted status at all times. The system now respects your mute settings from the options menu when you join a game or switch voice channels. This will ensure your settings in the menu match what happens in the game. A new 'Toggle' state has also been introduced, making it easier to differentiate between continuous voice activation and toggle modes. This functionality is accessible both in-game and in the menu. Your last toggle state will also now be stored as an attribute, which means your prior preference will be reinstated when joining a new Mission.Â
Bug Fixes for a Smoother Experience
We have also introduced several VOIP bug fixes that will contribute to an overall smoother and more responsive chat system, including:
Fixed an issue where the muted team voice input option wasn’t being respected in the menu, which could lead to logic problems inside the new communication system.
Resolved a bug where the Vivox push-to-talk state was incorrectly set to active upon game launch on PC.
Addressed a stalling issue caused by the Mute All option state being saved to a file during gameplay input.
These updates are designed to improve your communication options and make it easier to stay connected with your teammates during every Mission. We hope these changes will make the VOIP system a more reliable and easier to use experience, ensuring your voice is heard (or silenced) exactly how and when you intend.
Stay tuned for more updates, and as always, thank you for your feedback! It’s your input that drives these improvements and helps us make Hunt: Showdown 1896 the best experience possible.
To kick off 2025, we wanted to share a little more insight into what we have planned for the start of the year. We will be beginning by focusing on quality-of-life improvements and bug fixing as we look to improve the overall gameplay experience of Hunt. New events will be coming, but the core of these updates will center around performance improvements rather than tons of new content.
We have looked at some of the most severe bugs that currently exist, along with some of the most frequently reported, and more. While this is far from an exhaustive list of everything coming, here’s a brief list of just some of key fixes that you can expect for early 2025:
Gameplay Bugs
Fixed various crashes and freezes that occasionally occurred during gameplay, as well as when loading in and out of a mission.
Fixed an issue where Player A could appear to be killed by Player B even after Player B was already visually dead.
Fixed an issue where players could potentially leave map boundaries, possibly by using vaulting.
Fixed an issue where the Poison effect could remain stuck on the player.
Fixed a problem where compounds occasionally seemed to be dominated by a single special AI type.
Fixed locations where players could become soft-locked or access unintended locations.
Fixed an issue where the Spider could fall through the floor or terrain upon death.
Fixed an issue where Assassin clones were sometimes not visible.
Fixed an issue where fire or bleed effects would continue when switching from healing with a first aid kit or syringe to stopping the effect with the 'F' key.
Weapons and Equipment
Fixed an issue where bullets were not visible during the reload animation of the 1865 Carbine when using default ammunition.
Fixed an issue with ammo switching on dual pistols that caused mixed ammo, firing issues, or broken reloads.
Fixed an issue with the Avtomat where the fire rate was incorrect, third-person audio was broken, and bullets were loading at the wrong time.
Fixed various issues with hunters and equipment skipping.
Fixed an exploit where the hand crossbow with a revive bolt, combined with precise timing, allowed players to self-revive.
Fixed an issue where throwing a lantern during the extinguishing animation caused the player to get stuck, preventing sprinting, vaulting, and item usage.
Fixed an issue where some traps, consumables, and tools didn't count toward the "deal damage with traps/consumables" progress.
Hunter and Prestige Systems
Fixed an issue where hunters could not be equipped or changed after prestiging following a server crash.
Fixed an issue where clicking the 'YES' button multiple times quickly in the confirmation popup could dismiss two hunters at once.
Fixed an issue where forcefully disconnected users could no longer change their hunter or equipment.
Fixed an issue where some prestige levels only mentioned a 'random skin', where users could actually choose from multiple rewards.
User Interface
Fixed an issue where all scopes were misaligned during the first ADS with a centered crosshair position.
Fixed an issue where slots in the Free Hunter Recruits screen and Loadouts screen displayed static names.
Fixed an issue where weapons and hunters would remain on the screen and overlap when switching between menu tabs.
(Please note that this is only an insight as to what we will be fixing in early 2025, we may not have exact timelines for every fix just yet)
We are also aware of growing concerns around voice chat bugs, and with this mind we have a range of fixes coming in 2.2.1 due for release in the next few weeks. We will be sharing a blog early next week with more details on these changes.
We want to extend our heartfelt thanks to you all for the support through our biggest events, updates and launches that came throughout 2024. Your feedback, patience and support have been invaluable as we continue to improve and grow the world of Hunt.
Looking forward, 2025 will be another exciting year. The team have been hard at work on updates, quality of life improvements and some exciting new features that we’re looking forward to sharing more on over the coming weeks and months!
