Dear Players,

the time has come for our big, “Quattro Formaggi” update. After several updates and testings on our “Preview” beta branch, we now roll out all additions and changes to all players as well as adding some new features and content. This update is based on four pillars: First, achieving better playing experience by including comfort features and reworking parts of the UI. Next, we overhauled our employee system, so employees have motivation and health you need to take care of, while also giving you the ability to let your workforce work overtime. Furthermore we worked on better long term motivation, giving you game events and catastrophes that might trigger in the free game. Last but not least we added a bunch of new content including several new dynamic missions, which are optional missions you can solve in the free mode of the game, as well as a plethora of new furniture assets including seasonal summer content, an aquarium, a flipper and plenty of other stuff.

While playtesting we encountered some bugs and balancing issues as seen in the “Known Issues” section but we want to give you the update as soon as possible and decided for patching said issues as soon as possible.

This is only a short summary of all the changes, for more detail checkout the changelog below:

Changes

General
  • Cooks now have a visual effect when baking a pizza.
  • A new citizen thought was added: Citizen wants to enter the restaurant but it is closed.
  • Graph handling in charts has been improved for the player.
  • The warning that an employee has already worked today has been removed from the schedule in the restaurant inspector as it is no longer necessary.
  • The comment stream in the bakery has been improved and now uses visual indicators to quickly tell if the comment is positive, negative or average.
  • The chef user interface in the bakery now has the same citizen type selected as the smartphone when opened.

  • Added a simple achievement overview in the main menu to keep track of achievement progress and giving a shortcut to Steam’s achievement overview.

  • The campaign info screen in the bakery has been moved to the bottom of the screen.
  • The size of citizen thought icons now stays the same on all zoom factors. This enables a better overview when being zoomed in.
  • The eating of pizzas is now visualized. Pizzas also lie on plates now.

Feature: Game Events & Taste Change
  • Players can now enable game events in free mode. Based on a chance set by the player the game will trigger several events that will challenge the player e.g. by ingredients that can’t be delivered. Game events are disabled for the campaign.

Feature: Employees
  • Employees can now be trained in the inspector or in the manager to increase quality and speed attributes. Only one attribute can be improved at once. Employees work at half quality and half speed while being trained.
  • Employees now have a motivation attribute that decreases for all employees of a currently working shift if a guest leaves before receiving a pizza and vice versa. Motivation increases while an employee is at home. Low motivation reduces quality and speed of an employee.

Balancing
  • Motivation and health decrease have been tweaked to be less hard.
  • Increased the restaurant storage capacity to 200 kg per shelf.
  • Changing the ‘Pizzas per guest’-value in freemode now also affects the capacity of the restaurant storage, the warehouse storage and the suppliers.

Bug fixes

General
  • Graphs in charts should no longer reactivate if a chart is updated and graphs were hidden by the player.
  • Repositioned a hydrant standing on the street in Rome.
  • The pizza cart restock button no longer increases in costs with each time the inspector is opened.
  • Fixed a bug where employees wouldn’t return to work if they went on sick-leave after 30 days of play time.
  • Fixed a bug where employees were working from inside of their apartment, which kept the restaurant open for 24 hours.
  • The notification that informs the player about empty storage of the pizza cart should no longer be triggered multiple times.
  • Fired mascots are now removed properly from the minimap.
  • Players can again switch between restaurants in the restaurant balance.
  • A bug that prevented triggering achievements when finishing a game in Berlin or Madrid has been fixed.
  • The first brand achievement is now triggered correctly after creating a new brand and doesn’t check if the game is in first start mode anymore.
  • The restaurant storage effect for bad ingredient quality has been fixed and should look as intended again.
  • The employee inspector now updates correctly when a selected employee is fired.

Known issues
  • The campaign currently lacks explanation for the new employee features.
  • Carpets can currently be placed through walls.
  • Cornered room dividers can currently be placed into tables.
  • Sometimes the player doesn’t get a initial restaurant branch in free mode even if the checkbox is set.

Pizza Connection 3 - Trymops
Hello and welcome to our second roadmap entry for Pizza Connection 3,

after the release of the changes we planned with our last roadmap into the preview branch it’s time to share with you the next steps we’d like to take. While the last patch mainly brought improvements for the employee system, focussing on more micro-management and enhancing the game’s depth, we now want to work on continuously challenging the player within a game session.

Long Term Challenge
In the current state of the game, the player is only challenged at the beginning of a game round. Once he discovered the preferences of a city he only has to combine them the right way to make his restaurant chain successful in the long run. After that, only sabotage can become a threat. This will change with the next major update.

Variation of Favorite Ingredients
Favourite ingredients are currently only assigned at the beginning of a game round and remain unchanged from then on. All the player has to do is find them out and gradually distribute them on his pizzas. With the next major expansion, citizens are constantly looking for new favorite ingredients. No pizza lasts forever!

Variation of Tastes
Likewise, the tastes of the individual target groups should change continuously, without becoming unfair or creating too extreme taste constellations. In certain time intervals the taste of a random citizen type should therefore be changed in a controlled manner in order to persuade the player to rethink and react.

Catastrophes
In order to make the player face new economic challenges, the game should repeatedly trigger serious events. These influence, for example, the availability of certain product groups, cause employees to become ill or goods to deteriorate. These events are supposed to occur irregularly. In free play, the player should be able to decide for himself whether he wants to play with or without catastrophes.

Random side missions
Free play mode currently offers few additional challenges. In essence, you only try to achieve the goals you have set yourself. During the game there is only a small selection of side missions that you can accept as an additional source of income. We want to change that. Here we already have some missions planned which we want to implement in the coming weeks. These are humorous, sometimes bizarre assignments that can be completed optionally to the global game goals.

after several beta (“Preview”) updates, we now update the main, default version of the game. The Calzone update includes all fixes and feature updates from our “Preview” - Beta releases from 29th of March - 16th of April. It includes lots of bug fixes, changes to supply management as well as usability enhancements.

  • Balancing: The price preferences of each target group have been adjusted to achieve a more realistic result. This also slightly increased the difficulty of the game as a whole.

  • Guests who would like to order a pizza that cannot be baked at the moment, because ingredients are missing, choose the next best pizza from the menu as long as it meets a minimum rating.
  • The warning triangle for too many different ingredients on the menu card is now disabled as it was misleading.
  • The output for the available stock on the menu card is now marked red and shows a tooltip if the ingredients for a pizza cannot be delivered because the stock is already full. This is particularly important when a new pizza is placed on the menu while the restaurant is running.

  • The capacity of warehouses has been increased.

Steam Cloud
  • Saved games are now stored cross-platform in the cloud. This means that game progress is transferred to the cloud no matter which platform you are on. Prior to this change, savegames were only stored per operating system in the cloud.
  • Saves are now also stored in SteamOS / Linux in the cloud

Corrupt game data
  • The game informs the player about corrupt game data and returns it to the main menu when trying to load it instead of getting stuck in the loading screen.

File system
  • When saving various game data, the previous versions are backed up.
  • If game data should not be readable by the file system, either the backup files are accessed or the data is to be reconstructed

Pizza Cart
  • The pizza cart restocks its ingredients only shortly before opening automatically.
  • The player can restock the pizza cart actively by paying a small fee.
  • The supply tab in the pizza cart user interface now contains a note on how restocking works.
  • Balancing: The capacity of the pizza cart has been increased from 100kg to 200kg
  • The pizza cart will display when the storage is refilled.

General
  • Cooks should work reliably again now.
  • The “Ich bin ein Berliner!” achievement was changed. Since there are no missions in the campaign with Berlin, the achievement could never be unlocked. This was fixed. The achievement is now tied to winning a free game in Berlin.
  • Warehouses are no longer restocked when the vendor is changed.
  • Warehouses only restock on start of each day or when they are rented.
  • Fixed a NavMesh issue in Sydney that caused everyone in Chapter 6 of the campaign to be stuck in a building.
  • The Washington Opera now has correctly placed entrances.
  • The target groups comments in the bakery now also react when the profit margin is changed.
  • Camera shakers have been fixed. In particular, turning off the option 'invert camera rotation' should not cause any problems.
  • The camera rotation speed, set in the options menu, will no longer be reset at game start
  • Problems with the placement preview in the architect have been fixed.
  • Other issues that cause guests not to be served correctly at high speed have been resolved.
  • The "thumbs up" icon is now correctly colored in the player color when guests go to a restaurant
  • Problems with placing chairs in some restaurant layouts have been resolved.
  • Warehouse staff now provide the correct number of ingredients.

Hello and welcome to our first roadmap entry for Pizza Connection 3,

it’s not a secret that many players - and maybe you too - were disappointed by Pizza Connection 3 shortly after the release. Bugs, a lack of explanation and missing depth were the most serious matters we emerged from your feedback. These points are exactly the things we want to improve as far as possible in the months April and May in freely available updates. To this end, we want to share with you an up-to-date view of the module we are currently working on

We want to start our roadmap with a central aspect of the game, the employees!

Employees - The next big thing
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The employees offer great potential for improvement. This is not just about making the existing system more understandable and functional, but about real expansion. The aim is to create more game depth and long-term motivation. Altogether, employee management should no longer just be about "setting bars", as one player in our community has aptly described it.

Fundamental bugs
We have received some reports that employees do not come to work or come to work too late. We must resolve these problems before we can make any other changes.

Working times

The current 6-hour system should be replaced with longer shifts or even freely adjustable shifts.

Service employees

In order to give more meaning to the individual values of the employees, we want to implement in a first step that the friendliness of service staff influences the patience of the guests. If a service employee is unfriendly, the waiting time that a guest would accept is shortened.

Prioritization of guests

In order for the player to be able to actively take part in the restaurant activities he should be able to send service employees to certain guests. As an example, this mechanic could be used to improve the rating for waiting times.

Training

Employees should be trainable to improve their basic attributes.

Health

Every employee should have a health value. The longer an employee works, the worse he feels. In case of poor health employees have to take a day off to recover.

Motivation

Every employee should have a motivational value. This value is calculated on the two basic attributes (quality and speed). If fully motivated, the basic attributes correspond to their actual values, if not motivated, they are only half as high.

Patch 1.0.6657.21509 - Patch Notes 29th of March

- Overwritten savegames can now be deleted and no longer lead to a stoppage in the loading screen when attempting to load them.
- Burnt pizzas, due to bad cooks, are now visually more recognizable.
- Employees should be able to be fired reliably in the manager.
- Delivery boys should not run on the spot when they are released
- Limiting the salary of the hired employee in Chapter 2 of the campaign now makes more sense
- Pizzas no longer float above the sink of the ovens
- Researches that have been unlocked are now reliably colored.
- Players can no longer start a $ 0 marketing campaign.
- The minimum number of citizens for "free play" has been increased to 500.
- The interior designer should no longer prevent the placement of stoves
- Beta players should now be able to play beyond Chapter 5 in the campaign.
- In Chapter 8 of the campaign, the player is now properly informed how much money is deducted to help his aunt.

- OpenGL has been added as an alternative graphics interface for Windows. This solves problems for users where DirectX is not installed properly.
- In Chapter 8 of the Campaign, the enemy no longer repairs their restaurants so the sabotage mission can be created for players.
- In Chapter 6, London: The player must now specify the English name of the pizzas, instead of the translated version. In Chinese or Russian, the name is still translated.
- Ovens should be rotatable in Architect mode again.
- Opponents can now repair furniture
- The position of furniture is now correct in the future when loading an old game, even if the scene was subsequently changed.

- User data, such as savegames or campaign progress could be damaged. Corrupted files caused players to get stuck in a black screen when loading the next time, they load the program. User data is now backed up with a backup system. If damaged files still exist, an attempt is made to return the data to an original state or to reconstruct the state from other data.
- In free game, the first research level is automatically unlocked. This allows players immediate basic functions such as the rental of department stores. However, the player can still set the research level to 0 in the free game setting to play the game as in the tutorial.
- Problems with higher game speed have been resolved. The speed of play should have no effect on the efficiency of the employees or the "check-in rate" of the residents.
- Suppliers and delivery service should no longer get stuck near buildings.
- Several locations of restaurants in Rome have been adjusted so that guests can find a way to the restaurant.
- The warehouse of a restaurant now has an interface overlay in the game world, which indicates the warehouse utilization and opens the warehouse manager by clicking
- The question of whether a person wants to cross a street has been improved to prevent people who do not want to cross the street being detained.
- Customers now have a visual wait display
- Fired cooks and waiters are no longer teleported out of the restaurant but leave the restaurant through the door

workarounds

Black screen

- Some users could not start the game after some time or just saw a black screen. The Problem was faulty user data. In some threads we recommended deleting user data manually. That should not be necessary anymore.

- For users where the game has never worked and who always had a black screen when loading, there is now a possible workaround by changing the graphics interface.

workarounds

Black screen

- Some users could not start the game after some time or just saw a black screen. The Problem was faulty user data. In some threads we recommended deleting user data manually. That should not be necessary anymore.

- For users where the game has never worked and who always had a black screen when loading, there is now a possible workaround by changing the graphics interface.

3. Change to the "General" tab
4. Click on "set launch options…"
5. Enter -force-glcore in the input field and click on OK

Previous savegames in this branch might not be working anymore.
