This update is primary a bunch of fixes and general improvements. Development has started on the outer islands, but its still early work in progress.

An addition to the cinematic graphics quality settings is option to turn on 'Distance Field Ambient Occlusion'. Normally we use a cheaper method, but this does add a little bit more detail to things at the cost of some performance. This will be a considerable performance drop when paired with other Cinematic quality options however.

We've also added a new Raider kit for the Raptor buggy on item store.

This update brings a significant rework to the homes and clubs, plus introduces a bunch of new drivable vehicles.

A significant change to how homes work is that ownership will now be persistent, per server, based on various factors saved after the player logs off. These factors focus on a player’s overall play time, meaning that someone who has only played the game for a few hours will still “unclaim” virtually instantaneously, as before when they leave. Players who’ve played tens, hundreds, or thousands of hours will see their house remain for an extended period before they are unclaimed.

On the vehicle front we’ve introduced 2 new drivable boats and 2 new buggy's, with the new boats being considerably larger than our previous offerings. These new boats are each capable of carrying a large group of people around. The pontoon boat in particular has an open deck design so you have room to dance, essentially giving you a moving dance club. The vehicles, as a whole, will now be able to play music. Dances have been tweaked so they will work on a moving vehicle.

There are many more changes and additions in this update, which can be found in the patch notes below. Be sure to check out the item store for all the new vehicle kits and accessories added in this update.

Patch Notes:

Customization
  • Added rework of all buggy frame materials, including various quality improvements as well as a new paint look. Previous paint variant options have been removed.
  • Added improvements to the Raptor buggy: the hood is now a separate, customizable piece in the editor (under “front”). This is a step towards hood kit modifications for this vehicle.
  • Added Shorts for female character.
  • Added Lacework Camisole and Crop Top variants. These use a new unique simple pattern due to the difference in material detail.
  • Added rework to improve the quality of the perforated Camisole variant.
  • Added Hood Ornaments slot to ground vehicles. Hood Ornaments can be found in the item store.
  • Added “Front”, “Back”, “Top”, and “Sides” slots to ground vehicles. These will be utilized for various vehicle kits found in the item store.
  • Fixed issues relating to alpha on male and female flippers.

Environment
  • Added improvements to interior lighting, so things like the ceilings of homes do not have such dark shading.
  • Added additional homes, pathways, and general improvements to Katara area including secondary boat docks to serve houses.
  • Added additional homes and general improvements to Hianga.
  • Added a rework of a road near the Mataara motel so players can reach the vehicle jump from both directions. The blue water tower has been removed, but detail has been added along the road.
  • Added new docks and paths to Pitonga area.
  • Added revisions to ramps at Rohai to make them easier to drive up.
  • Added revisions to main jump ramp at Hianga to make it easier to drive up.
  • Added additional dirt between the motel at Mataara and a dirt road next to the nearby race course.
  • Added a new spawn area for Whakaoma.
  • Fixed an issue relating to the size of area volumes near Pitonga.
  • Fixed part of a chainlink fence post that didn’t have correct material.
  • Fixed placement of various foliage and props around Mataara.
  • Fixed lighting at the club at Mataara, adding a bit more light in places where the dance area was pretty dark at night near the front.
  • Fixed a tunnel that had minor rock clipping through one point.
  • Fixed culling distances on lamps in Mataara tunnel.
  • Fixed culling distances on various street clutter.
  • Fixed some road decals spilling over onto vehicles.
  • Fixed some unsmooth roads near Hianga.
  • Fixed beach area smoothness near Pitonga.

General
  • Added Pontoon party boat. This open-deck boat features room for dancing on.
  • Added Mako deck boat, a large motorboat featuring a pair of sofa-like seats, and other chairs to let you transport yourself and up to 7 friends as passengers.
  • Added Enforcer buggy, a 2 seater which is slightly smaller than existing buggies.
  • Added Dragonfly buggy, another 2 seater using the new shorter frame length type.
  • Added reworked selection of homes, now featuring outside areas. Each house includes a patio and garden area.
  • Added new camps. These temporarily claimed locations feature a place you can, sit, dance, and customize.
  • Added improved support for playing YouTube videos. Media interface will now accept any YouTube url. Limitations still exist in the form of restrictions beyond our control e.g. region, or restrictions on embedding/mobile.
  • Added persistent homes system, so houses will now persist as a player’s sole possession for a measured amount of time (based on a player’s playtime) when they leave a server. This does not apply to clubs or the new camps.
Playing 24 hours will equal a 3-day window, 100 hours will equal 7 days, 1000 hours 14 days, and 2000 hours will equal 28 days. Given there is a finite number of homes on the Capsa map, this feature is designed for players with considerable playtime who frequently return in mind. Any new player who plays for an hour or so and leaves will have their home “unclaim” virtually right away. There is a 30-minute window added so players don’t lose their stuff if they need to restart or disconnect. As before, the home data is saved and if the player has to reclaim a home, or wants to choose another, all the customization is carried across.
  • Added revised sit animations, with improved blending between poses.
  • Added improvements to ground sit handling, so when a player sits on a moving vehicle, e.g. a boat, they can inherit the rotation and location of the boat, and travel with it.
  • Added revised dance animations, with improved blending when switching dances. Most of these have been adjusted to be better suited within confined spaces, e.g. dancing on boats.
  • Added considerable texture memory optimizations, which will also reduce installation by around 5 GB.
  • Added changes to how connection and spawning is handled, players will now connect to a server first and then select where to spawn. This is to allow the player to locate their claims on the server and be able to choose to spawn at their home for example.
  • Added improvements to the mounting of vehicles, particularly boats. The range will now extend further down below the boat to aid people who had issue transitioning from swimming to the boat previously.
  • Added improvements to how players interact with vehicles or things to sit on. This now scans the world around the player at point of interaction, rather than previously relying on collision. This rules out any inconsistencies as a result of latency.
  • Added music players to all ground and water vehicles. Primarily this was done so players can now have their own party boats, especially with the larger boats we’ve added such as the Pontoon boat on which players can dance on its open deck, even while it’s in motion.
  • Added various performance optimizations relating to the LODs of all previous boats.
  • Added additional hull type for the Barracuda motorboat, featuring a different rear cone
  • Added a key to prevent camera resetting while it is held down, useful for taking screenshots.
  • Added a key to reset the camera immediately when pressed.
  • Added keys to select your next and previous media slots, as well as disable.
  • Added keys to control media volume and mute it.
  • Added chat media channel which will output information when using the keys to change volume or current media slot.
  • Added color preset system to all customization editors, this allows players to pick (where applicable and available) a preset color selection for the current pattern. players can then override these colors, so it can be a convenient start point to making their own customizations.
  • Added smoother vehicle replication, this will make the experience as a passenger of a vehicle under typical network conditions more fluid.
  • Added a send button to the chat window, this will behave identically to pressing enter in the chat.
  • Added animation improvements to the chat window to better fit elements.
  • Added chat tabs to the chat window, for now these are for default (everything), and a tab for local only (omits global chat).
  • Added item store promotion to loading screen, we’ll use this to show some featured and new items (because some users were unaware of new stuff or the item store’s existence).
  • Added improvements to server configuration, notably so that the country code which displays a flag on server list menu is obtained automatically.
  • Added updated steam controller configuration to feature various new functions such as the ability to quick reset camera.
  • Added various changes to existing achievements, firstly some home achievements and achievements relating to the cinema have been removed. This is because they are no longer relevant. The tiles will be available still, just on different achievements. Editor ‘time’ achievements have also been removed, and have instead been changed to be apply customization a number of times.
  • Added achievement for dancing with a crab.
  • Added improved dirt detail to the default buggy rims.
  • Fixed an issue when switching clothing in the character editor where pattern selection index was not reset to reflect newly picked clothing piece.

  • Fixed an issue where initial chat box was limited to the size of a message and could only be clicked on 2/3rds of it to enter the chat.
  • Fixed an issue with area volumes not being handled correctly, particularly the south end of Metarahi where there was a chance of receiving duplicate enter messages in chat.
  • Fixed an issue relating to how data tables are handled for mounts, which on rare occasion could result in loading the incorrect entry via combo boxes. This is now aligned with all other vehicle types.

  • Fixed an issue where compass would move erratically while dancing.
  • Fixed an issue where “/me” didn’t appear to be replicating messages correctly.

Capsa - Vetron

This update introduces drivable motorboats, each featuring full customization and support for passengers. These boats work with the dynamic ocean mechanics, meaning you can experience varying wave heights at different locations and jump boats over waves. Also included in this update are three new areas and dozens of area improvements, a few of these are shown off below.

An additional significant improvement is a revised loading system, which in tests has shown initial game loading time reduced by 4.5x on average across various machines. It should be noted the first loading after a larger update will always be a bit slower (although still faster than before), but once shaders are compiled and everything is cached, secondary loadings (even after restarting the game) will be much quicker.
