Hey everyone,
We have fixed a few frequently-reported bugs from our last major patch. Thanks for your reports; please keep sending us them through our Steam discussions page or Discord.

FIXED:
  • Player can now properly swallow prey picked up whole
  • Text not appearing in the name input field on certain resolutions
  • Incorrect description for casual difficulty when first viewed
  • SubAdult Dakotaraptor AI can now move properly

ADDED:
  • Anti-aliasing toggle to graphics options

CHARLES W. GILMORE UPDATE

Hi everyone,

At long last, we’ve released the Gilmore update for Saurian. We are very excited to introduce several new features to the game, in addition to many changes and fixes which can be read below. We recommend starting a new save, as loaded games from previous versions may not work correctly. As per usual, please report any bugs or feedback to us on our Steam discussion pages or our Discord.

We have also released Vol. I of Saurian’s soundtrack, which can be purchased through Steam or through Bandcamp. All Kickstarter backers who pledged for it will receive their copy shortly.

We apologize for the many delays, and thank you for sticking with us until we could release this patch. The last couple of months have been full of unforeseeable complications for our team, and we do not intend to regularly spend so long on updates in the future. We consider ourselves so lucky to have such a supporting and understanding community, and we will continue to do all that we can to validate and earn the trust you’ve put in us.

  • Birds will no longer float after pausing the game.
  • Meat chunks will no longer duplicate while eating.
  • Chamops and Bone Butte Bird no longer glow in the dark.
  • Dakotaraptor jaws no longer clip when dropping food.
  • AI will no longer get stuck moving in circles around points of interest on land.
  • Player will no longer be stuck after successful RPR, causing tilted rotation on reload.
  • Player will no longer be able to eat Chamops, Bird whole at start of game.

  • Increased size of scent pool which should help fix the issue of animals not dropping scent nodes
  • Moved transition of saltwater to freshwater further west (Saltwater swamp is no longer
    partially freshwater)
  • Drastically reduced amount of mudstone texture on the map and has been visually updated
  • Removed trees from very steep slopes
  • Improved blending of terrain textures
  • Reduced penalty for using scent ability while moving
  • Meat chunks will roll far less on the ground
  • Maximum stomach fullness now scales linearly with bite size
  • Added shadow toggle to in-game video options menu
  • Animal footstep sounds will now change based on speed.
  • AI perception improved for all non-avian dinosaurs:
    • All now have hearing in addition to sight; visual ranges have been increased but sight cones have been narrowed.
    • All sensors are now sensitive to size differences; larger animals will have a harder time seeing/hearing smaller animals, and vice versa.
    • Audibility is also modified by movement speed, allowing for simple stealth gameplay
  • Blood removed temporarily due to performance issues. It will be back!
  • Players should no longer be able to spam the eat button, they now have to wait for the animation to finish.

  • Animals can now receive venom damage from Palaeosaniwa bites
