Hey Trailmakers! Welcome to the Rings of Fire update! We have some exciting new stuff in this update, such as the addition of a Sonic Boom effect when you travel faster than the speed of sound!
Combined with our performance enhancing update we released earlier this week, we hope you’re getting revved up for our first large content update coming at the start of March!
The Rings of Fire update will take Trailmakers from version 0.4.0.11398 to 0.4.1.11562.

We have added rings of fire around Sandbox Island. Take to the skies and see if you can fly through them all.
Wild chickens have appeared on Sandbox Island. There’s a reward for anyone who gets rid of them all.
You can now generate a Sonic Boom!
The Monument of pre-order names has been updated!
We’ve added support for many more resolutions!
UI
The Main Menu now shows the latest release notes, a countdown for the next update, the Weekly Challenge, refer-a-friend, and social links.
The Weekly Challenge is our way of putting your creative skills to the test. Every Friday, we will announce the Weekly Challenge on our Twitch & Mixer Stream as well as awarding the winner of the previous week.
The Refer-A-Friend promotion is now live. If you refer a friend to Trailmakers, and they buy the game after your referral, you will both receive the VIP Seat.
Added clickable icons which take you to our Twitch and Mixer pages!
Added a clickable icon to join our Discord and become part of the growing Trailmakers community! Share vehicles, get build ideas and receive help if you need it!
Blocks
Three new Accessory blocks for completing certain tasks on Sandbox Island…
New VIP seat for referring a friend!
Performance
Made some changes to the start up flow so the initial load into the game should be quicker.
Added support for many more resolutions!
Reverted back to the game not starting in Exclusive Fullscreen mode.

In preparation for a smaller content update later this week we’re releasing our performance boosting patch which features several improvements that should greatly improve the experience for players! We’ve also increased the CPU Complexity Limit in both Sandbox and Expedition mode, so players should now be able to build even larger things! Good timing for our first of many Weekly Challenges!
Read the full patch notes below, and stay tuned for another update coming later this week!
This will update Trailmakers from 0.4.0.10949 to 0.4.0.11398.
General
Added a Fullscreen toggle in the Preferences when accessed via the Main Menu!
We updated the placeholder zipline and plank models with finished ones!
Added a work in progress water splash when wheels are in water.
We’ve added a toggle for the GIF Recorder feature in preferences. If you’re experiencing performance issues, try turning it off and let us know if you notice a difference!
Transformation should be more sturdy! Transformation is still considered an Experimental feature, however!
We increased the CPU complexity limit in Sandbox Island and Expedition!
Updated the spinner on the initial loading screen. Again!
Tweaked the reverse camera setting so it activates and deactivates at a more appropriate time.
Added our own in game FPS counter rather than the default Unity one. It’s still F1 to display and turn it off.
First time players will now be able to choose which Game Mode they go into after customising their character. This should help people on lower spec machines as they can choose to just play Sandbox, which is less demanding than Expedition.
Expedition
We’ve repositioned some of the awkwardly placed Bolts in the Expedition. If you’ve already collected them, you won’t need to find them again.
Replaced a Hood Accessory in the cave on Jump Island with a different item. This was due to the same item being obtainable on Sandbox Island.
Sandbox
We removed the awkwardly placed rock in Sandbox. You know the one!
Blocks
Many blocks now have secondary colour tinting available!
Blocks now have much cooler physics when breaking away from your vehicle.
Blocks also have a new disintegration look.
Made our first steps towards customisable Suspsension! It’s currently labeled as Speed, but it’s Strength. The values that work are from 0 - 1.0. Give it a try!
Builder
Added a few more checks to Blueprints on import.
Performance
We’ve been looking into the RAM usage issues and we’ve made numerous changes to texture file sizes.
Made more steps towards eliminating the weird stuttering people on higher end machines have been seeing.
Improved how we handle memory usage when entering and leaving build mode.
Changed the sand particles, for the better!
The game will now by default play in Fullscreen Exclusive mode which should slightly improve performance for some players, and potentially reduce input lag. We’re going to add these options in game in a future update, but if you’d prefer to play in Borderless Windowed, or Exclusive Windowed this is still possible by entering these lines in the Steam Launch options for Trailmakers.
Fixed the cursed ziplines. Players should no longer be encroached by darkness and hear terrifying sounds. The camera is still a bit iffy when clipping through the zipline, however!
Fixed numerous localisation issues.
Fixed some platforms that you weren’t able to repair on.
Added a check when saving structures to try and prevent corrupt Blueprints.
Fixed an issue with the sliders in Preferences being finicky.
Fixed the cursed Roof Rack.
Numerous fixes in the background to protect against issues with respawn and builder flow.
Fixed a duplicated Accessory being placed in Expedition which was also in Sandbox. (The Hood in the low cave, on Jump Island).
Fixed the block description hover box not appearing.

To opt in simply right click Trailmakers, go to Properties and then the Betas tab. Select “upcoming - Experimental build of upcoming release” and Steam will download this update.
This will update Trailmakers from 0.4.0.11167 to 0.4.0.11331.
Opting out is the same process, except you just select “NONE” to return to the release version of Trailmakers.
Please note, to see and join multiplayer servers you’ll need to be playing on the same version!
