[Similar to the "[Season] region quests" which helped season characters with their progression, we've added the following region quests to normal servers to help our Adventurers continue their progression beyond season graduating.● Added region quests that are available in the following monster zones:
Drakania’s Awakening is finally released for all regions on July 27, 2022.Drakania Awakening – Primary Skills
Unlike other classes, we began developing her Awakening after her Succession. This was rather a bold and new decision on our end, and we are finally glad to be able to reveal the news of her release to all of our Adventurers who’ve waited with great anticipation. We hope you enjoy her Awakening form.
To go into greater detail regarding her development process, our primary focus was to introduce new combat mechanics that allow Drakania to perform quite differently in Awakening compared to her Succession. Since she is dual-wielding spears, we wanted her movements to feel more primal, and we focused on a “stance dancing” mechanic that emphasized manual control of the class with precise timing of skills.
Drakania’s Hexeblood form is focused on swift and relentless attacks that chain together to overwhelm opponents, while Dragonblood is a more heavy-hitting form. You may initially feel slightly overwhelmed by the different variations of certain skills available in both forms. The basic animations for the skills are similar, so we felt that once Adventurers grow accustomed to these differences. Along with the “stance dancing” mechanic (which can also automatically activate after certain skills), we will see more and more Drakania Adventurers maneuver between forms with relative ease. (Of course, since her Awakening was designed to be so conceptually different from previous classes, we do expect it will take some time for Adventurers to get used to as it may appear very complex at first glance. We hope you’ll take the time to see her true ability shine.)
Thank you.
Mad Scientist Marni's latest invention is already making waves, literally. Introducing, the "Marniwave!"● Added the Marniwave, a music player for listening to a variety of background music in Black Desert.
The Marniwave is our answer to all the feedback we received requesting for music to listen to while mounted. Now Adventurers will be able to turn on the Marniwave while riding most mounts (including ships) and choose from a variety of music to best match your tastes. You can also set the Marniwave to turn on automatically each time you mount up as well. The music channels of the Marniwave include Adventurer-favorite "horse music" along with several new additions. We plan on adding more and more songs to these channels in future updates.
While adventuring out in the world of Black Desert, you will come across a diverse range of locations that can be wonderous or frightening, warm or freezing cold. At times, thunder and lightning strikes, warning of the imminent rain soon to come. We hope that the addition of the Marniwave will compliment those unique moments so they can be better savored by our Adventurers. Thank you.
Family Fame constitutes of a daily Silver reward that grows as you continue your adventure in the world of Black Desert by increasing your combat prowess, life skills, knowledge (energy), and contribution points.● Increased the amount of Silver obtained daily via in-game mail from your Family Fame.
Thanks to the past update where we increased the Item Drop Rate buff granted by your Family Fame, a greater number of Adventurers showed interest in Family Fame. Considering the current state of game balance, we decided to increase the funds rewarded by Family Fame, particularly to increase in greater numbers in lower levels.
We seek to change how you can obtain Mythical Feathers. First off, we will be removing the complicated means of obtaining them from the Old Moon Grand Prix and adding a new weekly quest to obtain them instead. We also increased the amount of Royal Fern Roots, which are used to craft Mythical Powders, obtained through daily quests as well.● Added the following weekly quests where you can get Stonetail Horse Ranch essentials from Wapra at Stonetail Horse Ranch.
Mythical Arduanatt and Mythical Diné were originally designed as slightly difficult and challenging content not everyone could attempt at once. While most Adventurers were understanding of this intention, we've still received much feedback regarding the higher level of difficulty. We admit that we took a bit of time to find the right response, but we promise to keep looking for additional ways for our Adventurers to better obtain all relevant materials (including Royal Fern Roots).
Thanks to the persistent requests of some of our Adventurers, you can now earn the once season-exclusive title "Island Hopper." We've added a tale of Lorenzo Murray's unrequited love. We hope this questline helps cool down the warm summer heat, as it will take you through the refreshing views along the waters of the coast.● Added a new questline to obtain the "Island Hopper" title once exclusively awarded by completing "[Season] Great Pioneer's Footsteps."
We have added a Location Snapshot function to the World Map to make it more convenient for adventurers who frequently reference certain locations on their map. In particular, it can be useful when browsing information displayed on the World Map outside of major cities such as Bartering or Node Management sites. We hope this minor improvement will make a meaningful impact on your experience.● Added a function which you can snapshot your favorite locations on the World Map and easily pan the camera to them.
As various classes and regions have been released, the world of Black Desert has grown much broader. To make it easier for Adventurers to check the locations of items wherever they may be in the world, we have added the “Find My Item” function.● Added the Find My Item function.
This function allows Adventurers to simultaneously search across their Family’s Storage, Central Market warehouse, inventories, equipped gear, etc. all at once.
This function can be found from the ESC menu or with the search button in your Storage. We hope this adds convenience to your adventures.
Today's update brings about several changes to Hashshin for PvP. The main reason for this was to strengthen the unique traits of his Succession.● Hourglass of Defiance (I to III)
First off, we've bolstered the "assassin"-like PvP playstyle which utilizes sand tornados. We added a Succession-only version of Hourglass of Defiance, and Arid Assault will now automatically save your character's current location whenever it's used, thus allowing you to return to the saved location by pressing the F key. (You will still be able to manually save the return location as before as well.) Also, whenever you return to a saved location, you will activate Rupture's explosive damage, and using Arid Assault will create sand tornados in the location the skill was used, creating more opportunities to confuse your foes.
We've also administered slight changes to his defensive effects as well.
First, Prime: Dune Slash attacks no longer apply the Forward Guard effect, which was moved to now apply before the attack motion of the more popular Prime: Aal's Dominion. Quicksand's last attack will now only apply the Knockdown effect for PvE, while Piercing Tornado will now gain the Super Armor effect during use, thus allowing for safer openings with the skill. Chosen Blade will no longer apply Stiffness but also gains Super Armor to help create safer combo opportunities.
Lastly, we've applied changes to dealing and taking damage.
Hashashin was, on average, the class with the lowest damage ratio compared to other classes. Therefore, the better geared you were, the sturdier you became thanks to Evasion Rate increase buffs from skills (Sand Warp) and passives. This made us very wary of increasing Hashashin's AP or Accuracy altogether. However, many of our Hashashin Adventurers gave us vocal feedback to improve the class's offensive capabilities, so we decided to make adjustments accordingly. In conclusion, what we came up with was to amplify the Hashashin's utility via the sand tornado mechanic, improve some of his defensive effects and PvP damage, and in return, the Hashashin's incoming damage ratio taken when attacked by other classes was increased by approximately 3.25% on average.
We’ve added a chance of obtaining greater amounts of loot when Gathering.● Added items to obtain Fairy Breath through Lumbering, Skinning, Extracting, Hoe, Mining, Water Scooping, Butchering.
You can now gain additional “Fairy’s Breath” from Gathering loot which can be exchanged for Contribution or Gathering EXP, like Cooking or Alchemy Byproducts, or for Hard Black Crystal Shards or Sharp Black Crystal Shards.
Additionally, you may stumble upon buried chests while Gathering which you can open with a Gold Key to obtain additional loot.
Oh, right! The Gold Bars!● Changed the item that is needed when you receive a buff of 120 minutes that can be obtained by exchanging a gold bar to an NPC.
Gold Bar buffs have already been improved once in the previous update. Even now, the act of handing over the Gold Bar to receive the buff was symbolic, like a ritual to receive a blessing.
In this update, we have changed so that adventurers can receive blessings directly with Silver for greater convenience.
But... what would you like this buff to be called?
The Gold Buff of the Ol' Days? The Shiny Silver Buff? We look forward to your awesome ideas.
The Track Monster function can be used to obtain "Knowledge" among other thing. However, creatures could only be tracked individually or by category until now. We have improved it so that up to 20 creatures can be selected for simultaneous tracking. We hope this makes the feature more useful for our Adventurers.● Applied the following changes to Track Monsters function in Knowledge (H):
To celebrate Black Desert being serviced in all regions, your longtime companion, the Black Spirit, has prepared a special gift for the occasion with the "Blood-eyed Visor" and "Blood-eyed Earrings!"● Added Event quests available through the Black Spirit (/) to obtain the "Blood-eyed Visor" and "Blood-eyed Earrings."
We'd like to thank all of our Adventurers for enjoying Black Desert.
"The Ynix.
A flame that can consume even the gods...
How much of its overflowing power can a mere mortal bear?
O daughter of mine.
greed is the source of wrath...
And that flame which fuels it must be extinguished.
Only then will the long-lost paradise of dragons return."
Paradise.
A place so unattainable, it may as well not have existed.
Heeding the deep and somber voice,
I walked, and I walked, along an endless cliffside path,
gathering bones upon bones of my fallen kin.
On this path bereft of color and life, I often wished to hurl myself off its edge,
soaring triumphantly into the sky, a reminder I yet lived, however...
"Unfurling your wings means death.
For that brutal tyrant still reigns the skies."
Whenever such thoughts came to me, they echoed in a voice not my own,
an unsought and unchecked edict.
Fettered wings are nothing more than a blight upon one’s back.
.
.
.
For so long, Dragons were pinned beneath the tyrant’s claw,
until a voice, steeped in malevolence, called out from that bitter path’s end:
"Build your paradise upon my body.
With my death, I will usher in the ruination of the golden mountain."
A shriek rang out, and a brilliant ray of light, puncturing a small hole,
like the pupil of an eye, in the barrier that marked this bitter path’s end.
The aperture dilated, growing brighter as the barrier crumbled away.
Someone was waiting there, with arms outstretched.
Was she the one who led us here?
My heart pounded with excitement...
"Come, frail Dragon offspring."
The air was thick with the stench of blood that flowed from her jaws, torn to the ear.
It was the blood of my dead kin, interwoven with their resentment, their hatred, their tears;
The same kin I had tirelessly comforted.
Etched in this torrent of blood were the final memories of my kind.
Things I’ve never seen, heard, or experienced, but somehow, I was present in them all.
"I am the seventh witch of Eternal Winter, Erethea."
"Tell me, how many dragon hearts have been pierced by the power of erasure,
which could wash away even the fear of the one you claim a tyrant?"
Her body in tatters,
and through coughing fits of blood,
her hoarse voice pealed mirthfully at some unknown joy.
"Come. tear out my heart and consume it.
It’s been sweetened with the hatred of countless, fallen Dragons."
The witch’s laugher reignited the hunger within them.
No one asked why she chose this death.
Everyone sought to sate their thirst for vengeance.
The feast was a blur of teeth and sinew,
but when I came to my senses, I saw us reflected in her empty eyes.
In my mouth, I held her still-beating heart.
"It is done, child. My vengeance... will live on eternally."
Not a single scream had left her lips,
as the witch lay lifeless, seemingly mocking us with her grin.
Was it her defiance that only added to our anger?
My heart began to race uncontrollably.
“Take to the skies, by my heart's might.
Through your eyes shall I witness the golden mount's ruin.”
Now, with my wings no longer bound,
they slowly unfurl, as I gaze readily toward the edge.
The winds whirl against my skin, beckoning me beneath the blinding light.
Frustration, despair, and the faint allure of paradise tickle my nose.
"Proclaim defiantly, to the incarnation of Labreska, that a new era has dawned.
With the power of erasure, usher in the ruination of the golden mountain."
With the whispers of the being, black-winged like us, less one eye, still echoing in my head,
I stood at the cliff’s precipice with wings spread wide.
The moment of flight that had flashed countless times in my mind.
A burning thirst, ignited by the winds of freedom in the dazzling sky.
"Come. Start your flight of destruction, The lost paradise of the dragons awaits."
💬 Our combat direction for Awakening Drakania was developed around her wielding two spears. We chose this type of weapon as we felt that it would be the best match for her concept and story, giving Adventurer’s feeling of wielding a “dragon’s might.” Her combat style is largely divided into two styles, Hexeblood and Dragonblood. She can switch back and forth between both, and her combat style will differ depending on her state.
In her Hexeblood state, she wields two smaller spears to unleash a barrage of quick and agile attacks. When Drakania was released, we saw some feedback that while her concept was good, her slower speed was disappointing. That’s why we wanted to provide a more agile combat style with her Awakening in sharp contrast with her Succession.
On the other hand, her Dragonblood state emphasizes her draconic nature in the form of destructive power unlike the speed of her Hexeblood state. In this form, Drakania’s left-hand spear is transformed into a dragon’s massive horn, and her dragon aspect can be seen in her skills.
Differing from our existing classes, we started developing Awakening Drakania after the release of her Succession. As this was a new direction for us and with so many people eagerly waiting for its release, we’re thrilled to be able to present you with this announcement. We hope you enjoy it.
Thank you.
Special Barters were added to provide exciting opportunities through bartering. Therefore, we have updated the list of items and barters available via special barters to reinstill the excitement.
Bartering on Invernen Island and Delinghart Island was initially designed for the exchange of materials and luxury land goods. However, to better reflect the current state of Black Desert, we have decided to update the items available at these locations. We made Verdant Black Stones more accessible for Adventurers starting their ocean voyage, and adjusted bartering options for veteran sailors to make it easier to obtain higher grade enhancement materials as well as Crow Coins.
We improved Succession Maehwa to better utilize her Stamina and the Red Blade.Succession
Her previous iteration of the Red Blade was tied to using Prime: Decapitation, which made it difficult to activate the Red Blade at will. Now, when you now use Maehwa's Will with 2 Red Petals, you will gain an additional Red Petal, making it easier to activate the Red Blade. Blind Slash will now also spend WP instead of Stamina, which we felt would better benefit her combat prowess.
Lastly, while Maehwa: Ascension to Heaven did improve the cast time of Prime: Red Moon, we felt it somewhat lacking, especially since you couldn't combo into other skills until Prime: Red Moon's attack had ended. Now if you have learned Maehwa: Ascension to Heaven, you can now combo into Whirlwind Cut, Decapitation, and Prime: Petal Swirl during Prime: Red Moon, adding the option of quickly comboing into other skills after applying the skill's Floating debuff.
Awakening Maehwa was improved to deal critical damage at crucial moments, with a focus on the Petal Swirl skill. The skill's innate Accuracy buff has been reduced, but now using the skill will grant All Accuracy +15% for 10 seconds, thus making it a better skill to compliment others. (The Movement/Attack Speed and Evasion reduction debuffs have also been removed, accordingly.) To make sure these changes would further complement other skills, we reduced the cooldown times of Moonrise, Flow: Cloud Stab, and Flow: Moonlight Dash, while also adding a Critical Hit Rate +25% buff (PvP only) to Flow: Frostflower. Finally, we changed Absolute: Red Moon so you can now use the skill with your awakening weapon, and its visual effects have been changed accordingly.
Righteous Smite's cast time and projectile speed were deliberately made slow due to its potential to inflict a large amount of damage with your greatbow. Therefore, we decided to further bolster that potential by increasing its damage in PvP. Marked Bloom was a skill without any defensive or debuff effects, so we decided to strengthen its concept as a powerful skill by adjusting the number of targets hit by it. Lastly, for Luthraghon's Call, we felt many Archers were left somewhat exposed once the Forward Guard effect while charging would end. Now Archers can cast this skill in peace, knowing that the Forward Guard effect will last even after you finish charging the skill.● Righteous Smite
Succession Sage is known to have an arsenal of skills with long cast times that inflict damage over a large area and apply debuffs such as DP and Evasion reduction on hits. However, such long cast times were being punished particularly in PvP. Thus, to increase the lethality of his skill hits, we increased his PvP damage for major skills such as Prime: Ator's Mark, Prime: Spatial Collapse, and Prime: Ator's Energy, as well as improving the efficiency of using Prime: Spatial Collapse, Prime: Ator's Mark, and Void Gateways with Rift Chain. Lastly, we added a visual effect to disguise the actual trajectory of the Sage when using Rift Chain, making it more difficult to predict his movements.Succession
Awakening Sage saw a similar change regarding his attack damage. Firstly, when comboing from Divine Executioner into Flow: Judgment, the previous version had the spear bolt attack thrown midair, smash attack, and the following spear bolt attack damage all around the same figures. We decided to bolster these numbers by increasing the number of targets hit by the 2nd (smash) attack, while still retaining the number of targets hit at the moment of the smash attack's initial contact, thus greatly increasing the lethal potential of this skill. In addition, for Lightning Prison, we decided to greatly increase its PvP damage to make it regarded as a powerful skill on its own. (However, do note that we felt the Critical Hit Rate +100% buff was excessive to restore.) Lastly, Spear Bolt previously only activated faster when used after Shock Relay, but it's now been improved to activate instantly after certain skills without any defensive effects, which we hope will grant a variety of new opening moves for our Sage Adventurers.
A wave of changes is coming in for Corsair in this week’s update.Succession
First off, the Succession mermaid skills previously had their defensive effect adjusted. In this update, additional changes were made for better adaptability in PvP situations.
Prime: Whirling Slash defensive effect was changed from “Super Armor while moving” to “Invincible -> Super Armor while moving” and Prime: Storming Gale was given the “Forward Guard during the skill” effect. We believe these changes will make her Succession combat a lot more flexible than before. Furthermore, the combo Prime: Wipe Out > Overflow was improved and the distance traveled with Prime: Mareca: Sea Stroll was increased to improve its approach capabilities.
As for her Awakening, we added a new skill called Tide-splitter Patraca. This skill was designed to be used when she is in need of a quick defense, so it has the effect “Invincible at the start of the skill.” It can then be comboed into Ocean Melancholy immediately after for additional protection.
Additionally, the Super Armor on Pirate's Life For Me was moved to Flow: Earth-render Patraca to improve ranged attacks. However, the damage of Pirate's Life For Me was increased to improve it in PvE.
Sycraia Underwater Ruins (Upper Zone) and Basilisk Den, monster zones that are not affected by Item Drop Rate buffs, were included in the treasure item drop event. Generally, Adventurers would use Item Drop Rate buffs to increase their chances in monster zones with treasure items, however, Sycraia Underwater Ruins (Upper Zone) and Basilisk Den were included as additional monster zones for Adventurers to go to.
During this event, the same treasure item was added to Sycraia Underwater Ruins (Upper Zone) as the one available in Crescent Shrine, while the Basilisk Den got the same one available in the Waragon Nest.
In the future, we plan to exclude Sycraia Underwater Ruins (Upper Zone) and Basilisk Den from treasure item drop events.
