"The Ynix.
A flame that can consume even the gods...
How much of its overflowing power can a mere mortal bear?
O daughter of mine.
greed is the source of wrath...
And that flame which fuels it must be extinguished.
Only then will the long-lost paradise of dragons return."
Paradise.
A place so unattainable, it may as well not have existed.
Heeding the deep and somber voice,
I walked, and I walked, along an endless cliffside path,
gathering bones upon bones of my fallen kin.
On this path bereft of color and life, I often wished to hurl myself off its edge,
soaring triumphantly into the sky, a reminder I yet lived, however...
"Unfurling your wings means death.
For that brutal tyrant still reigns the skies."
Whenever such thoughts came to me, they echoed in a voice not my own,
an unsought and unchecked edict.
Fettered wings are nothing more than a blight upon one’s back.
.
.
.
For so long, Dragons were pinned beneath the tyrant’s claw,
until a voice, steeped in malevolence, called out from that bitter path’s end:
"Build your paradise upon my body.
With my death, I will usher in the ruination of the golden mountain."
A shriek rang out, and a brilliant ray of light, puncturing a small hole,
like the pupil of an eye, in the barrier that marked this bitter path’s end.
The aperture dilated, growing brighter as the barrier crumbled away.
Someone was waiting there, with arms outstretched.
Was she the one who led us here?
My heart pounded with excitement...
"Come, frail Dragon offspring."
The air was thick with the stench of blood that flowed from her jaws, torn to the ear.
It was the blood of my dead kin, interwoven with their resentment, their hatred, their tears;
The same kin I had tirelessly comforted.
Etched in this torrent of blood were the final memories of my kind.
Things I’ve never seen, heard, or experienced, but somehow, I was present in them all.
"I am the seventh witch of Eternal Winter, Erethea."
"Tell me, how many dragon hearts have been pierced by the power of erasure,
which could wash away even the fear of the one you claim a tyrant?"
Her body in tatters,
and through coughing fits of blood,
her hoarse voice pealed mirthfully at some unknown joy.
"Come. tear out my heart and consume it.
It’s been sweetened with the hatred of countless, fallen Dragons."
The witch’s laugher reignited the hunger within them.
No one asked why she chose this death.
Everyone sought to sate their thirst for vengeance.
The feast was a blur of teeth and sinew,
but when I came to my senses, I saw us reflected in her empty eyes.
In my mouth, I held her still-beating heart.
"It is done, child. My vengeance... will live on eternally."
Not a single scream had left her lips,
as the witch lay lifeless, seemingly mocking us with her grin.
Was it her defiance that only added to our anger?
My heart began to race uncontrollably.
“Take to the skies, by my heart's might.
Through your eyes shall I witness the golden mount's ruin.”
Now, with my wings no longer bound,
they slowly unfurl, as I gaze readily toward the edge.
The winds whirl against my skin, beckoning me beneath the blinding light.
Frustration, despair, and the faint allure of paradise tickle my nose.
"Proclaim defiantly, to the incarnation of Labreska, that a new era has dawned.
With the power of erasure, usher in the ruination of the golden mountain."
With the whispers of the being, black-winged like us, less one eye, still echoing in my head,
I stood at the cliff’s precipice with wings spread wide.
The moment of flight that had flashed countless times in my mind.
A burning thirst, ignited by the winds of freedom in the dazzling sky.
"Come. Start your flight of destruction, The lost paradise of the dragons awaits."
💬 Our combat direction for Awakening Drakania was developed around her wielding two spears. We chose this type of weapon as we felt that it would be the best match for her concept and story, giving Adventurer’s feeling of wielding a “dragon’s might.” Her combat style is largely divided into two styles, Hexeblood and Dragonblood. She can switch back and forth between both, and her combat style will differ depending on her state.
In her Hexeblood state, she wields two smaller spears to unleash a barrage of quick and agile attacks. When Drakania was released, we saw some feedback that while her concept was good, her slower speed was disappointing. That’s why we wanted to provide a more agile combat style with her Awakening in sharp contrast with her Succession.
On the other hand, her Dragonblood state emphasizes her draconic nature in the form of destructive power unlike the speed of her Hexeblood state. In this form, Drakania’s left-hand spear is transformed into a dragon’s massive horn, and her dragon aspect can be seen in her skills.
Differing from our existing classes, we started developing Awakening Drakania after the release of her Succession. As this was a new direction for us and with so many people eagerly waiting for its release, we’re thrilled to be able to present you with this announcement. We hope you enjoy it.
Thank you.
Special Barters were added to provide exciting opportunities through bartering. Therefore, we have updated the list of items and barters available via special barters to reinstill the excitement.
Bartering on Invernen Island and Delinghart Island was initially designed for the exchange of materials and luxury land goods. However, to better reflect the current state of Black Desert, we have decided to update the items available at these locations. We made Verdant Black Stones more accessible for Adventurers starting their ocean voyage, and adjusted bartering options for veteran sailors to make it easier to obtain higher grade enhancement materials as well as Crow Coins.
We improved Succession Maehwa to better utilize her Stamina and the Red Blade.Succession
Her previous iteration of the Red Blade was tied to using Prime: Decapitation, which made it difficult to activate the Red Blade at will. Now, when you now use Maehwa's Will with 2 Red Petals, you will gain an additional Red Petal, making it easier to activate the Red Blade. Blind Slash will now also spend WP instead of Stamina, which we felt would better benefit her combat prowess.
Lastly, while Maehwa: Ascension to Heaven did improve the cast time of Prime: Red Moon, we felt it somewhat lacking, especially since you couldn't combo into other skills until Prime: Red Moon's attack had ended. Now if you have learned Maehwa: Ascension to Heaven, you can now combo into Whirlwind Cut, Decapitation, and Prime: Petal Swirl during Prime: Red Moon, adding the option of quickly comboing into other skills after applying the skill's Floating debuff.
Awakening Maehwa was improved to deal critical damage at crucial moments, with a focus on the Petal Swirl skill. The skill's innate Accuracy buff has been reduced, but now using the skill will grant All Accuracy +15% for 10 seconds, thus making it a better skill to compliment others. (The Movement/Attack Speed and Evasion reduction debuffs have also been removed, accordingly.) To make sure these changes would further complement other skills, we reduced the cooldown times of Moonrise, Flow: Cloud Stab, and Flow: Moonlight Dash, while also adding a Critical Hit Rate +25% buff (PvP only) to Flow: Frostflower. Finally, we changed Absolute: Red Moon so you can now use the skill with your awakening weapon, and its visual effects have been changed accordingly.
Righteous Smite's cast time and projectile speed were deliberately made slow due to its potential to inflict a large amount of damage with your greatbow. Therefore, we decided to further bolster that potential by increasing its damage in PvP. Marked Bloom was a skill without any defensive or debuff effects, so we decided to strengthen its concept as a powerful skill by adjusting the number of targets hit by it. Lastly, for Luthraghon's Call, we felt many Archers were left somewhat exposed once the Forward Guard effect while charging would end. Now Archers can cast this skill in peace, knowing that the Forward Guard effect will last even after you finish charging the skill.● Righteous Smite
Succession Sage is known to have an arsenal of skills with long cast times that inflict damage over a large area and apply debuffs such as DP and Evasion reduction on hits. However, such long cast times were being punished particularly in PvP. Thus, to increase the lethality of his skill hits, we increased his PvP damage for major skills such as Prime: Ator's Mark, Prime: Spatial Collapse, and Prime: Ator's Energy, as well as improving the efficiency of using Prime: Spatial Collapse, Prime: Ator's Mark, and Void Gateways with Rift Chain. Lastly, we added a visual effect to disguise the actual trajectory of the Sage when using Rift Chain, making it more difficult to predict his movements.Succession
Awakening Sage saw a similar change regarding his attack damage. Firstly, when comboing from Divine Executioner into Flow: Judgment, the previous version had the spear bolt attack thrown midair, smash attack, and the following spear bolt attack damage all around the same figures. We decided to bolster these numbers by increasing the number of targets hit by the 2nd (smash) attack, while still retaining the number of targets hit at the moment of the smash attack's initial contact, thus greatly increasing the lethal potential of this skill. In addition, for Lightning Prison, we decided to greatly increase its PvP damage to make it regarded as a powerful skill on its own. (However, do note that we felt the Critical Hit Rate +100% buff was excessive to restore.) Lastly, Spear Bolt previously only activated faster when used after Shock Relay, but it's now been improved to activate instantly after certain skills without any defensive effects, which we hope will grant a variety of new opening moves for our Sage Adventurers.
A wave of changes is coming in for Corsair in this week’s update.Succession
First off, the Succession mermaid skills previously had their defensive effect adjusted. In this update, additional changes were made for better adaptability in PvP situations.
Prime: Whirling Slash defensive effect was changed from “Super Armor while moving” to “Invincible -> Super Armor while moving” and Prime: Storming Gale was given the “Forward Guard during the skill” effect. We believe these changes will make her Succession combat a lot more flexible than before. Furthermore, the combo Prime: Wipe Out > Overflow was improved and the distance traveled with Prime: Mareca: Sea Stroll was increased to improve its approach capabilities.
As for her Awakening, we added a new skill called Tide-splitter Patraca. This skill was designed to be used when she is in need of a quick defense, so it has the effect “Invincible at the start of the skill.” It can then be comboed into Ocean Melancholy immediately after for additional protection.
Additionally, the Super Armor on Pirate's Life For Me was moved to Flow: Earth-render Patraca to improve ranged attacks. However, the damage of Pirate's Life For Me was increased to improve it in PvE.
Sycraia Underwater Ruins (Upper Zone) and Basilisk Den, monster zones that are not affected by Item Drop Rate buffs, were included in the treasure item drop event. Generally, Adventurers would use Item Drop Rate buffs to increase their chances in monster zones with treasure items, however, Sycraia Underwater Ruins (Upper Zone) and Basilisk Den were included as additional monster zones for Adventurers to go to.
During this event, the same treasure item was added to Sycraia Underwater Ruins (Upper Zone) as the one available in Crescent Shrine, while the Basilisk Den got the same one available in the Waragon Nest.
In the future, we plan to exclude Sycraia Underwater Ruins (Upper Zone) and Basilisk Den from treasure item drop events.
Screenshot Mode (Ctrl + U, Photo Gallery) has been revamped.● Revamped Screenshot Mode.
First we added a guide (toggled by F1) on the side which lists the different hotkeys and relevant settings.
These hotkeys will make it easier to adjust visual effects such as filters, blur intensity, gamma, and contrast, etc.
We also added the ability to adjust the ambiance, as well as the time and weather, in your photo so that you can take the best pic suited to your location.
From the quiet hours of dawn to the pitch dark hours of night, with weather ranging from clear skies to cloudy days, you can choose the best settings to take that quality picture. (Sadly, rain or snow cannot be changed on whim).
Last but not least, we also added the function to perform Social Actions in Screenshot Mode.
Along with the addition of Slow Mode (Hotkey: U), which slows down your character, these functions will help bring out the best side of your character for your photo sessions.
We look forward to seeing the marvelous photos that our expert photographer Adventurers will take. Thank you.
As we mentioned during in the GM notes, we are applying an update regarding the maximum amount of items you can list and purchase from the Central Market.● Increased the maximum listable and purchasable amount of 1,340 items in the Central Market.
We've increased the amount you can list and purchase by item type, and, as long as there are a certain number of items listed on the market, you will be able to purchase a greater amount of items simultaneously than you were previously able to purchase.
We hope this will bring some quality of life improvements for our Adventurers who frequent the Central Market.
The Adventure Logs were originally designed to provide a different means of experiencing the variety of content Black Desert had to offer, while also rewarding the Adventurer with items or stats.● Improved the Adventure Logs as follows:
To help new Adventurers progress through the available Adventure Logs with ease, we've altered some of the objectives for these entries, including Igor Bartali's Adventure Journal that started it all.
The Arena of Solare Preseason has come to a close. We'd like to thank all of our Adventurers who queued up and fought fiercely in the battlefield. Look forward to future updates and/or changes to be shared on the Announcements page of the official website or through the Global Lab.● Concluded the Arena of Solare Preseason.
Cron Meal cooldowns have been reduced from 30 minutes to 10 seconds.● Changed the cooldown of Seafood Cron Meal, Simple Cron Meal, and Exquisite Cron Meal to 10 seconds.
Cron Meals were used in a variety of different content, but were inconvenient to use if ever they were accidentally consumed due to the long cooldown times.
To prevent such mishaps, we decided to reduce their cooldown to 10 seconds. However, considering how Health EXP can be gained from food consumption, we decided to add the "Satiated" debuff to keep the rate of gaining Health EXP the same as before.
Please note that certain other food effects can still be stacked, hence the reason why we chose to retain their respective cooldowns as before.

The Adventurer's faithful companions can now be trained to Tier 5 and also be appointed as Alpha Pets.● Added Tier 5 Pet Training and Alpha Pets.
You can now train Tier 4 pets up to Tier 5 pets, who will also gain the ability to be appointed as Alpha Pets.
Alpha Pets will keep other pets in your pack in line to make sure they will all work together to aid you in your adventures.
The Alpha Pet's Talent will increase by 1 additional level, and their "Pack Leader" skill will increase the looting speed of all of your other pets nearby.
You can only appoint one Tier 5 pet as the alpha, and any other Tier 5 pets checked out will display the same stats as other Tier 4 pets.
We originally designed the Tier 5 pets to boast a greater variety of skills or effects, akin to an upgraded Tier 4 pet, so to speak.
However, we felt that the process to "upgrade" to a Tier 5 pet would prove too taxing on our Adventurers, so we decided to change the focus to increasing the pet looting speeds.
We bid you happy adventuring with your cute pets and their alpha pack leader.
The Dwarven artisans of Gavinya Great Crater have developed a new and improved way to repair and extract items.● Improved the repair function.
The newly improved functions have been spreading across the continent, far and wide, from stable keepers to even the campsites.
Now Adventurers will only need to press the "repair" button once to repair any and every item that is in need of repair, and the means of extracting outfits have also been improved.
Before using the "Select All" button and extracting from outfits, please make sure you've locked any outfit/costume appearances you do not wish to accidentally extract and destroy.
The Florchestra Contrabass, named after the instructor of the famous maestro, Artina the "Wandering Musician," is now available. In addition, Marni's Instruments, invented by the infamous "mad" scientist, have also been discovered. 4 different types of Marnians and the Marnibass are available, ready to produce mystical sounds never heard before in the world of Black Desert.
Many of our musically-inclined Adventurers have composed wonderful music with their Beginner/Florchestra instruments thus far. We hope the new additions of the Florchestra Contrabass and Marni's Instruments will inspire both [I'm a Producer UwU] and novice Adventurers alike to create compositions that aren't just exciting but also express sounds in greater detail and volume.
The mysterious Marnians are aptly named (Wavy Planet, Illusion Tree, Secret Note, and Sandwich), each capable of producing 4 unique sounds for a total of 16 different styles. With such a variety of possible sounds, each time you compose a new music score it can feel as though you’re composing a brand new song.

The revamps to Great Ocean monster zones and ship upgrade methods introduced in the GM note are now here.● Increased the drop rates and amount of loot obtained from defeating the following Great Ocean monsters.
First, we're improving the loot and drop rates in Great Ocean monster zones. We wanted to add more zones with unique traits for our Adventurers to choose from just as we did to the monster zones on land.
We also adjusted the difficulty of Saltwater Crocodile monster zones to be available for solo Adventurers, but will maintain loot dropping for up to two party members as before.
To make Great Ocean content more accessible to a greater number of Adventurers, we applied a revamp to the means of upgrading ships as well.
Certain zones will now drop Verdant Black Stones, certain region quests will reward a bunch of Sea Monster's Ooze, and new recipes for Adhesive for Upgrade have been added as well.
We will continue to look for making quality of life improvements so many more Adventurers will easily be able to access more Great Ocean content.
We'd like to thank all of our Adventurers who love sailing the high seas of Black Desert.
As we mentioned in the GM note, we're implementing a bunch of changes such as reducing the weight of Imperial Delivery boxes, improving the Item Recover function, etc.● Changed the weight of the following cooking and alchemy boxes used for Imperial Delivery to 10LT:
We're thankful for all of our Adventurers and their constant feedback, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts on these new additions as well.
We're adding new Alchemy recipes for crafting Purified Lightstones● Added new Alchemy recipes to craft Purified Lightstones.
These new recipes use Magical Lightstone Crystals instead of Black Gem Fragments. You can exchange Imperfect Lightstones or Lightstones you no longer need for Magical Lightstone Crystals with a character of at least Alchemy Guru 1 through Dalishain the Wandering Alchemist.
We are making adjustments to the Gyfin Rhasia Temple Underground loot drop rates.● Made the following changes to the Gyfin Rhasia Temple Underground:
The drop rates of items such as Forest Fury, Elkarr, and others was reduced. The drop rate of Caphras Stones was increased and we added the Destruction Spirit Stone to be dropped here.
These change were not made to lower the drop rates in Gyfin Rhasia Temple Underground. The main focus of these changes was to adjust the value of certain loot across all the monster zones.
We originally made the ability to use certain skills while auto-running on a mount available to Adventurers with high enough mastery in Training. Considering how much more difficult it is to level Training compared to other Life Skills, we had initially set the bar to "at least Artisan 1," but found that not as many Adventurers were using this ability. With the hopes that many more Adventurers will enjoy this ability, we decided to lower the requirement to "at least Professional 1."● Lowered the requirement to use the function which automatically used certain skills while auto-moving on mounts.
We've added some side quests for world-building purposes.● Added several new side quests in the world of Black Desert.
We plan on adding more quests like these where you, the Adventurer, will be helping out random NPCs, both changing the in-game world for the better as you get a better understanding of said NPCs, thereby breathing new life into the immersive world of Black Desert.
Changed the requirement of the notification popping up at the top of the screen as previously mentioned in the GM notes. Previously, the notification displayed when a green item or higher was obtained. We have changed the requirement to only displaying for blue items or higher so the notification is more useful.● Changed the requirements for obtained items to appear at the top of the screen as system notifications as follows:
In the past, obtaining Black Stones was a worthy feat, but as it’s become easier to attain them, we have adjusted notifications not to display for them even though they are a red grade item.
