Here are the latest update details for Black Desert Online on March 30, 2022 (Wed).

The world of Black Desert is filled with diverse regions which also play unique background tracks that were composed to best fit the culture and atmosphere of each region. In an attempt to introduce more of our Adventurers to these delightful sounds, we revamped the entire background music system, and the specifics involving how each track is repeated and played in-game. We also plan on adding exclusive tracks to play when your character riding on horseback, so please look forward to more of such ear candy to be updated in the near future.

● Reworked the background music playback system to play music according to the individual styles of the five major regions in the continent.
- The playback system will now play several tracks in succession, instead of repeating the same track over and over again for the same region.
- Combat music will now fade while fighting normal monsters; in areas with constant combat, music that best suits the specific region will play.
* We plan to add horse riding music in a future update.


● Improved movements during auto-navigation to appear more natural.
● Improved HP bar/Family name and other UI features to no longer overlap with her character if her height was customized to max height.
● Markthanan's Flourish - Improved the camera effect to display more naturally.
● Dragon's Advance - Improved to combo more smoothly from moving forward or sprinting.
● Azure Onslaught - Changed to combo from jumping forward.
● Azure Onslaught - Changed the down slashing animation to occur faster.
● Azure Onslaught - Improved to combo more smoothly into other skill.
● Markthanan's Scale - Improved to now be cancellable by pressing the "Q" key once more.
● Prime: Markthanan's Scale - Improved to now be cancellable more quickly.
● Brimbolt Strike, Flow: Brimbolt Wave - Changed to now be comboed into Slayer Training's attack 2.
● Embers - Changed to now spin and deal the down slash animation more quickly.
● Omnislash, Skewer - Changed to now stab with the Slayer more quickly during the skill.
● Flow: Asphyxiate - Changed the preceding skill to Skewer I.
● Abyssal Fang - Improved to now activate the skill by spinning your character based on the direction the camera is facing.
● Markthanan's Dominion - Changed Azure Onslaught or Markthanan's Breath to have a higher priority to activate when pressing directional keys over this skill
● Dragon's Maw - Increased the activation speed of attack 2.
● Markthanan's Heart - Improved to now apply its effects to Black Spirit: Markthanan's Flourish and Black Spirit: Blazing Strike during the skill. The skill description has been changed accordingly.
● Improved the slowdown effect on hits for the following skills.

● Azure Onslaught - Improved to combo more smoothly into Markthanan's Dominion.
● Blazing Strike - Improved to activate instantly when comboed from the following skills.

● Markthanan's Scale - Changed the part of the skill description about charging ions since the skill does not actually charge ions.
● Fixed the issue where abnormal movements would be displayed when holding Directional Keys + SPACE after jumping to the left or right in a non-combat stance.
● Embers - Fixed the issue where it wouldn't be activated while moving.
● Fixed the issue where your slayer would appear abnormal when sprinting after dismounting your horse.
● Markthanan's Flourish - Fixed the issue where Sprint attacks of Slayer Training would continue when the skill is locked or not learned.
● Fixed the issue where your character's movements would appear abnormal when mounting a fast horse in combat stance.
● Dragonwalk - Fixed the issue where the motion would appear abnormal when comboing into Skewer.
● Fixed the issue where your character's shard would appear abnormal when jumping over walls while sprinting.
● Prime: Dragonborn Constitution - Fixed the issue where the effect that removes the "Movement, Attack, Casting Speed decrease for nearby allies" effect wouldn't be applied.
● Markthanan's Heart - Fixed the issue where the effects wouldn't be applied under certain circumstances.
● Brimbolt Raze - Fixed the issue where all 10 targets would be pulled in after other skills, regardless of the skill level.
● Dragon's Maw IV - Fixed the issue where the attack 1 damage and effects wouldn't be applied when comboing with other skills.
● Abyssal Fang - Fixed the issue where comboing into Dragon's Maw wouldn't display visual effects.
● Fixed the issue where you couldn't use Processing with Shattered Dragon's Malice even when Heating 15 Dragon Scale Fossils with the effect of Ceaseless Vengeance.


● Adjusted the amount of Parley consumed per Barter to be reduced by 0.1% per Barter Level from Master 11 to Guru 50.

As we mentioned during the CalpheON - Episode 2 Q&A session, we have adjusted the cooldown for all elixirs. You will now be able to drink a variety of elixirs in content such as party monster zones with shorter cooldown times. Please drink responsibly.

● Reduced the cooldown of Elixirs, Enhancers, and Damage Reducers from 10 sec to 1 sec.


● Added a function where upon successfully enhancing to [PEN (V) Naru gear], you'll be able to immediately convert it into [PRI (I) Tuvala gear] from the Enhancement window.


● Added a new colored icon for a Fence with crops that can be harvested (R) or undergo plant breeding (F5) when viewed on the World Map (M).

● Released Drakania, the Destroyers of the Ynix.



● The "Mountain of Eternal Winter (Everfrost)" is now available in the world of Black Desert.








● Newly created characters can now choose to start in either the Mountain of Eternal Winter or the Ancient Stone Chamber.
- The "Select Starting Zone" UI will display upon pressing the "Create Character" button in the Character Creation window.


● The weather of the Mountain of Eternal Winter is always snowing.
- Snowstorms will randomly occur throughout the region.
* Be exposed to a snowstorm for too long, and you may catch the "Frostbite" debuff.
- Snowstorms will occur with greater intensity at higher altitudes.



● Added new monster zones to the Mountain of Eternal Winter region.











Winter Tree Fossils









● You can obtain "Forgotten Witch's Token" in all monster zones at the Mountain of Eternal Winter.
- Right-clicking on the item will take you to Erethea's Limbo and, with the item in your possession, you can proceed with the trial there.
- The trial at Erethea's Limbo will end 60 minutes after it begins.
- When you enter Erethea's Limbo with the "Forgotten Witch's Token" in your possession, symbols will appear on four gems.
* The goal of Erethea's Limbo is to find all the chambers with the relevant symbols engraved on them and to overcome all the trials.




Fight in the Jade Starlight Forest and Dreadwinter Tree Fossils, and you may find the [Wanewinter Guardian] Erebjork crossing your path. A stronger version of the [Wanewinter Guardian] Erebjork can also be found within snowstorms throughout Everfrost. Erebjork will appear with her own spirit, ready to face all Adventurers who dare set foot in the Mountain of Eternal Winter.


● Added the Labreska's Helmet item.



● Added the following items which can be obtained from the Mountain of Eternal Winter.


● Added Cooking and Elixir (Draught) items you can craft with items obtained from the Mountain of Eternal Winter region.


● Added items that can be crafted with materials obtained in the Mountain of Eternal Winter via Wood/Mineral Workbenches.


● Added the following Shai costume to be craftable via a Lv. 1 Costume Mill.



● Rumors of new hunting monsters being spotted in the Mountain of Eternal Winter region have spread among adventurers.

● You can obtain the following furniture items by hunting the above monsters:





● Added new Blackstar sub-weapon items.


● Added a questline for crafting Blackstar sub-weapons.
- The questline for crafting Blackstar sub-weapons can only be completed once per character.



● Reduced the amount of "Marni's Unstable Fuel" required to copy an item by 50%.
- Therefore, the formula for copying items was changed to the following:

The Eternal Winter expansion is finally here, bringing with it Black Desert’s newest region – Mountain of Eternal Winter!
Thanks to Lando, here’s a taste of the cutscenes and stories that you can expect in the main questline.





The Mountain of Eternal Winter is where the legends of Labreska, the Golden Dragon, first originate from. Located south of Drieghan, you can reach the new region by traveling rightwards from Duvencrune.



Living up to the name “eternal winter,” the region is characterized by constant snowfall and powerful snowstorms which cover its peaks.




Continued exposure to the region’s chilling environment will inflict the health-draining debuff, Frostbite. But as long as you have the regional drinks, Citron Tea and Well-brewed Mesima Tea, you have no reason to fear frostbite while exploring the Mountain of Eternal Winter.

Eilton is the central village of the Mountain of Eternal Winter, and many of the mountain's inhabitants live in small camps spanning its rugged terrain. Although Eilton is small in size, the Demibeasts call Eilton their home, and the village offers more knowledge to learn than any other area. So it’s not a bad idea to take the time to explore and meet the people here.



There are also minerals, ores, timber, and other crafting materials, which can be processed into trade goods, that can only be found in the Mountain of Eternal Winter.





Even a land as harsh as the Mountain of Eternal has its very own regional cuisine! Not only is there a variety of cuisine to be found here, but there are also several other buff items such as perfumes, potions, elixirs, and more. For now, here’s a sample of the cuisine you can expect to enjoy.

Besides the cuisine, you can also obtain powerful crystals that offer a variety of effects by defeating monsters that make their home in the Mountain of Eternal Winter.

The Mountain of Eternal Winter is where you can obtain the key crafting material for Labreska’s Helmet.


If you’re planning on crafting Labreska’s Helmet, you’ll first need to fulfill the requirements below to accept the questline.
- Must be Lv. 56 or higher
- Completed the [Labreska’s Helmet] Unexpected Gain quest
- Must have at least one Flame of Frost
- Must have either a PEN (V) Blackstar Helmet or a PEN (V) Boss (Griffon/Giath) Helmet at Caphras Level 10

The Flame of Frost can be obtained from several different monster zones.



▲ [Murrowak's Labyrinth] Recommend 280 AP & 350 DP

A once-prosperous iron mine, Murrowak's Labyrinth is now infested by swarms of Murrowak. If you plan on battling this infestation, you’ll need to stay on your toes as the queen of the Murrowak, Vercedes, will reveal herself to deal with any dangerous intruders.



As you delve deeper into Murrowak’s Labyrinth, you can obtain “Murrowak Crystal Carapace,” which can be exchanged with NPC Torio for Tori's Box of Valuables after defeating Vercedes.




Jade Starlight Forest is the land of the Okjinsini, who are said to be born from the tears of Labreska. As a side note, although the Okjinsini are well-adapted to the cold conditions of the Mountain of Eternal Winter, they are also said to really enjoy warm food.

As the forest is their home, the Okjinsini have erected potent totems and braziers to mark their territory and empower themselves; thus, destroying these structures will make them easier to defeat.



The Jade Starlight Forest is also where you can encounter Erebjork, the Dreadwinter Guardian. If you find yourself in the middle of a snowstorm here, be prepared for her appearance. Since she is one of the sources of the Flame of Frost, a key crafting material for Labreska’s Helmet, she is a dangerous foe to face alone, so consider banding together with your fellow Adventurers to take her down.

These strangely beautiful-looking Winter Tree Fossils dot the landscape of the Mountain of Eternal Winter. If you interact with one of these fossils and spend 100 Energy, you will bring forth monsters affected by the mountain’s spirits. Be prepared, because there’s a small chance that the [Wanewinter Guardian] Erebjork will appear as well.

Winter Tree Fossils offer two levels of difficulty. Of course, the rewards will also vary depending on the difficulty level, but you can obtain a variety of loot from both difficulties, so make sure to keep an eye out for these trees while exploring the mountain.



Erethea’s Limbo is a prison created by Erethea, the seventh witch born from Labreska’s first death, to “erase the fear of dragons from the hearts of mankind.”

To start the trials of Erethea’s Limbo, you’ll need to first obtain the Forgotten Witch's Token from any of the monster zones in the Mountain of Eternal Winter.



Once you enter Erethea’s Limbo, you’ll be greeted by four symbols above crystals on the floor. From here, you’ll need to clear the trials of the rooms marked with these symbols to be granted access to the Golden Chamber, which contains the rewards.

One more thing, as you move through the rooms, there may be rooms marked with a symbol that cannot be opened, so you’ll need to figure out how you’ll solve them to overcome Erethea’s Limbo.

Tip: We recommend trying Rulupee’s exploration quests once you’ve completed the Mountain of Eternal Winter’s main questline!

● How to Accept Quest: Black Spirit > Event Quest > Journey to the Mountain of Eternal Winter with Rulupee
● Quest Requirements: Your character must be Lv. 56 or higher and completed the Mountain of Eternal Winter’s main questline


Once you’ve completed the quest above, you can accept an additional quest from Rulupee.

● Pre-creation for the new class, Drakania, is now open.
- You can now pre-create and customize the new class, Drakania.
- You can select either the Mountain of Eternal Winter region or the Ancient Stone Chamber to start your adventure in when you pre-create Drakania.
- The UI from which you can select the region you want to start your adventure in will be displayed when you press the Create Character button on the Character Creation window.
- You'll start your adventure in the Ancient Stone Chamber after maintenance on Apr 6, 2022 when you pre-create a character that is not Drakania.
- With the addition of the new class, you can now increase up to 27 character slots with the Character Slot Expansion Coupon.
※ You will be able to expand up to 28 character slots after a future update. We will announce if we make plans to expand the max number of character slots beyond 28.




● Pre-creation in the new Season Server, "Season: Drakania" is now open.
- Select "Season Character" in the character creation window to pre-create a season character for the "Season: Drakania" server.


● Added quests where Adventurers who've obtained the treasure-type items can obtain special furniture and titles as quest rewards.
- You can accept "The Treasure's True Owner" quest pertaining to each of the treasures you have in your possession by showing them to Patrigio at Crow's Nest.
- Upon completing a "The Treasure's True Owner" quest, you can obtain furniture shaped like the treasure and a title pertaining to the treasure.
※ You can meet Patrigio at Crow's Nest during Quests (O) -> Suggested -> [The Great Expedition] Crow's Nest consecutive quests.

● Added "Miss" to be displayed when your attacks miss so that you can more clearly recognize instance in which you miss attacks or successfully evade.
- You can activate the settings for this feature by going to the Show/Hide tab of (New) Menu -> Setting (F10) -> Settings and set "Miss Effect."




● Renewed the Voice Chat feature so that you can use it more conveniently.
- You can adjust Voice Chat settings or check out other Adventurers currently participating via the headset and mic icons () on the upper right of the in-game screen.
- You can check the Voice Chat channel you're currently participating in or adjust Sound/Voice Settings from the Voice Chat UI.
- You can check the list of Family names of other Adventurers who have entered the Voice Chat channel you're in from the bottom of the Voice Chat UI and adjust volumes respectively.
- The Family names on the list of other Adventurers will be displayed so that you can see which Adventurer is talking.
- You can switch channels (Guild / Red Battlefield - Valencia Street Battle) or adjust detailed Sound/Voice Settings via the cogwheel-shaped button on the Voice Chat UI.
- You can use the Sticker UI feature on the Voice Chat UI.
- The Family names or character names of other Adventurers in the same Voice Chat channel will momentarily be displayed when they talk when you have Voice Chat on.




● Added the Voice Chat channel, "[Red Battlefield] Valencia City" so that you can voice chat with your team members in Red Battlefield - Valencia City.
- You can freely voice chat with your team members when you enter Red Battlefield - Valencia City without adjusting any settings.

● The 2021 Winter Season has come to a close.
- All season characters that have not been converted will be automatically converted to normal characters.
- Adventurers who have not completed either "[Season Server Graduation] At the Crossroad" or "[Season Server Graduation] Into the Big Wide World" will get Fughar's Letter of Encouragement and Gift Box Full of Memories in their mailbox (B).
* The letter will be deleted at 23: 59 on Apr 29, 2022, so please read it before it gets deleted.
- All season quests that have not been completed have been deleted.
- Tuvala gear of the highest level per slot that hasn't been converted after maintenance on March 30, 2022 (Wed) will automatically be converted.
- Tuvala enhancement materials, Tuvala conversion stones, unconverted Tuvala gear, and other seasonal items will be deleted.
※ Please refer to the [Notice] End of Winter Season for more details regarding Tuvala gear conversion and which items were deleted.




● Separated [Valkyrie, Nova] Venslar Gloves from the [Valkyrie, Nova] Venslar Armor.
- Added [Valkyrie, Nova] Venslar Gloves to the outfit boxes that contain the [Valkyrie, Nova] Venslar Armor.
* Adventurers who had the [Valkyrie, Nova] Venslar Armor in their possession will find the [Valkyrie, Nova] Venslar Gloves in their storage in Heidel.
● Increased the amount of Vell's Fine Powder obtainable from the Vell Reward Bundle.
- 2 to 5 → 4 to 10
● Added Alchemy recipes to make Vell's Fine Powder with an Alchemy Tool from your residence. (For Alchemy Professional 1 or higher)



● New outfit for Valkyrie has been added to the Pearl Shop: Hyperion
