After rigorous tests in the Black Desert Global Lab from fellow players, we recently received reports that a Critical Hit Damage increase effect was applied to the Blackstar main weapons, but not listed in their item tool tips. Immediately after this was reported, we fully examined the entire data of the Blackstar main weapons and discovered that the “Critical Hit Damage +2%” was indeed being applied for each enhancement level (including unenhanced) of the Blackstar main weapon.
The Blackstar main weapons were originally designed to be similar in performance to the Kzarka and Offin Tett main weapons, but due to our carelessness, the “Critical Hit Damage +2%” setting was included during the data implementation stage for the item’s update. While the effect was applied, we remained unaware of this fact and the relevant tool tip data ended up not being added. Thus, the relevant teams were unaware, and the issue was missed during the QA process for the update as well.
We understand just how much of a sensitive and important matter it is for all of the in-game effects and settings to be clearly displayed. That’s why we sincerely apologize for not only failing to examine our work more closely, but not being able to find this issue in advance until it was reported to us by our Adventurers.
After completing our first investigation into the Blackstar main weapons, we also began to examine other equipment items as well. We discovered that some of the other items were also missing tool tip descriptions or had effects abnormally applied.
Additionally, we discovered that the Max Stamina +100 effect of Topaz Earrings of Regeneration, Manos Topaz Earring, Cliff's Shoes, and Devourer Helmet was the same data type as the Max Stamina +100 effect of Pearl outfits for sub-weapons, resulting in a problem where those four items are recognized as “Pearl Items.” Thus, the issue is that if you equip all 4 of those items, you receive the 4-set effect of Pearl outfits and if you equip three parts of a Pearl outfit and equip one of the four items above, you can also receive the 4-set Pearl outfit effect.
We also found that the Chimera's Pupil Gem had a Max MP/SP/WP +15 effect, but this was not included in the item’s tool tip.
The HP Recovery +5 by 5% of chance per hit effect was not being applied.
Kalis Florang, All Ultimate Kalis Main Weapons (Excluding Ultimate Kalis Morning Star)
The AP doesn't drop when it rains effect was not being applied.
Azwell Florang, [Season] Azwell Florang, All Ultimate Azwell Main Weapons
The AP doesn't drop when it rains effect was not being applied.
Valks' Sub-weapon
The Extra Damage to Monsters +3 effect was being applied incorrectly as Extra Damage to Monsters +2.
Akum, Rocaba Defense Gear 2-set Effect
The All Evasion +5 effect was being applied incorrectly as All Evasion +20.
Rocaba Defense Gear 4-set Effect
The All Evasion +2 effect was being applied incorrectly as All Evasion +8.
After we finished the complete inspection for all equipment items of the Black Desert Global Lab, we performed an additional complete sweep of the data for the live servers and confirmed that the same issues existed. In the course of this process, we felt deep regret for our inadequate management and mistakes in the details which ended up causing a great deal of inconvenience to our Adventurers. Once again, we sincerely apologize to all our Adventurers who love Black Desert and of course the Black Desert Global Labs as well.
In order to ensure similar issues do not occur in the future, we will be completely changing the data code structure to 100% synchronize/link the item effect and displayed data. We expect this task to take quite a bit of time to complete, and the way the data will be displayed might be somewhat unrefined, but we will make sure to implement these changes to ensure problems caused by individual mistakes do not occur again. Until this change is completed, we will do our utmost to avoid similar issues by conducting more thorough and systematic inspections before every weekly update.
As mentioned before, the Blackstar main weapon was designed to have a similar performance with the existing Kzarka and Offin Tett boss gear. Based on our original intent, we would need to remove the Critical Hit Damage increase effect from the Blackstar main weapon. However, since this effect is already applied to the live servers and not just the Black Desert Global Lab due to our carelessness, we decided to add the Critical Hit Damage increase effect to the existing Kzarka and Offin Tett weapons (includes Suppressed Kzarka main weapon, Kzarka main weapon converted from Tuvala, Arsha main weapon, and Oasis Ramones main weapon) for them to have the same Critical Hit Damage effect as the Blackstar main weapon. As a result, today’s update for the Black Desert Global Lab has added the Critical Hit Damage +2% effect to Kzarka and Offin Tett main weapons, and we expect this update to be implemented to the live servers of all regions in the following week.
As for some of the issues mentioned above: certain set effects for the Blackstar defense gear not being applied; the Topaz Earrings of Regeneration, Manos Topaz Earring, Cliff's Shoes, and Devourer Helmet abnormally applying the Pearl outfit set effect; the Chimera's Pupil Gem having an effect missing from its tooltip, etc. These issues will also be fixed for the live servers of all regions with next week’s update.
We are truly grateful to our Adventurers for voicing their concerns for issues that we failed to discover. In the future, we will do our best to prevent any inconveniences to our Adventurers’ gameplay by carefully checking all the details before releasing any update regardless of the content.
