  • A new route to go into Mediah Castle without going through the inner gate (2nd gate) has been added.


  • Fixed the issue where characters moved awkwardly in some areas in Heidel.

  • Fixed the issue where characters could go into abnormal terrains in Altinova.

  • Fixed the issue where movement was difficult due to some rough terrains in Crescent Shrine and Desert Naga Temple.

  • Fixed the issue where characters could go into certain pillars in Calpheon City.

  • The maximum attack range for the Hwachas used for Node/Conquest War and Savage Rift has been increased by approximately 40%.

Class Changes
  • All Classes
    • Attack (AP) of the following skills regarding summons has been improved.
      • [Heilang]
        • Starting with AP +30 for Summon Heilang I, AP will increase by +5 for every level of the skill which means Summon Heilang XI would spawn Heilang with AP +80.
      • [Blade of Darkness]
        • Starting with AP +20 for Blade of Darkness I, AP +25 for Blade of Darkness II, and AP +30 for Blade of Darkness III.
      • [Projection]
        • AP +30
      • [Gorr, Marg, Arne, Tett]

    • DP of characters and some monsters (Hystria, Aakman, Gyfin Rhasia, and etc.) had been increased in the recent balance patches. As a result it became harder for characters who utilize summoning skills as summoned creatures/magic circles/formation did not get an AP boost. This is the reason behind the AP improvement of summoning skills.
    • Summoned creatures/magic circles/formation spawned by a character will get stats that combine the AP of the summoned object itself and the character (excluding bonus stats).
    • Fixed the issue where the CC skill effects of certain skills only applied to the first hit so the CC skill effects could not be applied to distant targets.
      • Before Change: CC skill effect only applied to the first hit of the skill motion.
      • After Change: With certain skills, CC skill effect will now be applied to the other skill affected areas besides the first hit area.
        • The changes above do not apply to skills against single targets. This applies to skills like Spiral Torpedo and Spiral Cannon which are skills performed while the character is on the move as well as skills like Wailing Wind and Flow: Ancient Wave in which the attack range itself moves.
        • However, CC skills do not stack on a single target.
      • For skills Wailing Wind where the attack is inflicted forward, CC skill effects like Knockback will now be applied not only on the first hit of the skill, but on the latter hits as well.
      • For skills with skill motions that are relatively longer in time, CC effects of one set of skill may be stacked.
        • For example, Kunoichi’s skill Tendon Cutter applies CC skill effect on every hit. Since the duration of each hit’s skill motion is relatively longer than other ordinary skills, the CC skill effect is able to stack.
      • Please check updates per class below.
    • It has been edited that characters who do not have a weapon equipped would appear with the Main/Sub-weapon on the Character Selection screen by default.
    • Fixed the issue where weapon effects would not be displayed properly intermittently.
    • Fixed the issue where IMMUNE text would be displayed when CC skill effects and Smash effects were applied at the same time.
  • Warrior
    • CC skill effect of the following skills will now only be applied on the first hit:
      • Chopping Kick, Shield Push, Deep Thrust, Flow: Overwhelm
      • CC effects do not stack on a single target.
    • Fixed the awkward graphics in the capes while having Longsword equipped with Goyen outfit.
  • Ranger
    • CC skill effect of the skill Charging Wind will now only be applied on the first hit.
    • CC skill effect of the skill Penetrating Wind will now only be applied on the first hit.
  • Sorceress
    • CC skill effect will only be applied to the first hit now for the skill Absolute: Shadow Kick.
  • Berserker
    • It has been edited that Down Smash and Air Smash effects would not be applied during cooldown of the skill Flame Buster.
    • The skill tooltip of the skill Elastic Force has been edited to match the actual effect of the skill.
      • Pushes the target on good hits while mounted → Pushes the target on good hits while mounted (PvE Only)
      • ”WP Recovery +5 upon using skill” added.
    • Added the text “WP +5 when you don't have enough WP” to the skill tooltip of the skill Fierce Strike so that it would match with the actual skill effect.
    • Added the text “WP will recover by +3” upon use of the skill to the skill tooltip of the skill Headbutt so that it would match with the actual skill effect.
    • CC skill effect will only be applied to the first hit now for the following skills:
      • Absolute: Falling Rock, Absolute: Headbutt, Flow: Ancient Power.

    • Down Smash effect of the skill Hastiludium will now be applied on the first hit.

  • Maehwa
    • It has been edited that the skill Sleet Steps could be used in combat mode with the Blade.
    • Moving distance of the first stab motion of the skill Moonrise has been increased to allow attack while moving.
      • However, moving distance will remain the same during cooldown.
    • Stiffness effect has been changed to Stun effect for the first hit and this will be allowed in PvP now as well for the skill Moonrise.
    • Damage of the skill Sticky Snowflake has been increased as follows:

    • Fixed the issue where the skill Absolute: Blunt Kick could not be used during cooldown after the skill was performed through Quick Slot.
    • Added the text “Pushes the target on good hit (Only PvE)” to the skill tooltip of the skill Stigma so that it would match with the actual skill effect.
    • Fixed the graphical glitch that appeared on the Epheria Marine Underwear while in combat stance.
  • Ninja
    • CC skill effect will only be applied once now when using the skill Suicide Fall.
    • Floating effect of the skill Serpent Ascension will now be applied on the first hit.
    • Text of ‘Floating on good blade hits’ has been edited to ‘Floating on good hits’ to match with the actual effect of the skill for the skill Serpent Ascension.

  • Striker
    • CC skill effects of the following skills will now be applied only on the first hit:
      • Flow: Savage Fang, Combo: Hurricane, Wolf's Hunger, Absolute: Wolf's Hunger, Flow: Crosswind
    • Fixed the issue where the CC skill effect of the skill Spiral Cannon was only applied to the first hit only. (However, CC skills do not stack on a single target)
    • Fixed the issue where WP consumption amount of the skill Endless Explosion used during cooldown differed from what was written on its skill tooltip.
    • Fixed the issue where the damage of the last attack motion was not applied properly when performing the skill Rampaging Predator with 200% Black Spirit’s Rage.
    • Fixed the issue where transitioning to combat mode using the ‘Tab’ key in Gardbrace non-combat stance would make Vambrace appear temporarily.
    • Fixed the issue where the Striker’s hair would look unnatural upon equipping Lahr Arcien Helmet.
    • Fixed the issue where skill combo was not allowed when using the skill Fist Fury IV on Mount.
    • Fixed the issue where damage was not being applied normally upon using the skill Hell Break in a combo after the skill Endless Explosion.
    • Fixed the issue where the Striker’s hair stuck out of the Serendian Soldier helmet.
  • Mystic
    • Fixed the issue where the CC skill effects of the Spiral Torpedo were only applied to the first hit only and therefore could not apply CC skill effects on a target that inflicted hit during the skill motion. (However, CC skills do not stack on a single target)
    • Fixed the issue where CC skill effects were applied to hits others than the first hit of the skill Flow: Rib Crusher.
  • Lahn
    • Crimson Glaives, Lahn’s awakening weapon, have been added.
      • If you complete Lahn’s awakening weapon quests, you will be able to use the Crimson Glaives.
    • Lahn Awakening skills have been added.
      • You can press Hotkey C to switch between main and awakening weapons.
      • The attack damage of Awakening skills is determined by main and awakening weapon AP, crystals and accuracy.
      • When you finish all of the Lahn’s awakening weapon quests, you will get the title “Wings of Destruction.”

Item Changes
  • Elion’s Tear has been edited that adventurers with negative Karma will recover 100% of EXP lost as regular adventurers would upon use of the item to resurrect.

  • Item Drop Information under Item Drop in Menu (ESC) has been updated with the changes made to droppable items.

  • Fixed the awkward line spacing issue in the item tooltip of [Event] High-Quality Draught Box.

  • Goblin Chief Summon Scroll has been added to Item Drop list in Manshaum Forest.

  • Krogdalo's Origin Stone has been added to Item Drop list in Mirumok Ruins.

  • Icons of the Mysterious (crop) Seeds and Hypha have been changed.

  • It has been fixed that the obtainable number of Sweet Honey Wine would come out correctly in exchange information of Glimmering Fairy Wing, Brilliant Fairy Wing, and Radiant Fairy Wing.

  • Required number of Palm Plywood and Elder Tree Plywood has been reduced upon Polishing Alchemy Stone of Protection.

Monster Changes
  • Revamped item drops and drop rates in areas for training.
    • In order to highlight characteristics of designated areas, droppable items and drop rates have been edited.
    • Accessories, Black Stone, Scroll Written in Ancient Language, materials for Courser Training, and etc. will drop at varying proportions depending on the designated area. We hope adventurers can enjoy making their choice for which area to train in.
    • Through the optimization process of item drop balance, certain changes were made where some items, that are classified as Main Droppable Items, are increased, while the other items are decreased in drop rate.
    • However, drop rates of accessories in the areas did not drop. (For areas where the accessories are considered main droppable items, the drop rate was increased).
    • Other loot items acquirable from designated areas can be checked through Item Drop tab on Menu (ESC).
  • General sounds of the Giant Chief Gehaku and Giath have been reworked.
    • The boss monsters’ voice, sound effect, and hit sound have been edited.

  • Fixed the issue where the graphics of Contaminated Villager on the Run NPC appeared to be blinking on the move.

  • Fixed the issue where the graphics of Kuku Bird in Calpheon appeared to be blinking.

  • Fixed the issue where the glowing circular effect that showed when equipping gear or outfits was not aligned with the circular line on the Equipment window.

  • Guild (G) window’s default size has been enlarged.

  • Fixed the issue where Challenges icon did not appear on top of the game screen.

Resolved Issues
  • Fixed the issue where some installments (Flame Towers and Hwachas) could not be removed properly during a Node/Conquest war.

  • Fixed the issue where the alert message for an unfair kill appeared during a Node War when killed by a player from an enemy guild.

  • Mitigated the issue where it was possible to teleport even when near a fort upon the start of Node/Conquest War.
    • The character must be at least 150M from the castle to be automatically teleported.
  • Fixed the issue where pressing the “View Another” button without sufficient Energy would bring out an error message and you could not purchase items from the Secret Shop.

  • Fixed the issue where some installments (Flame Towers and Hwachas) could not be removed before the start of a Node/Conquest war.

  • Fixed the issue where interaction (R) was not possible with installments when it was not Node War hours.

  • Fixed the issue where additional Cron Stones were used up when trying Safe Enhance with certain TET level items. Any extra Cron Stones consumed have been restored.

  • Fixed the text issue where quantity of Cron Stones obtainable for opening the item was wrongfully displayed in the item tooltip of [Event] Mystical Golden Egg.

  • Fixed the issue where damage from cannons fired from Galley, Epheria Sailboat or Epheria Frigate was not applied correctly to monsters in the Great Ocean when World Bosses appeared.

  • Fixed the issue where NPCs would greet Guild Masters that have conquered nodes.

  • Fixed the issue where pressing ‘Class’ on Guild Member Status window from Guild (G) menu would align the guild members in the order of ‘Family(Character)’ instead.

  • Fixed the issue where when a worker with Adv. Produce Packing Skill was packing Special Strawberry Crate x5, the skill effect was not applied correctly.

Known Issues
  • We are aware of the issue where Team Battle and Final Battle can be entered within 30 minutes of the World Boss spawn time. This issue will be fixed in next maintenance.

  • We are aware of the issue that Black Magic Crystal is wrongfully listed on the Item Drop list of Desert Naga Temple. This will be fixed in next week's maintenance.

  • We are aware of the issue that Desert Naga Commanding Officer wrongfully drops Black Magic Crystals. This will be fixed in next week's maintenance.

Good news everyone!

When we originally announced the plans change the NA servers to different service we also promised to upgrade the EU servers as well.

As of May 30, 2018 we have upgraded the the EU Database. Our engines are upgraded and even swapped in some fancy new hardware. Our EU community should be experiencing a more smooth and stable game even during peak hours.

We have noticed an improvement in performance, but we want to know what you think!

We are currently aware of an issue preventing users switching servers with an error indicating that they cannot switch servers while a boss has spawned.

This is due to an issue with the game client and the players local system time.

Known Issue

  • If a player's local time currently matches the spawn time of a boss, the player will not be able to change channels during this time.

This is unintentional and we are working as fast as we can for a fix. We do not have a time window to offer you so please keep your eye on our official channels for more info .

My name is Richter and I wanted to formally introduce myself as the newest Community Manager to the Black Desert Online team!

My job is to ensure everyone has a place to discuss BDO in a fun and safe environment.

You may have noticed that we've been making a few changes to the discussion forums and my plan is to clean up our forums so they are overall easier to use and more relevant to the game.

One of my first tasks will be to restructure the way the discussions are organized as well as bringing in some new community moderators.

Monster Changes
  • World Bosses will spawn following the time table below and once a world boss is spawned, PvP will be disabled for 15 minutes. Before, adventurers had to wait a long time for randomly spawning bosses. The fixed time schedule and PvP prevention are set to alleviate such problems and also rid of unnecessary time wasted and harm done amongst players combating each other during a boss spawn. All in all, this would help improve server delays.

  • The following world bosses will now spawn properly in the schedule below:

    • Kzarka, Karanda, Kutum, Nouver, and Offin will spawn in all servers (except Arsha and Olvia servers).
    • Quint and Muraka will also spawn in all servers compared to the previous 20 random servers before (except Arsha and Olvia servers).
    • Vell will spawn in the 10 fixed servers (Balenos 4&5, Serendia 4&5, Calpheon 4&5, Valencia 4&5, and Mediah 4&5.
  • World Bosses will despawn naturally after 15 minutes since appearance.
    • Even if the World Bosses have engaged in battle, they will despawn regardless in 15 mins. from spawn. And as reward loot for the pure action of engaging in combat with World Bosses will be given, we feel this will allow more adventures (both new and loyal) to participate in World Boss battles.
    • This change applies to all world bosses but excludes Vell. Vell will follow the same pattern as before where it will despawn if not engaged in battle for 30 mins., and despawn naturally 1 hr. after initial appearance. Also, Vell will not drop loot if not completely defeated.
  • PvP will not be allowed (in all servers) upon a World Boss spawn.
    • Duel, Forced PvP, Guild war will not be progressed during this period and damage will not be inflicted on other adventurers. Players will not be able to inflict hit in the guild wars under progress.
    • Team Battle and Final Battle will not be registrable 30 mins. before, and 15 mins. after a world boss spawn.
    • Adventurers in Duel will automatically be released from the combat.
    • Only Red Battlefield and Arena of Arsha will be exclusively allowing PvP regardless of the world boss spawn.
  • Server Change is not allowed for 15 minutes after a World Boss spawns.

  • Team Battle and Final Battle participation will be restricted before and after a field boss spawns.

  • Reward loot will be given to all adventurers who have participated in defeating the following world bosses:
    • Kzarka, the Lord of Corruption
    • Nouver
    • Karanda
    • Ancient Kutum
    • Muraka
    • Quint
  • Participants with contribution that fall in the low 10% rank in defeating World Bosses will not be able to acquire the following items from each of the world boss:
    • Kzarka, the Lord of Corruption: Kzarka's Sealed Weapon Box
    • Nouver: Nouver's Sealed Sub-weapon Box
    • Karanda: Dandelion Weapon Box
    • Ancient Kutum: Kutum’s Sealed Sub-weapon Box
    • Mirumok Destroyer Offin: Offin Tett's Light Sealed Weapon Box
  • Reward loot will be obtainable for world bosses even when these world bosses despawn naturally.
    • However, only the adventurers who have inflicted a certain amount of damage will be able to obtain the items.
    • Chance to obtain rare loot items for defeating world bosses (not when they are naturally despawned) has doubled.
  • Nouver will now spawn right after the world message notifying of its appearance is displayed.

  • The following has been changed for the world boss Mirumok Destroyer Offin:
    • Mirumok Destroyer Offin will now awaken right after the world message notifying of its appearance is displayed.
    • Mirumok Destroyer Offin will now despawn if not defeated within 15 minutes.
    • The duration of Mirumok Destroyer Offin going into berserk mode has been changed from 15 mins. to 10 mins.
    • Mirumok Destroyer Offin, Watcher Offin Tett, and Root of Offin’s HPs have decreased by 50% and DPs have decreased by 20%.
    • Offin's Force Shield HP has decreased by 60%.
  • HP of Quint and Muraka has decreased by 40%.

  • Mutant Enhancer dropped as loot have increased from 1~5 to 7~20 pieces for defeating Quint.

  • Fixed issue where the Guild Boss Muskan of Madness did not disappear even after 2 minutes without engaging in combat.


  • Asula’s Weakened Magic Accessories have been newly-added as loot items in the following areas:

  • Fixed the issue where Humpback Whales intermittently did not jump out of the sea and therefore could not receive any damage in the quest ‘Small Humpback Whales Disturbing the Sea.’

Interface Changes
  • Fixed the issue where Settings UI window could not be closed using the ESC key in the log-in window.

  • Fixed the description regarding playtime in BDO in the TIP (gametips) found on the low part of the game window.

  • Fixed the issue where some of the buttons malfunctioned after clicking on Name and Activity of the guild member after setting Guild Bonus.

  • Territory Resource Information and Node War Information on the World Map (M) have been simplified.

  • Next claimable Attendance Rewards will now be displayed in the UI upon on End Game window (Disconnect UI).

  • Fixed the issue where chatting was possible with blocked players.

  • Fixed the issue where other participants were not visible intermittently during Node/Conquest Wars after having the option to hide other adventurers was turned on from Settings → Performance Settings → Optimization (Beta) Hide Other Adventurers.

  • Fixed the issue where all dead monsters appeared to receive hit when a world boss spawned.

  • Fixed the issue where the sacrament from Valtarra: Training Manual could be inflicted damage and destroyed when a world boss spawned.

Known Issues
  • We are aware that additional Cron Stones may be used up when trying Enhancement with certain TET level items. This will be fixed and any extra Cron Stones consumed will be restored in next week’s maintenance.

  • We are aware that clicking a friend’s character name is unresponsive under Friend List window on Friends tab in Menu (ESC). This is being looked into and will be addressed shortly.

  • If a player's local time currently matches the spawn time of a boss, the player will not be able to change servers during this time. Also, players may not gain entry to the servers other than the most recently connected one during this time.

  • Currently, there is a delay with the spawn of world boss Offin and it will spawn 40 minutes later than announced on the time table above until next maintenance.

  • We are aware that the screen may go dark when changing resolutions of the game client window. This is being looked into and we’ll inform your when we have an update.

  • sWe are aware of the issue where installments in Savage Rift cannot inflict damage to monsters.

  • We are aware of the issue where sea monsters cannot be damaged from cannons during a World Boss spawn. This will be resolved in the next maintenance.

  • We are aware of the issue where Taming horse is not possible during a World Boss spawn.

  • We are aware of the issue where sea monsters and Ghost Ships cannot be damaged from cannons during a World Boss spawn. This will be resolved in the next maintenance.

  • We are aware that some installments (Flame Towers and Hwachas) cannot be removed before the start of a Node/Conquest war.
    • It is possible to remove the installments DURING the Node/Conquest War, and annexes will work normally as well.
    • Please pay careful attention in building installments before Node/Conquest War for the time being.
    • This issue will be resolved in next maintenance.

  • Absolute skills have been added to Lahn class.

  • New monsters for Hunting, Giant Mountain Goat, Giant Lioness, and Giant Lion have been added to the north of Arehaza forested area in Valencia.
    • Each of the (hunting) monsters can be defeated by using a Matchlock.
    • New items Stuffed Valencia Mountain Goat Head, Stuffed Valencian Lioness Head, and Stuffed Giant Lion Head have been added.
    • Stuffed head items can be obtained as loot at a chance using a Butcher Knife on the new monsters for Hunting after they are killed and you can install them in your Residence from which you can gain buff effects by interacting with them.
  • Fixed the issue where hiding other characters function was activated abnormally at times during Node/Conquest Wars.

  • Fixed the issue where damage was not being done intermittently when attacking Defense Towers with the horse skill Charge in Node/Conquest Wars.

  • Fixed the issue where guild members did not auto-teleport to the fort of their guild upon start of the node war.
    • However, only the guild members in the Node War area will be teleported.
    • Guild members that are located in Safe Zones or areas exclusive to the Node War are not teleported. In this case, Assemble! function can be used to teleport.

System:
  • Navigation of Heidel Eastern Border area will work properly now.

  • Fixed the issue where audio would not be played upon setting volume to 0, then raising the volume again, from the game starting screen.

  • Fixed the issue where the alert message wrongfully referred to Nouver when Karanda was disappearing due to time out.

  • It has been edited that the display quality in conversation with NPCs would be good even if the quality of the texture is set to Low from Settings -> Display Quality -> Texture Quality.

  • Optimization work has been performed to improve frame in areas of Calpheon, Heidel, and Altinova.

Game World, NPC & Effects

Game World:
  • Fixed the issue where characters could go through railings of Valencia Castle.

  • Fixed the issue where shorter characters would perform swimming in certain parts of Glish Swamp.

  • Fixed the issue where villager NPCs were mistakenly labeled as soldiers in Ibellab Oasis.

Class Changes
  • All Classes
    • It has been adjusted that if a character has a negative Karma and gets killed by a monster, the character’s EXP will decrease by 2%.
    • For Awakening skills with counter features, defense effect has been reapplied, and CC skill effects will not be applied in PvP.
    • Super Armor defense effect has been added to skills that could be performed upon entry into combat. Thus, more engaging combat will be made possible.
    • For Flow skills that are performed in combos after the preceding skills will now maintain the defense effect of the preceding skills.
      • However, if it’s a Flow skill that can be used independently, defense effect will be applied as the other ordinary skills.
    • CC effect has been removed from skills that have defense effects (only in PvE).
      • However, the classes Witch and Wizard will keep the 1 skill of each element type (i.e. fire, earth, water, etc.) that gets to have a CC effect and a defense effect at the same time in consideration to the skills and skill motion’s characteristics in their Awakening mode.

  • Warrior
    • Text of ‘Forward Guard’ has been added to the skill description of the following skills to match with the actual effect of the skills:

    • When a certain level is reached, you can learn Absolute skills for Lahn under Main skill window.
