Greetings Adventurers,

We’ve heard your growing excitement in anticipation of the pre-release of Lahn. Now the time has finally arrived for you to take control of the battlefield like never before with aerial acrobatics and fast paced combat introduced with the Lahn Class.

Additionally, in continuation with the recent balance passes. This week’s maintenance will include changes to the Black Spirit’s Rage ability for all classes. While you’re out putting these new abilities through their paces, be sure to keep an eye on the revamped attendance rewards! Game World, NPC & Effects

Game World:
  • Some of the areas near Calpheon castle and Valencia castle have been changed so that forts and command posts for Conquest war can no longer be built.

Class Changes
  • All Classes
    • Prerequisite requirement of switching to the Awakening weapon in order to learn an Absolute skill has been removed.
    • It has been adjusted that character will be immune to Grapple for 5 sec. after being released from it.
    • To prevent continuous Grapple from being possible, the timing of when CC count for Grapple is applied has been changed.
      Applied simultaneously with Grapple -> Applied when Grapple is released
    • Fixed the issue where additional HP recovery was not being applied intermittently when inflicted hit from a Grapple skill.
    • Recovery rate of Black Spirit’s Rage when receiving hit has been modified.
      • There is a 10% chance of recovering 1% Black Spirit’s Rage when you are hit (the same for PvP and PvE).
      • Now there is a 100% chance of recovering Black Spirit’s Rage when you kill other Character.
    • Damage of Black Spirit’s Rage skills (Pre-awakening and Awakening) has been adjusted. Please refer to the chart below for details:





    • Black Spirit’s Rage Absorption (Common) has been added (Hotkey: Z).
      • Previous Black Spirit’s Rage Absorption has become a special skill and the newly-added Rage Absorption (Special) will increase Attack/Casting Speed and AP upon activation.
      • Press Hotkey: Z in order to activate Black Spirit’s Rage Absorption by locking either the common or special skill.
      • By default it is set as Black Spirit’s Rage Absorption (Common).
    • Defense Effect of skills using Black Spirit’s Rage have been changed:



  • Ranger
    • Extra Hit Damage for the skill Will of the Wind III has been changed as the damage ratio inflicted was lower compared to other levels.
      • 87% ? 93%
    • The text stating Damage reduction will be applied during cooldown during PvE only has been added to the skill description of the skill Absolute: Will of the Wind.
  • Sorceress
    • The aggro effect of pulling in the target will occur less frequently upon using the skill Cartian’s Protection consuming 100% Black Spirit’s Rage.
  • Berserker
    • Moving distance of the skill Shake Off will now be affected by Moving Speed instead of the previous Attack Speed.
  • Tamer
    • The skill Heilang: Surging Tide will be activated in combo for Heilang Lv.1 now.
  • Valkyrie
    • When consuming 200% of Black Spirit’s Rage to use the skill Shining Dash, Super Armor will be applied during hits.
  • Witch
    • Fixed the issue where MP recovered was higher than as stated in the skill description for the Detonative Flow upon a successful hit.
    • Fixed the issue where the skill Detonative Flow could not apply damage on Forts and Annexes during Node/Conquest Wars.
    • Fixed the issue where you could not damage enemies, besides monsters and other adventurers, with the following skills.
      • Blizzard, Ultimate: Blizzard, Detonative Flow
  • Wizard
    • Fixed the issue where you could not damage enemies, besides monsters and other adventurers, with the following skills.
      • Blizzard, Ultimate: Blizzard, Water Sphere, Flow: Aqua Bomb
  • Musa
    • Fixed the issue where the skill Chase was being repetitively activated when there was not enough Stamina.
  • Maehwa
    • Fixed the graphical glitch in the cloth of the leg part and the gem part of the belt for Maehwa with the Rakshande outfit on.
    • Fixed the issue where the skill Chase was being repetitively activated when there was not enough Stamina.
  • Kunoichi
    • Fixed the issue where the last hit was not applying proper damage upon using the skill Lethal Spin Spree consuming 200% Black Spirit’s Rage.
    • Stiffness effect on the last hit has been removed upon using the skill Lethal Spin Spree consuming 200% Black Spirit’s Rage.
    • PVP damage has decreased by 15% upon using the skill Lethal Spin Spree consuming 200% Black Spirit’s Rage.
  • Striker
    • Fixed the issue where the external appearance of a basic helmet was being displayed instead upon equipping Serendian Soldier outfit.
    • Fixed the graphical issue where the bottom part of the outfit seemed to penetrate through the body of the character in certain motions.
    • Description about Super Armor effect has been removed from the skill description of the skill Rising Wolf Fang.
  • Mystic
    • Fixed the graphical glitch in the gem part of the belt for Mystic with the Rakshande outfit on.
    • Fixed the graphical glitch in the Canape Shoes when having it equipped together with Banha outfit.
    • Fixed the graphical issue where the bottom part of the outfit seemed to penetrate through the body of the character in certain motions.
  • Lahn
    • Lahn released!

Item Changes
  • A new type of seeds, “Magical” seeds, have been added.
    • If you are Farming Artisan 1 or up, you can get Magical seeds by Farming Special seed/hypha using Plant Breeding.
    • To use Harvest or Plant Breeding on crop grown from Magical seeds, your character must be Farming Artisan 1 or up.
    • Magical seeds take up 5 times the usual amount of grid space, but give 5 times the amount of harvest in return.
    • You only get Fruits from using Plant Breeding on crop grown from Mysterious seeds, but you will get Magical seeds from using Plant Breeding on crop grown from Magical seeds, with a certain chance to also get Fruits.
  • A new formula to gain Mysterious Seeds and Mysterious Hyphae through Shaking -> Processing (L) using Magical Seeds and Magical Hyphae has been added.
    • This formula has been added to the item description of the Mysterious Seed items.
  • Description regarding 100% Enhancement Chance has been added to the item description of General’s Accessories and Fierce Fighting Spirit Stone.

  • Description regarding tier of the horse has been added to the Challenges (Y) reward ‘Horse Emblem: Lv. 40 Reward’ which could be earned for reaching Lv.40.

Monster Changes
  • Hunter’s Seal x5 have been added to the reward loot obtainable from the following field bosses:
    • Red Nose, Dastard Bheg, Dim Tree Spirit, Giant Mudster
  • New pool of monsters has been added to Mirumok Ruins and placements of some of the monsters have been changed.

  • Asula's Crimson Eye accessories enhanced up to DUO (II) level will now be obtainable as loot in parts of the following areas of Mediah:
    • Elric Shrine, Helms Post, Abandoned Iron Mine
  • Fixed the awkward movement of the Goblin Fighters and Goblin Throwers near Ehwaz Hill.

Quests & Knowledge

Quest:
  • More Peridot Leaf will be obtainable now through Daily Quests in Kamasylvia. Please refer to the chart below for details:

  • Suggested quest names displayed in the Quests window (Hotkey: o) has been edited to show more detailed information.
    • Rewards obtainable for completing the quests have been added.
    • You can mouse over the each quest list to see the full text.
  • Contribution point restriction has been removed from the acceptance condition of the daily quests available in Valencia City.

  • Amended the awkward text in the quest summary of [Ninja] Narusawa's Sura Katana - Practice.

  • Conversation has been added with Shady Tree Forest Node Manager Arteedman so that the node can be discovered if Shady Tree Forest node cannot be obtained through the regular route.

  • Gold Key will now be exchangeable through a quest and not through conversation with Morco.
    • At least 1 Silver Key must be in the Inventory (I) in order for you to accept the quest.

Interface Changes
  • Fixed the issue where item quantity in other region’s storage list appeared intermittently as 0 when interacting with a Storage NPC to open storage.

Resolved Issues
  • Fixed the issue where the skill Fury Transfer could not be locked.

  • Fixed the issue where characters located in node war areas could not move to the Forts of the affiliated guild intermittently at the start of the node war.

  • Fixed the issue where the castle gate lever could be damaged and destroyed by the attack of Summoned creatures during Conquest War.

  • Fixed the issue where Renown Score was not updated in real time when the equipped gear was destroyed or repaired.

Known Issues
  • We are aware that Floating effect is not being applied properly for the skill Soaring Kick of the Tamer and this will be fixed in the next regular maintenance.

  • We are aware of the text issue for the item description of [Lahn] Orchid Fall Classic Set where Awakening Weapon is mentioned to be included in the classic set. This is a text issue and will be fixed shortly. Please be aware the [Lahn] Orchid Fall Classic Set does not contain an Awakening Weapon.

Content:
  • Thanks to all your support and feedback, the event It’s Raining Enhancement will become a regular addition to the game.
    • Continue to defeat monsters of each region and enjoy the chance to loot +15 gear (Main/Sub/Defense ger) as well as PRI or DUO accessories (earrings, rings, necklaces, belts) of Green and higher Grade.


    • Enhanced gear can only be obtained by defeating normal monsters in the world and these gear items cannot be obtained from World, Field, or Bosses summoned from Boss scrolls.
    • As the event has become permanent, enhanced gear and accessories' drop rates have decreased by 50% from the rate before.
  • Fixed the issue where it was possible to attack and be attacked from inside and outside the castle Gate during Conquest Wars.
    • However, cannon attacks can still inflict damage through the castle Gates.
  • Construction Knowledge, a worker skill previously used for construction of node and conquest war towers, has been changed to Adept Worker.
    • Obtained Construction Knowledge of the worker has changed as well.
    • Construction Knowledge: Fort/Command Post Construction Speed +5 →Adept Worker: Work Speed +2, Movement Speed +7%

Update:
  • Number of servers that the following field bosses spawn have been readjusted to 20 servers:
    • Red Nose
    • Dastard Bheg
    • Dim Tree Spirit
    • Giant Mudster
      • We will continue to make adjustments to field/world boss time schedule and spawn servers to provide optimal environment for boss hunting

System:
  • Fixed the issue where the alert message incorrectly referred to Nouver when Muraka and Quint were disappearing due to time out.

  • Fixed the issue where HP was not recovered properly upon using Instant HP Potion when immobilized from CC attacks.

  • Fixed the issue where the enemy Guild’s mounts could not be attacked before discovering the enemy’s fort.

Game World, NPC & Effects

NPC:
  • Fixed the issue where the viewpoint of the camera was awkward when interacting with a village in Grána City.

Class Changes
  • All Classes
    • The distance a character moves when hit by Knockdown or Knockback has been reduced and the motion became smoother.
    • Fixed the issue where damage was not being applied properly for a specific period of time after Stiffness and Knockback motions.
  • The distance a character moves when hit by Knockdown or Knockback has been reduced.
    • There has been instances where, depending on internet connection, there was a discrepancy in how the game server and client registered the location of characters. This was especially noticeable when a character was hit by knockdown or knockback and got up rapidly. We have confirmed that if we reduced the distance the character moves in these situations, the fluidity of movement greatly improved.
  • Only the first hit of a skill will now give CC effects (Knockdown, Floating, Bound, Knockback, Stiffness, Stun, Freeze). These effects will not be influenced by evasion.
    • Until now it was inevitable that no matter how high your CC effect stats were you felt that they were not as effective as they should be. This was because CC effects were being repeatedly triggered for every hit from an attack skill. For example, if your Knockdown Resistance was 60%, and after five successful hits inflicted by the enemy which meant your Evasion failed every time, the effective resistance could fall as low as 7.7%. On the other hand, all Grapple skills had CC effects only applied once, at the first hit. Therefore, Grapple Resistance was applied as you would expect. This was a reason why there was a gap between those who played classes with mainly Grapple skills and those who didn't.
    • In the current system, if a character successfully evades an attack, then all damage related to CC effects will not be applied. Therefore, back when high accuracy was harder to get, if you had high evasion you could move around freely almost as if it was a bug, even when battling many opponents at once. To mitigate this situation, we have made all CC effects be visualized for each hit individually and have reduced the resistance chances. Therefore, when you are the attacker you should get a clear feedback on the attacks, which should a positive effect on improving the impact feel of the game.
    • Even if the existing rules of evasion stats remain the same, as we have explained earlier, we predict that the efficiency will increase. Therefore, we are looking to change the rules of evasion. From now on, attack damage will only be affected in evasion stats, and CC effects will only be affected in CC resistance effects. That is, when a target is inflicted a hit, both damage and CC may be applied, only damage or CC may be applied, or none of the damage of CC may be applied. For those of you who worked to increase both CC resistance and evasion, we predict that you won't feel a big difference from before.
  • In addition, now when hit by the CC effect and additional attack effect (e.g. Down Smash) of the same skill, only one effect, suitable for that situation, will be applied. For example, when using Warrior’s Ground Smash on a standing enemy Bound effect will be applied but not Down Smash. If the enemy is down on the ground, Down Smash will be applied, not Bound and the word “Immune” will appear on the screen.

  • Resource consumption has changed to Stamina consumption for Warrior’s skill Head Chase, Ranger’s skill Wind Step, and Kunoichi/Ninja’s skill Ghost Step.

  • In addition, Stamina consumption for Musa/Maehwa’s skill Chase has been adjusted.

  • Last week, all classes had defense effects (Forward Guard, Super Armor, Invincible) removed from some of their skills. It has become harder for melee classes to get through the attacks of ranged classes. To mitigate this issue, we have changed the defense effects or CC effects of some ranged attack skills and movement Main skills. Also, some skills that greatly influence large-scale PvP have been adjusted.

Upcoming Changes
  • The AP of all summoned beings will be increased. This is to bring back relevance for summoned beings after all the class specs were increased in general and summoned beings became relatively weaker.

  • Currently, the duration and damage of Black Spirit skills are different per class. To reduce the influence of the difference in such skills’ efficiency that affected class balance, we plan to adjust the damage of Black Spirit skills. In the process, some classes’ PvP damage will be lowered to some extent. Together with that change, the rules for for gaining Black Spirit's Rage will be changed. Currently, every time you are attacked there will be a 50% chance of gaining 1%. You will also get 1% for each enemy defeated. We are planning on a new change which will make accumulating Black Spirit’s Rage slower, but in return, the skill will be applied with a special defense effect which will make your character gain the upper hand even when you are attacked with CC skills. We will be giving further details in future announcements.

  • On the May 9th balance patch, the defense effects from certain skills were removed. In response, many adventurers felt that this meant that PvP battles would end too fast. Therefore, in order to prolong PvP battles so you have more time to enjoy them, we plan to reduce the PVP damage of all classes by an identical rate.

  • We are planning to add a new Black Spirit's Rage Absorption (Common) skill. The existing Black Spirit's Rage Absorption skill will be maintained as each classes’ unique skill. The new Rage Absorption (Common) skill will increase AP and Attack/Casting Speed. You can chose which Rage Absorption skill you want in the Skill window (K) and lock the one you do not want to use. If you do not chose, the new Rage Absorption (Common) will be used by default.

  • After internal testing, we have decided to that implementing the rule “One skill cannot have both a CC effect (Stiffness, Stun, Knockdown, etc.) and defense effect (Front Guard, Super Armor, Invincible) simultaneously" should be put on hold. This was because we have decided that this would make the game significantly harder. We will continue to test and brainstorm to bring you all a set of combat rules that would be enjoyable for you.

  • We want to extend our thanks to all adventurers who have stood by us in the past 4 weeks of changes made to Black Desert Online. We will endeavor to create a much more enjoyable Black Desert Online and starting next week, we will focus on polishing on each class in a more sequential manner to elaborate the class balance in detail.
  • Warrior
    • Forward Guard effect for the skill Frenzied Spear has been removed.
    • Fixed the issue where the Warrior took on a kick motion even when there were not targets around while using the skill Charging Thrust.
    • Resource consumption has been changed to Stamina for the skill Head Chase.
  • Ranger
      Forward Guard effects for the skills Extreme: Charging Wind, Ultimate: Charging Wind, and Absolute: Charging Wind have been removed.
    • Fixed the issue where Evasive Shot would not be activated upon using the skill Razor Wind if Ultimate: Evasive Shot was learned, and Evasive Shot will also be activated faster now.
    • Damage reduction effect in PvE and PvP has been applied during cooldown of the skills Will of the Wind (A/D + F) I ~ V activated with Ultimate: Evasive Shot.
    • Damage reduction effect in PvE only has been applied during cooldown of the skill Absolute: Will of the Wind (A/D + F) activated with Ultimate: Evasive Shot.
    • Super Armor effect for the skill Roaring Arrow has been removed.
    • Invincible effect has been changed to Super Armor effect for the skill Flow: Call from Sky.
    • Fixed the issue where the skill Blasting Gust would be activated after a successful hit of Pinpoint or Dash Kick even when Flow: Pinpointing Gust I and Flow: Pinpointing Gust II were not learned.
    • Super Armor effect for all levels of the skill Blasting Gust has been removed.
    • Damage Reduction effect has been added to the cooldown of the skill Absolute: Blasting Gust.
    • Description of the skill Ultimate: Blasting Gust has been edited.
      • Knockdown on a good hit (Effect nullified during cooldown) → Knockdown on a good last hit (Effect nullified during cooldown)
    • Resource consumption has been changed to Stamina for the skill Wind Step. (100 Stamina consumed)
    • Stamina consumption for the skill Evasive Shot has been changed.
  • Sorceress
    • Stamina will no longer recover when the skill Nightmare is in effect.
    • Stiffness effect will now be applied when the skill Dream of Doom is used instantly upon learning the skill Imminent Doom.
    • Knockdown effect will now only be applied in PvE for the skill Abyssal Blow.

  • Berserker
    • The following has changed for the skill Shake Off.
      • Invincible effect has changed to Super Armor effect.
      • Moving distance has increased when skill level goes up even in Iron Buster mode.
    • Knockdown effect will only be applied in PvE now for the skill Flow: Shooting Mobility.
    • The skill Ground Lifting will now activate at the same speed, not depending on the moving distance, after using the skill Lava Piercer.
    • Fixed the graphical glitch in the arms of the Berserker upon equipping Kibelius Iron Buster and Bheg’s Gloves.
  • Tamer
    • The skill Rain Curtain will now be auto-activated when attacked while moving backwards in Celestial Bo Staff mode.
  • Valkyrie
    • Attack damage in PvP (against other classes) has decreased by 6.6%.
      • Valkyrie and Warrior are the only classes that utilize the shield in Black Desert Online. With the advantage of wielding the shield, they are immune to all CC effects from all directions once they are on guard. Besides this advantage, Valkyrie has had an even greater increase in DP when on Forward Guard which makes her sturdier than the Warrior. Hence, her AP had to be adjusted by lowering damage in PvP only in order to balance the class out.
    • Stamina will no longer be recovered during the skill motion of the skill Promptness.
    • Stamina consumption has increased to 200 for the skill Promptness.
    • Cooldown for the skill Celestial Cry has increased from 40 sec. to 60 sec.
    • Super Armor for the skill Celestial Spear has been removed.
    • Super Armor for the skill Celestial Smite has been removed.
    • Cooldown for the skill Elion's Blessing has increased from 150 sec. to 240 sec.
    • Stamina will now be consumed instead of SP for the skill Death Line Chase:
      • SP 35 → Stamina 150
  • Witch
    • PvP damage for the skill Absolute: Blizzard has decreased by 11%.
    • Super Armor effect for the skill Sage’s Light has been removed.
    • Cooldown for the skill Protected Area has been increased.

    • Fixed the phenomenon where party members in non-combat mode went into hit motion when using the skill Protected Area.
    • The Moving Speed, Attack Speed, Casting Speed reduction effect will be applied in longer intervals for the skill Blizzard.
      • The debuff effect which used to be applied for each hit will only be applied when a certain motion effect during the skill is occuring.
    • Damage will be distributed depending on the number of targets that are inflicted hit, if inflicted to more than 2 targets, for the following skill:
      • Blizzard
    • Damage of the skill Detonative Flow when inflicting hit on a target will be decreased by 5% per target, meaning the first target will receive full damage whereas the next targets would receive 5% less that of the previous target. This will only apply if the skill inflicts hit on more than 2 targets and the damage will be reduced down to 70% as the limit.
      • For example, if 7 or more targets are inflicted hit, the first target would receive 100% of the damage, the second 95%, third 90%, fourth 85%, fifth 80%, sixth 75%, and seventh and next targets would receive 70% of the damage (Only in PvP).
    • The text ‘Floating on good explosion hits’ has been removed from the skill description of the skill Fissure Wave.
    • Cooldown of the skill Spellbound Heart has decreased.
      • 600 sec. → 60 sec.
  • Wizard
    • PvP damage for the skill Absolute: Blizzard has decreased by 11%.
    • Super Armor effect for the skill Sage’s Light has been removed.
    • Cooldown for the skill Protected Area has been increased.

    • Resource consumption has been changed to Stamina for the skill Ghost Step.

    • It’s been adjusted that only Floating effect can be applied when performing the skill Ninjutsu: Block Jump in a combo using the left directional key whereas before, it was troublesome before as both Stiffness and Floating can be applied.
    • Fixed the issue where Attack Speed +5% boost for 10 sec. for the skill Absolute: Ghost Greeting was not being applied properly.
    • Fixed the issue where Stiffness effect did not take into effect intermittently when using the skill Murderous Intent.

  • DP of monsters in Aakman Temple decreased by 3%.

  • Monsters appearing in waves of Savage Rift will now appear with improved Evasion effect.
    • The enhanced Evasion effect of the monsters will disappear 5 sec. after appearance.
  • Voraro of Narc Brishka that spawns from Manshaum Narc’s Stone or Awakened Manshaum Chief Summon Scroll will not apply Knockdown to a character that approaches it during its constant jumping motion.

  • The following has changed for Narc Brishka which summons from a Manshaum Narc’s Stone.
    • Narc Briska’s HP was decreased by 10%.
    • The constant jumping attack pattern of the Voraro that summons from Narc Brishka will be inflicted up to a maximum of twice. (Not the actual jumping motion but the attack pattern frequency decreased).
    • The Voraro that summons from Narc Brishka will no longer Knockback characters nearby.

  • Navigation to the completion target NPC will be activated properly during cart transport of the quest ‘The Shen Merchants Guild’s Resources.’

Interface Changes
  • When using Recharge Alchemy Stone, the amount needed to recharge can now be previewed upon registering the materials.

  • When climbing on a Wooden Fence, only the Wooden Fence’s Durability will appear now.

  • It’s been fixed that only the HP of the Wooden Fence would show up right above the character’s HP bar when climbing on top of the Wooden Fence.

  • Fixed the issue where a misleading message stating ‘Guild Bonus can only be claimed when a region is occupied’ would be shown when a character not registered to a guild pressed Hotkey (G).

  • Fixed the intermittent client crashing issue when passing by buildings.

  • Fixed the issue where a character would get stuck in between structures in Hystria Ruins.

Event & System

Event:

Game World, NPC & Effects

Content:

As a PvP exclusive server, the Arsha server has different rules than the other servers. We wanted the Arsha server to provide a fun and unique PvP environment for you adventurers. However, because of the balance changes recently being made to BDO we felt that keeping the Arsha server different from other servers would result in the PvP combat there not being competitive enough. Therefore, we have decided to change the PvP system in the Arsha server to be the same as those in the other servers. The changes will be as follows. We are planning to implement special features suitable for a PVP exclusive server at a later date.
  • You will no longer be able to activate Down Guard by pressing Shift while your character is down in the Arsha server.

  • Like in the other servers, debuff will now be applied continuously only up to 2 times.
The defense effects (Super Armor, Invincibility Forward Guard) that all classes have for some of the Awakening skills have changed to be more intuitive, or removed. While we were developing class Awakenings, we wanted to design the Awakening skills in a way so that you adventurers could combat more easily and enjoyably. Therefore, we made Awakening skills different from Main skills by having a much fewer number of skills. These skills gave a good variety of strong effects. In the process, because we wanted to emphasize class individuality, different classes had different numbers of defense effect skills.

Each defense effect skills had different cooldown times. We wanted to prevent the possibility of characters becoming near invincible long periods of time. After we had feedback from you adventurers, we have made balance change. These changes included reducing the delay before/after skills and increasing the duration of defense effects. Despite it not being any of our intentions, after these changes some classes emerged with the ability to constantly maintain defense effects. These classes became very powerful in PvP.

In addition, because the conditions for defense effects being applied differed per class, it became difficult to counter an opponent’s defense effects without having memorized the defense effects of that opponent’s class. We wanted to mitigate this issue through several balance changes, but we have reached the conclusion that unless the fundamental rules are changed this will be difficult.

Therefore, we have made the following changes to the rules of defense effects so that you adventurers can make decisions in combat more fluidly and intuitively.
  • Skills shared commonly by all classes will have equal defense effects. That means that the Forward guard effect when changing between Main and Awakening stances and the Super Armor effect from Awakening buff skills will be applied the same for all classes.

  • Skills that require charging will have defense effects cancelled once charging is over and the skill is in effect. However, Super Armor or Forward Guard will continue to be applied during the charging stage.

  • Skills that make characters invisible will have an Invincible effect. However, the existing buffs or effects will be applied the same for the movement skills.

  • After the changes, all classes will be left with 3-4 Awakening skills with defense effects.
The defense effects (Invincible, Super Armor, Forward Guard) of the following Awakening skills will be changed. Many Awakening skills have defense effects. However, there has been a gap caused by some classes being able to maintain defense effects continuously and some not being able to do so. To bring balance, we have adjusted each class’s defense effects.
  • Warrior (Skills with defense effect(s): Grave Digging: Flow: Slashing the Dead, Head Chase)
    • Only during guard state will debuff resistance effect be applied.
    • The Super Armor and HP gain effects applied for a certain time after using Great Sword Defense or Guard have been removed.
    • Super Armor has been added to the description of the skill Executioner.
    • Forward Guard effect has been removed from the following Skills:
      • Pulverize, Flow: Tempest, Armor Break
    • Super Armor effect has been removed from the following Skill:
      • Burning Moxie
  • Sorceress (Skills with defense effect(s): Shadow Leap, Cartian's Nightmare, Nightmare)
    • Super Armor effect has been added to Grim Reaper.
    • Super Armor effect will only be applied when charging Grim Reaper's Judgment.
    • Only while invisible by using Nightmare will Invincible effect be applied.
    • Forward Guard effect has been removed from the following Skills:

We would like to also inform you about changes we plan to implement next week.
As we have explained earlier, we want to make PvP more fun and intuitive. To do this, we have decided that it should not be possible for one skill to have both CC and defense effects.

Therefore, we expect to change skills with CC effects and certain Main skills with defense effects for all classes. We are also considering removing CC effects from certain Awakening skills.

Our development team wants you adventurers, with the help of such changes, to be able to more quickly determine your opponent's situation in PvP. We predict that with these changes, teamwork will become more of a deciding factor in determining PvP victory.

There has been instances where, depending on internet connection, there has been a discrepancy in how the game server and client register the location of characters. This is especially noticeable when a character is hit by knockdown or knockback, and the character seems to have moved a relatively long distance within a very short amount of time. We have confirmed that if the distance in between characters is shorter when knocked down or back, this phenomenon is greatly resolved. Therefore, we are preparing for to apply such a fix to the live server.

Black Desert Online in the beginning aimed to embody the uniqueness of every class by giving each class an intrinsic starting stats.
For instance, Warrior had Damage Reduction higher, Sorceress had Evasion higher, Ranger had higher Movement Speed, and Berserker had higher HP.
In other words, some stats. were set lower for each class compared to other classes.
Black Spirit’s Rage Absorption was originally designed to fill up these differences and shortcomings of each class.
In addition, Black Spirit’s Rage Absorption also served to highlight certain forte of each class to create an ample experience of combat.

However, Black Spirit’s Rage Absorption did not receive much amendments even when class balance steps were taking place.
Not only did this add on to creating bigger differences among other classes, but it also created differences with same classes where an adventurer with specific gear setting had an advantage and higher efficiency.

In order to mitigate such differences, we tried to implement an instant buff which would give great strength to all classes for a short period of time.
But we ultimately parked this idea as many of our adventurers voiced their opinion on the importance of keeping to the uniqueness of each class.
With the feedback we’ve received, we will take time and hold off on the changes for the time being.
We will take time to develop more changes to to hopefully appease more of you adventurers while not losing the individuality of each class and come back to you once again.

※ The changes we had planned to implement originally were as follows. As such changes have been called off now, the actual implementations are listed on the left.



Finally, we have done internal testing on the CC effect activation method and evasion/resistance effect changes we announced last week. We have decided that they need more work and have decided to put their implementation on hold. However, we still hope to finish working on them soon and implement them in a timely manner.
  • Depending on the Fame of a character under the Territory Information (Available from the territory icon in World Map [M]), the Renown Score will also increase.
    • Level 1 - Newcomer : No Renown Score bonus
    • Level 2 - Stranger : Renown Score +1
    • Level 3 - Buddy : Renown Score +2
    • Level 4 - Reliable : Renown Score +3
    • Level 5 - Famous : Renown Score +5
      • The Renown Score bonus will be given based on the territory of the highest Fame of the character.
      • The Renown Score bonus based on the Fame of the character can be checked on Renown Score section under Inventory (I) and it can be displayed with +n.
      • Fame of the character of each Territory can increase upon obtaining Amity from NPCs located in the relevant Territory.
  • Sprouting, to give new wings to the Fairy to help it become wiser, has been newly added.
    • If you succeed in Sprouting, your Fairy will tierlevel up but the level and previously-acquired skills will be reset. You cannot restore your Fairy to the version before using Sprouting, please make sure to try it with caution.
    • Once the Fairy reaches its max level, a chance to attempt Sprouting will be given and if failed, you can try Sprouting again only after the Fairy has gone through Rebirth and has reached max level again.
    • Sweet Honey Wine or Ornette’s Dark Honey Wine are needed to attempt Sprouting and the more items used, the higher success chance of Sprouting will be.
  • Fairy Rebirth has been added.
    • Fairy Rebirth involves two different types of rebirth process you can choose from: Reset Growth or Reset Persona.
    • If you try Reset Growth, the Fairy will be given a new attempt to try Sprouting but at the same time, the Fairy’s level and previously-acquired skills will be reset.
    • If you try Reset Persona, the current Tone of the Fairy will randomly change to a different Tone, but the level and skills of the Fairy will remain the same.
    • When trying Rebirth, the item Fairy Queen’s Might is required.
  • Fixed the issue where it seemed like there was a gap between the player character and the cargo of Epheria Sailboat when the character leaned on the cargo.

  • Medium/Large Siege Tower’s moving speed (in Conquest Wars) has increased by 50%.

  • Level setting of each guild members receiving Guild Bonus will now be saved.
    • This is applied with the next Guild Bonus distributed after this regular maintenance.
  • Guild contract and contract renewal will now include offering periods of 180 days and 365 days.

  • Fixed the issue where items could be taken out from the Storage Maid ignoring the description ‘You cannot move heavy items (more than 100 LT)’ written on the items.

  • It’s been adjusted so that items claimable for defeating bosses and the items claimable for clearing each wave in the Savage Rift will be collectively rewarded as a package into your mailbox. Silver rewards will be rewarded separately.

  • Silver obtainable from Savage Rift for defeating bosses of certain stages have been increased and the chance to obtain Black Stones and Mutant Enhancer has increased as the following items will no longer drop as loot:
    • Imp Amulet Ornament, Imp's Torn Ornament, Red Nose’s Blade Fragment, Broken Goblin Amulet, Giath’s Mask Fragment, Altar Imp’s Trumpet, Altar Imp’s Flag, Bheg’s Iron Mace Fragment, Fogan Webfoot, Red Orc Fang, Red Orc Nose Ring, HP Potion (Medium), and Metal Armor Fragment.

Monster Changes
  • Fixed the issue where the character could be CCed infinitely when inflicted hit by a certain monster. Monsters will also be inflicted CC effected twice like it would in PVP.

  • Fixed the issue where Elte in Mediah Northern Highlands could not be hit because of being stuck in between the rocks.

  • The trackable distance of Griffon, King Griffon, and Black Leopard has decreased by 20%.
    • Griffon, King Griffon, and Black Leopard, have had their HP increased by 20%, AP increased by 6%, and DP increased by 8%.
  • Voraro of Narc Brishka that spawns from Manshaum Narc’s Stone or Awakened Manshaum Chief Summon Scroll will now apply Knockdown on the very first hit in its constant jumping motion and not apply CC or release your guard stance afterwards.

Quests & Knowledge
  • Fixed the issue where the quest icon of Mediah quest ‘Luck Test II’ appeared differently from the quest summary.

Interface Changes
  • The icon for Wharf Transport has been changed.

  • Fixed the issue where a message stating penalty will be applied appeared in the War Status section of the Guild window upon declaring guild wars.

  • Fixed the issue where the price was not displaying correctly for Imperial Fishing Delivery trade goods in the Trade Info UI.

  • Fixed the text going out of bounds issue on the names of the listed items on the Imperial Auction House.

    • Mirumok Destroyer Offin will appear in all servers except for Olvia growth and PvP Servers.

    • A world message will be shown notifying the appearance of Mirumok Destroyer Offin and the actual boss will come out 30 minutes after the message.
    • After the world message of the appearance of Mirumok Destroyer Offin is displayed, it is not possible to interact with Offin using the Ancient Contract: Mirumok Watcher.
    • World Boss Mirumok Destroyer Offin is much stronger than Guild Boss Mirumok Destroyer Offin.
    • In the occasion that you are in the middle of a Guild raid against Guild Boss Mirumok Destroyer Offin when the world message appears, a time attack mode will start where the Guild Boss would disappear if you failed to defeat it within 15 minutes.
    • Please keep in mind that it would be ideal that you summon the Guild Boss Mirumok Destroyer Offin much before the spawn time of World Boss Mirumok Destroyer Offin so that you do not need to deal with the 15 minute time attack.
    • Attacking Root of Offin and the protective shield covering Offin Tett (Offin’s Force Shield) is the most effective way to engage in battle with this world boss.
    • The attack range of Watcher Offin Tett’s motion of shooting out massive energy ball will be marked.
    • If failed in defeating them in 15 minutes after they are spawned, a message “Offin has completely absorbed the spirit’s energy and has become stronger.” will appear, and they will go berserk mode where their attack power will increase dramatically.
    • If Offin’s Force Shield is destroyed, the energy that Offin had absorbed will be dispersed so they cannot go berserk mode. If they are already enraged when the Shield is destroyed, they will go back to their non-berserk mode..
    • The top 30 adventurers who contributed the most in destroying the Root of Offin will, in addition to the loots you can get for destroying Offin, get a chance to obtain Offin’s Tendril or Offin Tett’s Light Fragment.
    • The protective shield that guards Offin Tett can only be damaged with a Hunting Matchlock. Top 30 adventurers who contributed the most in destroying the protective shield will, in addition to the loots you can get for destroying Offin, get a chance to obtain Forest Fury or Offin Tett’s Light Fragment.
    • Once Mirumok Destroyer Offin is destroyed, Offin Tett's Light Sealed Weapon Box, Valtarra Eclipsed Belt, Forest Fury, or JIN/BON/WON Magic Crystal - Cobelinus may drop at a certain rate.
  • The height of Wooden Fence and Medium Siege Tower has been increased and is now about 30% higher.
    • If you are behind Wooden Fences, you should not take damage from the following skills, though terrain elevation and character placement may still allow you to be damaged:
      • Blizzard, Meteor Shower, Thunder Storm, Bolide of Destruction, Wolf’s Frenzy, Sea Burial.
    • You may still be damaged by Flame Towers.

System:
  • Fixed the issue where the alert message has Nouver’s background even when Ancient Kutum was disappearing due to time out.

  • Fixed the issue where the reset system message for Imperial Delivery was not being displayed.

Game World, NPC & Effects

NPC:
  • Fixed the issue where some Soldiers in Heidel City were called Villagers.

  • Fixed the awkward camera angle while talking to a Giant Soldier in Heidel City.

Mounts
  • Fixed the wrong description of Epheria Frigate: Zafina Cannon.

Class Changes
  • All Classes
    • Freezing will now take into consideration the count system of CC skills. As with Stun, Knockback, and Knockdown, Freezing will have a count of 1.
      • Stiffness: 0.7/1 (Count limit)
        [+]Stun, Knockback, Knockdown, Floating, Bound, Grapple, Freezing: 1 (Count limit).
      • Immune for 5 sec. if CC skill is applied twice.
    • Damage increase rate of Air Attack has been decreased. Though it was difficult for Air Attack to be activated before, this has been made easier due to the changes in the CC skill effect applications. As a result, Air Attack damage increase rate has been adjusted but the changes are not great due to the fact that there still are requirements for Air Attack to be activated.
      • During PvP, an additional 30% will be decreased from the damage rate stated above. This is same as before.
    • Damage inflicted from the following Grapple skills has been increased.
      • Most Grapple skills were originally designed to provide competitiveness in PvP (typically 1 vs. 1 combats), but as CC skill effect application has been adjusted, this advantage has been diminished. Thus damage has been increased greatly and it is possible for Grapple skills to be used in combos as effective skills themselves.








    • Fixed the issue that created a birth mark for Warrior, Ninja, and Witch in Beauty (F4) when their lip make-up area was at maximum.
  • Warrior
    • Fixed the issue where Charging Slash was activated upon using LMB to move forward during Guard stance if you have only learned up to Charging Slash I.
      • Using LMB while moving forward during Guard stance after having learned Charging Slash I, Charging Slash II, or Absolute: Charging Slash will activate Charging Slash.
    • Fixed the issue where Charging Slash was activated upon using LMB to move forward during Guard stance if you have only learned up to Charging Slash I.
    • As the skill Double Take Down’s motion has been changed to be taking down a target on ground only once, the skill name has changed to reflect this.
      • Double Take Down → Apprehend
    Ranger
    • Guard will now be able to be applied even when back-stepping in Awakening Weapon mode.
    • Fixed the issue where Stamina was consumed twice upon using the skill Vine Knot.
    • Fixed the issue where you could not use Ultimate: Evasive Shot mid-air after using Evasive Explosion Shot.
  • Sorceress
    • Fixed the issue where using Midnight Stinger while having learned Guilty Conscience and/or Eruption of Guilt would recover HP of the inflicted target.
    • Fixed the issue where the Le Vladian Underwear would appear to be stretched out or graphically broken in attack mode.
  • Berserker
    • Fixed the issue where only 4 out of 7 targets were being inflicted hits for the Flow: Ancient Wave charging skill.
    • Guard will now be able to be applied even when back-stepping in Main Weapon and Awakening Weapon mode.
    • PvP damage of the skill Flow: Slugfest has been decreased by 13.9%.
    • Fixed the issue where “Down Attack” was missing from the description of the skill Flow: Ancient Wave.
    • Fixed the issue where “Down Attack” was missing from the description of the skill Flow: General Disarray.
    • Connecting with other skills has become smoother after using Elastic Force while moving left and right.
    • Fixed the issue where you could not use Headbutt and Beastly Wind Slash right after Ultimate: Storming Beast.

    • The hit effect on the target of the skill Smack Down IV will now be displayed properly.

Monster Changes
  • Monsters will appear more naturally after killing birds for Hunting such as Seagull and Eagle.

  • Fixed the issue where you could collect Silver twice upon defeating Giath from Goblin Chief Summon Scroll for the daily quest.

  • Relocated the Wooden Beehives in Hexe Sanctuary which could not be damaged because they were too close to the ground.

  • Fixed the distance between the Black Leopards in Kamasylvia so that they can have some space between each other.


  • Fixed the attack range of Lapis Lazuli Tree Spirit that was smaller than it looked.

  • The attack range of Kamasylvia Black Leopards has been adjusted.

Quests & Knowledge
  • Quests where you can exchange Offin Tett’s Light Fragment x10 for a Offin Tett's Light Sealed Weapon Box have been added.
    • The relevant quests can be accepted from Dikzipo the Blacksmith of Grána when you visit him with at least Offin Tett’s Light Fragment x5 with a character of Lv.56 and higher.
  • The prerequisites for the following quests will now be displayed correctly.
    • [Repeat] Useful Junk
    • [Repeat] Disgusting Guys
    • [Repeat] Already Dead
  • Fixed the NPC script from the quest Ardan’s Broken Gemstone #2.

Interface Changes
  • Fixed the issue where the Marketplace and Processing windows would open up at the same time at Storage.

  • It has been adjusted that closing Inventory would close Mount Inventory together in Storage.

  • Guild Bonus settings window has been improved.
    • The space between guild members has been expanded in the list, and a line has been added to separate each member.
  • Renown score icon will be displayed under My Information (P) Window.

Resolved Issues
  • Fixed the issue where characters appeared to move underground in certain parts of the Calpheon region.

Known Issues
  • We are currently aware of the issue of BDO TV not working properly in the in-game menu (ESC) and this will be fixed with next week’s maintenance.
