Passpartout: The Starving Artist - fatcat622

Bonjour, Benjamin here!🥖🍷

You might be wondering what I've been doing since the events of the first chapter in the Passpartout saga. Here is my story so far:

After witnessing the rise of Passpartout I grew tired of the loud, rancid streets of Paris and wanted something more fulfilling; a purpose. I needed a chance to grow and help others do the same. I spoke with my wise grandfather about what to do. He recommended I move to Corsica to work as a humble tangerine farmer to gain some perspective and wisdom. With a hint of skepticism, I followed his advice and booked train tickets.

By complete chance, I was discovered by a modelling agency on the ferry ride and was invited to join them in sunny Milano. At first I ignored the invitation but after two weeks of growing and perfecting tangerines in Corsica, I felt the modelling career calling out to me. The money, the glamour, and a life of excess were all too tempting for me to pass up. I packed my bags and left my life as a farmer to become part of the refined world. I was taken in by the agency where I was cultivated, improved and shown off to the world. I had become the tangerine; a polished product made for the consumption of the masses and a golden shell of my former self.

Every crop has its season, however, and Milano had become the city I had tried to flee. The once sunny streets had now started bearing a striking resemblance to the loud and rancid streets of Paris.

Out of the blue disaster struck and my grandfather passed away, leaving his world-famous art supply store behind. I knew what I had to do and promptly booked tickets to Phénix. Now I continue his legacy by running the art supply shop. The modelling career was fun while it lasted but it was not meant to be as I have once again become the cultivator I aimed to be from the beginning.

Art is my crop and the supplies are my soil.

Anyway, business is pretty slow and we have an 80% discount on paint thinner this afternoon. Get supplies while they last!

-Warm regards, Benjamin🎨

Bonjour everyone!

I'm Christina, the chaotic new art intern and self-proclaimed French spy at Flamebait. My speciality is stylized 3D, vibrant textures… and an unnecessary amount of puns during work hours.

Currently, we're creating a lot of fun new props to populate the fresh environments of Passpartout 2, and hopefully make your future experience all the more immersive!

This is an example of what we've got in store for you: the before and after for the little house where everything begins. There's a lot of hidden details in the textures if you squint – we hope you'll uncover all the little secrets we've embedded into the game, and look forward to future updates!🥖

Heya👋

To get those sweet puppet vibes it's important for us to understand how big our little green fellow actually is. Bengan threw together a helpful AR demo that we wanted to share! Don't mind the corn and pea soup cans in the background. I guess that's just animator food or something that really helps you focus when perfecting the puppet mastery of their digital skeletons.

So how big is Passpartout? Our little artist is about 18 centimetres! That is 7.08661417 imperial inches, 0,0036 Swedish stenkast, 0,573 German Rheinfuss or 6,65 French pouce. Whichever you prefer!

Thanks for tuning in and I hope you all had a great summer☀️

Heya!

I hope you're all having a great summer so far! The avid fan will recognize this fellow. It's George! He's back with an updated look and more intense emotions than ever. In Passpartout 2 you can expect to meet many familiar faces but also plenty of new ones!

P.S. It's a not-so-well-kept secret that I'm actually terrified of puppets. So don't send puppet GIF-s my way!! Luckily Gustav is doing a great job keeping them cute and wholesome so far!

How do you like his new look? Let us know what you think in the Discord!

Have a sweet continued summer!

/Mattias

It was really awesome to see people guessing Passpartout 2 during the Wholesome Direct stream when they had only seen the legs!! For our first medium-deep secret we want to share the storyboard behind the trailer! This is one of the earliest versions before adding in animations, sound and music☺️.

Can you spot all the changes we made?

Courtesy of LG Studios, Passpartout and their paint addled friends now speak Turkish! Now like never before you can navigate those menus to start a "Yeni Kariyer". So, if you ever wanted to get critiqued in Turkish, now's your chance!

Thanks yet again LG Studios for localizing the game for us!

Heya!

We were made aware of an issue on Linux systems where the mouse cursor would go invisible after finishing a painting. As this is less than ideal when you want to... you know... click on things, we're addressing that with this patch:

Changes:
- New dazzling cursor for the game to entice the Linux OS to switch back to it
- Fixed the painting brush cursor not correctly rendering in negative on Linux system

The new cursor has also been added for all other operating systems since we love all of you equally and don't want to play favorites.

For those who like keeping track, recently a PC update featuring stability improvements hit Steam with a promise of a Mac followup. After a bit of elbow grease, it's now ready for release!

Patch Notes:
- Updated the game engine, shoring up the occasional quirk the game might've had
- Got with the times and committed to 64-bit version. 32-bit versions will no longer be available.
- Replaced incompatible shaders with new ones. They were getting rusty anyways.
- Patched up any other graphical errors

This will ensure the game keeps running for you all in the foreseeable future on current devices. As for future devices running the new line of processor chips, that's a problem for future us to tackle.

Happy Painting!
