There are Monster Hunter: World mods that make the game a bit more convenient, giving you more information on monster health or highlighting items to make them easier to pick up. Then there are the actual important mods, like the one that turns Nergigante into Thomas the Tank Engine, or these mods, which replace your hunter with comic book characters. Why be a normal hunter when you could be Iron Man, equipped with Thor's hammer and Captain America's shield for good measure?
This mod, called "I' m iron man" (I love that unnecessary space) comes in a few pieces. There are male and female Iron Man armor variants, a skin replacing the sword and shield weapon Grand Barong, and another weapon reskin that turns some Kulve Taroth silver weapons into a pair of Infinity Gauntlets.
I was pretty into modder crimsonfaust's Iron Man mod until I saw their One Punch Man mod, which looks exactly the right amount of stupid to be a great mod. If you're not familiar with One Punch man, all you need to know is that he's a normal guy who did 100 push-ups, 100 sit-ups, 100 squats, and ran 10 kilometers every day, and then got so strong he can destroy anything in a single punch.
This mod makes you look like the wonderfully dopey One Punch Man, though it does not, I need to point out, make you KO monsters in a single hit.
Still, it's pretty great. Here's another video of someone using the mod, punching monsters into submission.
If neither comic book man is quite what you're looking for, don't forget you can also play MHW as Geralt of Rivia in a special quest right now.
Monster Hunter: World has a couple of crossover events, but the most ambitious puts us in the shoes of Geralt of Rivia as he hunts down the monster that transported him and a Nekker to the forest. This turns out to be the Leshen who has taken up residence in the Ancient Forest and disturbed the natural order. You’ll therefore need to put it down.
Those new to hunting monsters, or if you just need to find a particular monster guide to get up to Hunter Rank 16 – needed to start this quest – should head over to our [cms-block] hub for a plethora of guides.
Encouraging LARPing, Capcom have announced that Monster Hunter: World‘s icy Iceborne expansion won’t arrive on PC until we’re already wrapped up in scarves and mittens, coming our way this winter after a console debut in September. Yes, it is unfortunate that our version is still lagging behind, but isn’t it fitting to be exploring an icy island while huddling around your PC for warmth? That’s more IMMERSIVE than any light-up keyboard. Capcom blasted a load of details and videos about the expansion last night, including a look at a beastie swimming through snow with its horn poking out like a shark’s fin. Nope!
With the brand new Witcher update finally hitting PC this week, there was more news on exactly what to expect from Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Hunters will be crossing the sea to the new region known as Hoarfrost Reach, where despite the cold forest being a seemingly inhabitable tundra on the surface, it’s teeming with life. We’ll go over all of what has been revealed and what to expect in the coming expansion.
In order to prepare for the new expansion that will be coming at some point, check out our extensive [cms-block] to get up to speed with the basics, as well as all the more in-depth strategies for item crafting and individual monster fights. While the free updates are still happening for the base game, we should probably begin with the hottest news and show everything we know about .
Following on from the gameplay trailer reveal of Monster Hunter World expansion Iceborne, Capcom has shared a few more details on what players can expect to see when the paid update hits PS4 and Xbox One on 6th September.
As previously announced, Iceborne, which requires the Monster Hunter World base game to play, will introduce a brand-new story - picking up after the ending of the main game - as well as new monsters, and a new high-level rank. The latter, one step above High Rank, will be known as Master Rank, and is analogous to the G Rank seen in previous Monster Hunter games.
In many ways, though, the star of the show in Iceborne will be its new biome, known as Hoarfrost Reach - a snowy, extremely cold area that distinguishes itself from the base game both visually and in terms of its new gameplay elements. The extreme cold will, for instance, decrease hunters' stamina, making it much harder to battle the area's formidable creatures. Thankfully, effects of the cold can be countered (in much the same way as it could in earlier Monster Hunter games) by drinking Hot Drinks.
Ahead of tonight's planned Monster Hunter World Spring Update livestream, Capcom has offered a sizeable new gameplay trailer showcasing the game's previously announced Iceborne expansion, which now has a release date of 6th September.
I could probably just write the word NARGACUGA in massive letters and be done with it, but there's a whole lot more on show in Iceborne's beefy new trailer, which aired as part of Sony's State of Play livestream. Alongside a glimpse of the snowy wastes that form Monster Hunter World's new biome in Iceborne, the trailer offers a look at some of the new and returning beasts that fearless hunters will be up against, come 6th September.
Following the trailer reveal, Capcom confirmed that Iceborne's newly unveiled September release date applies to both PlayStation 4 and Xbox One. However, Monster Hunter World players on PC will unfortunately need to wait a little longer for the expansion; at present, it's scheduled to reach the platform some time "this winter".
The Monster Hunter: World crossover event with The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt has kicked off, meaning you can venture around the New World as Geralt of Rivia.
The event introduces a new permanent contract called Trouble in the Ancient Forest, which you’ll be able to start if you’re Hunter Rank 16 or higher. Just hop into the game and look for a group of Felynes on the deck of the Astera in the trade yard.
Once you talk with them, you’ll be invited to the Research Base, which is where you’ll get your introduction to Geralt, who will agree to look into some strange events going on in the Ancient Forest. At this point, you can start playing as good old Geralt right away, heading straight into the quest. He's equipped with a special version of Monster Hunter: World's sword and shield that looks just like the pair of steel and silver swords he uses in The Witcher 3.
Geralt’s English lines are performed by Doug Cockle, who voiced him in The Witcher series. It’s a good thing too, because he has a lot of lines from what I’ve seen so far. Geralt sets to work investigating right away, constantly muttering to himself as he examines the carcass of an aptonoth.
This contract is available permanently, so there’s no rush on getting this one done. However, you’ll only have from May 17-30 to take on Ciri’s half of the crossover, which is a multiplayer hunt for a much tougher beast.
The content update includes a patch, and you can find the details about that over on Steam.
Ol’ Geralt has gone tumbling through another magical portal, this time travelling from the world of The Witcher 3 to Monster Hunter: World. The crossover event lets us play as Geralt to track and murder a Witcher monster, the leshen treeman, with his usual Witching ways. Do so and you can get his armour and sword, plus a gruesome outfit for your Palico catfriend. A second, tougher part of the crossover starring Ciri will follow later this month with her gear as rewards, but only for a few weeks.
