To date, early glimpses of Capcom's long-in-the-planning Monster Hunter movie haven't done much to impress, focussing largely, and unpromisingly, on a cast of generic military personnel. Concerned parties can finally breathe a touch easier, however, with a new on-set photo offering the most Monster Hunter-y look at the Monster Hunter movie yet.
A Monster Hunter film was first rumoured in 2012 and was made official by Capcom earlier this year. Resident Evil and Event Horizon director Paul W. S. Anderson will be helming the cinema adaptation, with Milla Jovovich, Diego Boneta, Ron Perlman, and Tony Jaa to star.
Unsurprisingly, some Monster Hunter fans have raised concerns at Anderson's name being connected to the project, given how radical a departure the director's Resident Evil movies were from their source material. And those concerns have only grown as on-set and in-character photos from the movie have started to be shared by those involved.
The first pictures to come out of the Monster Hunter film adaptation were not particularly reassuring, with Milla Jovovich posting Monster Hunter set photos of her hanging out with fellow cast members decked out military uniforms. There wasn’t an oversized sword in sight. The latest photo, however, couldn’t come from anything other than Monster Hunter.
It shows Jovovich as Natalie Artemis, this time no longer decked out in modern military gear, accompanied by Tony Jaa, who looks almost exactly like Monster Hunter: World’s Field Team Leader, right down to the ridiculous Giant Jawblade.
Artemis’ gear is equally inspired by Monster Hunter World, and you might recognise the swirly pattern on her top from the Odogaron chest piece, specifically the male version, from the game. And yes, that’s a slinger that she’s got strapped to her arm. She’s not wearing a specific armour set, instead opting for a mix, obviously going for the pieces with the best stats.
The desert they’re running through, South Africa’s Atlantis Dunes, is meant to evoke Wildspire Wastes. Artemis will be traipsing across more than just the desert, however, and will visit different locations that might look familiar to players.
So, at least it looks the part, which puts it well in front of a lot of terrible video game adaptations. Check out the synopsis below.
Behind our world, there is another: a world of dangerous and powerful monsters that rule their domain with deadly ferocity. When Lt. Artemis (Milla Jovovich) and her loyal soldiers are transported from our world to the new world, the unflappable lieutenant receives the shock of her life. In her desperate battle for survival against enormous enemies with incredible powers and unstoppable, revolting attacks, Artemis will team up with a mysterious man who has found a way to fight back.
Cheers, IGN.
Despite it being only Wednesday, the Black Friday deals jamboree is well and truly under way. With more deals than you can shake a stick of RAM at, now is the time to get some tasty PC gaming deals on the cheap, especially if you’re after some nice new hardware. To help you make sense of all the deals madness, I’m here to help, as I’ve gone and gathered up all the best PC gaming Black Friday deals I can find, including deals on graphics cards, gaming monitors, SSDs, laptops and more. Yes, my soul is now nothing more than a withered husk, but at least it saves you the trouble of trawling through the internet yourself in search of the best savings. On that note, let’s get down to the business of all them deals, shall we? Here are the best Black Friday deals the internet has to offer.
Black Friday is still a week away, but not in Monster Hunter: World. Who has time to look at a calendar when there are gargantuan beasties waiting to be pummeled? To get the ball rolling early, Fanatical has discounted the massive monster-slaying game by 33 percent.
Both editions of Monster Hunter: World are 33 percent off, starting today at 4pm GMT and running until the same time on November 19. It’s the biggest discount the game has received yet on PC.
The first Monster Hunter to come to PC also happens to be one of the best. Take a gander at James’ Monster Hunter: World review. He’s pretty fond of it.
Like your character, Monster Hunter: World dresses its breathless combat in every assortment of the most arbitrarily complicated garb, all in the name of variety. It is an abyss of 'replayabilty’, an exercise in patience and observation for the ultimate payoff: an infinite black sea of invigorating dragon murder. And a new hat.
Hitman 2, which Fanatical discounted last week, has also had its sale extended. If you fancy dressing up and murdering people, it’s 25% off until November 20, 5pm GMT. Use the HITMAN225 code to get the full discount. It applies to every edition of the game.
That should keep you up to your neck in murder this weekend.

It's all go in Monster Hunter World PC. Mere days after Capcom announced that the mighty Elder Dragon Lunastra is, at long last, readying to make her debut on the platform later this month, the publisher has now revealed that Arch-Tempered Elder Dragon Kirin is incoming too.
Kirin's Arch-Tempered variant was the first Arch-Tempered Elder Dragon to be introduced to Monster Hunter World on PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, arriving back in the halcyon days of June. These fearsome creatures are designed to give seasoned hunters a real run for their money, even moreso than their (already formidable) Elder Dragon counterparts.
To begin the battle against Arch-Tempered Kirin, which requires a Hunter Rank of 50 or higher to participate, players will need to accept the new A Whisper of White event quest. This will be introduced at midnight on Friday, November 30th in the UK, and can be completed as many times as required, but only until 23:59pm on Monday, December 17th.
